    I found an answer to this on another page (I was having the same problem) This worked for me:
    Double-click the Home button.
    Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
    Swipe the app up to close it.

  • HT2534 How do you use an iTunes card after you have redeemed it?? I have entered my code for redeem and when I click on purchase song it asks me for a credit card?!

    How do you use your iTunes card after you have redeemed it. I have entered my redeem code and my balance is $20.00 but when I go to buy a song it asks me for my credit card details...?!

    If you set up an Apple ID already and didn't enter credit card details because you were planning on using gift cards only, you probably set up the account incorrectly. If this is the case, you will have to enter the credit card details even if you want to use only gift cards and download free content only. Yoy will not have to use the card, but you can't use the ID without entering the card details now. You may be able to remove the card as well after the card is verified for use by Apple by editing your account details.
    There is a very specific manner in which you have to set up an ID without using a credit card. You can read about it here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
    See this about changing iTunes account information.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1918
    If you decide to create a new ID now, you will new another email address as wel, because the email address that you are currently using will already be associated with the ID that you just set up.
    I am making certain assumptions here and reading between the lines of your post, so if I am guessing incorrectly, post back with more details.

  • Does any one know if you use the plug-ins yhat you have in the new fcpx?

    does any one know if you use the plug-ins yhat you have in the new fcpx?

    No, its not an "update" its a ground up rewrite.  A new app. It will be distributed by the App Store as a new product and will not have "upgrade" pricing.

  • Can you use an iPad 2 if you don't have a computer

    Can you use an iPad 2 if you don't have a computer?  How can you update to OS 5?  I want to get one for my mom but she doesn't have a computer of any type.  Can I set it up on mine (I already have an account, an ipod and ipad2)  and then give to her to use?  Can't find any info on this.  Do I have to set up an Itunes account for her on my computer initially?  Will she then be able to update via wi-fi???  Thanks

    To update to iOS 5 you need to do it thru iTunes on a computer. Once updated, thought, you can subsequently keep it up to date without a computer, thru Wi-Fi.
    Yes, you can use an iPad without a computer, but all things normally synced to the computer will have no backup (photos, videos, etc). If you set up a Wi-Fi network for your mom, she should be able to get a lot of use from it.
    Be careful about setting it up with your Apple ID, though. Once it is set up with your Apple ID it is tied to your creit card. Any future purchases (apps, books, etc) will always go thru your account.

  • What do I use when Migration Assistant reads "you might not be able to transfer using firewire on this computer"?

    When using Migration Assistant to transfer from one Mac to another Mac, as soon as I get to the point where it says to connect the firewire to each computer, it says "You might not be able to transfer using Firewire on this computer". What do I use then?

    The G5 is running osx 10.4.11, but so is the G4.
    I don't know if it's the Tiger or the Leopard.
    10.4.x is Tiger; 10.5.x is Leopard.
    I've not used the Tiger version of Migration Assistant (just Leopard and later), and there's not much in the way of Apple tech articles for it anymore.
    Since the message says "might not," I don't see any reason not to give it a try.  At worst, it will fail and perhaps leave a partially-transferred user account on the G5.  If that happens, we can deal with it.
    I'd make sure the connections are snug and secure, and try it.
    Good luck, and keep us posted.
    I don't have any backups of the G4 and I don't have an external drive and I don't know anyone who has one.
    If your data is important to you, invest in one . . . soon, and start making regular backups.  They're not very expensive (some as cheap as $50, good ones perhaps $100). Disk drives fail, especially after a few years, other things go wrong, and even the most careful users make mistakes now and then.

  • To reset using laptop do you use the same cord that you use to charge with USB?

    need to reset Ipad. What cord do I use to connect to laptop?

    Yes, that is the correct cable to use. It's the same one that you use to connect to the charger block.

