Whay has my apple id reverted to an old one since I downloaded mavericks

Can't use my apple id ive been using for last 6 months since downloaded mavericks. Everytime i try to update it only gives me a grayed out old apple id so i cant change it.

I understand it can be very frustrating when you cannot sign in, or sign out in this case, to your Apple ID. In this situation you may need to temporarily edit your Apple ID back to the original email address so that you can sign out. Once signed out, edit the Apple ID back to the new email address and sign in. Please use the attached article for further information.
If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud
Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out to confirm. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap Keep on My [Device] or Delete from My [Device]. In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.
If you're still asked for your previous Apple ID password, continue to the next step.

After the latest update, all my apple products reverted to an old icloud account. As it no longer exists, I cannot get into it to delete it and add the correct id. How can I change this, especially on my Macbook pro?

There is no p/w related to it and even though I tried to reset "password" it won't allow as the id does not exist, neither does the email associated with the old id. How do I switch it to a newer id?

It's all rather odd because the old account cannot 'no longer exist' - if you don't have the correct password you won't be able to get into it, but you can't actually delete an iCloud account from the server.
I'm afraid you will need the services of iCloud Support. If you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:
http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/
You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.
If you are not covered by AppleCare, then - in common with other free email services - there is no free support and you may be asked to pay a fee.

the appleID is the connection between the device and icloud and what apps and media itunes store see that you own
if you change appleID you start from scratch
settings->store->appleID is where you remove what appleID your ios device see as yours

Go to 'Settings' and 'Store' and then click on the 'Apple ID' and sign out and back in with your correct one.

TS2306 my trackpad has been freezing since I downloaded Mavericks OSX

I downloaded OSX Mavericks to my iMac (purchased in mid-2010). My software is completely up to date. Ever since I downloaded Mavericks, my trackpad has been freezing sporadically. There appears to be no rhyme or reason. I've cleaned the trackpad. When I put the computer to sleep and wake it back up, the trackpad works fine for a while, then freezes again. This does not happen at any consistent time intervals or under any consistent circumstances. What's going on??????????

Hi, Gary. Unfortunately, I haven't found a solution to the sticky trackpad scrolling situation that works for me, but I think I can help you with opposite scroll direction issue. Open System Preferences and then click on Trackpad. Select the 'Scroll & Zoom' button at the top of the window, and then adjust the 'Scroll Direction' setting. Toggle that setting on or off to match the scroll direction you were accustomed to previously. Hope this helps.

If you have iWork 09, then the latest version should be available for free in the Mac App Store. If you have the new version on your iPad, then you'll need the new version on your Mac as well. The whole point of the latest version is that you can access and edit your files equally on iPad/iPhone, Mac, and also through the iCloud website.

Desktop wallpaper keeps reverting to an old one

Just recently my desktop wallpaper reverted to one a had in place a good while ago. Since having this 'old' one, the wallapper has been changed a number of times. When this occurs, I cannot change my wallpaper using System Preferences.
Often a restart is required to resolve this.
How can I stop this happening?

Close all windows and quit all applications.
Hold the option key down and click the "Go" menu in the Finder menubar.
Select "Library" from the dropdown, then "Preferences" folder.
Look for these two files.
com.apple.desktop.plist
com.apple.systempreferences.plist
Right click each one of those and select " Move To Trash" from the contextual menu.
Restart the computer.

I have a new email address. My partner still has the old one. I downloaded Oxford Dictionary using original email. Now my Ipad shows I have an update for it but even when I sign into using the original email and password I get "cannot connect to store

I now have an update on my Oxford Dictionary App. It will not update using my new ID and password and will not update using my former ID and password. All I get is "cannot connect to Itune Store. If I delete App and reinstall under new name - no problem with other apps- but I don't want to pay another $59.00 for the Dictionary. How do I get Itune store to allow the update?

Purchases are tied to the Apple ID they were purchased with. If you use a new ID, you have to buy again.

Ok I changed my apple ID because the old one was through a old boyfriend, now I have a new one and everything changed over except now when I try to get on certain apps (mainly all) his old ID keeps popping up instead of mine.

Apps are forever linked to the ID used to download them. If that is a problem t hen delete those old apps and download them again with the new ID. You can change ID in settings/it uses & App Store tap on ID And log in with new ID

I have a 2009 vintage MacBook Air. Ever since I installed maverik the speed to do anything has decreased significantly. After the 30 minutes of use it gets better, but still intemitently takes a time out for for a minute or more. Any solution other than buying a new one? Thanks

It is better to have a new computer.
