Whats my web server - JWS or apache

Folks-
How do I know if my ifs setup is using JWS or Apache?
Thanks in advance.
Ramana

Ramana,
simple way. Try running ifsstop script from your $ORACLE_HOME/ifs/bin directory. If your ifs is running on JWS, you will be asked for the admin user password. If it is on apache, this question will not arise....
Hope this helps,
Rajesh

  • What is web server in obiee

There are other Web Application Servers (*) you can use as well. In general any J2EE Web App Server is supported. We use JBoss for instance.
(*) Web Server is not the same as Web Application Server. Apache is a Web Server, whereas Tomcat is a Web Application Server. Web Servers only support static pages and server side scripting languages whereas Web Application Servers also support Web Applications (i.e. a J2EE Web Application).

What does a web server crash mean?
Does it mean that the jvm has crashed or can it be some other reason also?

LCDS stands for LiveCycle Data Services. If you have worked with BlazeDS then it would be easy to understand LCDS. In Flex several times it is required to do Database Interaction/Operations. At that time either we can use HttpServices, WebServices or RemoteObjects. RemoteObject gives best performance of all three as it communicates with flex client in Binary Format (aka AMF). So BlazeDS & LCDS both enable flex clients to connect with Java RemoteObjects. Beside remote objects both also support Messaging Service (real time data push).

LCDS is just advance BlazeDS having some improvements over BlazeDS. See BlazeDS Vs LCDS

  • Is a web server plug-in required between Apache 2.2 and WLS 10.3.5

I am using Fusion Middleware 11g PS4 (11.1.1.5) at a new client and they currently are using Apache 2.2 for their web clients. The detailed question that I cannot answer is... Why do I need the web server plug-in mod_wl_22.so to be installed? I've read the docs that state how to install and configure and I have done this before without question. But, is this module really needed to send requests to weblogic server?
Does anyone know the detailed answer to this? What is the mod_wl_22.so really doing?
My client is very web savvy and is wondering if the web server can be set up to front-end weblogic server without this.
The environment is a 2 node cluster with SOA suite as the main component. I have a soa_cluster, bam_cluster, wsp-pm_cluster and Admin Server installed on both of these nodes.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,

I found this link to a .pdf that I believe explains the difference between OHS and Apache and what the web server plug-ins do. See this link:

  • What is the web server to support dbconsole of database 11gr2?

I have installed oracle database software 11.2.0.2 on solaris10, and configured the dbconsole for a SID database. All run as expected, such as accessing the web oem console and etc.
I cannot find what the web server in the 11.2.0.2 install to support the dbconsole.
Seems there is no Apache server installed for 11.2.0.2.
Only the following processes are relevant:

Any idea about the web server in 11.2.0.2?

    Hi mv,
I probably mis-spoke. It is not so much the features that are missing in Sun Web Server, as it is the availability of additional user plugins. However, that being said, I chose Sun Web Server over Apache because of security and performance. I realize additional plugins could adversely affect both of those. I have emailed Sun marketing about a specific feature for Web Dav I would like to see. This would make things much easier for people who would like to do mass hosting virtual hosting. Most of the real valuable features that gave Apache an edge, the web server team has added in version 7. I have pasted a portion of the letter I emailed to Sun marketing below about Web Dav, and my logic behind it. This as well as being able to hook the user system into standard open source databases makes for a broader solution appeal. I realize I only have one view of the market, and these are just my two cents. :-) Thanks!