  • What would I use instead of ternary operators?

    i came across some code I wanted to manipulate to help with a file input class we have to create for class, and the code contains : and ? and our teacher frowns upon us using those operators for what ever reason, so dose : not mean like a for loop? and does ? not mean a if statement?

    so dose : not mean like a for loop?The colon is used as an operator to distinguish the traditional for loop from the "enhanced for" for looping over iterables that was introduced in Java 5:
    // Traditional
    for(int i = 0; i < 10; i++) { ... }
    // Enhanced for
    for( Object obj : collection ) { ... }It can also be used in label names and in the ternary operator.
    and does ? not mean a if statement? The ternary operator is the question mark with the colon (it has three operands, hence the name):
    // Ternary operator used to avoid assigning a null string to a result:
    String result = (input == null ) ? "NULL" : input.toString();
    // Equivalent conditional construction:
    String result
    if( input == null ) {
       result = "NULL";
    } else {
       result = input.toString();
    }The major reason not to use it is that some novice programmers are not familiar with its syntax. That's a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy when teachers frown upon its usage for that reason! Exactly what reason your own teacher has for deprecating it is something you should take up with him/her.
    I like it in the type of usage shown above but would not normally use it in other circumstances. Nested ternary operators are probably not a good idea.

  • What application to use for recording audio to Tiger

    I need to record audio of a 4 day conference. Can somebody recommend the best applications for this? I will plug my Mac into a mixer to get the audio and then I need to create CDs/DVDs of each session. I was thinking maybe Garage Band or Quicktime (Pro?)
    Thanks.

    I think you would have stereo Left/Right RCA plugs on the mixer board output, so you would need a cable like this to go into the line-in stereo mini jack on the PB.
    http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3452165&clickid=prod_cs
    If you don't have a mini-jack input, then you may need an external USB input device like the Griffin iMic. (there were some Mac models that did not have the line-in jack, I don't recall which ones.)

  • How do you use a SOA Composite after you have deployed it and tested it?

    I have created a SOA Composite application, deployed it with no problems, and tested and it works. However I am having trouble finding info on what to do next. I really would like to know how to use this SOA Composite application in a web application. I am trying to create an interface that would use the SOA composite. Any links to help would be greatly appreciated.
    This is the only help I have found so far, http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28271_01/fusionapps.1111/e15524/uc_bpel_bc.htm

    Hi,
    It's a web service call, you go to EM get the WSDL and with it you generate the webservice client for your web application... By calling the web service you will be starting the composite...
    Cheers,

  • Do you use your BCE? (If you have one)

    Since there are other cards that give better rewards in those categories, does anyone with their bce actually use it, and for what?
    I'm looking to PC to it after my TE is gone.
    Such cards that can replace it are:
    Fidelity Amex (2% flat)
    Chase aarp 3% no cap restaurant
    Penfed 5% gas
    Sallie Mae 5% gas -$250 cap
    Feel free to mention others.
    Regards,

    I do use it. Primarily in 3 ways: At Costco (I also have the TE but sometimes I use the BCE to pay), at supermarkets where I shop sales, and for Amex offers. Amex offers are pretty great. I can't use them all for sure, but there is a good amount I can and do use, and I like the instant posting of credits when I do. My Amex offers are far more plentiful on my BCE than on my TE.Sounds pretty much like my spend.   I prefer using BCE inside Costco, since the rewards are the same and easier to redeem.   I also use it at department stores, except Macy's or JCP (I have their cards).   However, Discover has department stores as a category.    Plus BCE is 2% dept stores, same thing you get with a Double Cash

  • How do you use FTP or where do  you go to FTP on an IMAC using 10.5?

    I am new to Mac's, first one, I am trying to build my website and want to FTP to it, but I do not know how. Can someone help me please.
    Thanks

    You can use Terminal and use the command line ftp client, also. I haven't done much with it, but it is there and free. I'm sure there is plenty of help on the internet for using it. Otherwise, there are various FTP clients on the market, as mentioned.

  • Problems Exporting to Quicktime.  Would you use Profcast?

