When closing any single tab exits firefox entirely why? just started happing

Just rebooted system (Windows PC) on return from holiday.
When closing ant tab instead of that single tab being closed, Firefox closes completely even though I have not touched the main "X" how can I reset or resolve this issue?

< (1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste "tabs" and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab preference to switch its value from true to false.
Press Ctrl+n to open a new tab, then Ctrl+w to close the tab. Helpful? >

hello g.hill250, can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once? if not, maybe an addon is interfering here...

  • Every time I try to print a file to Adobe PDF, I get the message "Firefox is not responding". When I try to cancel the print job, all of my Firefox tabs shut down. This just started today. Up until today, I could print a page to Adobe PDF with no problem.

The print dialouge box comes up. I select print to PDF. Another box comes up and says it is preparing the document (This is the way it has always been). Then, nothing. It says Firefox is not responding. If I try to close out the print box, it not only closes the page I was on, but any other open tabs in Firefox. How can I fix this?

I didn't see that I could edit the question before "I answered myself." I updated the question.

  • How to prevent video playback from getting paused when switching to another tab on Firefox for Android?

In Firefox for Android 27.0, if you play video in one tab and while it's playing you switch to another tab, the video gets paused. I want the video to continue to play while I'm viewing another tab (so I can at least hear its sound!).
    How can I do that?
How can I prevent Firefox for Android from pausing video playback when switching to another tab?
    Thank you very much.

    Hi hamid_ss,
Currently Firefox for Android does this by default with embedded players. Some sites go automatically to full screen too which may be what you are running into. Try it.

  • Desktop order changes when closing any app

    Hello to all.
When i use multiple desktops and i closing any app (from top menu or from dock) the order of desktops is changing, usually desktop on that i close the app is swapped with near desktop. For example, i have four desktops 1 2 3 4, when i close an app on desktop 3 desktop order became 1 3 2 4. This happens only when i close an app from unactive desktop, for example, if i now on desktop 1 and closing app from desktop 3 while still remaining on desktop 1.
Maybe someone tell me how can I fix?

It's a normal feature. When the Mac is connected to the projector, change the desktop picture first. The settings should be remembered that way.

  • When I go to a website, I get a menu of the website (a list down the left-hand side of the page) rather than the home page itself. Using internet explorer, I get to the home page. Why not on Firefox? It just started happening recently

I updated firefox a couple weeks ago, but updating has never caused this problem.
I installed a program to help the computer run more efficiently, called "Fix-it Essentials," and that may have caused the problem, though it didn't for the first couple weeks I used it.
So I still can't get to the homepage of many websites and navigate as I want to.

Simple really. The first 3 articles have steps in them, but not in this order.
#First, with Firefox closed, remove the toolbars from Windows ''Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs''. After the window populates, look for the Toolbars; if there, click on them and click on the button to the right of it that says "Remove". Then restart your system ''Start > Shut down > Restart''
    #*Article --> http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_toolbars#Uninstalling_via_Windows_Control_Panel
#Second, start Firefox and check in Firefox Add-ons: '''''Add-ons > Extensions'''''. Look for Yahoo Toolbar or Babylon and try to remove by clicking "Remove" or "Disable".
    #*Article --> http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons <u>and</u> http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Cannot%20uninstall%20an%20add-on
#Restart Firefox by exiting (''Firefox button > Exit'' or ''File > Exit''), wait a few seconds (10-30), then click the Firefox desktop icon to start Firefox and test to see if the problem is resolved.
The last 3 articles are for other steps to take if the above does not work to solve your problem.

Launch the Console application and look under "User Diagnostic Reports" for crash logs related to Safari. Select the most recent one and post the contents -- the text, please, not a screenshot.

  • When my iPhone rings so does my iPad. Just started doing this since I did the ios8 update

WWhen my iPhone rings so does my iPad it just started doing this when I updated to ios8 why?

Hi, I just got off the phone to Apple Support, my second call on the subject.  My first call a  day or two ago was answered by a rep who told me to turn off Handoff to disable Continuity. Today, the rep had the correct info:  A FaceTime setting of all things!!
Both he and I are submitting a feedback to Apple Development to change how Continuity works.  Rather than turn it off and on, there should be additional function and settings so an iPhone user can decide what happens when the iPhone switch to go to Silent/Vibrate mode also disables the Continuity feature from ringing another device (e.g., iPad).
    Let's see what happens.

  • FireFox doesn't appear to shut down completly when I quit, when restart it asked to exit FireFox eventhought it closed. When shut down computor error messeage comes up ' ns AppShell: Event Window end now and computor with shut down using 5.0.1

This happens after first time opened and closed. If I try to open from desk top, hour glass shows for a few seconds then goes away and FireFox doesn't open.
If after opened once and try to use 'url' link for e-mail (outlook express) it doesn't open the link and ties up e-mail.
Shut down computer and error box comes up 'ns AppShell: Event window' end now and computer will shut down.

  • Usually, Firefox closes when closing the last tab on it. Now it doesn't. How do I change it back to closing when the last tab is closed?

I've checked my about:config settings beforehand since I hear the setting for this is usually in there. It's still the same and hasn't been changed. As far as I know, I haven't downloaded any add-ons recently that would cause this change. None have been installed recently. Here's a screenshot of the about:config.

    Did you try Safe Mode?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

  • DW CS3 crashes when closing open pages/tabs

So, I have no rhyme or reason for why this happens, but it happens often. When I have open pages I am working on - 1, 2, 5, 8, 10 - it does not matter, and I go to either (1) command W or (2) hit the little close "x" on the open page/tab.. sometimes DW just crashes. Like I said, there is no pattern to when and if it will crash, no pattern to if it happens if I click the "x" or try Control W and no pattern if I have 2 pages or 10 pages open.
The real outcome issue here, besides just the simple PITA factor for such a costly high end app to be doing this, is that I can no longer "undo" anything I was editing.
Any ideas on why or how to fix?

Have you put that particular page through the validators to see if there are other issues on the page - just to be sure.  I've truly not heard of such a thing happening when using width auto.....
