In all seriousness, there are a variety of laptops that no doubt suit your needs wonderfully. You can definitely do a search on the Best Buy website under laptops and change the parameters to LOW TO HIGH. That will give you the cheapest laptops.
If you'd like to know which laptop will give you the best bang for the buck, so to speak, we'll need to know a little about what you intend to do with it? Give us a breakdown on your expected daily tasks - be it merely browsing the web and checking email, or playing games. (If games, which ones? Facebook style or more intense?)
I'm certain we can come up with something you'll really enjoy, if you'll spend a little time giving us more information!

shell scripting is the process of creating programs which are able to execute using a shell.
a shell is the program you use when you are logged in to a linux (or unix) system via ssh (or if you are outdated by 10 years: telnet).
there are much shells, traditionally, unix system use the bourne shell (visible as sh most of the time), the kornshell (ksh) and c-shell (csh) extended the bourne shell functionality. nowadays there are very much shells, most linux systems use the bourne again shell (bash). the bash shell is available for most linux/unix systems, I always advise to use it on any system, so the shell functions the same on all platforms.

I just updated to Numbers 3.0.1. In the old version if I started to type a name that was already in the spreadsheet, it would automatically fill it in. That doesn't happen in the new version. What am I missing to get that to happen?

If you frequently enter repeating values in a column and don't want to type the same text over and over again, instead of just waiting for Apple's updates why not try using an enhanced feature in Numbers 3 that in many (probably most) situations is even better than "auto-complete"?
Numbers 3 has an enhanced Pop-Up Menu functionality that helps prevent typos or capitalization inconsistencies from creeping in and messing up your data. It is also much more efficient than auto-complete in Numbers for iOS, should you ever want to sync to an iPad or iPhone and do data entry there.
Pop-Up Menu is much enhanced over what it was in Numbers 2.3, and is easy to set up:
Select the whole column or range before formatting as Pop-Up Menu and your existing values in that column or range will pre-populate a menu automatically:
Then you can remove the values you don't want in the list, such as the column header (and possibly some previous spelling errors too!):
And after this easy one-time setup all you have to do thereafter is to choose from the pop-up list when you add rows:

Should you ever want to take your Numbers with you and do data entry on an iPad or iPhone, in a touch interface, pop-ups are much more efficient than typing the first few letters of items. You can scroll with ease through a list of dozens of items to make a pick. Anybody using Numbers cross-platform should favor Pop-Up so they can use their documents efficiently for data input on the go, which can be a productivity booster.

My iTunes library will not connect to my iPod, nor will it show the purchases made on that iPod from the last 2 years. What can I do to get that music on my laptop?

When trying to burn a CD, I realised that a LOT of my music (over 700 songs) are not on my laptop. I try and sync my iPod frequently however, a notice pops up saying 'erase and sync' or do nothing. Due to the fact the not all my music is not on my laptop I choose the option to do nothing. This has been going on for about 2 years now and I am struggling to find a solution.
All those new purchases that I have brought through my iPod in the last 2 years do not show up on my account settings nor as an option to download through iCloud. I understand this may be a simple fix, however I am not an expert in this field.
Any suggestions as to how to solve my problem are greatly appreciated.

With iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC. When the iPad is plugged in it should then appear on that left-hand sidebar under 'Devices' so that you can select it, and then use the tabs on the right-hand side of the screen to select what to sync to it.

i have just got an iphone 5s and i need an all over protective case as i am very clumsy. one factor that i need to consider is i cant spend loads on one. any suggestions???????

Good but not too expensive audio interface

Can anyone recommend any reasonably cheap audio interfaces that have an xlr mic input and either a firewire output or usb output for use with garageband? I want a good enough signal to be able to record some near professional level vocals ( I realise this is a bit of an arbitrary measurement of quality but you know what I mean). I tried the Phonic Firefly 302 but the signal was terrible and I couldn't get it to work properly (presuming that the signal I got wasn't the best it transmits).

I also have an ART Tube MP - bought it especially for my 2 Valve Juniors (1 head & cab and 1 V3 Combo)... it works very nice as a volume boost for the cleans (after about 11:00 o'clock the VJ becomes raunchy) and also as a bit of a gain boost too when I crank em up - you can actually overdrive the 12AX7 tube in it. Nice lil' "mod" that requires no soldering and mucking about inside the VJ. I like mine a lot.

What looks good in Bridge, Lightroom & Safari, looks too light in CS4

When I get things just the way I want them in Lightroom, and export them, when I open them up in Photoshop CS4, they look way too light and even undersaturated. The same image looks the same in Safari, LIghtroom and Bridge, but not CS4. CS4 is set to sRGB and all the images are sRGB images.
Question: why? And what do I need to do so that images look the same in all applications?

im planning on selling my 6600gt and i was wonderin what vid card i should get that would let me overclock or maybe even flash into a faster video card for $200. i saw many pci-express cards that are much cheaper, but unfortunately, im stuck with agp 8x cuz of my motherboard. Are you on crack? It takes 2 clicks from ATI's website to download their drivers and couldnt be any more simple to do so! A 2 year old could get onto ATI's website and find the download latest drivers link in the lower left hand corner of their webpage. Before your bash me for being an ATI fanboy, just know that I actualy own more nVIDIA cards than I do ATI even though I chose to use an ATI card as my main vid card. I own nvidia cards ranging from a 6600 stock all the way down to a TNT 2 and sell video cards for a living so I am not biased towards either company!

I shop @ monarch all the time and have had nothing but a wonderfull experience with them. I've ordered more than 10 ATI and Sapphire Radeon 9800 PROS from them over the summer and their shipping response time is just great. Obviously not as big as newegg or zipzoomfly nor do they have the huge promotions and sales but their service is on par with the big boys as is their shipping time! Hope that helps!
