Whay the itunes take too much ram

the itunes take too much ram in 16 gig pit  windows

Well recalling an old post, is just stating the fact that the program is still doing the same thing. And i do concurr that itunes is one of my bigger ram hogs but i have no problem with 16gigs of ram installed. As coder myself, i know it is possible for them to rework itunes to dump cache periodically so that it doesnt hog as much ram as it does.
Itunes is falling behind times as Solid State Drives are becoming more prevelant in computers, they shouldn't need to cache as much as it does currently and hogging system resources. But then again on the other hand, they are  probably thinking that it is not a problem anymore since the standard for most computers/laptop is upwards of 4gigs+. Still is poor coding on apple's behalf that wont be recognized this late in the game.
In reply to Zak,
As of right now apple is on downward slope according to stock market quotes. But they have a few products that are coming out here soon that will bounce them back easily. After that, I am not sure.
In reply to Richb1910,
Comparing Apple to Mircosoft now a days is like comparing apple to oranges. Their companies have taken different paths, yes one may be better then the other in their choice of paths. But as it stands microsoft is still the leading home user operating system and server operating system for many major companies. Apple excels with their product lines which make them a very successful company. To say on or the other is barely staying above water is by far the wildest thing i have ever heard.

    Generally the iPod update is pretty quick unless you are making many hundreds of changes at a time. It could be the USB port is slow, try it in another port, preferably on the back of the PC, some computers have underpowered ports on the front panel. Also the recommended system requirements are for USB 2, it will work from a USB 1 port but much slower if that's the type of port you have.

  • The queries takes too much time

    Hi,
    I want to compare time of queries between Spatial and PostGIS, but Spatial take too much time. I created spatial indexes in both databases so I have no idea where can be the problem :-(. I'm actually student and I try this for my essay, but I start with Oracle by myself so I'll appreciate some help.
    I have table with cca 7000 polygons and I want to create new table like dissolve these polygons by attribute katuze.
    Query in Spatial takes 8506 s :
    CREATE TABLE dp_diss_p AS
    SELECT KATUZE_KOD, SDO_AGGR_UNION(
    MDSYS.SDOAGGRTYPE(a.geom, 0.005))GEOM
    FROM dp_plochy a GROUP BY a.KATUZE_KOD;
    Query in PostGIS takes 10.149 s :
    CREATE TABLE plochy_diss AS
    SELECT st_union(geom) AS geom
    FROM plochy
    GROUP BY katuze_kod;
    I really don't know what to do, please give somebody me some advice :-(. Please excuse my English.
    Thx Eva

    I tryed use the sdo_aggr_set_union like this:
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION get_geom_set (table_name VARCHAR2,
    column_name VARCHAR2,
    predicate VARCHAR2 := NULL)
    RETURN SDO_GEOMETRY_ARRAY DETERMINISTIC AS
    type cursor_type is REF CURSOR;
    query_crs cursor_type ;
    g SDO_GEOMETRY;
    GeometryArr SDO_GEOMETRY_ARRAY;
    where_clause VARCHAR2(2000);
    BEGIN
    IF predicate IS NULL
    THEN
    where_clause := NULL;
    ELSE
    where_clause := ' WHERE ';
    END IF;
    GeometryArr := SDO_GEOMETRY_ARRAY();
    OPEN query_crs FOR ' SELECT ' || column_name ||
    ' FROM ' || table_name ||
    where_clause || predicate;
    LOOP
    FETCH query_crs into g;
    EXIT when query_crs%NOTFOUND ;
    GeometryArr.extend;
    GeometryArr(GeometryArr.count) := g;
    END LOOP;
    RETURN GeometryArr;
    END;
    CREATE TABLE dp_diss_p AS
    SELECT KATUZE_KOD, sdo_aggr_set_union (get_geom_set ('dp_plochy', 'geom','CTVUK_KOD <>''1'''), .0005 ) geom
    FROM dp_plochy a GROUP BY a.KATUZE_KOD;
    It takes 21.721 s, but it return type of collection and I can't export it to *.shp because Georaptor export it like 'unknown' . Has anybody idea what can I do with it to export it like polygon?

  • Parsing the query takes too much time.

    Hello.
    I hitting the bug in в Oracle XE (parsing some query takes too much time).
    A similar bug was previously found in the commercial release and was successfully fixed (SR Number 3-3301916511).
    Please, raise a bug for Oracle XE.
    Steps to reproduce the issue:
    1. Extract files from testcase_dump.zip and testcase_sql.zip
    2. Under username SYSTEM execute script schema.sql
    3. Import data from file TESTCASE14.DMP
    4. Under username SYSTEM execute script testcase14.sql
    SQL text can be downloaded from http://files.mail.ru/DJTTE3
    Datapump dump of testcase can be downloaded from http://files.mail.ru/EC1J36
    Regards,
    Viacheslav.

    Bug number? Version fix applies to?
    Relevant Note that describes the problem and points out bug/patch availability?
    With a little luck some PSEs might be "backported", since 11g XE is not base release e.g. 11.2.0.1.

  • The system using too much ram than before

    After I updated my laptop to Yosemite 10.10 . The system using almost all of the ram even though I only opened safari and iTunes. Any tips or ways to fix this? Thanks

    soontobemacguy,
    Don't worry about how much RAM you have "free" vs. how much you have installed. Instead, look at the amount of "inactive" RAM you have. When you quit any running application, the physical memory addresses it was using are transitioned to "inactive" status, not "free." If and when you launch the application again, the same adresses are re-allocated to it, making it available to you much quicker.
    As you use up your "free" memory, and more is needed for a new application, it is taken from old "inactive" memory as needed. In other words, a better indication of what is currently available to you (and your applications) would be the combination of "free" and "inactive." Also, you should keep in mind that virtual memory will be created and used as necessary to meet your needs, regardless of how much physical RAM you have. Relying on virtual memory is not ideal, but it works.

