Hi and welcome.
And my God, what a first question to start posting with!  "Whats on BT Vision?".
Please bear in mind, it only costs £12.50 a mth, or £2.88 a week, so to speak.
To start with, I'll tell you whats NOT on Vision. Premier brand new first-run shows. These are 99% of the time first shown only on Sky (and by default Virgin cable).
Apart from the Box Office PPV HD films, HD is a no-no where the rest of the service is concerned. No Film Club, TV, or iPlayer HD is available. But, just for the privilege of accessing HD content, $ky charge their users £10 a mth to be able to view it.
What you will get with Vision is Freeview TV, Freeview TV On Demand Replay, showing the weeks best TV shows and VOD. That is 'Video on Demand'.
Vision does not offer extra TV channels. Instead, it offers a library of thousands and thousands of hours of film and TV content that you can watch when you want to watch it. Its all been shown before, but there are some absolute gems on there!
Soaps, Drama's, Docu's, Comedy, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Music Videos, and on and on, it's got the lot. Just bear in mind none of its new.
Personally, I've had all three services, Sky, Virgin and Vision.
For the pure versatility of the service and the variety of whats on offer, for myself and family, we have found Vision to be the best service we have used and that suits our needs.
Hope that helps.

  • What happened to Vision:M 1.40 firmwa

    Where did the .40 update go?
    Just go to Vision:M's updates and you'll see the old version: .30
    What's happening?
    Is .40 defecti've and should I go back to .30?

    There is a strange noise, especially from the right speaker, which is really annoying while listening. On high volumes, it's very significant. This problem started with .40 update.
    There is also the unfixed bug; the strange noise randomly happening when you start playing a track, which you need to restart playing the track to fix. This happened to me a several times in a few days.

  • What are "nsurlsessiond" and "AssetCacheLocatorService"?

    Little Snitch is catching these processes trying to connect to various servers (and not Apple ones) at least once per hour. What are they? Should I just let them go?

    I'm just violating the Apple Support Communities Terms of Use by speculating on what could happen in some future OS version.
    Traditionally, it was no big deal to expect problems if you hacked on an operating system in unusual ways. But then the internet happened and people started copying and pasting hacks they found posted on the internet without realizing the scope of the changes they were making. Now that is compounded by Apple's laser-like focus on "the average user" at the expense of us "non-average" users.
    For me, it is personal with iCloud. I have always used multiple partitions so I could keep multiple OS versions available for development and testing. That was never considered "hacking the OS" but it also wasn't quite "average user" behaviour either. I was very excited to get iCloud Keychain because I thought it would really make my life easier. It made my life much more difficult. I discovered that Apple no longer supports multiple boot partitions for some new features like iCloud Keychain. What other innocent habits do I have that Apple has deprecated?
    So, the moral of my little story is that none of us have any idea what Apple's vision of its future, ideal customer might look like. Woe unto us if we deviate from what Apple expects us to do.

  • FRUSTRATED.....BT VISION SERVICE WHERE ARE YOU?

