When attempting synch iTunes photos tab yields spinning ball.

When synching my iPhone or iPad a spinning wheel appears when on the photos tab in iTunes.  In other words, I cannot select photos to transfer from my iMac to my iPad or iPhone.  The spinning wheel never goes away while on the photos tab.  Other tabs work as intended and the remainder of the synch goes well. Perhaps a coincidence, but the problem appeared when I first try to synch my new iPhone 6+.  My iMac is operating with Yosemite 10.10.1.

  • Is anyone having problems syncing iPhoto to iPad 2 after iOS 7.0.3 update? when I click on photos tab, I get a circular dashed loading icon that is perpetually there. It never loads the library

When I click on photos tab, I get a circular dashed loading icon that is perpetually there. It never loads the library. i dont even see the iphoto content! thx for your help!

I am certain too that it is possibly the 7.0.3 update. Have you tried restoring from backup? I am uncertain that might work but its worth a try.
If that doesn't work I suggest that you give feedback to Apple directly. The more about this problem, the quicker it will get resolved.

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • ITunes 8.2.1 update bug (-50) and changes to iTunes Photo tab

Many thanks in advance for your attention.
    1. Since I updated to iTunes 8.2.1, have had the following bug whenever I try to sync my iPod Touch (2G). "The iPod " " cannot be synced - An unknown error occurred (-50)." pops up.
    2. I have a file in iPhoto of just photos for my iPod (instead of the entire - huge - iPhoto Library.) Under iTunes, looking under the Photos Tab, this choice was "selected albums" - which allowed you to pick just one album from one's iPhoto Library to be synced. But this choice, the button, is now greyed out. It is there, but one can no longer select it.
    3. ?
    4. On top of that, the default - Sync All Photos from iPhoto is now selected. (I think this is the cause for the -50 error). I never intended to have my whole iPhoto library automatically imported by my iPod.
    4. As others have done here, I turned off "Sync Photos" from iPhoto.
    5. Then when I try to sync, no problem, no hitches. No Error prompts. Great.
    6. But - this way, I am forever stuck with the photos that are in my iPod now. Adding new photos seems impossible, as the sync Selected Albums button is greyed out.
    7. Have I overlooked something? From other posts, it seems this is a bug that is widespread.

same exact problem just happened within the last few weeks (something to do with snow leopard update??)..i had other wise been happily syncing a second generation touch with version 3.0

  • Airport error when attempting to import photos across wireless network

    Hi,
I'm using the latest version of iPhoto '09 on a MacBook that's connected to my home wireless network through an Airport Extreme. Also on the same network is a brand new Mac Mini. When I attempt to import photos into iPhoto '09 on my MacBook from the Mac Mini, I get an Airport connection error that I dismiss by clicking OK. Immediately after clicking ok, I then get a "Can't find the original photo..." error and I hit cancel. I do this three times and presto the photo imports itself. This occurs every time I attempt to do an import.
My network is not dropping. My Internet connection is not dropping. My MacBook and the Mac Mini stay connected continuously so I'm not sure why I get these errors.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Mark

It has nothing to do with the Airport connection.
This sometimes occurs if you’re importing a file into iPhoto and there’s already a file there with the same name. Digital cameras can produce many, many files with the same name over their lifetime, so it’s not uncommon to have several files called IMG_00543.JPG, for instance. Now you want to import one also called this.
What happens is that iPhoto compares the two files to check for duplicates. However, if iPhoto cannot find the file already in the database for comparison, then you get this message. It suggests that your database is damaged because iPhoto has lost track of this (or these) similarly named files.
A simple test is to rename the file you are importing - just add a character - IMG_00543a.JPG for instance. If this then imports with no issue then you might consider rebuilding your library:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Java error when attempting to view projects tab in Rel 8.0

    Hi,
When attempting to view the projects, resources or administrator settings in the Web app of P6 Rel 8.0 I get a message saying error, click for details in the display section of the page.
I had Java ver 6.24 installed on the laptop. I removed this and installed ver 6.20 as required for Rel 8.0.
I can logon, view dashboard information, the error only comes up with Projects, Resources and attempting to view the administrator settings.
I have cleared the cache in Internet explorer and the java console.
    Any help appreciated

Office 2007, by default, saves with a docx extension, unless you specify to save it in an older format. It sounds like the document reader on the BB is not handling the document the way Office 2007 converts it, but the full version of Word 2003 on your computer is opening it fine.
Then, when it is saved in Office/Word 2003, it DOES work with your reader. Perhaps an update to the reader software on the BB is needed so it will properly handle the converted docx to doc files?

  • Attempt to delete photo results in 'spinning beach ball'.

We try to delete some photos, and we get a 'spinning beach ball'. All we can do is force quit. The photo we want to delete never is placed in the iPhoto trash. We need to be able to delete photos to gain some hard drive space to produce more albums and videos.
Is this related to the post "Deleting photos doesn't move them to IPhoto Trash "?

