The title explains itself. I've had my black Zen Vision: M (30GB) since February and it's almost coming up on its 2 year... I've been waiting for any word on another line from Creative. Would anyone know anything about 'em Perhaps when Creative may at least announce something at some convention What and when I can't wait. I'm in need for a successor to my Zen Vision: M. Thanks in advance, guys.

This is the successor: the Creative Zen (http://us.creative.com/products/prod...4&product=6999) They're definitely coming out with the 32 GB version of it as well. I even confirmed it today when I called them asking about it. But I got the standard "we don't know when it will be released yet". It should be soon though because the Spec page lists it already (and the 8GB one is noticably missing there) I'm still holding off on this one though because I haven't heard if it definitely supports Rhapsody To Go yet, and no one from Creative seems to respond to my questions regarding it. I keep getting a lot of "it should", but no one really knows. Anyway, hope that hel

As a student you are probably eligible for a student license. Adobe sells many of its products with a significant discount for students and staff of education facilities. You should either ask someone from the IT department of your school about it, or call Adobe directly.

Version 1.1.2 is nice, but when do we expect the next version?

I have used Aperture fairly extensive this summer and saw a boost in speed this summer when 1.1.2 arrived. I have throwed in 5000+ images and are getting to grips with it.
Still, I expect we all want more and running it on my 1,67 Powerbook with 2GB of RAM with a 23" screen, I find myself wanting:
-More speeeed. I only shoot RAW and redrawing and adjusting RAWs are painfully slow. Some of it may be due to the lack of a fast graphics card, the other problem is perhaps a slow drive. Perhaps a sata cardbus card and a fast external drive will help significantly? Anyone with an aperture library on a fast external drive on a powerbook that can share their experiences?

You really want one of the Macbook Pros to speed things up. The video card improvement alone would be significant. I don't think you are really disk bound at this point given the amount of memory you have.

I really really love to see a lens distortion correction, and also a localized color adjustment tool like CS2 or Lightroom have.
-Curves
I know a lot of people would like to see this, but really you should play with Levels more as it is a hybrid of Levels and Curves in Photoshop. Play around with the quarter-tone controls and see what you can do. Basically Aperture Levels is kind of like a Curves tool with three adjustment points, where you don't have to place a lot of interemediate points to lock the curve down for some operations. Furthermore you can adjust Luminence/RGB and color channel curves seperatly and combine the effect of both.

Nokia C3 - When to expect the next FW update (Open...

Yesterday my two Nokia C3-00s finally arrived (one for me and one as a Christmas present for my girlfriend so we can chat while not together), both equipped with the 04.60 FW version and I was more than disappointed to find out what a completely useless piece of equipment they are after I faced the severe WLAN issue (and the fact that it turned out Ovi Browser is not supported for this Nokia model, but that's just details).
I bought these phones just because I wanted a simple Wi-Fi connection for basic messaging and I bet 99% of the people who bought C3-00 gave their money to Nokia exactly because of that, but no, it can't even load a chat client properly and, because of the need of confirming the type of connection every two seconds, all network-dependent applications crash or log me out. I can't use Wi-Fi, I can't use Communities, I can't use web messaging, I can't use Mail, I can't browse the web properly, I can't do nothing on it.
So Nokia guys, you have all the right hardware already in the C3-00, all you have to do is change FEW LINES of code to fix it! I begin to think there's some kind of deal between Nokia and service providers, I really don't find any other reasonable explanation for this nonsense. People in the web already started to talk, you know, this one is not just gonna pass by. If you advertise a product mainly by noting it has Wi-Fi, it must have a proper one or otherwise a wave of lawsuits will follow, believe me. Your customers are not morons.
And after this angry intro (excuse me for being so emotional since yesterday's "surprise" I got from Nokia Europe) I just want to ask the Nokia devs and the people above them:
When can we expect the next FW update that WILL FIX the Wi-Fi issue, enabling the use of WLAN without automatically switching to GPRS and WITHOUT the need of confirmations that drop every connection, web application or login process you start?

You can't using Adobe Reader. It looks like whomever created the form used the same identifiers (names) for various fields. Each field with the same name will populate with the information used in another field of the same name. This is intentional.
Normally when I see this, it tells me that someone created an initial field then copy/pasted it to make additional fields but forgot to change the names.

Well, the right arrow key will already move you to the next column, so the easiest way to do this is to modify the InputMap to have the Enter key invoke the same Action as the right arrow key.
You can search the forum for my "Table Actions" (without the space) example that will show you how to do this.

