Whats the max range in real life

My question, what's the max range of an AirPort Extreme REALLY - I don't mean in a lab or on paper. But in real life w/ walls and such... Would like to know for G/N networks. I'm just looking at buying 2 Airport Extremes and having one "extend" the connection the network, so I'd like to know how far could I place the two apart while maintaining a reasonable speed.
Also, how much would the connection be effected by metal walls (ie commercial walk-in refrigerators)

LaFramboise:
I've spent some weeks trying to figure out your question for a real-life answer. It just not helps to now that in "LAB" conditions you´ll get a 100-mile range when you discover that in "real life" a simple tree + a wall will kill it.
I just moved to a new apartment 2 blocks from my office and I happen to have line of sight to my office window from my apartment, except for a robust tree that initially played some weird jokes on my reception.
Using 2 Airpor Xtreme stations, I managed to establish a very decent wireless network, allowing my house to use my office internet access (which I also pay, son why pay double ISP).
The distance between these two Xtremes is AT LEAST 328 feet (100 meters) and no more that 492 feet (150 meters). It's a 2 block distance. I pass a tree almost right in front of my apartment window, so I really dont have a cristal clear view on both airports. This sounds really great...
INSIDE my apartment, distribution of space is kinda weird: a shoe-box apartment with a center corridor all along the house. Thing is that funny, I have One Aiport Xtreme (as main receiver for the internet access) and I have 1 Aiport express in the same room of the Xtreme for music sharing, another Airport in the room next door (studio) also for music sharing. Problem is that due to my apartmen config I can't get a third airport express to connect from the living room which is in the other side of the apartment. I tell you my sad story because it is extremely hard to determine range. I have a two block connection on one side, and because of walls, etc, I cant hook to the other end of my apartment wirelessly. I already started to consider a ethernet cable to connect them. Can you imagine the CAT5 running all across my apartment?.

  • Is there a C version that does what the MAX 1-D Interactive does?

Is there a C version that does what the MAX 1-D Interactive does?  Or a solution to the problem below.
I got the MAX 1-D Interactive to work with my stepper motor.  The hardware setup is at the bottom.
I am trying to write a C program in Visual Studio 2010 to control a stepper motor. I found an example program called 1D Straight Line Move.c in
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-Motion\Documentation\Examples\NI-Motion Help\C
I copied the example file and the needed .h, .c and .lib files into a Visual Studio project.  I changed the velocity, acceleration, and deceleration to match the values in the MAX 1-D Interactive.  The solution builds, but when I run it I get the following error message
Run-Time Check Failure #0 - The value of ESP was not properly saved across a function call.  This is usually a result of calling a function declared with one calling convention with a function pointer declared with a different calling convention.
    Setup:
I am running the latest NI Motion Software.
PXI-7334 connected to UMI-7774 using I/O Motion cable
UMI-7774 connected to P70360 Stepper Driver using control cable
    P70360 Stepper Driver connected to NEMA 23 (T21NRLC) using Orange (A-), Black (A), Yellow (B-), Red (B)
NEMA 23 is powered by 120V AC power supply
P70360 Stepper Driver is set using DIP Switches (I tried to use the P7000 software tool that came with it, but it never found the driver):

No I am not using Visual C++ MFC.  I am using an empty C++ project in Microsoft Visual Studio 2010. Although I eventually want to create a .exe file from this project so I'll have change project type.
The motor runs using MAX to control it.
It did run using the 1D Straight Line Move.c project, but it gave me the below errors.  That night I unplugged it because the stepper motor gets hot.  The next day MAX still moves the motor but the 1D Straight Line Move.c project doesn’t and I still get the errors below.
I am getting two errors:  (I was getting the same errors yesterday)
Run-Time Check Failure #2 - Stack around the variable 'errorCode' was corrupted.
Run-Time Check Failure #0 - The value of ESP was not properly saved across a function call. This is usually a result of calling a function declared with one calling convention with a function pointer declared with a different calling convention.
I think the errors come from using the functions in flexmotn.h.  The functions look like they are being used correctly, but I can't find where they are defined.  They are probably defined in FlexMS32.lib.
I attached the files I am using.
I haven’t tried any of the other examples.  1D Straight Line Move.c looks like the simplest and closest to what I want to do.

  • Mid 2012 13.3" macbook pro whats the max HZ(fps)

i play allot of games on my mid 2012 13.3" macbook pro i play them all a 60Hz(60 fps) what is the max i can set it too with out damaging the display my friend have some monitors that use 125Hz they say that would damahe my screen i what to know what is recommended

All 13" MBPs only have the built in Intel graphics so you are very limited as to what FPS you can run games at.
As far as the Hz screens run at that has no baring on game play. All flat screen monitors use the 60Hz setting but it really doesn't matter on LCD/LED screens. That is really a Refresh rate for CRT monitors that had to Redraw the screen from top to bottom, bottom to top but with LCD/LED the whole screen is refreshed at once, IE no scanning like on older TUBE CRT monitors.

  • Can someone pls explain what the Dynamic Range setting does?

    Hello All,
In the STB's Audio menu there's an option for Dynamic Range.  The available settings for Dynamic Range are None, Light, or Heavy.   I'm not noticing any difference in the sound regardless of the option chosen.   What is this option supposed to do?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_range gives you a bit of a winded explantion of what it is.  In a nutshell dynamic range is the difference between the quietest and loudest sound.
I beleive the dynamic range setting is designed is to help users that have a certain connections (eg HDMI) deal with fluctationing volume.  Heavy compresses the highs and lows to a narrower range, light uses less compression and none of course is no change.  If you have trouble hearing some channels and commercials are loud you might want to try heavy.  Keep in mind that heavy distorts audio the most and none the least.
My audio system is a Pioneer Amp with a Polk 5.1 speaker system.  I've noticed no difference but to be fair I don't think I've tried it under condtions that I would notice it.  In addition I'm currently using an optical connection for my audio which apparently doesn't change with dynamic range.

