When Apple TV Starts it starts playing Itunes too

I have a brand new Mac Mini running LIon. I have a Apple TV 2 on a LG 32 inch LED TV . When I start Apple Tv and go to the menu and click on a menu my Itunes starts playing a song.
So when I am watching a movie or a podcast on my Apple TV .. Itunes plays at the same time with a different selection
got any ideas?

when pinging the appletv but I have a windows machine on the network and it always sees the appletv so I know it isn't a network problem but something specific to the MBP. I am running 10.5.1 and have set the firewall to allow all incoming connections and it doesn't make a difference. The strange thing is that I can share my iTunes from the MBP and see it on the windows machine and vice versa. This is driving me crazy!!! Any ideas on what the problem could be on the MBP?

since upgrading to OS lion, my mac book pro (2010 August) keeps freezing (non responsive, requires restart) when i turn on my mac and the system is trying to open apple mail. while apple mail is attempting to collect new mail, the macbook pro freezes. this happens every 2nd time i try to start up my computer. this only started happening after i upgraded to OS lion. please let me know what I need to do to fix this. being forced to restart every 2nd time i turn on my macbook pro has been very frustrating. not sure if apple mail is also the cause of my macbook pro for being very slow during start-up (on the occasion the computer doesn't freeze).

I am having similar 'freezing' problems with many programs (Mail, Safari, iTunes, etc.). I have done a clean install of Lion instead of an upgrade when it came out. Perhaps something went wrong with my install? I'm thinking about wiping and reinstalling.

Apple should start offering iTunes or App-store cards in India !

It seems that Apple has stopped accepting debit card as a payment option in India. So what happens to the existing users in India who does not have a credit card ? The idea of a free apple id without any payment card attached does not make sense as it limits customer`s freedom to purchase music or paid apps. Apple does not offer iTunes card or App-store cards in India and neither accepts debit card as a payment option then what is the way around ? If we feel safe to attach our debit cards as a payment option then it should not have a problem or Apple should start offering iTunes card in India. People does not put all their money in one single debit card which they attach as a payment option for relaxation so security risk should not be a concern, cheers !

Apple TV2 starts up iTunes on iMac

On occassion when I wake Apple TV with the remote, iTunes on my iMac will start playing. This has been happening both in Lion & ML.
I've searched through System, iTunes Preferences and Apple TV Settings and don't see anything that would cause it.

If you don't want to use a remote with your computer the easiest thing to do is just to turn the IR off. (System Preferences/Security/General)
If you still want to use your computer remote then you must pair your computers remote with the computer AND the Apple TV remote with the Apple TV.
To pair a remote with a device hold down the menu and FF buttons together for six seconds or until you see a chain icon on screen (best take the computer into another room, or turn it off, when you do this)

Odd error message when attempting to start up iTunes

Whenever I attempt to start up iTunes it tells me
"The file "iTunes Library" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes."
It was working fine 30 minutes ago and I have the latest version installed. Can someone help me?

Getting audio dropouts when a song starts playing.....but not all the time

I have a 80GB Ipod. Use it mostly in my truck/car (have a IPOD interface in each). Usually use the shuffle mode for playing songs. It seems that as of a couple days ago I will get a audio drop out right after a song starts playing (one or two seconds into the song). Only lasts for a second or so but it does not happen on every song....there has not been a pattern that I can see (not every other song ot every thitrd song....just random..........) But it is always in the same place in the song......always one or two seconds after the song starts playing. Has anyone had this problem and if so how did you fix it? Thanks

I can't subscribe to Match on Win 7 with iTunes 10.6.3.25. When Apple ID auth window comes up iTunes crashes with "iTunes stopped working" and iTunes closes.

On Windows 7 with iTunes 10.6.3.25 I cannot subscribe to iTunes Match. In iTunes I click on iTunes Match in the left pane then click the "Subscribe for $25 a year" button. A window that looks like I am going to be asked to login using my Apple ID and password starts to come up but then an error occurs and I get a window that says "iTunes stopped working" then iTunes closes. What can I do ?

