When Client Security Solution for T61 running on Windows 7 will be released?

Now I clean installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on my computer. Anything work fine except for Client Security Solution which I can't install. Does anybody know that when it will be released?
Added: Also, Presentation Director for Windows Vista doesn't work on Windows7 too. When it will be released?
Thanks a lot!

  • File Encryption with Client Security Solution

    Hello,
We've been using ThinkVntage Client Security Solution for file encryption for a while now.  I'm setting up some new laptops running Client Security Soliution 8.2 and I can't seem to find the option for data protection/file encryption.  I checked a ocuple of users that are using file encryption and they were running Client Security Solution 7.x.  Did they remove this feature from 8.x?

Unless the latest edition was released before my previous post then your statement is incorrect.  My computer was using the latest edition because I downloaded it form your site only a few days before the post.  Since my initial post I have had to replace my laptop and Lenovo, unfortuantely, treats Canadians like **bleep** step children so I had to buy an HP.  If you can pass on a message, Lenovo lost the sale of a very high end system a few days ago becuase of a corporate choice to only sell a stripped down selection of computers to Canadians.  You have a good 5 years or so now to think on that and come up with a better solution than cripling your Canadian resellers.

  • Client Security Solution 8.21 for Windows 7 (64-bit only)

i used to work on client secuirty on my old OS windows Vista, now after i upgrade to windows 7, the appliaction wont install on my OS.
i tried to install the Vista Ver. and its not working
    please advice

This is from a post on the Thinkpads.com forum during the beta:
I forget the name of the very clever person who figured this out, but it wasn't me.
How to install Client Security Solution on Windows 7:
    1. Download the software from Lenovo at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 69986.html [didn't get the complete link when I copied and pasted, but CSS for Vista x64 isn't difficult to find on the Lenovo web site]
    2. Open the file tvtcss82v64_0023ww.exe to begin installation.
    3. When you get an error message about the wrong OS, do not click "OK." Instead, locate the file "Client Security - Password Manager.msi" (Look in "Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\{xxxxxxxxxxxxx}" - Note that the last folder is a randomly generated temp folder. The easiest way to find the right one is to look at the date it was created). Once you find the msi file, copy it to your desktop.
    4. Open the file from your desktop with Windows Install Editor using Wise Package Studio. Download a free copy at https://www4.symantec.com/Vrt/offer?_re ... _id=55188& [this isn't the correct link, but you can easily find it on the Symantec web site.]
    5. Go to the Setup Editor and find "Launch Conditions" on the Product Tab.
    6. Remove the Condition "VersionNT64=600 OR Installed" and save the package.
    7. Click "OK" on the error message that still remains on your desktop from attempting the installation.
    8. Run the .msi file from your desktop and complete the installation

  • A problem with Client Security Solution patch for Mozilla Firefox3

After I updated Client Security Solution to 8.20, the password manager cannot work in FF3 again. When I tried to reinstall the patch, it asked me whether to overwrite the files or cancel.  Then it indicates 'This patch has already been installed on this computer', but the problem exsits.

