Whats the airport card model of the airport base stations

I have an A1026 airport card from an old ibook G4 that I'm not using. I've seen at ebay some airport base stations without "airport card" is it possible to install my A1026 on an airport base station or they have different cards ?

The A1026 Airport Extreme card was used in the "saucer shaped" Airport Extreme Base Station models.
My advice - don't throw away money buying one of these base stations off EBay. The Airport card inside them was probably cannibalized for a reason - because the card may have been the only thing inside the base station that still worked properly.

  • What is the AirPort Base Station Agent?

I just noticed in my Login Items on one of two computers (MacPro, no Airport card) there is an Application called AirPort Base Station Agent. It is checked to be invisible on opening. On my laptop (with Airport) that Application is not listed in Login Items. I never put it there myself as I don't know what it's for. It is located in System Folder/Core Services of both computers but only listed as a startup item in one of them.
Can anyone explain? Should it be added to the laptop login?

  • My Airport wireless is working for my two MacBook Pros and my daughter's iPod, but our iPad, Iphone and other iPod all say they need to set up an Airport Base Station but do not have the proper software.  I'm not sure what to do to remedy this situation.

My Airport wireless is working for my two MacBook Pros and my daughter's iPod, but our iPad, Iphone and other iPod all say they need to set up an Airport Base Station but do not have the proper software.  I'm not sure what to do to remedy this situation.

This might sound like a silly question, but are you sure the iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch etc.) are still trying to connect to the same network from your own Airport router, as the MacBook Pros are? If you tap Settings on them, is the network name next to where it says Wi-Fi, the right one?
I've got a weird feeling that either in the past couple of days, a neighbour got an Airport device and hasn't set it up yet (causing your iOS devices to try to help), or that perhaps there's an issue with your Airport router and they're noticing it and trying to help out, while for whatever reason, Airport Utility isn't opening itself on the MacBook Pros like it normally should if there's a problem.
If you open Airport Utility on one of the MacBook Pros, does it report any problems with your Airport device, and can you view/edit the settings on it?

  • I deleted Bonjour, since I don't need it for remote printing.  Now I get the message " Airport Base Station has stopped working: and also a message saying APAgent.exe can't be found.  What to do??? Thanks.

I deleted Bonjour since I don't need it for remote printing.  Now on start-up I get the message: "Airport Base Station Agent has stopped working" and also message: "can't find APAgent.exe.:  Do I need AP Agent??  What to do??  Thanks.

The APAgent monitors your AirPort base station and informs you if there are things like firmware updates available. This utility relies on Bonjour, but is not required for base station operation. However, Bonjour makes it easier for your PC to "find" the base station via the AirPort Utility and I would recommend that you keep it installed. If you don't want the APAgent, you can just use the Apple Updater utility (that was also installed when the AirPort Utility was installed) to remove it.

  • Airport Base Station without the airport card

I want to know if an airport base station (snow) will operate as a wired ethernet router if it no longer has an internal airport card.

  • Trying to set up a wireless guest network using Airport base station.  The first network setup was fine but the second one doesn't work.  Any suggestions?

I purchased the new Airport base station that allows for a wireless setup of a primary network and a guest network.  The primary network installation worked great but I cannot get the guest network to work properly.  Any suggestions on how to make it work?

The AirPort base station is designed to connect to a simple modem......not a modem/router or gateway device that is often furnished to users by Internet Service Providers.
So, the first troubleshooting question would be to find out what the make and model of the device that you call your "modem" might be.....to see if you have the right kind of product that will allow the Guest Network to operate correctly.

  • Having problems with one computer not "seeing" the Airport base station.

    Aloha:
I have an Airport router hooked up to the internet via Cable. I have a laptop and G4 desktop talking to the the Airport Base Station via their respective Airport cards. This allows me to get to the internet with both of my computers. This system has worked just fine for several years, but recently my desktop computer has started to be unable to connect to my Airport Base Station. At first it was intermittent, but now it has stopped completely. The laptop continues to be able to get to the internet via my Airport base station.
The desktop is running OS 10.3.9 and the airport card in the desktop passes the hardware test that came with the laptop. But it can no longer see the signal from the ABS.
    What might my problem be?
    Dan

    Hi Clinton:
I have tried that to no avail. I don't see any
signal, so I see no networks "in the box below" to
choose. My airport card does not see a signal, but
the airport card checks out ok in the hardware test.
Thanks for replying, Clinton, much appreciated.
    Dan
Have you tried choosing "other..." and then entering the name of your network?

