When can I use iMessage? How do I restrict it to only use iMessage?

I have to pay 30 cents per text, which is a ripoff, and pretty much everyone I know uses an iPhone or iPod touch, so I want to just use iMessage with them. For some reason, though, I can only sometimes send iMessages to iOS users. I can never send them to my friend, who has an iPhone 4 running iOS 5. I can typically send iMessages to my parents but not always, it sometimes only lets me send by paid SMS. They definitely have iMessage enabled. Maybe I'm not choosing the right address to send it to?
So are you supposed to enter someone's phone number, and it'll know whether or not they have iOS and use iMessage if they have it, or do you have to enter their email address that they set as their iMessage address?
Also, is there a way to just force it to only use iMessage? I don't really want to send or receive paid text messages under any circumstance. Come on, 30 cents to send a few bytes is ridiculous.

I tried that, thinking it was exactly what I wanted, but it still sends stuff as SMS (green bubble).

However, I have three different environment running ( e.g : production, uat and dev )
And I want to deploy all of them on system or enterprise configuration.
I create the file "deployment.config" on jre/lib directory and put the entry as below :

deployment.system.config.mandatory=trueNow, when I run other environment it will look on the production deployment. I have different
version of jars for production , uat and dev.
How can I archive that ? I want different universal "cache" of jars for all the three different environment.
e.g ( production - in one loaction for all the users , C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\prod\cache
uat - in one loaction for all the users , C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\uat\cache
dev - in one loaction for all the users, C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\dev\cache )
Is that possible ??

When I open iTunes it will automatically go to full screen mode. I can't work out how to turn this off. Only iTunes opens to full screen mode.

Go to System Preferences (under the Apple logo in the menu bar). Choose "General". Click "Always close windows when quitting an application".
That should fix it.

Go to the Apple menu and select "About This Mac". You will get a window similar to this one -
You current OS X version number will be shown as I've marked.
OS X 10.4.x is Tiger, 10.5.x is Leopard, 10.6.x is Snow Leopard, 10.7.x is Lion, and 10.8.x is Mountain Lion.
Whether or not you can go to the latest OS X version depends upon your hardware -
You will need to purchase the retail set for the OS X version you want; there is no pint in getting and installing any intermediate versions. Once the retail version has been installed, you can update it to the latest release for that version via download updater.

Both psd and tiff are the two formats to use for your master file. Saving as a jpg will flatten the layers and remove any trace of transparency. Tiff has an option in the save as dialog box to compress the file.
If you find it necessary you could zip older files for archiving.
Once the raw file has been opened in photoshop, it is no longer considered a raw file, as photoshop has no way to save to that file. Which is why you need to save as a psd or tiff.
That said, camera raw dialog box and Lightroom will save its edits to a sidecar file, which is why they are considered to be non-destructive. Since you can delete the side care file and start again. It is the combination. Of the raw file and the side car file that ends up in photoshop. Which is one reason why it is recommended to do as much as you can in camera raw or Lightroom first. But the latest version of photoshop allows your photoshop filets be loaded into camera raw as a filter. So that recommendation is not as important as it once was.

You just copy the stamp files from one machine and place them in the correct directory on the other. You can find the location of both the user and app stamp directories by running the following code in the interactive JavaScript console:

Why is my iPhone Camera Roll using 10.0 GB but my Photo Library only using 6.3 GB?

When I look at usage in my iPhone, Camera Roll is using 10.0 GB, but Photo Library is only using 6.3 GB. I do not have Photo Stream enabled. Why the difference?

In my case, Camera Roll is just the pictures taken on my phone and the remainder of the photos on my phone were synced from my computer via iTunes and are under "Photo Library". If you go to Photos and then tap Albums at the bottom right, it will show which pictures are in the Camera Roll. My Camera Roll usage is much smaller than Photo Library as I only have 2 pictures there since I regularly import them to my computer where I have more control and extra backup capability. I then sync back some that I want to also have on the phone.

So I am either blind that I can't find it in the history option or it doesn't exist. It seems the options are remember history no limit or always to remove when closed. No need to crop your clips. The mask does the cropping of the upper clip.
To use the image mask, you need an image to place into the drop zone in the inspector. In your case you'd want a simple black to white gradient as the image mask and choose Luminance in the Image Mask source luminance pop-up. I'm attaching a sample gradient. The original was 1280x720 to match a 720p movie but the forum shrinks it down. This gradient was created in Photoshop in less than 30 seconds.
You import this gradient file into your event. Click on the Mask Source in the Image Mask effect and then click on the gradient file in your event list and click Apply Clip. Change the Mask Source to Luminance. Change the offset mask parameters to move where the gradient lines up in your movie.

I changed my iCloud password tonight & I was just wondering if there is any way I can track it using the serial number because I did not set up "find my iPhone" before it was stolen. It was not locked (the password when you first turn it on.) Please help me! I still have one year warranty on it too. Can anybody tell me how to go about fixing the problem? No. The SN will only help idenitfy the iPod as yours if it is recovered.

Can we setup a 13 period fiscal year for 2010 only, using the same variant

We currently have a fiscal year running from October. We have been taken over by a new comany who want our fiscal year to run from November. It has been decided that year 2010 will contain 13 periods.
Can someone help with how to set this up in OB29.
The current settings are for 12 normal periods and 4 special periods. Therefore it will not allow 13 periods to be setup in 2010. However, if I change the number of normal periods in the variant to 13 then there is a message saying that there are gaps in the other fiscal years which are not 2010.
What is the correct way to deal with the extra month? We are currently in 2010 which started in October and we don't want FY 2011 to start until November.

The setup we have is as below.

This is working fine to find October as period 13 when we use function DATE_TO_PERIOD_CONVERT, but there is an error in the setup saying 'Only define periods until 12'. When we try to run function LAST_DAY_IN_PERIOD_GET this crashes saying fiscal year variant not found for 2010.
There is a setting in the fiscal year variant which says
Calendar yr     2010 No.posting periods   12   No.special periods 4
For 2010 only we want this to be 13 periods. Is this possible?

How many songs can you put in an Ipod touch 64GB if you only use it for music?

I've heard the Ipod classic 160GB is discontinued. Could someone tell me how many songs you can put in the Ipod touch 64GB if you exclusively use it for music and don't put any photos, videos or anything?

I just did some quick figuring. There are a lot of variables. My 64gb 5th gen touch has only 56.6gb capacity so says the unit. Settings>General>About.
MP3 formatted songs vary greatly. I quickly perused my collection and found that the size varied from 3-7MB per song. Using the average of 4MB per song,(7MB is a rather large file for MP3) you will come up with 56.6 X 1024MB (1024 MB per 1GB) =57958MB/4 =14489 songs. This will probably never happen as there is cover artwork and different variables because of file size to consider. This gives you an Idea where to start.

We currently do not allow users to use USBs of any kind, but I need to allow admins and 2 other groups to be able to use a specific brand and model USB. I think this might involve writting some scripts, and or modifying the Master Schema in AD. But frankly

I presume group policy can't be really applied to non windows OS where as for windows OS, you can either import the adm or use the current gpo settings.

Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
You will of course not be able to get anything other than the free content without entering in some sort of payment method (credit card, prepaid iTunes card, gift certificate, etc.)
