Whats the purpose of the AutoSupport email?
I get an AutoSupport email from my device each week with all its tech info but whats the actual point of this email?
Ive searched the knowledge base but that doesnt explain it.
So does anyone actually use it?
Hi,
Article : http://tinyurl.com/2vkhca
The AutoSupport email is sent to IronPort, as well as any locally configured users, and is used for troubleshooting purposes.
You can always remove the local recipients if you'd rather not receive it.
To configure AutoSupport:
1. Choose System Administration > Alerts.
2. Click Edit Settings.
3. Enable the option "Send copy of weekly AutoSupport reports to System Information Alert recipients."
The AutoSupport email will be sent to the recipient emails listed in the "System" column on the Alert page.

What is the purpose of the icloud email address?
I am considering disabling it because it is the top email address on the dropdown when I compose a new email. If I forget to change it, the email gets lost in neverneverland (which is a whole new question-where does it go and how can I access this account other than on the "mail" function).
So my original question is, if I disable it, will it affect the rest of my incoming and outgoing email on my mac and/or my phone in any way??Welcome to the Apple Community Steven.

No.
You can also set the default address (the one that gets used by default) in your mail settings/preferences. -
i bought adobe Photoshop CC but didnt get serial number or verification email, whats the problem?
Hello Nikoloz,
first of all you should have a look there: https://www.adobe.com/account.html >>> see My productsView all >>> These registered products are associated with your Adobe ID. >>> Name >>> Serial number
If not successful use http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html >> see comments
On the other hand: Did you purchase your product from these firms like Amazon? If yes, this is not a serial number, only a code with which you can request a serial number from Adobe. Please have a look at http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html. (Start here: How did you purchase your product?)
The following part, so I just see at least, ceased to exist on my Adobe website, everything takes place in the link from above. I leave it as an info yet, it might still fit for you. For this purpose, please click your way through to your Adobe Store and find the button "Get Serial Number". Fill in the form and after a while you will get the real serial number.
Good luck!

An answer to a similar question on this said they (they not specified as to who) needed to enable two things POS or something and I have no idea what that means. Is it even possible to make it my default mail if it's Microsoft exchange?
If you're simply referring to adding a mail account that uses an IMAP server, the short answer is yes, it will work. What did you mean by default email? You can setup multiple mail accounts so you shouldn't have to worry about a default mail account. To setup additional accounts (or delete for that matter), you can go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendar>Select the Account (Delete) or Add Account.
What is your mail provider? Often you can contact your IT department, or if it's a common mail server, googling will find the server relatively easily (ie: gmail: 'Google' 'imap server for gmail'). If, by default mail, you mean your Apple ID, yes you can also create an Apple ID that uses an IMAP associated email address. Your Apple ID can pretty much be any email address as long as you have access to it to confirm the account's creation. -
What would happen if I were to delete the primary email address linked to my Apple ID?
I wish to completely de-activate my @hotmail email address in order to be left with just my @icloud email address becuase I would find life more managable that way.
I found out that I cannot change my primary @hotmail email address linked to my Apple ID with an @icloud email address as it is an active, separate Apple ID (in itself with a separate purchase / download history etc)...
Also I am aware that separate Apple ID's cannot be merged together...
My question is: "What would happen if I were to delete the primary email address linked to my Apple ID?"
Would I be able to keep and use my purchases, provided they are backed up on my Mac and authorised?
Would I be able to update those transferred purchases even though the email address linked to the apple ID in which the app was bought no longer exists? You can change the primary e-mail address associated with your Apple ID, so long as it isn't a mac, me or icloud email.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5621
Your Apple ID account, regardless of the primary email, can never be 'deleted', just abandoned.
You could always just switch between the two Apple IDs as needed, to access the different purchases. -
we are trying to open a apple ID acc for my daughters IPod touch.I have a apple ID acc with my IPhone. It wont let us us use the same email ( she doesnt have one) but wont let us us a fake one. What do we do?
The only way to get an apple ID is to have an email account you've never used before. The only thing you can do is make her an email.

