Whats a good tutorial site for starting with Flash?

I have searched far and wide all over the internet and I
can't seem to find any good tutorial sites on how to make nice text
animations, example, making something sparkle, or making the text
spin. If any of you could help it would be appreciated
immensely!

  • Unsure about preparing a Dreamweaver Site for use with Contribute

Recently I designed a small Dreamweaver Website (DW CS2) for
a friend and it is already successfully online. So that my friend
can manage her own website, I`ve decided to prepare this DW site
for use with Contribute, but I'm unsure about the steps involved
and what files I will need to store on the server. Is the following
    roughly correct?
Step 1: Define editable regions in these html files and save
    these as html files.
Step 2: Enable Contribute Compatibility in DW before I upload
    to the server.
Step 3: Is setting up a Connection Key necessary for my
    friend`s access?
Step 4: Upload these. Do these completely overwrite the
existing Dreamweaver html files on the server? Or should I be
    saving in another file format?
Many thanks to anyone who can advise me!

    I sugggest these steps:
    A: Dreamweaver:
    1. build you site based on (a) template(s) with editable
    regions
    2. upload the website to the server
    B: Contribute
    1. create a connection
    2. administer the website ( and create an admin password )
    3. set the proper settings for your users (administrators,
    publishers, writers), enable rollbacks
    4. create a connection key fot you user with the proper role
    and save that to disk
    C: Dreamweaver
    1. manage the site in dreamweaver
    2. enable contribute compatibility (this way files get
checked in and out, so you know who is editing what)
    D:
    1. Sent the connection key to your user

  • Developing for IOS with flash on a mac

    Hello,
Lee Bremelow put up a good starter's guide on his blog about setting up development for IOS with flash on windows.
Can someone help me with a similar introduction to doing the same on a mac?
Been looking for one with no luck.
    thanks,

    Hi Duncan,
In the Publish Settings window, in the HTML tab, at the top
of the window under the "Template" option is a second option:
"Detect Flash Version". Check this box. The AC_RunActiveContent.js
file will contain a couple of functions that will test the user's
plugin version. If it doesn't pass the test then the html page will
show a message telling the user to get the Flash plugin and a link
    to the plugin.

  • What are good maintenance apps for Mac mini

What is a good free app for the Mac mini for maintenance?

