Whatever happened to my Apple support account?

Hi everyone!
I am a person who enjoys visiting the Apple support page and try to help people who post their iPod problems on here. Every time someone said anything in the same post I had responded before I get an e-mail letting me know a new post was added to the thread, this no longer happens; I have not received any e-mails from any new posts in about 3 days. I have wondered what happened. Is there a post moderator or something that could explain to me what settings I have to modify so I would get those e-mails again?? They were so helpful.
Thanks!!!

If you click on "preferences" under your name, then "subscriptions", that's where you choose the email settings.
You should note however that there is currently a problem with email subscriptions (and has been for a few days). Apple are aware of the problem, but there is no indication of when it will be resolved.

  • How to close my Apple Support Account

I appear to have at least two Apple Support Community accounts. Let's call them A (my original one) and B (one I set up in error).
How can I close B?  (The account I'm using to post this question is B.)
The eMail address associated with B is the one I want associated with A and the system won't allow me to do this while it is still associated with B.
In addition, I can't even log into A because it asks me to choose a user name and then refuses permission to use my records as the eMail address is already in use.
    Thank you!

Thank you  I did receive a very pleasant reply but I fear I may have asked the wrong question in the first place as I was getting so confused!
As far as I know, I have two different Apple IDs (I only want the first one that I setup!) But it appears they are each associated with a different e-mail address.  So my problem appears not to be with the Apple IDs themselves (although I would dearly like to delete the second one) but rather with the Apple support communities account.
When I sign  into Apple communities as [email protected] (eMail addressed changed here for privacy!),  I am asked to "Choose your Apple Support Communities username"   So I choose one.  I am then presented with the message in bright red text "An account utilizing this email address already exists. Only one account per email address is allowed on Apple Support Communities.".   I am then not able to proceed so are unable to use the support community area.
If I sign in to the other account ([email protected]),  I can login perfectly well but this is the account I would rather close so I can use the original one.
Do you have any idea how I can proceed? The message I received suggested that I have yet another account using the [email protected]  e-mail address but I am at a loss to find out which account that might be!

  • Pre-Apple ID Apple support account shares e-mail with Apple ID

Hello, I have a small problem: Before these forums required an Apple ID, I made an account using my main e-mail. The thing is that my Apple ID is that exact e-mail, so now when I sign in with the latter and it asks me to create a username, 1. it tells me the one I want to use is taken (my old account), and 2. when I select a new one, it tells me the a-mail address is, of course, already in use. What could I do?
    Thank you.

    2. when I select a new one, it tells me the a-mail address is, of course, already in use.
When you select a new... what? ASC screen name? If you chose alvareo92 it will be forever tied to the Apple ID you used to sign in here, and cannot normally be changed. If that screen name is already taken (in this case, by your other Apple ID) then it's unavailable. The ASC display name doesn't have any particular relationship to an email address, other than the one(s) already used for that Apple ID.
More information would help - can you illustrate what's going on, using hypothetical user names and screen names? It would help visualize the problem. A workaround may be possible, but you have to sever the relationship between an email address associated with one Apple ID before you can associate it with another.
By "associate" I mean any email address used as an Apple ID, an alternate Apple ID, any additional email address, a rescue email address, or any Apple ID that has ever been created in the past, cannot simultaneously be used for any one of the others. The workaround may involve deleting that email address if it is not an Apple ID, or changing that email address, if it is an Apple ID.
I wish there were a simpler way to explain this. I realize it can be confusing.

  • How do you add a custom avatar pic for the Apple Support account?

I've noticed some people have their own pics for their avatar, not offered in the pics section when you customize your profile settings. I looked for an option to upload a custom profile pic, but couldn't find it; I only managed to find the option for uploading a profile photo, not a custom avatar pic. Thanks in advance.

The ability to add a custom avatar becomes available once you reach Level 3 (=500 points).

