When Adding Footer - left portion of document get chopped - reg

Hi:
I am very new to the Adobe Windows - Writer software. I have encountered issue while adding header/footer to the existing document (PDF)
that was generated by Business Objects.
When I Document->Add Header/Footer onto the existing document, the portion of left side of the document is getting chopped
and it adds the Footer (page number) at the left bottom of the page.
When I preview, it doesn't crop/chop but once I click OK, it does get chopped.
I have tried Enforce/Pitshop to add it using Global Changes in PDF document, was able to add it. (very costly solution).
Please let me know whether I need to use Adobe Distiller 7.0 to modify any particular document standard settings in order to avoid this behavior.
Thank You in advance.

I would very interested in finding a solution to this issue.  Now using BusinessObjects XI R3, when PDF documents are created, they look fine but then, in landscape version, the right side gets "masked" by a 1 inch block when either footers are added or a watermark is added.  In portrait, the mask happens at the top of the page.  This did not happen in R2, but now happens in R3 of BusinessObject.  I have noticed that the properties of the PDF document indicates that R3 creates PDF's in a newer version (Version 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x)).  I am using Adobe Professional 8 to create the bookmarks.  The data is present in the document but hidden (text can be seen in "Preview" by Hidden Text when closing document).  Any follow-up on how to resolve?  Any help is appreciated.  Attached is an example of how the numbers in the right column get "masked".

  • Coredump when adding new data to a document

    Hi,
    I have managed to get a coredump when adding data to a document,
    initially using the Python API but I can reproduce it with a dbxml script.
    I am using dbxml-2.2.13 on RedHat WS 4.0.
    My original application reads XML data from files, and adds them
    one at a time to a DbXML document using XmlModify.addAppendStep
    and XmlModify.execute. At a particular document (call it "GLU.xml") it
    segfaults during the XmlModify.execute call. It is not malformed data in
    the file, because if I remove some files that are loaded at an earlier stage,
    GLU.xml is loaded quite happily and the segfault happens later. Changing
    my application so that it exits just before reading GLU.xml, and loading GLU.xml's
    data into the container file using the dbxml shell's "append" command produces
    the same segfault. The stacktrace is below. Steps #0 to #7 inclusive are the
    same as the stacktrace I got when using the Python API.
    Can anyone give me any suggestions? I could send the dbxml container file and
    dbxml script to anyone who would be prepared to take a look at this problem.
    Regards,
    Peter.

    Hi George,
    I can get the coredump with the following XML data (cut down from its original
    size of around 900Kb):
    <file name="GLU.xml">
    <_StorageUnit time="Wed Apr  5 11:06:49 2006" release="1.0.212"
    packageName="ccp.ChemComp" root="tempData" originator="CCPN Python XmlIO">
    <parent>
      <key1 tag="molType">protein</key1>
      <key2 tag="ccpCode">GLU</key2>
    </parent>
    <StdChemComp ID="1" code1Letter="E" stdChemCompCode="GLU" molType="protein" ccpCode="GLU" code3Letter="GLU" msdCode="GLU_LFOH" cifCode="GLU" merckCode="12,4477">
      <name>GLUTAMIC ACID</name>
      <commonNames>L-glutamic acid</commonNames>
    </_StorageUnit>
    <!--End of Memops Data-->
    </file>This happens when the data from 106 other files have been inserted beforehand
    (ranging in size from 1Kb to 140Kb). If I manipulate the order so that the above data
    is loaded earlier in the sequence, it inserts fine and I get the coredump when
    loading data from a different file.
    The actual XmlModify calls look something like:
      qry = mgr.prepare("/datapkg/dir[@name='dir1']/dir[@name='dir2']", qc)
      mdfy.addAppendStep(qry, XmlModify.Element, "",
                         '<file name='" + fileName + '">' +
                          data[pos:] + "</file>")
      mdfy.execute(XmlValue(doc), qc, uc)where data[pos:] points to the location in the mmap-ed file containing the
    above data just after the <?xml ...?> header.
    If you want to try to reproduce the crash at your end there are a couple of ways
    we could do it. I have just figured out that this forum software doesn't let me
    upload files or reveal my e-mail address in my profile, but you can contact me with
    username: pkeller; domain name: globalphasing.com and I can send the
    data to you.