I'm right with you, Mariah. This is exactly my problem, too! Is there a way when viewing message (using the preview window) with the message list sorted in descending date order (most recent on top) and let's say you are view a message in the middle of the list, that when you delete that message the next oldest (further down on the list) message is what's previewed??

When can we expect a fix for the Windows 8.1 hotplug issue with a Thunderbolt device. I got a dock to easy my up-and-go time when moving from using my laptop on the desk vs in meetings. Instead my computer crashes and I have to reboot.
I am seeing this issue with the 2012 Macbook pro Retina running Bootcamp with Windows 8.1 x64 bit with the F4U055 Dock from Belkin

I can confirm that hotplug does work properly on Windows 8.1 with Asus Thunderbolt ExII (Thunderbolt 2)
But does not work with Windows 8.1 and MacBook Pro Retina (Thunderbolt 1)
To get hot plug working with the Asus Thunderbolt ExII, you install the intel thunderbolt drivers, and then you get an interface where you can eject devices, and do things like setup more detailed security. However, this doesn't have any effect with the MacBook Pro. I suspect that either:
1) Apple's Thunderbolt hardware doesn't support hotplugging on windows
2) Hotplugging on Windows requires Thunderbolt 2
So, I should check on my Mac Pro (dustbin edition) to see if it works there with Thunderbolt II
Be great to hear if anybody has any success with this on an Apple device!

Did you check in iTunes Producer if your package really imported correctly?
While in iTunes Producer, you go to "File" and then click on "Package History", it will fetch the status on the Apple system on-line.
I have the same problem since I have been trying to update my previsously published book, I keep getting import error messages. I tried omitting the version number and "whats new in this version" but nothing seems to work... Sent emails to Apple through the iTunes producer tool but to no avail - so far.

There are so many problems that I’ll be very surprised if you can resolve them all on the first attempt. I doubt you have a complete list but I feel safe in saying they’ve all been mentioned here in one form or another. You would be doing yourself and the customers a service if you took the unprecedented step of providing your list so that it can be reviewed for accuracy. I’m finding new problems... or at least I think I am. I hate to waste your time reporting problems others have already reported or worse yet, problems I’ve reported — as I’ve lost track there are so many.
Please let us know what is going on with this. You’ve made progress on the performance issues (though I think I speak for everyone with a PPC system that it’s still not what it should be – and I have a G5 Quad w/7 GB RAM and Quadro FX 4500 card. Aperture should be smokin’ but it’s not...)

I have a 500 GB hard drive; that's how I've avoided the issue, to date. But you consider a 2000 shot bat mitzvah a small shoot, so I have know problem acknowledging you shoot a lot more than I do.
The key point about Aperture, to date, is that it doesn't add ANY data to original RAW files, period. Everything it appears to do -- everything is just a set of modifications to the master. This applies to sharpening, this applies to shadows and highlights, this applies to cropping... and it applies to metadata.
As for archival, etc., ... if you're archiving outside of Aperture... why not just use multiple Aperture libraries? It's a bit inconvenient (to the extent that it takes 15 seconds to change the setting and re-launch), but it gets around the problem. I mean, if you're archiving external to Aperture in original RAW format, you're not only "losing" the metadata... you're losing every single change you've made to the file. Truly, no editing functionality of anything would you be using in this scenario.

Why can't I see my data which was entered and saved on a form when i try to reopen it? it always worked before until this spring 2014. The data is actually there when I click on a box but disappears when I go to the next box. I have a Mac.

I am using a Mac and I have always filled out the same form (ocf-6 from ontario insurance companies, application for expenses) It stopped letting me go back and open the previously saved forms which i filled out and I have saved monthly for the past 5 years. Now when I open a previously saved month /file I cannot see the data I inputed. The data is there because when i highlight a box the data appears. then when i move onto the next field/box it disappears. I tried to highlight the whole document but nothing shows up. This problem started in the spring ,2014.

Once you save that to a location on your system.
Make sure Acrobat is Quit and then do this:
1. In the Finder go to the "Go" menu.
2. Select Go to Folder
3. Paste this path into the "Go to the Folder:" field
/Applications/Adobe Acrobat XI Pro/Adobe Acrobat Pro/Contents/Resources/JavaScripts/
4. Copy the file into the JavaScripts folder.
5. Launch Acrobat
Now you should see the menu spoken of in the blog and web page.
