Whats the process ESSSVR.exe ?
Hi what exactly is this procecess ESSSVR.exe
if i am not wrong then this is the process which is executed when essbase calculates anything or rather executes any script or HBR
and when the calc is getting executed it takes up the memory but when the calc is supposed to end its supposed to free the memory right ?
but when i check the processes in the task manager there seems to be a process with the this name although the memory isnt increasing on it but its still there but i havent executed any calc in two days time
i have noticed it earlier as well but didnt pay much heed to it but today i was loading some data and it gave an error message saying that the system resources are full and then i checked and found out that this process is still there and holds a memory of 1.6 GB and there are 3 more processes with same name but the memory acquire by them is not much
i have checked and no process is being executed in the entire essbase .
Please help ?

If you have set your caches too high then it is possible they will try to use more memory than is available on your system.
There is some good information provided by JohnB on this post around caches - Re: Index Cache, Data Cache

I opened the task manager and noted that the process "firefox.exe" appears and desappear after 5 seconds. I tried to start mozilla in safe mode but the problem remains. The only way to use mozilla in my computer is restarting the windows in safe-mode. Last thing: i already tried to reinstall the program. Please help me!
I'm also using Windows 7 on a Lenovo U310 laptop.

In the closure of Adobe, the process remains active and takes too much resource processor.
Expected results:The process AdobRd32.exe has to be correctly closed.I'm not sure on a Mac, but when I have this issue, I simply kill the thread (task-manager/processes/select the process, kill thread)
I have had no ill effects doing this.
It is my belief, it is the cloud, since they have a dcc connection, you can disconnect from the cloud, close everything, and the cloud is still connected to you. This is a feature of their update process I suppose.(speculation) Additionally, I remember reading somewhere this issue was due to applying administrative permission at the instigation of the installation. (which I do allow *some* trusted companies to have this so updates can be applied during my downtime. )
I have never had any overt issues after killing the thread and I have done that many times.
Hope this helps -
I've had 5 machines the past two days, that have randomly restarted in the morning. All of my GPO's are configured to prevent reboots from Windows Updates. All 5 machines have up to date Anti-Virus, have ran a combofix with nothing found, and
have been forcefully rebooted at least once (most twice). I'm hoping to find the root cause, so I can prevent it from occurring on any other machines in our environment.
Also, sometimes on the seconds reboot the users see a:

If I update to the new software on my pc, for some reason I can't then update my phone software. What Ive had to do the past few times is go the the Apple Store and have them load the new iTunes on my phone for me but then that means I lose all my pics. I dont remember how I used to get my photos from my phone to my itunes but i know i used to be able to. I think I lost some of my options. Does anyone know what this could be? I want to make a custom persona, but none of the info I find on the web actually states where or how persona packages are actually stored on a Vista/Win7 PC. I'm using FF 6 and 7beta. Where the heck are custom persona stored while they are disabled?
See also:

A Persona consists of two images.<br />
One large image (lightweighttheme-header, 3000x200) for the toolbars at the top and a smaller (lightweighttheme-footer, 300x100) for the footer that are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder.
The list of installed personas is stored in prefs.js in the Firefox Profile Folder in the lightweightThemes.usedThemes pref in JSON object format ({"id":"#","name":"xxx",...}).

The first entry of that pref is the currently used persona.<br />

All other personas are loaded from the server if you choose another persona. -
Debugging java.exe (running in a browser) results in the process dying
This question applies to java.exe when ran in the context of a web browser (tested with both IE and Firefox). That is, a java.exe process started as a result of an applet being loaded.
When I attach to the java.exe process using a debugger (such as OllyDbg or Windbg) but don't resume the process within a few seconds when I do resume it the process (java.exe) terminates. It seems like there is something checking to see whether java.exe is responsive and signalling it should terminate if not. What I'm trying to figure out is whether that is a 'feature' of the JVM/java.exe or perhaps the browser process.
Any help is appreciated.