    I JOINED BT BECAUSE OF THE GREAT PRICES AND SERVICES THAT WERE ON OFFER, I WENT FOR THE GOLD PACKAGED, UNLIMITED BROADBAND AND ANYTIME CALLS.....AND SKY SPORTS.
    NOW THE COMPLETION DATE WAS 16TH AUGUST...THE BROADBAND WENT LIVE AND SO DID THE PHONE LINE....BUT NO BT VISION, SO A CALL TO BT TO ASK WHAT IS GOING ON, I WAS TOL IT COULD TAKE UP TO MIDNIGHT BEFORE THIS WOULD BE ACTIVATED, SO I THOUGHT MAYBE I WAS A BIT EAGER TO RECIEVE MY NEW TV CHANNELS....SO I WAITED.
    WAKE UP IN THE MONRING  TO FIND NO BT VISION, SO AGAIN I CALLED BT, BUT TOO NO AVAIL, NO ONE COULD ANSWER ME AS TO WHAT WAS HAPPENING, BEING PASSED FROM DEPARTMENT TO DEPARTMENT I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WILL BE SORTED AFTER 24 HOURS IT WAS JUST A HITCH WITH THE BROADBAND NOT BEING SET UP, KNOWING THAT MY BROADBAND WAS SET UP I FIGURED THAT I'D GIVE BT BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT, LEFT IT 24 HOURS, AGAIN NO BT VISION, AGAIN I CALLED UP AND THIS TIME I WAS TOLD THAT MY ORDER WAS NOT COMPLETE AND THAT THIS WAS PREVENTING THE BT VISION BEING ACTIVATED, NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT THIS MEANT BUT I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE SORTED WITHIN 24 HOURS AS THEY WILL CALL THE RELEVANT DEPARTMENT AND GET MY ACCOUNT MERGED PROPERLY THIS WOULD TAKE 24 HOURS TO DO AND THE BT VISION WILL THEN BE ACTIVATED.....WELL THE LADY I SPOKE TO ADVISED ME SHE WOULD CALL ME TODAY AT 12.30PM TO ADVISE THAT THIS IS DONE, FIRST OF ALL, CALL CAME IN AT 3.45 AND SECOND OF ALL, GUESS WHAT NO BT VISION, I WAS TOLD THAT THE DEPARTMENT SHE CONTACTED HAD ADVISED HER THIS WOULD BE COMPLETED WITHIN THE 24 HOURS SHE STATED TO ME YESTERDAY, BUT THEY HAD NOT DONE IT, I WAS THEN TOLD THAT I WILL BE CONTACTED WHEN SHE HAS BEEN GIVEN MORE INFORMATION, NO TIMESCALE, NOT THAT THEY MEAN ANYTHING TO BT AT ALL.....SO HERE I AM STILL WAITING FOR A SERVICE TO BE SORTED, ONE IN WHICH I HAVE SIGNED A CONTRACT WITH BT, AND TO WHICH THEY ARE NOT ADHERING TOO.....SO I HAVE TO SIT HERE AND WAIT....COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN RAISED BUT NO ONE AT BT SEEMS TO CARE.....
    MY ACTIVATION WAS MONDAY 16TH AUGUST AND IT IS STILL NOT SORTED, I HAVE NO IDEA WHATS GOING ON, CAN SOME ONE HELP PLEASE?

    Hi ComputerGeek,
    I can not even set up my vision box, told not to register my vision card until the vision service has gone live, which was meant to be completed monday 16th, i don't rate the BT vision number to call as i have done to find out what is going on, and each time i am told a different story, BT don't seem to think my broadband or phone are connected, despite me advising them they are......
    But the matter has been escalated as of yesterday and have got a direct line to call regarding problems on this, but will hopefully be resolved by tomorrow, lets hope.
    The engineer cancelled the appointment to come out on monday as was in the area prior to this date and set it up then but failed to send the auto confirmation or something to complete the order, so by trying to be super effienct it has worked out the total opposite...
    Hope it's sorted by tomorrow as I would like to watch some football

  • What will be tomorrows network infrastructure?

    Due to historical reasons, many different network infrastructures co-exist in today's networks, such as Ethernet, SONET, ATM, etc. However, if we are building a complete new infrastructure for a metro or large campus network, which technology would be the most appropriate? What is Cisco Expert’s opinion?

    I would answer this question differently if I were considering the use of the network to be a service providers network or an enterprise network in that I could achieve a different cost model based on single versus multiple customers on the same networks. Also, the end needs of each customer are different, and if they were completely defined could lead to a different cost model for the services rendered.
    Generally, a service providers network requires support for TDM and data protocols, requires stringent Service Level Agreements, and generally either owns their own or has a lower cost per mile for fiber than an enterprise. For this reason, a SONET/SDH based network with data capabilities provides the most cost effective way to transport the variety of circuits and streams from the end users location to the point-of-presence (POP) and a WDM system based network is used for the long haul and inter-POP traffic is used. Data can be Ethernet over SONET/SDH or WDM, or it can be done with RPR (802.17).
    The enterprise is usually seen as more fiber constrained, and therefore uses a metro WDM (Coarse or Dense) to transport SAN and Ethernet connections between buildings. The ability for the enterprise to convert most legacy traffic into Ethernet, and the ability to combine Ethernet ports into ever-larger trunk speeds, can also lead to very cost effective Ethernet over dark fiber networks up to the new 10 Gigabit per second standard. RPR systems can also be used to extend SONET/SDH recovery mechanisms to Layer 2 and 3 networks.
    With voice and video moving to native IP, and the ability to tunnel most other legacy traffic over IP, Metro Ethernet systems over dark fiber, or extended over WDM or SONET/SDH systems are beginning to be the most cost effective way for businesses to connect within the campus or metro today.
    The question we have to ask whenever we build a network is what will the next 10 years bring us. My vision is one of lots of devices with wireless mobility, the mixing of SIP and HTTP services to the mobile devices, and lots of high speed Global Area Networking overhead to figure out who and where you are. What is your vision of the traffic and protocols you will be required to support in ten years?

