When combining PDFs Acrobat XI Pro crashes. It manages to save the newly created document but the resulting crash is really frustrating. Any input would be welcome, thanks!

Just as the post said, I have a user that frequently combines PDFs. When she tries to combine documents, it crashes, although it does save the new document.
The crash takes away from her productivity and she isn't pleased as this was also happening with Acrobat 9 Pro that we just upgraded from. Any ideas on why
this is occurring would be most welcome. Thanks!

Acrobat versions prior to 9 had a bug which allowed you to do what you did. In Acrobat 9 this bug was fixed. In order to do what you want you need to certify (apply special certification digital signature with your certificate -- it is "Certify (Visible/Invisible)" choice in the "Work with Certificates") your document first. In the process of certification you can specify which modification permissions you allow the users of your document to make after signing. Certification signature must be the first signature in the document.

When setting up my email account on the iphone 4s- it just stays on verifying.
    Any ideas whats wrong?
    Many thanks

The verifying message can take longer than usual as it needs to obviously verify.
Sometimes the program can become way-layed and stop working.
A few suggestions i have to make would be:
Click the home button twice, hold down the apps until they shake, and delete the mail and settings applications open.
Then reload the email and try and verify again.
Another suggestion would be to hard reset the phone, which would involve holding the home button and the lock button together which evidently crashes the phone.
That could refresh the data and allow you to access your email.
Similiarly you could set up another email address using the same email operator and see if that works.
If it doesnt, it might be worth trying a different email address e.g. Trying googlemail or hotmail.
Not sure how you set up your email account but try either of these methods.
Go onto settings > Email, contacts and calanders > add account > Choose your email type > enter username and password.
The other way would be to go into the mail app and set your email address and password through that.
If all else fails, try downloading a 3rd party application which can run your email account.
e.g. I have a Googlemail 3rd party application which i find is more accessibly friendly.
    Best of luck.

  • Error when combining PDFs in Acrobat 4.0

My workstation is a bit of an older computer and it only has Acrobat 4.0 so I'm hoping people will remember enough about it to help me. I've been making several PDFs out of a large group of old Word Perfect documents and I need to combine them into a single PDF. It has been going well for the first 8 parts, but the 9th and 10th are giving me an error message. It says that "These documents contain subset fonts that have the same name and cannot be merged."
I'm hoping someone here will know what that means and will be able to advise me on how to solve this problem. Thanks.

I'll give that a try, thanks. It's a fairly old set of files I'm working on so it would be great if I can make this work for a single integrated PDF.
If you do have AA4.0, I would appreciate it if you would check that as well. The files are going to come out to around a 250 page document when I get them all assembled and I'm not sure exactly which fonts are causing the trouble yet.

  • How to maintain signatures when combining PDFs

    Dear Forum,
I have an issue when combining PDF files, where the original files with electronic signature field added in Acrobat Pro, the signatures disappear. Is there a way to stop this from happening? I've checked the security setting and currently have everything in the summary settings as allowed, but still the signatures won't carry through into the combined PDF.
    Anyone have any solutions?

You absolutely can't combine signed files without destroying the signatures, because signatures apply to the WHOLE file, always. Consider using a portfolio instead.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro Extended: Enable commenting in Save As-ed PDFs by default

    For Acrobat 9 Pro Extended:
When using Save As to save a PDF, is it possible to have Commenting and Analysis enabled for that saved PDF by default?
What I currently must do: Open the PDF, choose Comments > Enable for Commenting and Analysis in Adobe Reader, at which point Acrobat 9 Pro Extended prompts me to save the file.
What I would like to do: Have Save As automatically enable commenting & analysis by default.
I can't find any controls for that, so suspect it's a manual process each time...(?)
Note, too, that this question was asked for Acrobat 8 Pro but went unanswered, which further leads me to believe enabling comments may well be a one-by-each process. Sigh...

    No.

  • Is there a Maximum file size limit when combining pdf files

I am trying to combine files 8 PDF files created with i Explore using Acrobat XI Standard, the process is completed but when opening the file not all 8 individual files have been combined only the first two have been combined, the process shows all eight being read and combined.
I can open and view each of the original 8 individual files and read the content without any issue, the largest of the eight files is 15,559kb and the smallest is 9,435kb
if anyone can assist that would be most appreciated

    Hi Tayls450,
This should not have happened as there is no maximum file size limit when combining PDFs.
Please let me know if there are some password protected PDFs also?
Also, I would suggest you to choose 'Repair Acrobat Installation' option from the Help menu.
    Regards,

  • Acrobat Pro XI when installed over Acrobat 9 Pro removes LiveCycle Designer.