i chamged my account on i tunes ,and i had a new email ,and it working fine when i purchase and when i log in to i tunes ,but everytime i need to press on update button it takes me to the old e mail and account ,what should i do.
Why am I sometimes asked to verify my Apple ID by email?
When you create a new Apple ID or make certain changes to your account, Apple will require you to sign in by following the link in a verification email. This is to help protect your identity and keep your account secure. Some Apple services, such as FaceTime and GameCenter, require email validation.
How do I verify my Apple ID by email?
Simply follow the link in the verification email that says "Verify Now." Sign in with your current Apple ID and password, then click Verify Address. You can also verify by signing in at My Apple ID. You'll receive an email prompting you to verify. -
How do I remove an email address that is no longer vaild for the iTunes Store or my iPhone? A really old email address keeps popping up on my iPhone, the email address is not valid and I have no idea what the password was. It's been over two years.
Hello tcnolen1,
It sounds like you are trying to change the Apple ID logged into the iTunes & App Stores on your iPhone. Use these steps:
Changing your Apple ID account
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores, then tap the Apple ID signed in.
Sign out of the current Apple ID account and then sign in with another account or create a new Apple ID.
You can find the full article here:
iOS: Changing the signed-in iTunes Store Apple ID account

My email address was phished and I had to delete it completely. That was the one I used to download all my original apps on my computer. I have since changed to a new address, but since my apps were under the old one, I cannot update them without logging into the old address. It no longer exists....so how do I fix this?
Some of the apps I don't really care about updating but, I did download the new Mountain Lion and it wants to update my iphots and I can't do it.
Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!Hi joaroa,
When you say you deleted your email and changed it completely, those are actually two different things, and it sounds like you are talking about your Apple ID, not just your email, (because you speak of making purchases with it).
If you changed your Apple ID (preferred, How to change the name you use for your Apple ID), then you would not have another Apple ID and all of your purchases would still be with your only Apple ID, it would just be renamed to your new email address.
If you instead created a new Apple ID (with a different email address) then of course you have two different Apple IDs and the old one still exists and is probably active. Just because you may not use an email address anymore, that doesn't mean an Apple ID of the same name is inactive, Apple IDs aren't deleted. If you start purchasing Apps with your new Apple ID, it can really cause confusion because, as you see, you need to be logged into the Apple ID that purchased an App to update it. It would be best to stick with one Apple ID for purchases, probably the one you have spent the most money with. Remember, unless it's an @mac or @me Apple ID you can rename them rather than creating yet another Apple ID. Since Apple IDs can't be merged or deleted, creating more can be a messy.
If you don't remember what the password is for a particular Apple ID, you can visit iforgot.apple.com where you can reset it, the AppleConnect password. If the Apple ID is no longer a valid email address, you can use the security question method to reset the password instead.
Unless you have made a lot of purchases with your new Apple ID, I'd recommend moving back into your old one, especially if that has the most or the most expensive apps with it. If your new Apple ID is the "name/email" you want to use, you could rename the new one to a secondary email, then rename your old Apple ID to your preferred name/email. Basically, rename the new one to something else which frees up that name (email) to rename your old Apple ID. Thus your old Apple ID has the new name. See My Apple ID. The "Manage your account" link is where you can rename the ID itself.
Sorry about getting long winded here, but it's important to keep as few Apple IDs as possible, at least when it comes to purchases. If an Apple ID is undesired, rename it rather than creating a new one. It will be much simpler in the long run.
Let us know how it goes.

Why is apple not providing information on what the problem withe email is and what they are doing to fix, along with a time frame for fixing the problem.
It was because the problem was major. If you do not know tech, you should know that a two day outage usually indicates some type of virus, hack, or a bad software load that they had to unravel. The common way to solve that is to rebuild servers and put back into service. That takes time.
Apple did not want to admit this problem. My guess at this stange was that they loaded new software that might be associated with the new IOS and it crashed. To reveal this would be to cast into doubt their future revenue.
Either way. Run do not walk away from Icloud products and services. Apple has demonstrated they can not be a business partner.