  • Vision M vs Vision n

    Forum/reviewers seem?hot on the Zen Vision M. But the Zen Vision no-M seems to have all that the M does, plus a?much-bigger screen. And it's "only" app. US$60-70 more. Why not spend the extra $$ and get the bigger screen?Many thx, Eric-n-L.A (trying to decide)

    Why are you buying a Vision? For Music or for Movies? Im not sure what formats the Vision plays but the Vision M plays a variety of formats, also the Vision has a removable battery whereas the Vision M does not. At the end you are going to have to decide. Either way your getting a great product!

  • What steps are being taken to preclude Microsoft's penchant for robotic controls taking over Firefox, Thunderbird, or future products?

    I have not permitted Internet Explorer to run on my equipment since my first journey through the Group Policy Object Editor revealed the extent to which XP-SP2 and subsequent versions of Windows have undermined the owner's right to determine what will run on his equipment and under what conditions. Lately, while configuring Firefox to *not* "protect" me in any way from the daily intrigues and intrusions on the web, I find a very curious anomaly in that Firefox is running in "safe mode" and doing so in direct opposition to settings made with [about:config] or through the less inclusive adjustments available to unskilled users. There is no documented "safe mode" for Firefox, in fact this is a setting available [more or less available, that is] with group policy settings for Internet Explorer [only?] and my question is thus two-fold: [1] How is the feat accomplished? Has Microsoft subverted the Mozilla code base to such an extent they now write code to undo my configuration changes where such changes conflict with Microsoft's "vision" for how the Internet ought to function? [2] What, if indeed anything, can I do to regain control over my browser's configuration? I noticed recently that a version of firefox intended for Ubuntu 11.04 no longer seems to include the [about:config] functionality. If this is the case, then I'm afraid I will no longer by able to continue using Firefox, because I absolutely require the ability to decide for myself what features will, and more importantly, will *not* be used on my platform. If Mozilla has decided to withdraw my ability to decide for myself, this is a most unfortunate decision. I have enjoyed Firefox over the years and I will miss you greatly, but you leave me no alternative. If I am not able to define the operating environment to my satisfaction, I will opt for other, less restrictive alternatives, which happily exist in abundance for Unix and Linux and even for Windows if one is willing to search. I use Windows less and less because more and more they seem unwilling to endure my idiosyncrasies and will not allow me even minor changes to system color schemes and decorations without creating problems for me. Tell me that Mozilla will not follow Microsoft's lead and try to remove our ability to determine for ourselves what features we will or will not be permitted to use.

