When a feature is grayed out, how do you maje it active?

I would like to disable imessage feature, however i am not able to do so because the feature is grayed out?  How do I make it so it is accesible?

Hi Don,
Task categories are defined by the event source -- there are no default categories. So, the Task category drop-down will only be populated if the selected event source contains task categories.
From you description, the task categories was also grayed out, although you selected the source event: "Microsoft Windows security auditing". In this case, please filter the event logs without task categories, then check if there is any event
log available in the result.
>>I find that I can filter archived logs and get the Task category  option when I create custom view based on the current security log then filter it by changing "By log Event logs:"
to the archived log and changing "Logged:" to a date within the range of the log. 
Would you please also post the screenshot to help me to understand?
In addition, to filter archived event logs, you can also use Windows Powershell like:
Get-WinEvent -FilterHashtable @{Path="C:\fso\SavedAppLog.evtx";ProviderName="security";Id=4624}