    How to maintain a Mac
    1. Make two or more backups of all your files, keeping at least one off site at all times in case of disaster. One backup is not enough to be safe. Don’t back up your backups; all should be made directly from the original data. Don’t rely completely on any single backup method, such as Time Machine. If you get an indication that a backup has failed, don't ignore it.
    2. Keep your software up to date. In the App Store or Software Update preference pane (depending on the OS version), you can configure automatic notifications of updates to OS X and other Mac App Store products. Some third-party applications from other sources have a similar feature, if you don’t mind letting them phone home. Otherwise you have to check yourself on a regular basis.
Keeping up to date is especially important for complex software that modifies the operating system, such as device drivers. Don't install such modifications unless they're absolutely necessary. Remove them when they are no longer needed. Before installing any Apple update, you must check that all system modifications that you use are compatible. Incompatibility with third-party software is by far the most common cause of problems with system updates.
    3. Don't install crapware, such as “themes,” "haxies," “add-ons,” “toolbars,” “enhancers," “optimizers,” “accelerators,” "boosters," “extenders,” “cleaners,” "doctors," "tune-ups," “defragmenters,” “firewalls,” "barriers," “guardians,” “defenders,” “protectors,” most “plugins,” commercial "virus scanners,” "disk tools," or "utilities." With very few exceptions, such stuff is useless or worse than useless. Above all, avoid any software that purports to change the look and feel of the user interface.
It's not much of an exaggeration to say that the whole "utility" software industry for the Mac is a fraud on consumers. The most extreme examples are the "CleanMyMac," "TuneUpMyMac," and “MacKeeper” scams, but there are many others.
As a rule, you should avoid software that changes the way other software works. Plugins for Photoshop and similar programs are an obvious exception to this rule. Safari extensions, and perhaps the equivalent for other web browsers, are a partial exception. Most are safe, and they're easy to get rid of if they don't work. Some may cause the browser to crash or otherwise malfunction. Some are malicious. Use with caution, and install only well-known extensions from relatively trustworthy sources, such as the Safari Extensions Gallery.
Only install software that is useful to you, not (as you imagine) to the computer. For example, a word processor is useful for writing. A video editor is useful for making movies. A game is useful for fun. But a "cache cleaner" isn't useful for anything. Cleaning caches is not an end in itself.
Never install any third-party software unless you know how to uninstall it. Otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve. Do not rely on "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software.
    4. Don't install bad, conflicting, or unnecessary fonts. Whenever you install new fonts, use the validation feature of the built-in Font Book application to make sure the fonts aren't defective and don't conflict with each other or with others that you already have. See the built-in help and this support article for instructions. Deactivate or remove fonts that you don't really need to speed up application launching.
    5. Avoid malware. Malware is malicious software that circulates on the Internet. This kind of attack on OS X was once so rare that it was hardly a concern, but malware is now increasingly common, and increasingly dangerous.
There is some built-in protection against malware, but you can’t rely on it—the attackers are always at least one day ahead of the defense. You can’t rely on third-party protection either. What you can rely on is common-sense awareness—not paranoia, which only makes you more vulnerable.
Never install software from an untrustworthy or unknown source. If in doubt, do some research. Any website that prompts you to install a “codec” or “plugin” that comes from the same site, or an unknown site, is untrustworthy. Software with a corporate brand, such as Adobe Flash Player, must come directly from the developer's website. No intermediary is acceptable, and don’t trust links unless you know how to parse them. Any file that is automatically downloaded from the web, without your having requested it, should go straight into the Trash. A web page that tells you that your computer has a “virus,” or that anything else is wrong with it, is a scam.
In OS X 10.7.5 or later, downloaded applications and Installer packages that have not been digitally signed by a developer registered with Apple are blocked from loading by default. The block can be overridden, but think carefully before you do so.
Because of recurring security issues in Java, it’s best to disable it in your web browsers, if it’s installed. Few websites have Java content nowadays, so you won’t be missing much. This action is mandatory if you’re running any version of OS X older than 10.6.8 with the latest Java update. Note: Java has nothing to do with JavaScript, despite the similar names. Don't install Java unless you're sure you need it. Most people don't.
    6. Don't fill up your disk/SSD. A common mistake is adding more and more large files to your home folder until you start to get warnings that you're out of space, which may be followed in short order by a startup failure. This is more prone to happen on the newer Macs that come with an internal SSD instead of the traditional hard drive. The drive can be very nearly full before you become aware of the problem.
While it's not true that you should or must keep any particular percentage of space free, you should monitor your storage use and make sure you're not in immediate danger of using it up. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of free space on the startup volume for normal operation.
If storage space is running low, use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the most space. Move seldom-used large files to secondary storage.
    7. Relax, don’t do it. Besides the above, no routine maintenance is necessary or beneficial for the vast majority of users; specifically not “cleaning caches,” “zapping the PRAM,” "resetting the SMC," “rebuilding the directory,” "defragmenting the drive," “running periodic scripts,” “dumping logs,” "deleting temp files," “scanning for viruses,” "purging memory," "checking for bad blocks," "testing the hardware," or “repairing permissions.” Such measures are either completely pointless or are useful only for solving problems, not for prevention.
To use a Mac effectively, you have to free yourself from the Windows mindset that every computer needs regular downtime maintenance such as "defragging" and "registry cleaning." Those concepts do not apply to the Mac platform.
A well-designed computing device is not something you should have to think about much. It should be an almost transparent medium through which you communicate, work, and play. If you want a machine that needs a lot of attention, use a PC.
The very height of futility is running an expensive third-party application called “Disk Warrior” when nothing is wrong, or even when something is wrong and you have backups, which you must have. Disk Warrior is a data-salvage tool, not a maintenance tool, and you will never need it if your backups are adequate. Don’t waste money on it or anything like it.

  • What's the best webcam for Mac with tilt/pan/zoom?