  • I cannot sign in to Apple support

I've had an Apple Support account for years, but in the past week, every time that I try to sign in to it, I get this message:
    Apple Support Communities
We're sorry. Your account could not be created due to system issues.
Please contact Apple Support Communities with the information below to create your account.
Even though I've followed the instructions about ten times, I get no response.
What's going on, and how can I rectify it?
(I'm using my wife's account now)

Add me to the list.  Cannot log in using the only Apple ID I've ever had.  And complete, yawning silence from email queries to Apple.  Had to create a new ID in order to post this message.
(I don't get any responses to my other queries about an iTunes Connect account, either.  What in the Sam Hill happened to Apple?)

  • Apple Support Page - Search Query Not Working

    Dear helpers,
There's something mysterious happening on the Apple Support page. When I enter a search query, weird (and not so wonderful) characters appear in my search string, ruining my search, resulting in 0 results every time.
For instance, imagine I enter "bug report" in the search, press enter/return. The results page shows the (few or no) results, but in the search is the string:
    "bug report kmosx5"
Where is the extraneous 'kmosx5' coming from. OSX5 would suggest it's related to OSX 5 (Leopard). Is this a 'behind-the-scenes' filter for the search string to restrict this to OS X10.5...? Either way, it shouldn't be concatenated onto my search string, surely!
    Any ideas?
    Pete.

    Hi Pete!
From This Support Page, if I enter bug report, in the Search Support field, and press my enter key, this is the generated Results Page.
As joshz posted, you may prefer to use the Advanced Search Page.

  • I've been locked out of my iTunes account and Apple support say they can't reset it!

Apple seems to have a problem in which some accounts become locked and cannot be unlocked.  Don’t bother responding with comment s like which i pulled form this site while tracking down my login issues:
"IT'S YOUR ACCOUNT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY IF YOUR STUPID ENOUGH TO SET UP AN ACCOUNT YOU CAN'T ACCESS THAN KICK YOUR OWN...TAIL!!! Pathetic cry babies....smh!"
This is my issue.  My account has worked without an issue since I created the account 1+ years ago.  Then for some reason i was prompted and i could not sign into my account.  I went to iForgot site
Requested Email Verification to unlock account – I request email verification but the email does not arrive. I know my account emsil account works.  I receive email every day to the email account from friends, family and even Apple (download billing receipts, and other apple notifications).  I created another "test" apple id and received an email without  This option does not work either because the verification email is not sent (or never arrives)
Next I went down the challenge question path.  I cannot get past the enter birthdate page as it is never considers my birth date as valid entry.  And yes, i know my birthdate but it is no longer accepted as a valid input.
I had a chat session with Apple support and they are aware of this type of issue but there is no process in place to fix these accounts. According to Apple Support (the person i chatted with) there is concern about protecting users identity by giving other access to your account.  I personally question this response because i had account issue with other companies that mange personal date (e.g. my Bank) and the issue was resolved.  Apple cannot or will not fix this issue.  Without resolution i can not get to content i have purchased but have not downloaded and i can not purchases or upgrade exiting apps.
    Any ideas?

Apple's primitive security scheme was very visibly embarrased by a media writer who saw two of his devices more or less wiped clean while he watched helplessly due to a social engineering crack. (not a hack, a crack)
You and a number of others have been caught between Apple's shutting down identity repair system and whatever unspecified fix.  How long are you stuck?  Well, they have your money already, and you consumers tend to be okay with the abuse, so they aren't in any hurry.

  • Trying to make a purchase on itunes and keep getting prompted to verify account information, when I do that, it says to fix errors, then to contact apple support, any ideas or know how to fix this?

Trying to make a purchase on itunes and keep getting prompted to verify account information.  I've done this and when i click done, it says to fix errors; i repeat the process then it says to contact apple support.  Any ideas or other experiences with this?  I've had this happen before and it got resolved after i called them and it took a few days, not very convenient.  The same thing happened when I was just trying to update my account info with a new billing / account address.
    Thanks

You will need to do what it says, contact iTunes Support. These are user-to-user support forums, if you thought you were contacting Apple by posting here. Go here:

    to contact the iTunes Store.

  • Does anyone know how to delete an Apple Support Community account/profile?

    Hey Guys,
Thanks for taking the time to take a look at this post!
I need to delete my apple support community account because I have responded to some questions and asked a few myself in the past and now even though I have fully removed myself from those posts and changed my e-mail preferences so that those preferences are set to not receiving any more emails, I am still receiving emails!!!!
So i just want to delete my account now..
    Many thanks in advance!!