    That's very interesting information, to be sure, but my question is *not* "How do I make Firefox run in "safe mode;" rather, my question is this: "How can I *PREVENT* Microsoft Corporation [through the vehicle of xml-rpc , no doubt] from making unauthorized changes to my configuration decisions with respect to the manner in which I prefer my browser to operate?"
    I had not experienced this anomaly prior to SP3 on Windows XP-Professional. I have used both Vista and Windows 7 (very briefly) and on learning that Windows 7 simply disregards my configuration choices and instead makes certain to ***enforce Windows default configuration settings*** whether I personally have authorized those settings or not, I made the only configuration setting possible and removed Windows 7 from my equipment, downgraded to XP Pro SP3, and now I am tempted to uninstall SP3. Whatever is required in order to regain absolute and final control over the operating system. I frankly could care less what Microsoft's "vision" consists of. I have been a user of the DARPA.net now known as the "Internet," for as long as it has existed. In all that time I have not required any assistance from Microsoft or anyone else. I have configured software and hardware to my own standards [typically Microsoft has had a history of disregarding standards around the world, so why not also disregard my own standards?]
    Gentlemen, we have a problem. This is no "bug." Microsoft Windows is a globally deployed robotic system that is remotely controlled through BITS [automatic updates] using the old Sun RPC well known ports and XML code together with Visual Basic scripting. Microsoft can configure any Windows machine to do essentially anything they like. They can and do disregard owner's preferences. They can and do enforce Windows "default" settings [they really ought to change that word from "default" to "mandatory",]
    and they have even become so blatant that in the case of Windows 7, if someone goes to the trouble to switch off even a few of the many annoying "security" features [whom are they seeking to secure? Microsoft shareholder value?] after I finally beat the platform into near submission, I was rewarded by a balloon tip message informing me that "This Copy Of Windows Is Not Genuine!" That, of course, was preposterous unless Toshiba is selling brand new laptops with bogus activation codes [I did say it was preposterous.]
    Speaking as a Firefox user who is not the least bit intimidated by FreeBSD or Linux, I am quite willing to remove Windows from my equipment if that is the price of maintaining control. For better or worse, I demand and will accept no less than absolute "root" operator control over any system I own and use. Microsoft has apparently decided to "protect" me from myself and that means I must instead take steps to protect myself from Microsoft. I do hope the Mozilla team is paying attention to this item. Microsoft is doing something unsavory here. Either they have subverted the Mozilla code base, [for example by perhaps injecting altered DLLs] or they have simply become so brazen that they now think they can use BITS to "push" any configuration changes they want even when those configuration changes are destined to take effect on software that's not a proprietary product of Microsoft.
    The greater societal implications of such entrenched arrogance are nearly overwhelming when one takes a moment or two to contemplate what it means and where it all might be headed. Now is the time to take some affirmative action that will prevent unauthorized changes to user configuration settings. Actually, you are a day late and a dollar short getting started.

  • How to extract 64 bit data from imaq image using IMAQ Extract VI

    I have LV 8.5.1, Vision 8.5 and need to extract 64 bit data from a 64 bit image and I get the "invalid image" error while using the IMAQ Extract VI.  What version of Vision do I need to allow me to do this?
    Currently, the work-around I have...
    1) convert the image to 32bit
    2) use the ROI tools I to get the rectangle data I need
    3) then go back to the original image and the convert the image to a 64 bit array
    4) take the rectangle data to extract the data needed out of the 64 bit array data.
    klunky but it works.  I would think that the IMAQ Extract tool should allow me to extract the 64 bit data but it doesnt... forces me to 32 bit.
    suggestions?

    steve05ram360 wrote:
    awesome, that does work.
    Attached DLL slightly corrected and should be OK also "in place" when Dst is not connected like original IMAQ function. Hopefully it works properly now. By the way all IMAQ types are supported, not only U64.

  • How do I drag and drop multiple objects in a mask?

    I’ve been working on a flash simulator to show what our night vision product would look like in the dark.  I have been successful in making it work with the following code below.  Yet I cannot add a "reticle" image (or symbol) to the draggable mask to make it work.  Can someone help me with the code?  I looked for hours on the internet and I cannot get it to work.  I am new to Flash but am starting to learn as much as I can.
    Actionscript 3 Code:
    img_nv.mask = mask_mc;
    mask_mc.buttonMode = true;
    mask_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, dF);
    stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, dropF);
    function dF(event:MouseEvent):void{
              mask_mc.startDrag();
    function dropF(event:MouseEvent):void{
              mask_mc.stopDrag();

    use a loop (like enterframe) and update the reticle's position to match mask_mc's position.
    mg_nv.mask = mask_mc;
    mask_mc.buttonMode = true;
    // eg, if you add reticle_mc to the stage in the authoring environment
    removeChild(reticle_mc);
    mask_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, dF);
    stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, dropF);
    function dF(event:MouseEvent):void{
    addChild(reticle_mc);
    this.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,reticleF);
              mask_mc.startDrag();
    function dropF(event:MouseEvent):void{
    removeChild(reticle_mc);
    this.removeEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,reticleF);
              mask_mc.stopDrag();
    function reticleF(e:Event):void{
    reticle_mc.x=mask_mc.x;  // assuming they both have the same reg points (like the center)
    reticle_mc.y=mask_mc.y;

