  • Cannot download Mountain Lion- "an error has occurred"

When I attempt to download Mountain Lion it gets to about 79MB, stops, and I get the following, "an error has occurred." No explanation of any kind. This was over Wifi, but I also tried using ethernet. Same result. This same thing happened when I updated to Lion. The same thing happens when trying to download using my laptop. The only way I was able to get LIon is to take my laptop to the library and download from there and transfer it to my iMac.  I really don't want to do the same thing for Mountain Lion. Here is my setup:
    iMac8,1 model ID
Wifi router  - Qwest 2Wire (over 5 years old)
Currently using latest version of Mac OS Lion

I talked with my service provider (Qwest/Centurylink) and through some persistance they admitted that my 2wire router/modem (about 5-6 years old) has a 2GB file download cap on it. My solution was to buy a new router and modem. After that I was able to download Mountain Lion just fine. Hope this helps.

For downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is Gstrongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Keep in mind, If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband (high speed) access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation.
Mountain Lion is a 4.34GB file. If you are using a slow internet connection, the download may be timing out before it can finish. Your ISP determines your download speeds. Check with your ISP for upgrade options.

  • Download Mountain Lion an error has occured

I have a MBP early 2008 with 4GB Memory and 30GB free disk space.
So I know I can upgrade.
I have purchased Mountain Lion in the appstore but it will not download.
The download starts and gets to 79.34MB and then gives an error:
    "an error has occured"
I have tried deleteing the appstore cache, logging out and quiting the appstore and then starting the appstore and logging back in, but none of it has helped.
Everytime it fails at exactly 79.34MB.
It is driving me mad, I hope someone can help.

  • HT1338 Mountain Lion "An error has occurred"

Running 10.7.4. Plenty of RAM available. No other downloads waiting. Mountain Lion purchased (receipt kept). MacBook plugged in. Stable wireless connection. About 4 seconds into installing ML, it stops. Just...stops. Visit to the App Store to check downloads. See the cute yet fierce Lion logo. Next to it, see "An error has occurred". The Click to Install box is blacked out. Back to the Lion purchase page where I am asked if I want to pay £13.99 to Install Mountain Lion. Again.
And there it sits in my downlaods pages, about as useless as a large piece of mucous on my screen.
    Please? Anyone?
Again, I have no Applications waiting to Dowlnoad, sufficient RAM and all the other stuff I presumably would need. Except patience, which I'm running out of.

Disable the Firewall in System Preferences > Security & Privacy
Disable anti virus software before downloading apps.
Apps such as Little Snitch can prevent files from downloading the App Store.
Your Mac must be one of the following models to install Mountain Lion.
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
From here >   Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mountain Lion.
If nothing above applies to your situation, reinstall the App Store by downloading and installing the OS X Lion Update 10.7.4 (Client Combo)
    Then restart your Mac.
It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.7.4

  • SP 2010 - Getting "An unexpected error has occurred. " message when accessing Sharepoint site after windows update - Windows 7 Home Premium

    Hi,
I am new to SP 2010. I have installed Share point 2010 server (trial version) on my Windows 7 Home Premium Laptop by following the below link.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee554869%28office.14%29.aspx
Everything went fine and was able to see the new sharepoint site after completing configuration wizard. SP2010 Central Admin also worked fine.
However, after windows update, sharepoint site is not working. I was able to see the site working for more than a day before windows update. SP2010 Central Admin is still working. Executed "PSCONFIG" after
    update but still no good.
I saw a warning "The Security Token Service is not available" in Central Admin and did some research to fix the issue but nothing worked.
    Hotfix
I believe I have all hotfixes mentioned in the forums. Here is the list.
    Windows6.1-KB976462-v2-x64

    381569_intl_x64_zip
    Windows6.1-KB976462-v2-x64

I can see following log in Event Viewer when accessing site home page.
    Event ID:      8306
    Task Category: Claims Authentication
    Level:         Error
    Website response
http://localhost:32843/ - "HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable."
    http://localhost:32843/Topology/Topology.svc - Works fine
http://localhost:32843/SecurityTokenServiceApplication/securitytoken.svc - Returns following error. I am unable to see windows authentication in both Windows Features (under IIS -> WWW services -> Security) and IIS website (SharePoint Web Services
    -> IIS -> Authentication).
HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error
Module "WindowsAuthenticationModule" could not be found
I even tried to uninstall Sharepoint and re-install the same. It worked even second time until it went thro' windows update. App pools are running and Websites are up and running in IIS.
Can anyone please help me to fix this issue?
    Thanks

  • "An unknown error has occurred" iphone 4 when downloading any app from app store

Every time I try to download any app (paid or free) from the appstore from my Iphone 4 I get this same error.  Any help would be appreciated.  I've tried updating my credit card info, as well as changing my apple ID password - neither had any effect.  This is the first time I've tried to download an app after installing the latest iOS though.  Anyone else having this same issue? or know of other things to try?  Thanks in advance.