Borntofly, I am glad that you brought this up as I have not been able to successfully use FF3 with CSS 8.1 or 8.2 and have provided feedback in this thread:
    http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message?board.id=Special_Interest_Utilities&thread.id=937&view=by...
As much as I would like to upgrade to FF3, I have not had any success in either using the manual configuration changes noted in the above thread or by using the CSS Patch for FF3 provided by Lenovo on 8/6/08 found here:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-70132
This patch appears to duplicate the manual efforts provided by member KTP in message 12 in the above provided link from what I can see.
I have never had an issue using the TV password manager and IE7.  It is a very reliable combination.
I have no issues at all using FF 2.0.0.16, CSS 8.1 or 8.2 (now on 8.2), and Thinkvantage (TV) Password Manager 3.00.0106.00 (came with CSS 8.2).  I have never had Lenovo Password Manager on my T60.  Everything works reliably well with this combination.
In 3 hours of work yesterday, I was able to get TV Password Manager to show up in the FF3 add-ons as TV Password Manager 3.01 and this is the only way I was able to make it work, but only for a single browser session:
    1. Tools --> Add-Ons
    2. Disable TV Password Manager, then restart FF3
    3. Tools --> Add-Ons
    4. Enable TV Password Manager, then restart FF3
    5. TV Password Manager will work for the duration that I am using the browser session
Once I close FF3 and reopen it, TV Password Manager no longer works.  The only method I have found to "reset" everything is to perform the above sequence, but again it only works for the single browser session.  It is very consistent.  Although in does not show this in the Add-Ons page, it almost appears that the TV Password Manager add-on is disabled after I close the browser and needs to be manually disabled then enabled as noted above.  If this is due to a conflict with other software on my laptop, I have not been able to determine this.
In my efforts yesterday, I spent time uninstalling CSS 8.1 or 8.2, FF, and even removed registry entries related to these packages in order to start with a fresh install, all without any success.  I tried fresh installations and added the manual changes promoted by KTP and also tried fresh installations using the Lenovo patches, all without success.  I made attempts to troubleshoot to root cause by removing all add-ons except TV Password Manager, and also tried preventing certain software from installing at startup via msconfig, as well as multiple settings changes within FF3, all to no avail.  Again FF 2.0.0.16 continues to work very well with little effort on my part.  I simply install the software and ensure that TV Password Manager 2.0 in installed in the add-ons and that's it.
In the above FF3 thread, it appears that others have had success with KTP's changes so I am a little frustrated that I cannot make FF3 and TV Password Manager work reliably.  I have FF2 and IE7 working so I have plenty of good alternatives at this time.  I will post this at the FF3 above as well to see if anyone has any feedback.
Moderator(s), do you wish for this thread to be integrated in the original thread for this issue?

How do I re-enable client security solution on my Thinkpad W700 running Windows 7 64 bit?  It no longer brings up the "password manager".  Thanks

  • Client security solution TPM error message

I'm running XP on my T61 thinkpad and recently I started getting the following error message upon starting my computer:
"There was a problem connecting to the TPM (security device) on this computer. It is possible that anti-virus or firewall software is blocking the connection. A missing or disabled device driver could also cause this problem. Please refer to the online documentation for more information."
My thinkpad has also been starting to blue screen lately but I'm not sure if this is connected to the client security solution problem or not. If anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it!

Who has client security, restore and fingerprint reader all working together?  I did updates and when one works the other doesn’t.  If I could find all three that work I would be happy.  If you give me your versions numbers that works on yours that would be great.  I have a T60 running XP

  • Client Security Solution and Office 2010's Word and Outlook

I purchased my system June 16, 2009 with Vista downgraded to XP Pro so I was not able to purchase a upgrade disk from Lenovo to upgrade to Win 7 (deadline was June 22). This week I purchased the Windows 7,retail  64 bit Home Premium upgrade package at a local store.
I did the upgrade (clean install) Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium on my ThinkPad T400 type 2764-CTO. Also successfully installed all Win 7, 64 bit ThinkVantage software with System Update 4.
I manually Installed the file z909zis1032us00.exe Client Security Solution 8.3 for Windows 7 (64-bit only) Version: 8.30.0032.00 Note: When upgrading from Windows XP To use TPM with Win 7 erase TPM in the BIOS configuration utility. In the Security and Security Chip menu, locate the option to clear the security device referred to as Security Chip and clear. If not done you can install but not use the program.
Then I had this issue with Client Security - Password Manager version 8.30.00.32.00 and Office 2010's Word & Outlook. This was before I spotted a tread with the same issue between Password Manager 3.20.0320.00 and Office 2007.
I noticed that whenever I run Word 2010 or Outlook in conjunction with Client Security SolutionI I could not select text. I could no longer use CSS because of it...
I called Lenovo and was told that they do not support retail version of Win 7. (Remember they refuse to sell me their version a week earlier). Because I dint know what to do, I deactivated the TPM in Client Security and it solve the problem in both Word & Outlook.
On the following automatic System Update at the Lenovo site the system pick up something was wrong with Client Security (it did not when the TPM was activated???) and offered to download and install "Client Security Solution Office 2007 Patch 64bit". I did and following installation I re activated the TPM. The problem in Word & Outlook was no longer there.
Then on the next system update the system offered to download and install "Patch for IE crash with Password Manager (Win7) version 1.0". I had not experience that problem but downloaded and let the system install it anyway.
So the problem is not restricted to version 8. 3.20.0320.00 and Office 2007 as reported in the other thread. Because the patch was automatically downloaded fron the web site (Client Security Solution Office 2007 Patch 64bit)  I do not know if it is the same patch the was offered in that thread.
I hope this will help other people having the same problem.
    Claude