  • Invalid color template image

    I try to do patttern matching using IMAQ Vision. Both source and
    template images are .BMP files and are generated in a VB .NET program
    through NI Framegrabber. IMAQ Match Color Pattern gives me the
    following error message:
    Error-1074395384 occurred at IMAQ Match Color Pattern
    Invalid color template image
    Do I have to use .PNG files when doing pattern matching?
    Thanks.

    Hey John123,
    I was wondering what version of Vision that you are using? Have you tried to run any of the example programs, like the ColorPatternMatching example that can be found in the following directory: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Vision\Examples\MSVB.NET\2. Functions\Color Pattern Matching. I was able to run this example program by using .BMP images and not PNG images. So to answer your question, you don't have to use PNG files with this function, you can use Bitmap images. You can use any kind of image that have a 32-bit RGB or HSL bit depth.
    If you are acquiring from a Framegrabber, I would suggest that you double check and make sure that the images that you are getting from your camera are actually 32-bit, and not 16-bit. Also, you could post a couple of your images on this thread, and I could try them out with an example that uses the IMAQ Match Color Pattern function. Try some other BMP images and do you get the same error? Try the example program, and see if that gives you the error with your images. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, and have a great day.

  • UAV to run on LABVIEW ? can it ?

    Hello ..
    We are planning to build a UAV with surveillance system and weapons system ..we are impressed by the way labview works and would like to reduce time by building it with labview...
    However I find some difficulties in exporting code to my processor..These are my questions ..
    1.Can I install LABVIEW on  WINDOWS CE and WINDOWS XP embedded ?
    2 We are using ETXexpress CPU Boards as processors can we use LabVIEW on those boards with SATA drives ?
    3.LabView system onboard has to do image processing ..can it ?
    4.The base station will have LabView as well ..can we have two vis communicating with each other ?
    We dont want compact rio on our UAV because it cannot house a imaging system ? SO dont suggest that ...
     these are some of the basic stuff we need to know to proceed forward ...
    Thank you
    Message Edited by Bharath kumar on 09-15-2008 11:27 AM

    Hi Bharath,
    To answer your first question, you can run applications on Windows CE, we only support ARM or X86 processors but you cannot install LabVIEW on it. With Windows XP Embedded here is a great link on how to get started installing LabVIEW.
    To get you started I want you to go to www.ni.com/vision . This will provide you with information on anything vision related that you would need to get started with our products. But you also have to have answered what kind of vision equipment you are using and is there going to be dedicated hardware just for the vision system? If so what are you going to be using for that.
    For the two vi's communicating to each other, how will they be communicating? What are the devices communicating to each other? These are questions that you have to have answered to figure out what communication protocol you would like to use.
     You also may want to go towards something like blackfin to control your UAV. Found here
    I would suggest looking at these links to better define what you would like to use to control your UAV, Communicate to your UAV, and do image processing on your UAV.

  • Apex on Sourceforge!

    Just ran into Scott's recently blog entry about Apex on Sourceforge!
    http://spendolini.blogspot.com/2006/04/apex-open-source-applications.html
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/oracle-apex/
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=45326:107
    Looks like this is Carl's baby. Way to go, Carl!
    There seems to be 1 fully functional application presently, which is the OTN Forums application. There is a sandbox to play around with at
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=ODF
    The Forums app is fantastic, has all the functionality of the OTN Forum and all source code is available.
    This is a great effort.
    Carl, could you spend some time explaining how you see this progressing? What is your vision, what would you like this to grow into, how much community participation do you expect, etc.?
    Thanks again.