    Thank you so much.
I renewed my credit card details at Apple and it caused the error message.
It was easy to understand what happened/ what to do by reading your message.
I hope that Apple make the message more friendly.
    Appreciated

  • Help-unknown error has occurred when logging into mac app store

I am unable to log into the mac app store. It says "an unknown error has occurred" i can log onto itunes without any issues. ive read some discussions and tried to delete networkinterfaces.plist but it doesnt even seem to exist, ive looked in 3 different preferences files. I also tried to create a new user id from the mac store and it doesnt even recognize when i click to create user. what can i do next???  Thanks

    Sorry,
you don't need any app Store. That - sorry - bullshi. is mother of all problems.
There is the usuall Software Update process - all can find in finder menue below the apple logo. So why I have to update my iLife and iWork via App Store? Can't this be done by Software update as before? No, we need something special and we also deny any other possible way, like download from apple support page and install manually. No, everybody needs App Store - and then we get an issue after software update and don't get a fix? Sorry, that what I dislike most  - a bad customer support.
So, no one needs App Store for a Fix - all apple has to do is simply provide a simple MacUpdate via Software Update process and all is fine again.
And Software Update is just in such cases the best choice and most possible way to fix such problems - and we need also a valid and good second way - if all strings get cut...
We need ways without any strong internet - because I know places, were you cannot download a MacOS

  • An Unknown Error Has Occurred - Project Server 2010 - Tasks Page

Greetings!   Some of my resources are recieving the error "An Unknown Error has occurred" (in red)  when trying to access their TASKS Page in Project Server 2010.
I've researched this error quite a bit and am finding suggestions and answers pretty much all over the board.    Before I have my server people start installing a slew of hot fixes - I want to know if anyone has an idea of the underlying cause
for this error.    Since this issue doesn't affect everyone (i.e. I can access my task page), is it possibly related to the actual schedule in which they have assignments?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!
    ~Randy

i have found the solution for this issue, you need to do this:
in the logs you must search the "exception" and the logs give you a ID, this ID is about the task assignment in the specific resource , so this assignment is corrupt.
this ID, you need to merge in the SQL server in the project server database, you need to merge ID task with ID Project with ID Resource, so when you identify the ID project and ID resource you can
DELETE this assignment in the project from project profesional, because this task has a corrupt assignment, you must delete
    ONLY FROM project professional.
This solutión solve this specific problem for this assignment  that
IS DIFERENT TO THIS SOLUTION  post of Brian Smith:

  • App Store login results in "An unknown error has occurred"

When I'm trying to login into the app store, I'm always getting the error "An unknown error has occured".
I tried to use a different login and the result is always the same.
I'm able to login into iTunes from the same machine, I'm able to login into this forums and I was able to associate the MacBook into the same apple id.
Why is the App Store the only thing that is not working?
    Thanks,
    L. Pinho

I solved it (found an entry in another forum).
Delete the NetworkInterfaces.plist file, that's it...
Why? I don't have any idea

  • Ipod cannot be updated, an unknown error has occurred. (-48)

I'm at the end of my tether right now. I updated iTunes to the newest version, then updated my iPod. Now I'm getting the error message "Ipod cannot be updated, an unknown error has occurred. (-48)". I've searched the site and other forums and I can't find anyone with that same message who can help me. I've tried installing an older version of iTunes but I can't use it because my iPod has been updated to work with the newest one. I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, nothing helped.
    So my questions are:
    1) Any way I can uninstall the update I did for my iPod? That is, so it is compatible with older versions again.
    2) What could be causing this message?
    3) Is there an e-mail address for apple, who seem wholly uninterested in what happens with their product once the £235 has been paid for it?
    Any help is appreciated.

Interesting, that error code doesn't seem to appear on the iPod support pages. Since it's saying "The iPod cannot be updated" it sounds like it's indicating there's a problem with the iPod... although with "unknown error" it's hard to say for sure. My recommendation would be that you try restoring your iPod, and then giving it another go. If you're uncertain about the restore process, take a look at this article, it should answer your questions.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983
Once you restore it, try updating it again in iTunes. If you have any more problems or questions, feel free to reply, and I'll see what I can do to help.
    Best wishes!