  • T61p 6460 74M - Client Security Solution Problem

I am having problems with the Client Security Solution running under Vista
I am able to log in OK using the fingerprint reader or password however after the system boots the CSS widow appears asking for password, I enter the password but it does not recognise this and requeste retry or cancel. If I retry the password entry it advises that "Authentication Failed". I then cancel and the CSS window offers to configure the CSS - hit "Yes", requests verification of identity with password - I enter password - response is "Authentication Failed" and back to square 1.
Can the CSS be reinstalled and then reinitialised. This problem may have arisen after I upgraded my Norton Internet Security 2007 or 2008 to NIS 2009, or when I reset Internet Explorer 7. I note at this time the Password Manager dissappeared from IE7.
Does anybody have some advice please since this useful function - Password Manager - has now been either disabled or removed.
    Regards Chris R.

I had problem with CSS also after installing (maybe) Norton Update. No answer from CSS at all any where, and I could not start it it either.
I reinstalled it with the application:
    C:\Program Files\Lenovo\Client Security Solution\css_admin_vista_launcher.exe
An then it works again - installation will delete all store passwords!

  • Client Security Solution - System Key Recovery - After Lenovo Service

I have a T61p running Windows 7, which I recently had to send to Lenovo for service after the video failed. According to my repair summary, the motherboard on the computer was replaced.
I received the laptop back today, and now when I log on, the system comes up with a window from Client Security Solution asking me to "verify my identity" with "reason: system key recovery."
Unfortunately, the program will not recognize my password, and I get an error message that authentication has failed.
I tried calling Lenovo's support number, since the problem seems to be directly related to their replacement of the motherboard, but I received the response that "that's a software issue, we can't help you."
Any help on this is much appreciated!

    hey shannonw,
could you try uninstalling the Client Security Solution software and then reinstall.
once done report back on what happen after.

  • T61p Client Security Solutions + Password Manager + Two Operating Systems

    Greetings.
I am running both XP and VISTA on my T61p.  I use the client security solutions password manager feature for websites and network shares.  Since my model has the biometric scanner instead of entering the user ID and password I just swipe my finger.  The issue is that when I first setup client security solutions it creates some system key that I assume is tied to the security chip hardware.  Once I have it setup and working under one operating system it fails to authenticate me under the other operating system.  It brings up a windows that says, "Verify Identity" / "reason for authentication:  system key recovery"  Why am I not able to use this feature under both operating systems?
    Thanks for your time.
     XSYLUS

    Thanks for the reply.
I was using an older version of RnR, however, after the attempt to re-install, I upgraded to the latest version.  It still errors out.
As to your second guess, I was hopefull this was the fix, I had forgotten to go through the registry.  I deleted an empty CSS folder in the Common Files folder.  And found several registry entries which have now been deleted.  I don't believe I missed any.  But unfortunately no luck.  I cleared the chip again as well.
If it adds any clues, the system update was not working either.  But the language fix posted on the forums resolved it.  If I remember correctly the first time I tried to reinstall CSS it did ask a question/comment about language not matching.  I could be wrong, however, there have been alot of attempts.
I spoke with tech support on the phone with the only suggestion being a clean restore of the laptop which I would like to avoid.
    Thanks again.

  • HP client security looking for fingerprintscanner that isn't there.

Whenever I want to log onto my laptop I have to wait for the fingerprint scanner software to say that my fingerprintscanner isnt there. After that notification I can just log on with my password. My question is: how do I get the software to stop looking for a scanner and take me to the normal login screen immediately?
Extra piece of information: if I run the HP client security app I always get the final screen of initialization and cannot change any settings.
A lot of thanks in advance!