  • ITunes using too much RAM.

    I noticed that when I have about 5 apps open—not including iTunes—my total free (including inactive) memory is 2.0GB. When I open iTunes, it instantly uses about 100 MB but when you leave it open I notice that my RAM is at 1.2GB, even though I have nothing else opened than previously. When I quit it, I get all the RAM back. A huge memory leak, perhaps? Having 800MB of RAM taken away by a single app is completely unacceptable. Is anyone else having this problem?

  • Vista Business: Itunes takes too much time to open

    Hey. Okay, this is going to sound strange, but, heres what is going on. Usually when I open itunes, it opens and runs and there is no problem. Occasionally though, it takes it too long to open. By too long, I mean I open it, the process is running in task manager, but for the actual itunes program to open takes around 5-10 minutes. I know it isn't the speed of my computer, I just built a new one (e6600 conroe, 640 gb sata raid, 550 w power supply, 2 gb ram, windows vista business...its fast enough to run itunes), and I know it isn't conflicting with any other program (if I'm running itunes, I'm not usually running anything else). I updated, I've followed all of the usual troubleshooting steps, and I've searched here for a solution, but nobody else seems to be having this problem. I get no error message, and everytime it does eventually open, but honestly I don't like itunes enough to want to wait 10 minutes to use it. Anyone know how I can get this to start working the way its supposed to work?

    5-10 minutes is normal for me when opening iTunes. But then my library is stored on network drive which slows everything down.

  • I get an error message when I connnect my digital camera to my Ipad 2 to dump pictures.  Something about the device (camera) takes too much power?

    I get an error message when I connect my digital camera to my Ipad 2.  Something to the effect that the device takes too much power...Any ideas how to remedy?

    Kevin-
    I've read that Apple reduced the current limit for their Camera Connection kit, with one of the iOS updates.  It is a known problem, so they may have made an adjustment with a later update.  Be sure you have the latest version (4.3.3) on your iPad 2.  If you continue to have the problem, report the details to Apple at
    <http://www.apple.com/feedback/>.
    One thing to try is to use your camera's memory card directly with the Camera Connection kit.  (Use a card-to-USB adapter if the card is not SD.)

  • White MacBook takes too much time to boot up

    Hi there.
    I got the topcase(keyboard) of my MacBook repaired. (White MacBook 2006) and after that it takes nearly 7 up to 10 seconds after pressing the power button that I first see apple logo and it boots up.
    I'm not sure but seems like that detecting the hardwares take too much time .
    any solution?
    PS: I'm running Snow Leopard(10.6.2)

    macbig wrote:
    OK, 32 seconds is not good. I don't think it has anything to do with a keyboard repair. You need to try a little maintenance: Reset Pram - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
    Repair Permissions - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1452
    Run Disk Utility >applications>utilities>disk utilities>verify disk
    How much free space do you have on your HD: Right click on HD icon and select "get info" in the drop down menu (if you don't have right click capabilities, highlight your HD icon, go file in the Apple menu, and select "get info" in the drop down menu. Let us know your results.
    Yes PRAM was the the problem, I've already tried it from this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2303507&tstart=0
    by the way thank you .

  • Azure Data Sync Log Take Too Much Time to Load

    Hi,
    I've found that the Azure Sync Log inside the Portal take too much time to load if my sync group was created long time ago. i.e. for those new sync group with only a few logs, it will take around 5 seconds for loading. However, I've many sync group created
    more than 1 year, and it will take me up to 10 minutes for viewing the first page of the logs.
    It seems the Portal will download ALL the logs to my browser even I just want to view the most recent logs (maybe I just want to view the last 10 records, but it will download the whole 5000 pages?)
    It will be great if the Portal only fetch the data of the page I am currently viewing, instead of fetching all the logs.
    Is there any ways to speed up the log loading time?
    Michael Yung

    2) Immediately appear a window, showing that UPK is "Loading the Library"
    3) Most of the times takes too much and nothing happens, I have to kill the process.

    4a) Let me to navigate in the menu, but most of the options are not available, I mean
    I can not make a New Folder, Topic, etc, I can not Open, I can not See Options, etc
    And I can not execute anything.
    Does any body could help me?
    During the process the only few things I was asked for were: Language, Type (I need SINGLE USER) and Windows Group, nothing related to Library configuration or something like that, any clue?

    Hello,
    You can contact Oracle Support here: http://support.oracle.com/
    For more information about this forum, please see the announcement at the top of the forum: http://forums.oracle.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=1175
    You shouldn't need to kill the Library loading process. Once that happened, it likely left a partial Library in your local cache. Oracle Support can assist you with this issue.

    Hi Gurus:
    It takes over 30 or 40 minutes to run a OAF page from JDeveloper, my JDeveloper is 10.1.3.3.0, and connect to the remote the DB server. I don't use the VPN. And one of my colleague in the same office take about 8 minutes to run a OAF page. It's painful to take too much time, Anyone can shed some light on this?

    I'm not sure on a Mac, but when I have this issue, I simply kill the thread (task-manager/processes/select the process, kill thread)
    I have had no ill effects doing this.
    It is my belief, it is the cloud, since they have a dcc connection, you can disconnect from the cloud, close everything, and the cloud is still connected to you. This is a feature of their update process I suppose.(speculation)  Additionally, I remember reading somewhere this issue was due to applying administrative permission at the instigation of the installation. (which I do allow *some* trusted companies to have this so updates can be applied during my downtime. )
    I have never had any overt issues after killing the thread and I have done that many times.
    Hope this helps