There is no way for you to delete the account. I suppose in dire circumstances a host could do it but it doesn't happen often.
If the only reason you want to delete the account is because of the email you are getting from here, it can be stopped. SeeHighly annoyed here. for the way to stop them.
    regards

If you are getting a message to contact iTunes support then only they can help you (these are user-to-user forums, we won't know why you are getting the message) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • HT1277 I can't see my email in Mail on my computer (OS 10.8.5) only in my iPhone (iOS7). Mail on my computer doesn't sense there are new emails. I use iCloud mail account. Anyone knows the solution, Apple support has not bothered to answer. .-((

My Mail program doesn't show mail adressed to my icloud account. Messages show up on my iPhone but rarely on my iMac. I wrote Apple Support about this but they didn't even bother to answer.

    You’re welcome.
Sometimes messages left on the server clog up the account there, or Mail chokes on a message it cannot download and that prevents it from downloading the rest as well. Solving this problem will probably require removing one or more messages from the server. What are your Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > Remove copy from server settings for this account?
You may tell Mail to remove from the server all the messages that have already been downloaded by means of Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > Remove now. Alternatively, you may use the Account Info window to remove specific messages from the server. And if the account allows web access, you may also remove messages from the server that way.
Try removing from the server messages that have already been downloaded and/or the first message not downloaded yet (i.e. the message that Mail appears to be choking on).
You may want to try to download those messages with another mail client such as Thunderbird first, to avoid losing them — and use Eudora Mailbox Cleaner to import them back into Mail afterwards if you wish.

  • How do you reset the security questions when you havent used a credit card to make any purchases, only the gift cards. Apple support will not help me even though i know my account and apple id and password?

Have a new computer and now cannot access itunes without knowing the answers to the security questions. Apple support cannot reset as we have never used a credit card when purchasing prior, have only used gift cards. Can provide apple id and password and all other account details but still no help. Have we to open a new3 account and start again, this means losing a lot of credit on the existing account?!

I have the same problem. I didn't set a rescue email for some reason. To find out weather you hav a rescue password: Go to appleid.apple.com, sign in, go to manage account and then password and security if you do there will be a link below telling you that you can send an email to it. If not the link won't be there. Hope this helps.

  • How can I create icloud account which I tried and it has showing the message that multiple free accounts have been activated on this device how should I install icloud and I got from apple support if you have mac then create a new icloud account but I don

How will have an option to create an icloud id

    Hello there, vishal274.
The following Knowledge Base article provides a great FAQ that provides some great answers to some of the more common questions about iCloud, including yours:
Creating an iCloud account: Frequently Asked Questions
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4436
How do I sign up for iCloud?
You can sign up for iCloud on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later, or through System Preferences on a Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.4 or later. Just follow the setup instructions for your iOS device or Mac.
You may need to verify the email address that you use for your Apple ID. See Frequently Asked Questions About Apple ID for more information.
I had a free Find My iPhone account. How do I sign up for iCloud?
Update the devices that you use with Find My iPhone to iOS 5 (iOS 6 recommended). When you're asked to enter an Apple ID during setup, enter the Apple ID you were using for Free Find My iPhone. Your account will be automatically updated to iCloud.
I had a MobileMe account. How do I sign up for iCloud?
To use your MobileMe account for iCloud, follow the iCloud setup instructions and enter your @me.com or @mac.com email address as your Apple ID. If you had an @me.com address, it will be reactivated for email when you sign up for iCloud. If you had an @mac.com address, it won't be reactivated for email, but you can set up a new @icloud.com email address to use with iCloud.
Important: You will need a verified email address associated with your @me.com or @mac.com Apple ID to set up iCloud. To add a verified email address, go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com), sign in with your @me.com or @mac.com email address, and add a valid email address to your account.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • How can I change the security questions on my account without calling Apple support?

Important to note that when I try to change it on the Password and Security page on My Apple ID, it keeps asking me to answer my security questions, which I can't remember the exact answer to.
I've also tried changing my Apple ID password, but then it still asks me to answer the questions before I change them.
Please help, I don't want to waste money by calling Apple Support on the other side of the world

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.