    Hi all,
    Considering that with XE and APEX being free we are 'almost' an Open Source product so starting a coordinated open source project for applications seemed the next logical step.
    A little background on this project, each developer on the APEX team has been tasked to build one or two applications this just happens to be the first one we have built. As each application gets done if there is significant interest in working on it we will release it on sourceforge for collaborative development instead of the Studio. The Studio has been great for getting applications out there but does leave a little to be desired for shared development, we are hoping that this new project changes that.
    Over the next couple weeks as we get the details ironed out we will open up the project for development. We're going to be looking for developers, project administrators etc so if you want to join up get a sourceforge account and mail your sourceforge user name directly to me [email protected]
    This is the first time that I've done something like this I'd absolutely like pointers, tips, criticisms etc on the process so it can be improved. It's not my project I've just probably had the most experience (in our group) dealing with sourceforge, plus everybody had to listen to me rant on and on about how cool it would be so I think they gave me the go ahead just to get me to quite down. Raj has been absolutely awesome in helping me out with this and saving me from myself by making sure I keep the scope to something a mere mortal can actually do, especially considering I still have a day job :) and special thanks to the crew in India that take a first stab at the forum application.
    At the moment what we need most is feedback for features http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=558971 and any bugs http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=162870&atid=825493 that are found in the forum application.
    Thanks,
    Carl

  • Work Order and parent/child relationship

    I have been looking into the vision instance. There is an Asset-Rebuildable relationship, that is Forklif and it's battery. If there is a work order on the forklik "replace battery" can this be done automatically, or is this all manual.
    1. When I pick the new battery from stores the S/N of the battery is associated with the forklif (automatic I tested this)
    2. When I say "remove the old battery" should't the old battery parent/child relationship between the parent be broken and a child work order "charge" for the battery be logged. I could not reproduce that, but queried that this is what happens in vision. Are all these supposed to be manual?
    Regards

    From this plan, we can't easily get the parent child relationship like autotrace. Is there a way to get like autotrace?

  • BT Gave me permission to leave during my contract ...

    Always a but isn't there OK I was not really happy with BT (Had various problems with them messing up billing and so forth) and looking around noticed I could get a lot cheaper elsewhere. So anyway, I was eventually granted my release from BT and got told the contract was more or less torn up and I was "FREE" to leave. Would not be held to my contract or what not (Included vision and broadband) BT sent me letters and bags to return home hub and vision box (which I have) Imagine my surprise though when I see my final bill and notice that I been charged for the rest of my contract for vision and the box (which I have returned) Came to a whopping £219.53 all in. How could I be charged for something when I was told that I could leave for free?

    that the author foresee that J2ME will become obsolete in a couple of years being replaced by regular J2SE/J2EE applications. I'm studying for the SCMAD and this article worried me a bit. Obviouvsly I wouldn't like studying something which is becoming obsolete.
    What's your vision about the future of J2ME?
    Regards,
    Marco

    They are all right. Any technology is bound to become obsolete sooner or later. But at this moment, J2ME is still in it's development stage and for the moment, shows no sign of slowing down. So like the previous person, I would think you'd definitely be able to make use of it before it gets trashed. And technically, no matter if it becomes obsolete, I still do not believe that any learning is wasted.
    And if that doesn't convince you, think about it this way: J2ME is a subset of Java, and even if phones do evolve enough that they are able to support J2SE (which imho, is not going to happen for quite a while.... ), what you do with J2ME will not be gone to waste.
    Programming for mobile devices is quite different. Although knowing Java is a huge advantage, there will definitely be things that need to be implemented on mobiles which are not needed in J2SE. So knowing J2ME gives you a good basis on these special implementations. Besides, after doing some work in J2ME, you'll learn all these optimization techniques that are not as important in our normal PC programming, which will benefit you in any type of programming.
    The question you should ask yourself first is whether you're interested in programming for mobiles. If so, don't let one author's prediction stop you. Personally, I think his prediction is a little ambitious. Mobiles are progressing, but to be able to handle the entire J2SE, for the moment, that's wishful thinking. It will eventually happen, but i don't think it'd be anytime soon.
    Cheers.