Yes, space is very tight on that machine now.
Yes you can move your Library to another drive: Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
    Then to rebuild:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Error when attempting to import photos

When I try to import photos from my Canon camera, the import times out for each photo and I get a popup message that the photo cannot be located. At the same time I get a message that it cannot locate an Airport disk I'm not using anymore as I have moved my shared disks to a MacMini due to the Airports inability to handle shared disks. I have never used the Airport disk directly with iPhoto but apparently there are some references somewhere. I have tried to move the plist file and have checked it for references to the Airport disk but have not found any. I have also tried to rebuild the library which worked fine but solved nothing.
    Any clues anybody?
Importing the photos on my Wife's MacBook work seemlessly so there are no compatibility issues with the camera.

    Hi Terence,
I tried iPhoto Library Manager but it could not solve my problem. Opening the iPhoto library I can see that the reference to the pictures are pointing to my old location not to the new one. I considered running a script that would change all pointers since this is basically what is needed (in my case from /Volumes/RAID1/Fotos/XXX to /Volumes/Fotos/XXX). Instead I inserted a soft unix link to make to connection but that did not work. It is referring to the airport disk by the airport name rather than the mounted disk name. Very strange indeed. The problem is maybe not in iPhoto but in OSX? Anyway, maybe the only way out is to take some hours and manually run through all linked photos... cumbersome and annoying!

  • Import Issue : "Database error: can't get path to master" when attempting to import photos (referenced method)

    Hi Everyone,
I have a NAS (Network Attached Storage) which holds my photos. I want to import them into Apple photos (but via the reference method).
I did this by going to Preferences/General and unchecking the 'Importing: Copy items to the Photo library' option.
I connect to my NAS via AFP and have mount 'Media' which is where my photos are stored.
I select the file/import option, navigate to aforementioned photo location and select the "Review for import" button
I then receive an error which states:
    Unreadable File
The following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or the files may not contain valid data).
    Filename                    Reason
Filename.jpg              Database Error: can't get path to master
The above error happens on multiple file types.....
    However ...
If I tick the option in the preferences/general to 'Importing : Copy items to photo library" option then the file will import successfully.
I of course don't want to import the files I want them to be referenced...
    Anyone else experiencing this issue????
    Thanks in advance.
    Benjamin

If this is a 3rd party application, I would seek out that company and ask for an updated version compatible with 2010, then it would be a matter of simply installing it per their instructions.
Otherwise, the best course of action is to deactivate the feature from WSSv3 prior to removal. If that is no longer possible, then use
FeatureAdmin to remove the feature from within 2010.

  • Unable to add address when attempting to order photos

This is somewhat odd. The other day I ordered photos via iPhoto no problem. Tonight, I want to order more but ship them to a diff. address. Click on drop down box to add new address, account info window appears, I sign in, then a blank window appears. Anyone know what to do?
    Thanks!

I'm glad I checked the discussion forum and discovered that I'm not the only one who has encountered this problem. I've ordered many books in the past, but this week tried to add a new shipping address to my list, and the system will not let me add. I emailed customer support, and after realizing that I had tried all the proper steps, they indicated that they think it is a technical problem. I even took it to the Genius Bar where they double checked all my settings and couldn't figure it out. Customer Service suggested that I call Apple Technical Care at 1-800-275-2273. Hopefully they can help.

  • Spinning beach ball when connecting to iTunes 10.5

My 3Gs getting spinning ball when trying to synch with iTunes. My phone shows up, but then the spinning ball appears after a few seconds.

Mac OS X 10.5.8 on an Intel iMac
    iPhone 3GS
    iTunes 10.5
If you encounter the spinning ball, it may suffice to just wait (and wait and wait), as in my experience, eventually the spinning ball went away and my iPhone was properly connected to iTunes.
Tried to upgrade to iOS 5, and when I initially connected the iPhone to iTunes, I got the spinning ball.  I found if I waited a long time, then it would connect.  So I installed iOS5, which involves a very time consuming 'restore' step.  At the end, none of the non-Apple apps would launch and no songs/podcasts/etc were on the iPhone.
So then I disabled 'auto-sync' in iTunes, connected my iPhone to iTunes, got the spinning ball, left it overnight, and in the morning it had connected to iTunes.  Then I did a 'Restore', which involved resetting the phone and restoring from a previous backup made yesterday morning.  Strange thing is that during the restore, the phone did not have 'Syncing now' or 'Restoring now' message on its screen.  Seems to me that it should have.
Now, many hours later, it looks like everything is working on the phone now.  And when I try to reconnect it to iTunes, it connects quickly without starting the spinning ball.
This whole process was very time-consuming and not fun...
However, after reading about how iOS 5 tends to dramatically reduce stand-by time on the 3GS, I am wondering if there is a way to go back to the previous iOS version?
