When clicked on photo, exclamation pops up

I recently just uploaded my camera's software to my mac and it imported pictures. I'm sure that's the cause of the problem, but I'm not sure how to get the pictures back into my Iphoto. When I open up my library it will show the pictures, but once I click on it I just get an exclamation point

The ! or ? turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
Try rebuilding the database. Hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.

Different photo appears when clicking on photo in album

I imported some photos into an album, original source was camera and photo stream. On many, but not all of the photos in the album, when I click on it (say Photo A) a DIFFERENT photo (photo B) appears. If a make the smallest edit to photo B then it appears correctly in the album. This is mystifying !!

Different app opens when clicking on photos

When I click on the photos app on my ipod I am taken to Places in Maps.

In the Photo app, there are 3 buttons across the buttom: (1) Albums (2) Events (3) Places
Maybe you're in the number 3 section (Places)?

What to do when clicking on photos only minimizes the screen?

I downloaded lots of photos yesterday (300+) and now I can't work with the application. When I click on any photo, or any folder, or anything in iPhoto, the whole page simply moves off the screen. I can bring it back up but still can't get anything open. The program will not even close when I click on the red button. It just moves back and forth from my desktop to never-neverland. What have I done?

It sounds like you're caught in one of those view tricks in OS X that allows you to see all windows or somesuch.
Try restart your mac.

Trouble when clicking "order photos"

I installed iLife '08 and .mac on my computer recently. Yesterday when I clicked "order prints", the rainbow-colored circle just kept spinning (don't know what that's called!), and then I was told to "force quit" iPhoto. This happens every time I try it, and I can't progress any further with the order.
This is probably unrelated, but yesterday when I downloaded pictures from my camera into iPhoto, the first couple hundred squares that showed up in the event were black - they were given a jpeg number, but were just black squares. Following these, all the pictures that I did take were shown. I have never had a problem with iPhoto until yesterday when these 2 things happened. Any advice appreciated!

No settings have knowingly been changed to Firefox or Facebook

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

The instructions in HT4236 are as follows:
To delete synced photos and videos
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
Click Apply.
No where does it say anything about a "photo pop up option". When you click on your device icon a panel with many tabs appears. One of these tabs is "Photos". You are supposed to click on the "Photos" tab.

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

Exactly how it sounds, my mother in law is having troubles with her iPhone. When she types anything into the "To:" box, this photo, previously in her photo library, pops up.

I would suggest 3 things here. First if you haven't already, Restart the iPhone with tis procedure from

Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If that does not resolve the issue, then I recommend closing all the apps.

From the Home screen, click the Home button twice.
Tap and hold on the app.
When it starts to jiggle, tap the - to close it.
Double-click the Home button and try opening the app again.
And if that fails to resolve the issue, then I suggest backing up and restoring your iPhone with iTunes.

Have latest updates for mac and iPhoto. several of "events" now show as grey squares with a plan tree, no thumbnails when scrolling over as before. Photos show when clicking on icon but not visible as a group. What gives?

Have the latest updates on my iMac and iphoto. Recently several "Event" folders have turned to grey with a palm tree in the corner. Before there was a "key" photo to help identify the event. The event title is still at the bottom of the square but no key photo. When i click on the icon, the photos that it contained show up, but when closed again disappear. How do I correct this annoyance?
Also: One event that contains about 12 photos has a problem---some of the photos when clicked will enlarge and show individually on the screen and print out, while others when clicken on show a black background with an exclamation mark and will not print. Thoughts?

first, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.
next, download and install the revo uninstaller http://http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html. use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC.
next download itunes. it worked for me hope this is helpful!!
oonce you get into the revo uninstallergo thru to delete itunes hit uninstall on the itunes icon then you will go thru to it will tell u the same nmessage about the feature and network hit cancell then go thru and hit scan (make sure bthe advance scan button is pushed) this will take awhile but go thru the list and hit everything associated with itunes. hit delete then install itunes again. it worked for me hope it works for you!