I've also read somewhere about using Win Rar to extract files to do with apple mobile device support from the itunes installer file, would you recommend that to? I don't really fancy the idea of doing anything that involves my registry because knowing me I'll end up screwing my laptop up for good lol
It's a little more involved than just doing a standalone AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi install, I'm afraid. The relevant drivers in AMDS are not digitally signed for 64-bit XP, so you have to force XP to accept a driver install that it would try its damnedest to not do. There's no driver issues for other 64-bit componentry in the installer package (I think the GEAR drivers install on XP 64-bit systems), but I believe there's still a bit of fancy footwork involved in getting them installed too ... although it's been a long time since I've looked at an instruction set, and I might not be recalling those things correctly. (So if you're not comfortable with system modifications, it might be best to steer clear of the Orca-based techniques ...)

Apple TV Remote starts playing iTunes Library at random! HELP?

I've been having this problem for a while now, and I've been avoiding it as much as possible. I have the fairly new Apple TV (last Christmas) and a OS X Mountain Lion Macbook Pro. When I have both my Apple TV and my Mac running at the same time, each time I press a button on the Remote, my iTunes library turns on, plays, pauses or turns the volume up or down. It's very annoying as you can imagine. I'd like to get this issue resolved ASAP.

If you don't want to use a remote with your computer the easiest thing to do is just to turn the IR off. (System Preferences > Security > General, click on the Advanced button in the bottom right corner - If the button is greyed out, click on the lock icon and enter your administrators password))

Locked folder error when trying to start up iTunes

A friend of mine has a relatively new Toshiba laptop with Vista on it (32 bit). She was able to use iTunes with no problems for a while, until she installed Microsoft Office 2007 on it. Afterwards,the program refuses to open, stating that either the program is on a locked disk or that she does not have write permission for the folder. We've tried playing with the user accounts, uninstalling and reinstalling the program, and even trying to change the folder permissions on the actual iTunes folder. Absolutely nothing works, and we're using the most recent version of iTunes available. Anyone have any ideas as to what to do to resolve this?

Since installing Snow Leopard and Lion two weeks ago, my iTunes program opens seemingly at will. It usually starts playing music, too. What is causing this?

Since installing Snow Leopard and then Lion on my Intel-based iMac two weeks ago, my iTunes program seems to open at will whenever the computer is on. It often begins playing music, as well. What is causing this and how do I make it stop?

There are ways to minimize, mitigate, and help avoid a lot of problems.
Bootable backups.
Zeroing a drive twice before using, and format it with SL DVD Apple Disk Utility for sure.
Even a clean install should import old apps without having to reauthorize.
If you must do an upgrade, do it from the SL DVD, after repairing the drive and be sure to use the SL version of Alsoft Disk Warrior (4.2).
Wait six months before jumping on a new OS.
10% is still too many. Yes, it is more sensitive to RAM and hard drive errors, doesn't like some controllers; most ext hdd cases; and enough software to make for test-only status. And it only IDs some known incompatible applications, drivers, extensions, etc and does not remove even those always in best manner.
Plus, there are problems with the new Rosetta and the cache files it now uses. So some apps and plug-ins will cause more trouble. Not all are ready. Good reason to hold off for the months it takes.
Other devices act different as far as on/off behavior.
(Migrating from G5s to Mac Pro can cause all kinds of problems, weird behavior, sluggish system, and why anyone that went down that road was strongly recommended to NOT use Migration Assistant for any of their applications, and to ONLY do clean/fresh installs of any apps. If you skipped that day, didn't read the Guide to M.A., or didn't want to do fresh installs then, your system could have been on borrowed time. If you did do clean install of applications, great.
Installing SL can result in a corrupt directory - I think and it "seems" to be happening, but no real proof, just gut feeling and instinct (underlying file system problem? weak sectors that pre-existed waiting to happen?).
Remember all the "there just aren't a lot of 64-bit drivers" for Vista and XP? it's come home to roost.
... my guess is not enough incense and offerings. To hop into TimeMachine and SuperDuper backup images and pull the 1TB for another day (week, month, year).