  • What the max HDD size my Motherboard can take?

    I got these specs:

It it not mentioned on the mainsite :-/

    Hello Erwin!
As it normally is the same BIOS for them, I think this might help:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=131
    "On-Board IDE
    • An IDE controller on the VIA® VT82C686B Chipset provides IDE HDD / CD-ROM with PIO,
Bus Master and Ultra DMA 33/66/100 operation modes. "
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/bios/bos/spt_bos_detail.php?UID=131&kind=1
    BIOS, update version 4.4
"-Support HDD Size larger than 137GB"
Hmm, how can you see if you have succesfully updated to version 4.4? because I am not sure if I did it right
Also it supports HDD larger than 137gb, does it support up to a 300 gb?

  • Whats the max RAM that will work in a Wallsteet 250Mhz?

I know Apple says 192mb and I read on Mactracker 512Mb. Are there any restrictions, i.e. the bottom slot? Will it take 1 gig?

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but on the "new" RSS layout of the forums, I cannot find any way to post a new topic ! There is no button or link to do so.
My question is related though. I set up my wife on my old Wallstreet 300Mhz using wireless connection to do email, and I am so used to working on a G5, I forgot how slow a G3 is by comparison. The unit only has 128 OEM Ram on it and I see on ebay 512 upgrades for about $50. My wife was complaining about the loading time of the emails.
I'm wondering if she would see an appreciable speed boost if I upped the memory to the max?
Anyone have any ideas? The wireless connections seems good and solid.
    Thanks
    Jeff

  • Whats the typical range of the airport express? Can I use a single unit for a 3,000sq ft house.

My iPad 2 has serious back light bleeding. What should I do? I think its getting worse too.

To address your subject question: the range of the express could extend over a 3,000 sq ft house if the conditions, placement, etc. are ideal.  Plaing the Express in the center, or close to the center, of the house would give the broadest coverage area.  But, things like construction material, wiring, other appliances will all have an impact on the signal strength around the house.  You would probably be better served using an Extreme since it has significantly more radiated power (23 dBm vs 15 dBm for the Express) and will be able to tolerate the signal attenuation better.
If tow Expresses, then spacing them so each covers about half of the house would be a decent approach.  But again, the construction of the house, and interfering equipment have to be considered.

  • Does anyone know what the max file size is?

I'm just curious, because I want a portable music player that can play audio files in excess of 150mb (wav files) and am wondering if the 5G ipods can handle such files without skipping.

There is no maximum file size.
The 5th Gen iPods can play full length movies, in excess of 500mb. It won't have any trouble playing a large WAV file.
Skipping won't be an issue... but you can be sure that your battery life will suffer a bit. If the file size is larger than the iPods buffer (which I believe is 64mb on the 5th Gen), then the hard disk will spin constantly throughout the playback of the track. This will put a strain on the battery.

  • Whats the max. Resolution for Photos on the IPAD?

I would like to show 6048x4032 JPEG photos to my clients on the ipad. Is the ipad capable to scroll through these fast and will it let me zoom in if I want to show more detail? Thanks!

I have a number of 5616X3744 jpeg photos imported from iphoto.
They scroll very well zooming works very well also.
Your size is a bit larger, but I suspect the results would be satisfactory.
If your photos are grouped in various events in Iphoto they import the same way, which is quite handy also.

  • What is the max resolution the MacBook can drive on an external display?

    Hi everyone,
I want to hook my my MacBook up to an external display, and I'm wondering what the max resolution it can drive is.
Is it different depending on whether I'm hooking up to a VGA display via the Mini-DVI to VGA adapter or to a DVI display via the Mini-DVI-DVI-D adapter?
    Thanks!
    Dave

The MacBook can drive an external display at a maximum resolution of 1920 by 1200. More information is available on this page.

  • What is the max mp4 file size?

Does anyone know what the max mp4 file size that can be imported into iTunes for sync with ATV is?

    RichSolNuv wrote:
I got HandBrake to work. What settings do you recomment for ATV? When I used the Apple Tv setting it worked pretty quick and I could view the file in iTunes, but it would not import into ATV. I got a message saying it was not playable on ATV. The "Normal" setting (h.264) seems to work good. I did a few minutes of a movie and it looks good and works with ATV, but it seems to take a lot longer (hours).
With Handbrake 0.9.1, always select "Apple TV" under the "Presents" column on the right side of the window. When you say it is "not playable on ATV" do you mean by streaming or syncing or both?

  • What is the capture  range of the snowball and the nessi usb mic ?

anyone knows the max range to capture voice with these usb mic, or any other.  it is to records Church Sunday's messages, my audi booth is at the far back of the church. it would be so much easier if apple would equip their product with an audio in, then i would just need a audio cable from the comptuter to the sound console, but they don't so i need another solution.
i would welcome other not too expensive solution
    thanks
    Rob Mongeau

It depends on the quality you need. The iMic would give you about the same quality as the built-in audio input of an earlier Mac. If you want a more professional quality input, or something with a more rugged jack than the 3.5mm jack in the iMic, something like the Lexicon Alpha or M-Audio M-Track might be worth looking at. There are higher-end devices available, but those might be overkill for capturing chuch services.