  • HT1175 how do you set the airport time capsule as the primary base station rather than as a network client?

how do you set the airport time capsule as the primary base station rather than as a network client?

The Time Capsule needs to connect to a simple modem......not a modem/router or gateway type of device that is often furnished by Internet Service Providers.
So, the first logical question here would be......
What is the make and model number of the device that you call your "modem"?

  • My Airport Base Station does not appear in the Airport Admin Utility

I cannot see my airport extreme base station in the Airport Admin Utility nor in Airport Setup Assistant via Airport. It worked yesterday but when I was trying to set up a network something must have changed but I don't know what it is. (The setup didn't work so I am only using one base station right now.) The only way I can configure/reconfigure the base station is by physically connecting via an ethernet cable. Then no problem. I have two computers and neither can access the base station with Airport Admin Utility via Airport. I have installed the latest Airport Update but nothing has changed. What happened?

You should be able to use the second Airport Extreme
Base Station as a wireless print server. What I
    suggest you do is:
    1. run the Airport Admin Utility and clean up
settings on your existing Base Station:
    - under the Airport tab, make sure you have not
selected to "create a closed network"
    - under the Access Control tab, clear out all
    settings
    - under the WDS tab, clear out all settings
    - under the Network tab, make sure the box is checked
to "Distribute IP addresses" and "Share a single IP
    address using DHCP and NAT".
    - update settings to the Base Station if you changed
    anything.
    2. do a hard reset of your second base station per:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107451
    3. for now, put both base stations and the Mac in the
same room. Run the Airport Setup Assistant, and use
its guidance to configure the second base station as
a new base station that "extends" the wireless
network of your main base station.
    That should do it.
Thanks very much. The printer works great from both computers via my second airport base station. And I can see both my base stations in the Airport Admin Utility.

  • I lost my connection with my AirPort Base Station when I upgraded to the OS Maverick.  How can I get my system to recognize the base station again?

I lost my connection with my AirPort Base Station when I upgraded to the OS Maverick.  I can still see the Internet, but the Time Machine cannot backup now because it cannot locate the AirPort base station.  How can I resolve this issue?
Steps already taken with zero success:
    1. Restarted the AirPort Base Station multiple times.
    2. Restarted the Mac Pro multiple times.
    3. Looked online for AirPort update for 6.3.2 version.
Other Apple products in my house can still see the AirPort Base Station, however my Mac Pro and Mac Book Pro cannot.
    Please advise.

That information helps. If you want to use one of the SmartStor's disks as a repository for sharing your iTunes Library, then do not configure that disk as a RAID. Format it with Disk Utility using the Erase tab. Mac OS Extended (Journaled) is the correct choice.
Connect it to your Time Capsule, then use AirPort Utility to configure access requirements for sharing it on your network. It should appear as a shared volume in the Finder, available to all your Macs as you thought it should.
I also thought maybe the extra HD space would be added to the existing Airport Disk.  It isn't.
Correct. There is no way to do that. The only way to increase the capacity of a Time Capsule's hard disk is to replace the Time Capsule (or its disk, if you are amenable to disassembling it) with a larger capacity model.
If you also want to use the SmartStor as a RAID, that is another story, and you should probably attack that problem separately.

  • HT3728 I cannot find the Airport base station

I have lost the connection to the Airport Base station and do not know how to get it back. I have internet through another modem, but need to reset everything back to using the Airport Base station 1TB to connect to the internet and to see my backup files and all my media. I am using a MacBook Air 13" 2012 model. Please can someone assist.

Do a reset on the base station. It will return to default settings and you will then be able to pick it up..
If you had it setup to join a wireless network then it will disappear. Don't use it that way.. Run it bridge or in router mode.
I have to suggest if you have nothing but the air.. do go and get the USB to ethernet dongle.. it is not that expensive.. IMHO access a wireless device by wireless to fix wireless settings, is like the cartoons where the person is sitting on the tree branch sawing it off. When you change the wireless settings you then lose connection.. it is much better using ethernet.

  • Can you reset the password for my airport base station?

I am trying to connect my Airport Extreme to my new modem and i need to open the Airport utility to see what the problem is however i do not have the password to the Airport base station.  Apparently it is not the wireless password that i set previously set up.

