Whats the flap for on the official ipad case

I just cant figure out what use this would be for and just seems to get in the way?
Also Im not exactly sure how to hold the iPad when its in the case. Do I fold the other side of the case behind the ipad and use it like that? I wish it was more compact and and the case wasnt so flappy?

The air is different dimensions from other iPads, so look for cases made specifically for it. I know that Targus has some, so does Zagg and i'm sure other manufacturers do as well.

Here's the thicknesses: iPad 1 - 0.5", iPad 2 - 0.34", iPad 3 - 0.37"
So an iPad 3 would fit loosley in an iPad 1 case. However, the iPad 1 doesn't have a camera, so no camera hole in the case. The iPad 3 camera opening in the case may need to be somewhat larger than the iPad 2 camera hole. Unless it's form fitting, I think most iPad 2 cases may fit the iPad 3, but it may be tight.
For my iPad 2, I bought an Adesso case/keyboard model WKB-2000CD http://www.adesso.com/en/component/content/article/49-coming-soon/455-wkb-2000cd .html Works great & looks good. The keyboard is easier to use than Apple's on-screen keyboard. Do a Google search using the model number to get the best price. About the same price as Apple's covers & it covers the whole iPad. Although the new iPad is slightly thicker, it should fit this case.

What is the sturdiest iPad case?

I am looking for a case for an iPad 4.
I would like it to be sturdy and hopefully have some kind of stand, since my special needs boys (10 & 13) will be using them at home and at school.

Check out Otterbox. I dont have an iPad case but I did have an iPhone and iPod touch Cases. the iPod case lasted for 5 plus Years. The iPhone case was built very similarly, but I can't vouch for it as the phone failed. The iPad cases look like the are built like tanks. They also appear to have a stand. Also check out the ilounge web site. They do lots of reviews.

i have a panasonic hdc-sd90 camcorder and my current laptop is woefully underpowered to run any of the hd editing software so i have been thinking of an upgrade and this seems to be a good reason to do so. I also am self employed and require software that i can do basic invoicing on a spreadsheet. I like the idea of portablilty so the ipad is appealing but i don't know if it is powerful enough to enable me to edit my home movies adequately, plus the exporting issues that seem to come with the ipad (although i have heard there are apps you can get that help with this and printing documents as well from the ipad would be an advantage) If the new ipad is not able to edit the home movies then what mac book would be best for my needs?

I'm currently a junior in high school and I'll be graduating in the summer of 2015. My parents, well mostly dad, are planning on buying me the iPad air with 128 GB of memory. I got curious and went to look at the price and compare models and I saw that the iPad mini with retina display was the same as the iPad air, the only difference is the size. Since I saw that it was cheaper I was thinking on telling my parents to buy me that instead of the iPad air because it is more costy and my family isn't really the rich kind of people. I will be only using the iPad for school and nothing else since I have my iPod to play games on and stuff so it will only be used for purely educational purposes. Plus I've been hearing around that the iPad air is not that great and stuff because it has a bigger screen and such. Personally for me, I do not care about the screen size I just care about the price for my parents' sake because I don't like it when they have to spend a lot of money. So can you please help me decide on which to get and why it would be better than the other? Please and thank you.

Removing iPad from the Apple iPad Case

It was easy enough to get the iPad into the case, but I can't get it out of the case. Cutting it out of the case really does not seem to be a reasonable method.
What gives?

Easiest way I know:
A. Open up the 'locking flap'.
B. Using thumb & fingers,peel the cover's right edge, along right side of the iPad, out and down to expose the side of the iPad.
C. Holding case with fingertips, gently start pressing the iPad out using your thumbs. Work gently, using even pressure, and it slides right out.

If that's the case, then it makes lot more sense than simply buying the iPad 4 for the sake of having the latest and greatest new device.
As for the iPad Mini, that would be a downgrade and would make no sense in terms of what the two devices have to offer. My opinon only ..... but I believe that Apple wanted to release a smaller and less expensive "entry level" tablet device to take away some of the luster of the Galaxy Tab, the Kindle Fire and the B&N Nook which are smaller, less expensive devices. The Mini is still a great device, but its a downgrade for the iPad 3, that's all.
I have fooled around with the iPad 4 quite a few times at my local Best Buy Store and it is faster than the iPad 3. I cannot speak about the quality of the camera, I didn't try that, so I don't know anything more about it other than what the Apple iPad spec website claims. If you can get a good price for the iPad 3, and you really want to upgrade the device, then go ahead and do it. You would be as up to date with all of the Apple devices at that point as you could be. I personally would stay away from the Mini, that's all.

I have an INVISION smart case for my iPad 2 that I have transferred over to my New iPad and it doesn't turn off the screen (it doesn't turn it on if is already off either) I was really pleased with it on the iPad 2 as it worked flawlessly
As its not the official iPad smart cover I guess it isn't supported
I chose this cover as it also covers the back of the iPad too. I guess I'll have to wait for a new design, so what the seller said is probably correct