    Using the new Keynote, which is promising, we recording a seminar that was 2 hours long. We wanted to distribute it via CD. We have tried to export it so many ways to Quicktime. We get the old "Your slideshow cannot be exported as a Quicktime movie. There's not enough disk space, or there was a problem with the file." Of course, disk pace is not a problem. We just found out that this is some sort of bug that the Apple community has been trying to figure out for years and has errupted again with this new Keynote version. We've tried the couple solutions posted elsewhere on the internet, and nicely summarized here: http://www.madebymark.com/madebymark/2006/04/keynote30expo.html
    As with the author above, they haven't worked for us. And we don't have a stray "audio icon" that the author describes. Our Keynote presentation is very bare, with new fancy slide transitions or effects.
    I'm thinking that Keynote cannot be trusted with audio presentations of over a few minutes. We recorded a nice four minute or so presentation and exported to Quicktime. It worked wonderfully. Has all the nice effects. When we tried a longer recording (10) minutes, all the sound and transitions were out of sync.
    Our problem is that we record whole lecture and seminars. If Keynote has a glitch, we are then having to re-record. It's painful and expensive.
    We were using Profcast, which allows us to import Keynote presentation and record the lectures. Now Profcast doesn't allow fancy transitions. It also doesn't (or did not) export to Quicktime. It exported to mp4 (I believe) which a Quicktime user could open. But the audio was perfectly timed with the slide pagination. And two other important benefits. The lecturer could easily start and stop the audio. If I'm not mistaken, that's not on option under Keynote. If you start the recording under Keynote, you're on until you finish. If you pause (I don't think there is a pause. I think you must exit) the recording, you end the recording. The final nice thing of Profcast (although I have not used it) is that you can export to GarageBand. At that point you can edit out extraneous material. I'm not sure what to do with it at that point. I don't think GarageBand allows you to export to quicktime. I think you can export to iTunes which is a type of QT. Assuming that one had to edit using GarageBand, that would require person to have iTunes to listen and watch the slide presentation, if I'm not mistaken. The other problem is that when you are using Profcast, as I remember (and I may be wrong on this), you lose all the nice transitions and effects. You still see the same slides with the same quality, but minus the effects.
    ProfCast has proven a reliable workhorse, but without the effects. Quicktime is wonderful if you are not recording audio. If you are, nightmares ensue, and there seems little hope for an immediate solution.
    Here are my questions. Beyond the few solutions for the Quicktime export problem, does anyone have any solutions? Any suggestions? We have a three hour presentation (it's huge) and are loathe to rerecord it.
    Should we just stick with Profcast? Why or why not?
    Oscar

    Oscar I feel your pain !
    We had similar problems from a recent seminar recording.
    However I don't think it's length related. We recorded 15 presentations. 7 of which did not have slides. All those were fine with just our placeholder screen (25-ish minutes each)
    Of the remaining 8 half exported finem, half crashed with the "disk full etc" error. All 8 presentations had slides imported from Powerpoint PC. Slide numbers ranged from 10 to 30. We could not determine a common denominator between the ones that crashed.
    We tried removing transitions, deleting and re-inserting the original slides and a whole raft of other voodoo especially trying to hack the contents of the KN Package file in the hope of stumbling on to a fix ... to no avail.
    This was a one-off live conference, no re-record possible. You don't want to hear this but we were forced to extract the audio and manually resynch All the presentations in Flash
    You may have a better workflow, but you DO know you can control click the Keynote file, choose "Show Package Contents" and in there you will find all sorts of stuff including the .m4a audio file
    This is a serious bug that render KN completely it's recording feature completely unusable.
    But what has been most disappointing to me has been the absolute lack of any feedback from the stuff I have filed on this. Bug reports, Feature Enhancements, and the lack of comments from any of the Apple KN staff on this Apple KN board, does not speak well to the type of support for this product.
    But here's the sting in the tail:
    Having JUST completed the Flash workaround (at a cost of several thousand dollars in contracting) I just installed the KN 4.01 updater released today and all the files that would not export now do so just fine ! Grrrrrrrrrr.........

  • What Monitor or Speaker do you use for Mastering?

    Hi,
    As a home studio owner, what Monitor or Speaker do you use for Mastering?

    Unless you have acoustically correct room, you will always have problems with low bass. That's why you need a pair of headphones that can produce sounds from 5Hz to 25kHz. I have BeyerDynamic DT770's but there are lot of others good quality headphones when you use that Hz criteria.
    I use Genelec 8040's which have enough dip switch settings to match it to the room. They are also quite small (metal enclosure walls are only couple mm thick) and since all the walls are round there are no resonances or standing waves inside the box. That means they will sound accurate even at louder mixing volumes.
    Btw the reason NS10 were used years back, was that they mimicked the average crappy home speakers, but still had tightly aligned sound. My old studio manager blamed all the terrible 1980's records on them, which you can hear if you compare them to today's remastered versions.
