When a New Release of Forms & Reports

Anybody know when Oracle will be release the next version of Forms & Report with the Webutil utility integrated in the Installer?

The next release of Oracle Forms and Reprots is targetted for the summer (northern hemisphere!! ;o) )
btw - there will still be some manual steps for webutil installation.

Issue with New Release Deploying Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010

Previously I created a deployment project with Visual Studio 2010 using the Beta 2 release of the distributable. This worked fine and installed on a 32-bit XP machine.
I've since updated the project to use the new Release version of the distributable CRRuntime_32bit_13_0.msi. Now when I run the installed program it gives me the following message -
"An error has occurred while attempting to load the Crystal Reports runtime. Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient, or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly. Please install the appropriate Crystal Reports redistributable (CRRedist*.msi) containing the correct version of the Crystal Reports runtime (x86, x64, or Itanium) required. Please go to http://www.businessobjects.com/support for more information."
I've had a look at verious posts and added code to the app.config file so it looks like -
<startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true">
<supportedRuntime version="v4.0" sku=".NETFramework,Version=v4.0"/>
</startup>
and also tried targetting various .NET frameworks, but without success.
Am I missing something?

More info, are you installing on the same PC as the Beta was installed on or a clean PC?
Your app must be set to the full framework, not the client version.
Are you installing by right clicking on your setup.exe and selecting run as administrator?
Setting that option in the app.config is only required if you are using that driver you found the info on.
Run ProcessMonitor and set it to filter your installer and see what it reports.

NEW RELEASE FOR FORMS??

Wheres FOrms12g now?any new release?
anyhow our company changed our application system to pb 11.5
and that makes us obsulete developer coz were working on forms 6i ...
is there any IDE from oracle other than Jdev that can compete with PB? regarding to desktop application..(client/server) i thinked oracle get rid of it.they are focus now in jedeveloper...
....forms 10g or 11g dont think so...! (RIA,datagrid, datawindow..enhancement,excell)..... without help of complex coding from java....
currently now developing on form10g... but small knowledge in JAVA..
i dont like to move to another IDE other than oracle forms if posible...Jdeveloper it takes time for me to learned coz its 3gl.. not like forms its 4gl..
and many of companies moving to another application interface other than oracle they only interested now with oracle Database....!
if only new release forms like jdeveloper in terms of drag & drop components... i think it will be nice....!

Wheres FOrms12g now?Last I heard - Forms 12 is in development. Grant Ronald has a post "What do you want in next version of Forms" where he solicited our suggestions for improvements and new features in the next version of Forms. I haven't seen anything to indicate when this version will be available, however. Perhaps Grant could comment on this?
is there any IDE form oracle other than Jdev that can compete with PB? Again, what is PB? I am currently working with Oracle Forms 10g R2 and am very happy with the product. My company is also evaluating Forms 11g (Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g) as we may migrate our Forms applications to 11g. So far, I have been happy with Forms 11g - although, I don't like the coupling with WebLogic Server as this make the developer installation very heavy. Depending on when Forms 12 is released and which of the numerous requested features are included, we might hold off our upgrade until release 12 is available.

New install missing [forms & reports services] directories

I just installed 10g Application Server on a Linux box.
The [ORACLE_HOME]/forms/server/ directory is not there.
Did I miss an option?

I'm totally confused by the install options. I just need this little box to run Forms and Reports for our custom application.
First install:
I chose "Oracle Application Server 10g 10.1.2.0.2" over the other two; "Oracle Application Server Infrastructure 10g 10.1.2.0.2" and "Oracle Application Server Developer Kits 10g 10.1.2.0.2". Then I chose J2EE and Web Cache" over the other two; "Portal and Wireless" and "Business Intelligence and Forms".
Subsequent attempts with other combinations have also not yielded the /forms/server/ directories and files. One combination required a setup for Oracle Internet Directory. Is that a prerequisite?
I can't seem to find anywhere that says "Install these products in order to run Forms & Reports".

No longer works with these and other sites . Would like to know when new version will be released, will have to use IE until then..

* "Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

9iAS Release 2 Forms/Reports Servers

With 9iAS Rel1, there was a forms and a reports startup script for the servers. I'm not seeing this with Release 2. Also, we have had problems with Reports with regards to the DISPLAY environment setting. Where do I alter the DISPLAY for the reports server? Is there a dummy variable that we can set for this?