  • Acrobat XI Deletes Header When Adding Footer

    I just started having this problem. I add a header to an Acrobat XI file and it's OK. When I attempt to update the header/footer and add the page number in the footer the content in the header is deleted. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat and it hasn't resolved the problem.

    Hi Panzi,
    Are you changing the margins, and working with mix-sized pages in the PDF? What do you have selected as the Appearance Options in the Update Header and Footer dialog box?
    I'm also curious whether this is happening only with a specific file? Or does it happen with all PDF files that you add a header/footer to?
    Best,
    Sara

  • Zoom settings change when adding pages

    Hi
    When adding a page to a document with this code:
    app.activeDocument.pages.add(LocationOptions.AT_END);
    InDesign automatically reverts the zoom setting to FIT_TO_PAGE
    Is there a way to prevent this from happening?
    I would like that it should stay at whatever it was.
    Help will be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Davey

    Davey_Doo wrote:
    1) is there a difference between what I wrote "layoutWindows[0]" and what you wrote "windows[0]"?
    Yup, "layoutWindows" refer to just the layout windows -- the ones one is normally working in. The other kind is "storyWindows", which is what you get when you open a text in the "Story Editor". There are vast differences between the two, such as "zoom" (you cannot zoom in on the story editor window).
    Using "windows", without specifying the kind, you get a list containing both types; and using "windows[0]", you get the very first one, whether it is a story window or a layout window. Then, if it happens to be a story window, csm_phil's script will Crash & Burn because you cannot zoom in on a story window.
    Your version will work correctly, and just in case you might have a story editor window open, it's best to stick to "layoutWindows" if you want to change a layout window property.
    2) Although this does help, is there a way to prevent it from happening?
         The reason I ask is because in a script which adds many pages, (e.g., MultiPageImporter script), the script needs to do this after adding each page.
    No, you cannot prevent it in any way. It's just ID's default built-in behavior (although it seems strange that this only happens when using a script!).
    But I disagree with your assessment it needs to be done "after adding each page". ID does not store the zoom percentage for each separate page and so it is enough to read the current zoom, add as much pages as you like, then set the zoom.

  • Error when adding a WLC to WCS

    When adding a WLC to WCS I get this error: Failed to add device to WCS Reason:
    COMMON-1: Some unexpected internal error has occured. If the problem persists please report to the Tech Support.
    WCS 7.0.164.0 was upgraded from 5.2.110.0 because the WLC were running 7.0.98.0
    WLC4404-100 7.0.98.0 (Already in WCS)
    WLC4402-12 7.0.98.0 (Changed the ip address of the management and ap manager.  Was in WCS but deleted from WCS prior to the ip address change and prior to the WCS being upgraded)
    I know that the snmp strings are fine and that the WLC's both respond to snmp get commands.
    The intial WCS upgrade from 5.2.110.0 to 7.0.164.0 didn't require the previous version to be uninstalled.  After the upgrade and restoring the WCS from backup. I was getting the error posted above.  We uninstalled WCS and re-installed WCS from scratch and still we are getting the same error.  We tried restarting the WCS services and also the VM box as well and not luck.  I was wondering if the WCS has the old ip and mac address of the WLC4402-12 in the database and that is why i'm getting this error.
    I did delete and try different snmp community strings with no luck with WCS.  Again, snmp is working since I can do snmp get from the WLC's.

  • Open pdf says "please fill out the following form" when I attempt to apply redactions, I get an error message.  How do I "turn off" the form portion of the document?  I assume that is the problem since I have not had this issue with any of the other files

    I am attempting to redact a large pdf file.  When I open the file, it has a bar across the top with the message "please fill out the following form".  I can mark redactions, but when I attempt to apply them I get a message saying, "In order to proceed Digital Signatures must be removed and the document must be fully authorized.  Do you want to make these changes and continue?"   I click "ok".  Then I get a message saying, "an internal error occurred."  How do I get around this problem?

    You cannot redact a signed document. This is because one of the things signatures guarantee is access to the OLDER document (i.e. there will be an unredacted copy in there).
    In general you cannot remove signatures, but sometimes you can. Look under the Signatures tab (right click on left vertical bar if there isn't one) to see if it is removable.