I am trying to find a good quality webcam to use for videoconferencing with my Mac (MacBook Air actually). The camera is to be positioned on the 60-inch screen on the wall in our boardroom so the built-in Facetime camera doesn't do the job. It needs to have tilt/pan/zoom (in software). When I started on this search I had no idea such a thing was going to be so hard to find. There is no shortage of such products for Windows but I can't find a single one for the Mac.
There are a lot of webcams that claim to support Mac but on closer investigation not a single one of them (that I've found so far anyhow) provides any conrol features like tilt/pan/zoom - nor even brightness and contrast control for that matter. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places because it's hard to believe the Mac world really is lacking such products. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Would be much appreciated.

    You're most welcome, Julie.
    dreamdoc wrote: ... I don't have a cam corder, but that's a great solution ...
If you are still shopping, you might be able to find a compatible used camcorder at a local store that sells used cameras or electronics. One with a failed tape mechanism that otherwise works would likely be very low priced.  The same store may also have compact tripods.
Because your MBA is so portable, it is easy to take with you so you can test any camcorder before you buy to be certain it meets your needs.

Per the Respond to answers tutorial page, you decide when to mark an answer that "solves your question."
I certainly did not intend any reminder.  As a user like you, I have not authority to remind or otherwise instruct you about your participation in Discussions.  As explained in ¶ 1.11 of Apple Support Communities - Terms of Use, the Apple Hosts would be the ones who would address any concerns with you if necessary.

    hello
i dev sites, i write from the bottom up code, html, css, JS. i dont use any apps such as dreamweaver or whatever. i know what im doing, i even get paid for it, i can look at code like most can read a book.
however, maintenance at sites via staright code gets a little old. i was thinking that some kinda good CMS app that does NOT lob in extrneous code would be cool, mostly just text or link changes in html, occasional cms changes. it would great to be able to see the framework of a page but not completely necc.
i did find cssedit, for css (really?), have not taken it for a test drive yet, it looks good, something similar for htm AND or JS would be great.
    thanks

    harold of cardboard
    anyone have any suggestions?

If you are looking for a fantastic, inexpensive, lightweight code editor:
    Coda: http://www.panic.com/coda/
If you are looking for a "CMS" which means software that runs on your web server to give you a web browser based administration panel for the site to edit templates and content, then dynamically blends that data with presentation for the front end of the site, and you want one that runs on an an OS X server, consider:
    Textpattern: http://www.textpattern.com/ (free)
    ExpressionEngine: http://expressionengine.com/ (commercial)
I've been hand coding HTML since Mosaic in 1993. I've licensed Dreamweaver all along, but it's very heavy. I like Coda for fast simple hand management of open source sites where I don't need a full IDE.

  • Free Goods Sales Order  for Charities with Credit Limit

    Dear All
I have a scenario where POS (Point of Sales) has been implemented, the process of POS is ok,but the requirement of the client is they are giving some goods to charity, when ever a person comes with a special card (Issued by the company) the outlet will create a sales order for the same without any charges with a credit limit of 1000 SAR (saudi arabian riyal).
    Requirement
    1) Creation of sales order with delivering goods but without any charges.(should have effect in Stock)
2)These charities is been treated as Customer with a credit limit of SAR 1000 (whenever the credit limit exceeds system should block the order)
how this scenario can be mapped in SD,
    Thanks in advance
    Malik

    Dear Malik
keep the process regular, which will help in blocking the charity customer when reached 1000 SAr at order level itself.
As customer need to be shown that he  is not charged.
you can work on changing the display of output determination .
You can take the help of Ababer and display what ever client is asking for.
I think  this may solve your query without disturbing you regular business process.

  • Built iWeb site for friend with my account. How can I transfer site to his?

Hi everybody. I recently finished creating an iWeb site for a friend while using my MobileMe account. What's the best way to transfer this site to his MobileMe account (so his username, etc. shows up in the url; not mine). I'd like to avoid having to rebuild the entire site while using his version of iWeb/MobileMe.
Am I in trouble or is there a solution?
    Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Will your friend be maintaining the site once it's published to his MobileMe account? If so just copy the domain.sites2 file containing his site to his computer and put it in his User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. Once he logs into his MobileMe account via the System/MobileMe preference pane he can make changes and published them to his account.
If you also have a site in that same domain file, duplicate that file, open it with iWeb and delete your site before transferring it to your friend's Mac. Then delete his site from your domain file leaving just your own site. You can delete his site from your MMe account by mounting your iDisk, going to the iDisk/Web/Site folder and deleting the folder that has his site's name.
