When Booting Cisco 6500 its directly going to Rommon

Hi All, When we reboot or Hrad boot the Cisco 6509 its directly going to rommon again to make the switch boot in IOS each and everytime we need to give the command boot, we have checked and found that flash is working fine and even the boot sequence is configured properly.
what could cause this problem ?

Check your boot statement , if this is a native box it should be "boot system flash sup-bootflash: or "boot system flash disk0: . Anything else will cause it to go to rommon if the config register is correct. It has to be pointed at the supervisor bootflash or disk0 and that is where the image should be located because that is where the initial boot starts , it boots the supervisor then hands it over to the mscf to be loaded.

  • 2851 Router will not boot from CF, after reload goes into rommon

I recently obtained a 2851 and have been battling this issue for a week now. An odd set of circumstances happen with the bootstrap startup process. If the router has loss of power or when reloaded; it fails to read the CF card and boots to rommon. I can tftp an image to it (tftpdnld -r) and IOS CAN read the flash card along with any saved configuration.
In fact once in IOS, I can wr mem and print the hardware details of the CF card. Once I reload the router it goes to rommon, fails to open the flash, then sits until i tftp the image back. When the router load IOS, it also loads the startup config.
I don't think it's a problem with the CF card as IOS can read it. I've tried formatting the card from IOS and from my pc as FAT, FAT16, FAT32, and NTFS - it didn't make a different. I updated the ROMMON to allow for USB booting but haven't purchased a USB Drive yet for testing. The upgrade didn't resolve this issue either. It almost seems like a firmware problem with the EPROM.
I've played with the config register to see what, if any, impact it had. Currently it's set to 0x2102, putting it in the diag register didn't produce any other errors than what's listed below.
I'm stumped and out of ideas. Hoping somebody has some insight on what could be causing this to happen.
Apprecite your time reading my question.

Yes, I have tried different types of CF and USB with the same result. I have "official" cisco 256mb cf and a sandisk cf. I have tried various brands of usbflash.
I added boot system statements to the config to cf, then usb0, then usb1 to see if perhaps one would read. It looks like it doesn't bother after the first device fails. This is only for my studies and I can deal with "tftpdnld -r" every time I boot it. Just was trying to nail down any other possibilies.

  • Error Message when booting from System CD's

Ill advised I put a OSX disk in my hardly used iMac CRT G4 with 64meg of RAM. I did not know about the firmware upgrade required. Discovering my error I tried to use the System Recovery / Install CDs that came with the machine.
When booting from the CD all goes well until about 50% into the boot and then the following error appears on the screen
interfaceLib -- MgmError with a button to reboot the machine and make sure that the C button is held down on the keyboard. BUT the mac is trying to boot from the CD. Holding down the C button makes no difference. Holding down the shift key (preventing the extentions) gets past the error BUT the system restore or system install programs will not run.
    Help! I am really stuck

Not only were you suppose to update your firmware, you also needed to purchase more RAM. The minimum RAM requirement for OS X is 128mb. However, Cat System users strongly recommend 256mb+.
Suggest you check out the following links & see the section on "Tray Loaders".

About once a month I receive the Software update notice that has failed. How do I find out who/what is trying to update? If I decided I want this update how do I allow it to continue? If I decided I do not want this update how do I stop it and its attempt to update? The only response allowed is "OK". When OK is selected the window goes away and nothing else happens.

    Hi sharkbiscuit79,
Yes your cabinet 10 on the Crediton exchange has already been installed and linked with a FTTC DSLAM cabinet (making it able to provide FTTC fibre broadband) and has been Accepting FTTC orders since December 2013.  PCP10 (with it's DSLAM cabinet within 100meters of it) is locate on the junction of Commercial Road and the A3072.
However by the looks of things your are just too far away to obtain a FTTC (VDSL2) connection, meaning FTTC fibre broadband is not available to you.
Have a look at the Connecting Devon and Somerset Considerations (particularly the last paragraph) - http://www.connectingdevonandsomerset.co.uk/where-when-map-conditions/
Your best bet is to talk to Connecting Devon and Somerset to see if there are any further plans to get a fibre based service to your area via https://www.connectingdevonandsomerset.co.uk/contact-us/ (as your area may not be inscope of any further deployment). Best give them your full address and landline number too as they can check if you are within a NGA area.

    Hey Destiny24
Check out the iPhone Hardware troubleshooting guide in the Display section. It has a section for not having any backlight. If you cannot get it resolved, there are some links towards the bottom of the article for further options when it cannot be resolved.

  • Fan going crazy when booting

When I boot up iMac, the fan goes crazy. After a moment it stops and is quiet again. I unplugged my power and plugged it in again but that does't work. I tried to start AHT by holding D when booting, but that didn't work. I didn't get any discs when I bought my Mac so I can't run AHT using the disc. How can this be fixed?
I also have Windows 7 installed but I don't know if this is relevant. The fan goes mental everytime i boot up. It doesn't matter whether I do that with Windows or OSX.

OS X Mountain Lion- Use Apple Hardware Test
Intel-based Macs- Using Apple Hardware Test

  • Excecutable VI generating an error 222 on Keithley 2612A although its run properly when starting from labview 2009 directly

    Dear all,
I have a VI which runs perfectly and I can control, a Keithley 2612A for transistor measurements.
The VI run well when I excecute it from the computer which has the platform Labview 2009 (XP OS)
The equipment (ie Keithley 2612A) is linked to another computer which don't have labview 2009.
I installed Run-time-engine 2009 (OS XP 32 bits) on this computer.
Then I create an excecutable of my VI with the "build application" option.
The excecutable VI starts normally on the computer but when I want to run it, I am getting an error message from the Keithley 2612A (which was not the case when I ran the VI directly from the computer haing Labview 2009 installed on it). The error message is 222 (ie parameter too long)
I thought that I did something wrong and I create an excecutable from an original VI from Keithley (ie without any change). I am getting the same error message.
When I create an excecutable with run time engine 2009 included (as it is possible to do it wiht LB 2009) , I am geeting the same error message.
So I need no to check step after step when the message happens  but
Does anyone knows anything about such an issue ?
    Thank you
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Dear all,
Just for those who might encounter a similar issue.
I found the solution after tackling all possibilities.
The source of the problem was (for unknown reason) that the country setting of the computer was wrong
and decimal numbers were written with a , instead of a point.
Since I reset correctly the country setting, the stand alone files are running normally.
    Best regards
    Youki
