I’m not a member of the development team, but from previous talks with both Joel and Marc I understand that the main changes will be with regards to utilizing the new Tabular Form features introduced in 4.1. Out of those, the main changes will be to forsake direct manipulations of the G_Fxx arrays in favor of using the “column name” with bind variable notation, both in Validations and Processes.
Where security is concern, focus on the new ways to implement Authentication and Authorization using their new implementation (based on the Plug-In technology).
As most of the packaged applications were developed for the 3.x environment, I believe that using more jQuery stuff is also something that will see in the new versions.

Packaged Application installation error??
Hi guys,
I have downloaded sample packaged application from APEX product home page, and trying to download these application but continiously facing error, i have tried both to install (using application express and through sqlplus with FLOWS_020200 user) but unable to install it,

Can you give us more information? As in, what error do you get and when does it appear?
The steps to install the packaged samples are:
- Unzip the packaged application to a .sql file
- In APEX, go to Home > Application Builder > Import and select the .sql file, then follow the steps in the wizard.

Try same user name and password as you login to your workspace.
Most of applications use Application Express authentication

Wow things have changed here in the forums since i was last here!!
Anyway, just a quick one really...........does anyone know where i can still download the packaged applications which no longer appear on the APEX pages under the latest version?
I've downloaded and installed the numerous current 'Sample' applications which are great for demonstrating specific features, but i really did like the older versions of the full applications. I completely understand why they are perhaps no longer relevant given the changes and new functionality in APEX, but as someone who likes to play around in APEX and build apps for my own use, these packaged applications where a source of inspiration. I often used the applications to help and better understand page layouts for example, or used them to build on my skills with workflow within my applications and navigation between pages etc.
Anyway, would love to see them come back (I know Oracle say they are currently being updated) but the old ones in the mean time would really help some of us out i think.

You're right, the "sample" packaged applications are generally designed to demonstrate one specific aspect of APEX functionality, rather than serving as examples of fully-functional applications. But we do also have a suite of packaged applications (the ones that don't have "Sample" in the title) which are intended to be fully functional applications; if you're looking for inspiration, you can install those, unlock them, and then open them up in the builder to see how we've done things.
A few things to note:
Some of the applications are significantly more complicated than others. P-Track is one of the biggest; Checklist Manager is much smaller. Choose accordingly.
Once you unlock an application, you cannot "re-lock" it, and will not be able to install any updates released in the future, since we have no way of identifying what changes you have made, and whether they should be kept or not. But if you're just looking to see how we built the application, this shouldn't be an issue.
For the sample applications, we tried to keep the examples small and easy to follow/duplicate. For the "productivity" applications, our focus has been on creating fully functional, powerful, clean user interface experiences, so some parts of the applications are going to be significantly more complex--multiple cascading dynamic actions, etc.

Cannot install Sample Master Detail (Packaged Application)
When trying to install the Sample Master Detail packaged application
on the new APEX.Oracle.com (running Application Express 4.2.0.00.22),
I'm getting an error.
After selecting it from the Packaged Applications page, and clicking the "Install Application" button
on the Application Builder/Packaged Applications/Sample Master Detail/Install screen,

I tried in a workspace that had some existing applications, and a colleague tried
in a new workspace that had just been allocated by APEX.Oracle.com.
I was able to successfully install the Sample Data Loading application after trying to install
the Sample Master Detail packaged application.
Anyone else having this issue?

Hi,
When I try to install a trial product like photoshop cs6 or master collection cs6 I keep getting the error " Installer failed to initialized". I used Adobe cleaner to remove all cs6 products and tried again, but no luck, the same error.
I opened the the log file and found that line :
[FATAL] Setup - Error installing C:\Users\moshe-a\Desktop\MasterCollection_CS6_LS6\packages\core\PDApp.pimx package.
Return Value of pim_installPackage = -1

if, your error is:
"Installer failed to initialize. File not found." or "Installer failed to initialize. This could be due to missing files."
first, rename OOBE Folder to OOBE.old.
to find OOBE:
64 bit win OS: Program Files x86\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE
32 bit win OS: Program Files \Common Files\Adobe\OOBE
mac os: HD>library>application support>adobe>caps
mac os: USER>library>application support>adobe>OOB
if that fails or isn't the exact error you see, uninstall, clean (http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html) and reinstall.
if you're using a dvd to install:
copy the disc contents to a desktop directory and install from that directory.
if you're using a mac:
1. Try to Create a new user account in Mac with Administrator Priviledges.
2. Login to the New user, Navigate to Mac HD> Application> Utilities> Adobe Installer folder, Locate products like Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash, Adobe Air and un-install them
3. Navigate to User Library> Application Support> Adobe and move Adobe to Trash.
4. Navigate to Mac HD> Library> Application Support> Adobe and move Adobe to Trash.
5. Start the installation again.

Invalid Namespace when trying to package AIR application
I am using a self-signed certificate when trying to package
my application, but when I run the command to package it I get the
following error: "Invalid namespace
http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/1.0"
Then it leaves a .tmp file in the directory where I ran the
batch file containing the package statement.
What should be done from here?Check which version of adt you are using. Sounds like you are
using a beta release, which wouldn't recognize the final 1.0
namespace.

I downloaded the ios 6 on my iphone. I'm having problems with applications. When I open any application, in seconds then closes and returns to the home screen. What could be happening?
Did you change any AppleID accounts or anything? I've seen this happen when changing accounts or certain restore situations.
If you are using iCloud you should be able to reset your phone to Factory Defaults and restore from iCloud, but it always makes me nervous. -
I recently upgraded to iWork v9.0.3, but when I access each applications the versions are different (i.e. Pages V.4.1, Numbers V2.6, Keynote V5.1.1) with a install date of 3/18/09 -- which is not the current install date of 2 weeks ago. Shouldn't Pages, Numbers, and Keynote show version 9.?? My MAC confirned installation of v9.0.3 and even accepted the software code. With this discrepancy, how can I determine if the latest was installed and operational? I even downloading v9.0.4, 9.0.5, and 9.1. When I tried installing these downloads it popped up note stating that a later version of Keynote was already installed.
You used the data. Verizon can not see what it was sued for. However your phone can see whats apps used the data. go to settings-data usage- there will be a place that says data usage cycle. line the dates up with your cycle. then there will be a bar graph below that extend bother white bars one all the way to the left and one all the way to the right. after those are extended below that will be a list of apps, there should be one that used over 2 gb and that will show you what app used that data in her purse

CS Bridge when opening file shows " Some Application Components are missing from Application Directory- Reinstall". Uninstalled with uninstaller, reinstalled from disc. Message continues only in Bridge not in PS. Please help.
What version of Bridge and Photoshop and what platform? Mac or Windows? I can point you to a downloadable installer.
If the cdrom was damaged, it may be the problem.
You would uninstall and use the CC/CS Cleaner to remove any remnants before reinstalling.

I have an iPad 4th generation and when I updated to iOS 7 I can't use FaceTime. Every time I tried to sign in I get a message asking me to check my Network connection. FaceTime and iMessage are the only application that give me this message.
Try Reset all settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings will be reset. -
What Xcelsius binaries are needed and how does licensing work when including within an application?

Could anyone tell me what binaries ( swf, flash, xml, etc..) are needed if I want to run Xcelsius from within another application? Do they need to be in the same folder?
Also, how are licenses used, stored, retrieved for Xcelsius when included in another application?