Start Report Server:
rwserver.sh server=<reportserver-name> batch=yes &
Stop Report Server:
rwserver.sh server=<reportserver-name> shutdown=immediate authid=repadmin/reports
DISPLAY:
In $ORACLE_HOME/bin/reports.sh you can add following:
DISPLAY=<a valid ip with X Server:0.0> ; export DISPLAY

ORA-00904 - invalid identifier when adding new column to the report query

Hi,
I am trying to add a new field to an existing bespoke report query. When I click on ok, I get the following error
message: "ORA-00904: <field name> : invalid identifier ==> <field_name>
Any ideas what is causing this problem? Version of the report builder is : 6.0.8 and is connected to a 10.2 db.
Any help appreciated.

What is the field name ? Maybe a reserved word ? Change to "my_new_variable" to check...

I did create a posting on OTN almost a year ago asking if/when 9iAS light version (forms/reports/graphs only) will be available at a reduced cost.
Oracle now announced (and also proved my claims that it was not a technical but marketing decision not to make forms/reports part of iAS a separate product) the separate download/install option for forms/reports services.
My original posting attracked more than 100 folks (including Shay, Frank and Grant) but was not fruitful to convince Oracle to make forms/reports services a separate product targeted for the small companies, who might not need/use the rest of the 9iAS framework. I believe, seeing one side of the coin and enforcing your opinion by ignoring the cry of many others (including many ODTUG members) is not a wise solution for your existing small business and niche market (using Oracle db and tools for very specific purposes such as simulations, etc on intranets - and operating under strict security protocols not to open up to internet) customers.
Grant and Shay repeatedly wrote on this forum and presented via whitepapers, etc. that forms/reports services are not fading away and it is a complementary solution to JDeveloper and emphasized that JDeveloper is not the replacement of forms/reports services. This news was very good for existing forms/reports developers.
Given that forms/reports services is now separately available, why not making Forms/Reports Designer and Forms/Reports services (only) part of iAS a separate product? as Oracle did the very same with JDeveloper?

I have already installed Oracle Database 11g Release 2 -------
----Then i configured JAVA Access bridge
--------then installed and configured Required Schema using Repository Creation Utility of same version of Database 11g,
-----------then installed Oracle Business Intelligence 11g version 11.1.1.6.0 which includes Web logic..............I am feeling that i did right at this point...........
..............also feeling comfortable after install Oracle Identity and Access Management 11g ..................
-----------------but don't know how to configure OID to install Oracle Portal Forms Reports and Discoverer 11g...............

You said, "...+I would like to install Release 2(11.1.1.2.0)+ ...". Be careful. 11.1.1.2.0 is not Release 2. The version for Rel 2 is 11.1.2.0, notice that there is one less "1". Also, there is no way to patch from Release 1 to Release 2.

Forms & Reports 10 g and Goofle Chrome

Hi there,
I wish to upgrade from IE8 to Google Chrome but when I run my 10g Forms & Reports application on Chrom, I get the following issue; 'No plug-in available to display this content'.
When I run 'java -version', i get "1.4.2_06-b03"
Any ideas or Advice.
Also, if Chrome does not work on Forms 10g, what modern browser would you recommend.

Windows vista is a headache for all pre 10.2.0.3.0 products. You mentioned you successfully installed the oracle database, which doesn't mean any other product will also install successfully. If you installed the specific 10g R2 for windows vista, then it will work, if you installed Oracle XE, it is supported on vista systems, but Developer suite isn't, so I suggest you to create a virtual machine with a supported OS for DS (Win 2003, XP or 2000).

How to add a new font into Report Builder and Oracle Forms/Reports Server?

Hi,
I've searched the forum and can't find this being discussed.
My developers run Report Builder 10.1.2.0.2 on their XP laptops.
Their reports run (in production) on Oracle Forms/Reports Server 10.1.2.0.2.
This server runs on MS Windows 2003, SP2.
They've got a client who wants reports using the "Garamond Western" font.
So....how do I get this font onto the developer's Report Builder laptops, and onto the Oracle Forms/Reports Server?
I've moved various 'Garamond' fonts into C:\WINDOWS\FONTS on both the laptops and the server, but neither seem to recognize it.

This answers 1/2 of my question.
The developer can now use Report Builder on his laptop, with the new fonts.
But when he moves this new Report to the Oracle Application Server/Forms-Reports Server, it fails to use the new fonts.
The Oracle App Server/Forms-Report Server is Version 10.1.2.0.2. It runs on MS Windows 2003, SP2.
I have installed the exact same fonts on this server, into C:\WINDOWS\Fonts.
I have used REGEDIT to change REPORTS_PATH....and placed C:\WINDOWS\Fonts; as the first value in this field.
I have then stopped and restarted the Forms-Reports Server.