If you have a Mac that can connect to your wireless network and you're using an Apple AirPort Base Station, then simply use AirPort Utility. From the Base Station menu, select Show Passwords...
If you don't have a Mac, reset your wireless network password by momentarily depressing the reset button on your AirPort Extreme, Express, or Time Capsule. Press the button for one full second, no more. Then, configure a new password using AirPort Utility.
If you can't connect to your wireless network, or you are not using an Apple AirPort Base Station, you can use the procedure that follows below to retrieve it from your Mac's Keychain.
Your wireless network password is stored in your Mac's Keychain.
You must first have an Administrator account on a Mac that you use with that AirPort Base Station, one that is used to connect to your AirPort network.
On that Mac, open the Utilities folder. Find Keychain Access and launch it.
In the search field at the upper right, type Airport. All the Keychain entries for your base station will appear there, as well as other entries.
Look at the column "Kind". The entry you want to select will be labeled "AirPort network password" (not "AirPort base station password" or anything else).
If you are trying to recover the AirPort Base Station password then the entry you want to select will be labeled "AirPort base station password" not "AirPort network password".
Double-click that, and in the window that appears check the box for "Show password".
You will get the following window:
In the Password field type your Mac's Administrator password - the same one you used to log in to that Mac.
Then, click Allow, and your wireless network password will appear in the "Show password" field:
    Make note of it.
Close the window, then quit Keychain Access.

  • HT1178 Can I just use my airport express as the primary base station and the time capsule as the network client?

I bought a new airport time capsule 3tb to be used to save to file all my pictures. Can I use it as network client and the airport express as the
    Primary base station?

To my opinion this looks a bit like what I'm looking for.
At the moment I have an Imac that is wireless connected to a 2TB time capsule (TC1).
To this time capsule I have another 2TB time capsule (TC2) connected via a upt wire connection.
At the moment there is a backup made via time machine from the Imac to the time capsule TC1 (the second TC is not used)
I'm not so technical so I hope you understand the configuration.
What do I want to achieve :
copy all my data from the Imac to TC1 so that the information can be accessed by more users.
create an automatic backup from TC1 to TC2 (mirror or raid system) for security.
give access to some users on the network to access TC1 to read and write data.
TC2 only serves as backup from TC1 and no direct access is needed to this disk.
If there is a solution, thanks for explaining it in 'IT kindergarden style' so that I can understand and use the info.
    Many thanks in advance.

  • Do I need an 'apple airport base station' to use the internet on my macbook?

I'm considering getting a refurbished Macbook Air next week, which will be my first Mac computer ever, and I was watching some of the introduction videos.
    http://www.apple.com/findouthow/mac/#wirelessbasics
'Wireless Basics' - At about 0:55 seconds in, it says something about needing what sounds like an 'apple airport base station' to connect my Macbook to the internet here in my home. I currently have an HP laptop that easily connects to our Wi-Fi. I actually need some additional 'apple airport base station' thing to connect to the internet? I can't just connect like our Wi-Fi PC laptops do? Tell me I'm hearing this wrong, because I can't afford some additional 'base station' on top of an expensive Macbook, refurbished or not.

Any WiFI basestation should work but there are two caveats. First, configuring non-Apple basestations is more confusing for newbs than the AirPort is. Second, upgrading firmware can be a real pain for some 3rd party bases - they don't tend to let users know the updates exist and many require a PC to install.

  • "No configured AirPort base stations have been found."  I can see the content of the TimeCapsule's drive in finder and Time Machine but it no longer is making backups. Ideas?

Bought new TimeCapsule March 2013. Worked fine. Now get "No configured AirPort base stations have been found."  I can see the content of the TimeCapsule's drive in finder and Time Machine but it no longer is making backups. Ideas?

Make sure that you have AirPort Utility 6.3.1 installed on your Mac.
AirPort Utility 6.3.1 for Mac - Support - Apple
Then, power off the entire network...all devices...in any order that you want
Wait a minute, then start the modem first and let it run a full minute
Start the next device connected to the modem, which may be your Time Capsule and let it run a minute
Keep starting devices one at a time the same way until the entire network is back up
See if AirPort Utility can "see" the Time Capsule now.
If yes, try another backup. If you encounter an error message, post back with the exact message.