  • When adding columns, why do I get overrides on style?

    Hi all,
    When I'm adding columns in a certain document I end up with the new columns having overrides on them. How can I avoid this?
    The columns I added are seen in the middle.
    As you can see the they all get a "shift down" by -22 pt.
    I use this shift down on some other place in the document, but the table columns are clean from that kind of override, and just by selecting a column and adding 4 new columns "to the right" of that column, I would expect the new ones to get the exact same properties as the one selected.
    Can anyone try to explain what might be wrong with my document or way of working?
    Adding info: It seems there's something in the styles - many properties on them... This has noting to do with cells specifically. Just adding a textbox results renders the text this way as well, with the baseline shift (only no override symbol).
    Best regards,
    Andreas

    Ah... now I get it. The default styles of the document were set to a specific paragraph style and another character style.
    Setting the defaults to [Basic Paragraph] and None respectively seems to put everything in order.
    (You set a default by clicking outside the document so that nothing is selected, and then you select the styles [Basic paragraph] and None)
    Case closed.

  • Can't get rid of the # when adding text

    I'm trying to edit a document in Indesign. I started by doing a Pre-Flight to correct errors and have one left I can't get rid of.
    Originally the Text Error was for a font that ID could not find so I changed the font to what was already being used for other text - an included font - Charlamagne Std Regular
    When trying to type text into a text box the type jumps to just above the text box where the pound sign (#) sits.
    When entering type, even after positioning the curser inside the text box, it jumps the text to right before the pound sign, on top of the text box, and adds a pink box under the text.
    I have attached a screen shot to show this. How to I get rid of the pound sign and pink box to be able to simply type some text in the text box (that the pink box is in)? Thanks!

    @dkg62 – to make clear what's going on, select the text frame and show us another screenshot.
    There are at least four cases where you can get a text like that. All cases imply, that the font you'd like to use is missing. I simulated this by formatting text with a font weight that is not available by a character style.
    1. The most likely case: There is baseline shift applied; here in my case 9pt.
    All other cases are academical, because the pink highlighting is aligned with the text:
    2. Text frame options, baseline set to a fixed value (zero in this case)
    3. Text on path and the text frame options (baseline) is just the standard default. You can see a second #-end of story sign inside the text frame.
    4. Text on path and the text frame options (baseline) is set to fixed (zero in this case). The second #-sign inside the text frame is shifted above because of the fixed value of the baseline option of the text frame options. And obscured by the pink highlighting.

    I am changing from Word to Pages. I have created my custom template with all my styles etc and that is what comes up when I go for a New Document. Fine. How do I get it to use the same Custom Template when I use Pages to open a Word document?

    The template is a document in itself, it is not applied to an existing document whether it is a Pages document or a Word document converted to a Pages document.
    You would need to either copy and paste content, using existing styles, or apply the styles to the converted Word document.
    You can Import the Styles from an existing document and those imported Styles can be used to override the current document's styles:
    Menu > Format > Import Styles
    The process is simplified if the styles use the same names, otherwise you will need to delete the style you don't want and replace it with the one that you do want when asked, then the substitution is pretty straightforward.

    Best regards,
    New York Mac User

    A few general trouble shooting tips that may apply here:
    1. If you used Software Update to do the OS update(s) to reach 10.6.7, go to http://support.apple.com/downloads/ and download and apply the Mac OS v10.6.7 Combo Updater. The Combo Updater contains some fixes that were not included in the incremental updaters used by Software Update.
    1a. Check that you have the current version of Pages (and of the other iWork applications) installed. All three applications' current version numbers end in .0.5
    2. A common cause of malfunctioning applications is a corrupted preferences file (.plist file). Your Pages '09's plist is at yourname > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iWork.pages.plist
    Quit Pages, locate the file and Drag it to the Desktop (or to the Trash).
    Restart Pages and attempt to open one of the files.
    If all is well, Trash the plist file and empty the Trash.
    If there's no change, AND you've made changes to the Preferences that you wish to keep, drag the file back to its previous location, replacing any new one that has been created.

    It sounds to me as though you are attempting to open a Pages 09 document with the Pages 08 application. If you do have Pages 09 on your computer, it may be that for some reason an existing Pages 08 application is invoked accidentally.