It would be very nice to be able to develop a single

CE: Process jstart.exe stopps after reboot
Hello,
Recently I have installed the newest trial version of CE7.1. After finishing the installation procedure I followed the installation manual (which means that I could use CE). Now I have rebootet my System (WinXP SP3) and whenever I try to start CE the Process jstart.exe (work 0) stopps after some seconds. Below I have copied the log. What makes me wonder is the fact, that the process had worked perfectly after the installation.
I hope there is someone who can help me,
Thomas

How to view the process in oracle is running?
Hi!
i'm writing a procedure. That takes 15 mins to complete. Now, i want to check whether the process is running or the process is hanged or some other problem occurs. Is there any command from sql prompt that shows the status?
Waiting for your reply.
Thanks.
Satyaki De.If the process completes (in 15 minutes), how can it be hanging? :-)
Hanging is along the lines of waiting forever on a fast object reuse enqueue... sigh
The view I usually use are:
- v$session_event to give me an idea what the session is doing
- v$session_wait to tell me what the session is waiting for on right now (and how long has it been waiting)
- v$session and v$sqltext to tell me what the current active SQL is (if applicable)
- and if there is a SQL, looking at v$sql_plan for the execution plan
But then there can also be nothing really wrong with the SQL for example, but how it is used. E.g. PL/SQL code does multiple passes through the same data set. In which case also have a look at v$sess_io to see what the I/O is like. A 100% cache hit ratio should set off a fe alarm bells. Or having a look at v$sesstat at the session statistics.
There is no single view or single query that can tell you "here, this is the problem!".
You need to look at at WHAT the process is doing and then determine which of these could be the problem. And it may turn out that the problem is in the actual logic of the process and not the way the process is executed. -
Questioning the process to update tax code "rates"
I am not clear on what the process should be for updating the tax code rates. I would like to know how other entities perform this re-occurring process. My questions are... must the rate updates be transported/imported or entered directly using FTXP? Who in the organization is/should be responsible for updates? Aren't the rates considered master data? How often are the rates updated? If a transport is required, shouldn't the person entering the updates differ from the person doing the import into a client?
must the rate updates be transported/imported or entered directly using FTXP?
Yes you can enter manually also.
Who in the organization is/should be responsible for updates?
Anybody in Finance who is taking care of taxes
Aren't the rates considered master data?
Yes
How often are the rates updated?
There is no fixed thumb rule for this. As and when a new requirement (different tax structure) comes, and if the same is not available in the existing tax codes, it has to be created.
thanks

Hello once again, today we had a strange issue. It appears that a plugin for Office Pro Plus 2013 or indeed Office itself initiated a restart of the Remote Desktop Server it was installed on. This is obviously not an ideal situation as it ends up terminating
sessions of all users that are connected to the server.
This is the text from the Event Log:
The process msiexec.exe has initiated the restart of computer XXXXXXXXX on behalf of user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for the following reason: No title for this reason could be found
Reason Code: 0x80030002
Shutdown Type: restart
Comment: The Windows Installer initiated a system restart to complete or continue the configuration of 'Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013'.
The Event ID is 1074 / Source is User32 /
Is there a way to prevent this happening in future.Hello Dave,
I started having the same issue on our Remote Desktop Server, Windows 2008 R2 with Office Pro Plus 2013 connecting to O365 mailboxes. The server has been set up for months and only started this behaviour. When I trawled through the logs and found
the entry you list I also checked the application log at the same time. In the Application log I found an entry with source MsiInstaller and event id 11728 detailing that an install was in progress. I could see on the Geenral TAB of this entry
that a single user had initiated this install. It should be noted that the user was not an Administrator, however they were new. When I logged on as the user and opened outlook it did come up with a window saying it was completing the install and
asked them to reboot. It does this every time you open outlook unless you open it in safemode.
I tried a number of things to fix it:
1. Disable add-ins. (No effect)
2. Reset outlook profile. (No Effect)
3. Deleted user profile from the Remote Desktop Server, renamed the relevant profile in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList" and renamed the folder in "c:\users". (No effect)
My next step was going to be to delete the users profile completely. Before I did that I created a new test user and logged on to see if it was affecting all new users. I logged on with the user and it did not have a problem.
Strangely now when I log on as the original user having the issue the problem is gone.
I will monitor the situation, but at the moment it is fixed.

Need to close the process.
It does take Firefox a while to shut down; it has to update some databases. But it should take less than a minute.
In the support article, this problem is called a "hang at exit" because Firefox hangs when shutting down. Maybe something here will help: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+hangs#Hang_at_exit
Also, sometimes open Firefox windows disappear from the Task Bar. You can use Alt+Tab to switch to them if they remain open. -
I was trying to make sure that all my Apple software was uninstalled, and I still can't remove C:\Program Files\iPod\. I went to the Task Manager and it is not listed in the Processes tab. What do I do now?
Are you looking for iPodService.exe?
Might be better to run services.msc from the run dialog and shut down the service polietly.