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
Keep in mind that I don't own a business notebook -- I don't run your flavor of Client Security software although I am familiar with the security software that runs on the consumer HP notebooks.
Please do make sure you have the means to log into your computer prior to removing the program.
    A couple of ideas:
    Before you make any changes:
Create a Restore Point:   Create a Restore Point – Win7 OR  Create a restore point Win8
Caveat:  Windows 8.1 does include its own Native fingerprint Logon software that is NOT dependent on Client Security software.  Removing the Client Security program does not affect the Windows Native Logon software.  Should that software exist and be active on your system, it must be handled differently.  You might easily dissuade both the Client Security and the Native Logon
Windows key >>type anywhere on the screen  pc > Click on PC Settings >
            Accounts > Sign-in options
If PC Settings does not stop Client Security from bugging your trip:  If you are not interested in using the Client Security software -- for whatever reason -- then I should think that you could uninstall the program from your computer from Programs and Features.
If you do not have an extra admin account on the system, you might consider adding one -- you don't need to USE the account -- but it might "save your backside" down the road.  You do not want to be the one who writes in and says, "I am locked out of my computer!"
Create a User Account with Administrative Privileges – Windows 8-8.1
Reminder:  An extra admin account will not protect you from the lockup of the bootup BIOS password that happens to so many people.  Locking the BIOS at boot usually only locks out the owner, by the way.  Smiling.
Once you uninstall any program, Restart / Reboot the computer -- even if the system does not insist upon the reboot -- and log in.  Windows loves a good reboot!

  • Unable to recognize integrated smartcard reader by Client Security Solution

Hi, I have a W510 with an integrated smartcard reader. I tried to setup a new smart card, but at Client security solution ver. 8.30 over a windows 7  64 bits, is not recognized. Accessing the CSS software, I choose the Advance menu, an the option "Setup smartcard" always remains not highlighted, that means that the CSS software doesn't recognize the Smartcard/smartcard reader. The smart card reader driver is recognized by the system devices and it's installed well, the system said that is working correctly but I'm not able to access the "setup smartcard" option at CSS SW. I updated everything from Lenovo site and still doesn't work. Someone has any clue or idea about this? I'm trying to setup a Encryption Smart Card, I don't  have idea about what kind, but it's new from an Omnibook (a pack with 5 smartcards) and it comes label with "an imagineCard Solution" label. it has a round chip instead a square chip like the credit cards.
I really appreciate all your advices about this.

Yes, CSS software has the option to setup a smart card (as is mentioned at CSS deployment guide from Lenovo for CSS 8.3), but the software doesn't recognized the smartcard once I plug into the Thinkpad. The main purpose  for the smart card will be authenticate the user using smartcard allowing to work when it's inserted and stop to work once it's retired from the laptop. The chip and all security options are enable using CSS.
Please let me know how to solve this or give me the software/middleware to recognize the smart card for W510.

  • The power meter, and Client Security Solution, Rescue & Recovery problems?

    Hey guys,
I just love my Lenovo X61s...
Everytime I boot it up(BTW, I run XP) I login and CSS asks me to verify my authentication, and always fails. I HAVE read posts by other people reporting the same problem, and I've read that clearing the TPM thing in the BIOS will solve it, but in my case it just doesn't!
Also, a power meter just beside the System Notification Tray, doesn't always show up, and hence sometimes when I shut down, a 'PwrBnkGndWindow' end program window pops up! Can anyone please please help me in solving my problems!?

Based on your description I don't think Rescue & Recovery or Client Security Solution have any value for you.

  • Client Security Solution CSP Only

    Hi,
We have a bunch of t430, t440s in our environment. I would like to encrypt certificates using tpm. (the hdd is already encrypted with mcafee)
I have installed client security solution and it provides a CSP for tpm, which does the trick. I've created MS CA templates and able to deploy certificates.
But the question is, We dont want to have password manager or additional software in our clients, so I would like to know if you guys figured out to install (or register) only the CSP part of the software?
By the way, anybody out there knows a proper way to reach lenovo support for techical issues? Our reseller has limited knowledge and I dont know how to get technical support.