I was introduced to Sun Web Server several years ago when we began looking at moving servers away from Microsoft technology and also bringing them into our facility. As a network and sys admin, I evaluated using different web servers out there as we had a few years to work on this project to ensure uptime and reliability. Initially, I found Sun Web Server quite confusing and looked at Apache. However, after the web interface was retooled, I found Sun Web Server quite simple and refreshing to use. Since we have to be CISP compliant for the credit card industry, security was very important to us. Not only from a code standpoint, but also from an accidental misconfiguration standpoint. In my opinion, Sun Web Server out shines Apache and other alternatives by a long shot.
As far as the WebDav feature, what I have been looking at is how to expand and offer hosting and web services. I currently work for a small company which retails products on the web, and I also contribute to a few open source projects. Currently, I am working with http://www.mynajs.org/. We have been discussing how we could offer hosting for people wanting to try out the project. Hosting companies using Linux typically have deep hooks into the Linux operating system for managing users. For hosting, you have a whole specialized Linux stack with specialized disk quotas, users, ftp server with users based on Linux users, and mail. From my standpoint, while this works, it can become a nightmare as far as updates, system administration, patching, etc. For a business ROI, and technology footprint, this doesn't make sense. There are control panels out there that take care of some of this, but now you have another whole layer of technology to troubleshoot. If I do not want to use the Linux/Apache stack, and if I am using Java, and do not want to add Tomcat as well, what do I use? With Sun Web Server, I get the best of both worlds, one install, one piece of software, operating system separation, blazingly fast speed, out of the box clustering, one interface for management, standard serving as well as Java, and WebDav so that now I can eliminate an ftp server and reduce my footprint for security and maintenance headaches. One neat package. However, now I still have to manage and restrict users. How to do this using Sun Web Server? Right now, I have to either run an ftp server with quotas built in, or go back to the Linux operating system and work with specialized scripts an maintenance. In theory, if Sun Web Server had quotas, I have my user system with the controls I need. At the very least, if there were hooks to the WebDav system to perform custom processing on certain events, it would leave the door open for greater control of the user and system. Now if we want to offer a hosting solution, whether it be online storage, web hosting, or Java hosting, or social site, all we need is one product, Sun Web Server! With all of its features for enhancing performance, security, and much more. I might also add, that for a small companies, Sun Web Server has been a pretty much set it and forget it solution. It has been my experience for our servers to run pretty much without intervention once they are setup. With the watch dog process, if there is a problem, it is rarely noticed except for the admin watching the logs. Technically, I am not sure why anyone would choose something different than Sun Web Server. Apache is the hosting standard, but it is really Apache plus Linux. With a few more user features, I think Sun Web Server could replace the whole Apache/Linux stack, the Apache/Linux/Tomcat stack, outshine those solutions on heavy loads and high end features, and offer better ROI.

  • WebLogic Server as Web Server.

    Hi,
I am from WebSphere background and I'm pretty confused on how WebLogic works as a web server. With WebSphere, the web server will communicate with the application servers by using a plugin file. I understand that WebLogic has a similar plugin, but that is if I were to use a third party web server such as Apache or IIS.
From what I read here <http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs92/config_wls/web_server.html>, all I need to do is to configure a virtual host. Kinda different from what I read <http://e-generation.beasys.com/wls/docs81/cluster/setup.html#759939> which uses a HttpClusterServlet, but am using WebLogic 9.2 so probably this is not applicable?
My environment consists of 2 web servers and 2 app servers:
Clients will access the website using a virtual IP, which will be routed to the 2 web servers (we are using a hardware load balancer), and the 2 web servers will route the requests to both of the application servers which is clustered.
    Questions:
    1) So if I have created 4 instance of application servers, 2 of it I will configure it as a web server and the remaining 2 application servers will be clustered. In the virtual host setting, the target servers will be the 2 clustered application servers, no?
    2) 'Virtual Host Names' are the domains that are to be served by this virtual host?
    3) What is 'Network Access Point Name' exactly?
I don't enjoy myself asking these basic questions but I find this whole web server thing is pretty confusing. If anyone could point me to a more in-depth documentation on the concept and how to set up a weblogic server as a web server, that would be awesome. Appreciate any advice offered.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Is apache server different than apache-tomcat server

is apache server different than apache-tomcat server

If you mean the apache web server, then, yes it's different from tomcat.
Tomcat can be used to serve up static HTML, but it's primarily intended as a JSP and servlet container.
If you're just using it for learning or to run a small, personal website, then just tomcat will be sufficient for both the static stuff and the JSPs & servlets.
For bigger, heavier traffic sites, the tomcat people recommend using a separate web server (e.g. apache web server) for the static content. Since that's what these servers are made for, they do it better (faster? more robustly?) than tomcat.