Acrobat Pro XI when installed over Acrobat 9 Pro removes LiveCycle Designer.  Forms Central can't open LiveCycle Designer Forms so what do you do?
I have uninstalled XI and re-installed LiveCycle Designer only.  On re-installation, I chose not to uninstall version 9 and to do a customer set up (not installing forms central).
LiveCycle is now working along with Acrobat ProXI

LiveCycle Designer is no longer distributed as part of the Acrobat release. I think it is available as a separate product. At this point, Acrobat provides the AcroForm type tools (kind of hard to get to, just as in some previous versions) and the option for Forms Central. The whole focus has changed. I suspect that others may be in the same situation of trying to get their forms to interact in Acrobat or Forms Central, but at this point I do not think there is any way to back Designer forms into either of the two current formats. Not much help, but a comment in any case.

  • Batch change color of existing highlights in a PDF (Acrobat X Pro)

I'm trying to find a script or action that will batch change the color of some existing text highlights in a PDF.  The document shows the text being highlighted, but the highlight color is extremely light such that it is visable only with unnecessary effort.  Idealy, I'd like to create a script or action that would identify all of the highlights in the document and change their color to a more standard and visable yellow instead of the washed-out and barely visable yellow I have now.
    Thanks!
Edit:  I'm using Acrobat X Pro in Windows.

You can do this with JavaScript. Note that it could be a problem with the color or the opacity setting, or both. For more information, see:

  • Sorting files when combining pdfs?

Ok, I'm not quite sure how adobe sorts files when combining pdfs, but it seems to be somehow different from MS XP.  Anyway, what I want to do is combine a bunch of pdfs together which are labelled A 1, A 2, A 3... However, I'm finding that when sorting them by name in adobe to combine them in the right order that the 1's, 2's, and 3's get grouped together, where they are then not sorted numerically.  For instance A 2 gets sorted with A 20 and A 200.  Even when I use MS XP to rename (e.g. A (1), A (2)) or use Adobe to extract files from a pdf the files are named in such a way that this always happens.  Anyway to get around this without manually sorting the files?
A better example of what happens:
    A 1
    A 10
    A 11
    A 12
    A 13
    A 14
    A 15
    A 16
    A 17
    A 18
    A 19
    A 100
    A 2
    A 20
    A 21
    A 22
    A 23
    A 24
    A 25
and so on and so forth... where I would like
    A 1
    A 2
    A 3
    A 4
    A 5...

Looks like a lexicographic ("dictionary" or "telephone book,") order and not numeric order. You could add leading zeros to have all the file names have the same length.

  • Adobe Acrobat NI Pro doesn't recognize my wireless scanner, a Canon MG5520, but it prints from the same MG5520. This is ridiculous!

Adobe Acrobat NI Pro doesn't recognize my wireless scanner, a Canon MG5520, but it prints from the same MG5520. This is ridiculous!

I just used the "Quick Menu" in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro after wasting hours several days when the SSID and Network key/password were already activated and the Adobe software claimed no scanner was available. . These Adobe user manuals are next to useless. Now I'm still dealing with this problem: "Save As was unable to find tables in the document No file was created." (i.e., from the pdf file I created using NI). Well it's obvious there are tables in the pdf, but so far I haven't been able to get a result to determine the intrinsic accuracy of Adobe's pdf to Excel capability.

  • How do i stop photoshop cs4 from quitting unexpectedly when saving a photoshop pdf? i attempted to download the adobe drive 5 but the installation keeps failing.

How do i stop photoshop cs4 from quitting unexpectedly when saving a photoshop pdf? i attempted to download the adobe drive 5 but the installation keeps failing. I went through the process of clicking through the how to's and the troubleshooting and came to the conclusion that I need to install the adobe drive 5 but I can not complete the installation. I may be incorrect on this so I need immediate assistance as I have poster and ad deadlines. I also tried disabling the gatekeeper and solution 3 on the troubleshooting of slow saving on photoshop.
    Any help is much appreciated!
    Thank you!

Are you attempting to save the file to a network location instead of your local hard drive? If so, this is probably why you are encountering an issue and why Adobe Drive would be the solution. As we've documented, it is a bad idea to open from or save directly to a network source: Networks, removable media | Photoshop | CS4 and later. Drive can help you get around this by setting up an Adobe supported virtual connection to the network. Thus, if installing Adobe Drive is the solution you need and your need help with installing Drive, please post to the Downloading, Installing, Setting Up forum.
If you are not saving to a network location, then Adobe Drive is not going to be the answer. Then we'll need to know more about the file you are saving.

Download AA 9 Pro from http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html. Make a new backup for your archive. You might also take the DVD to your library to see if it is a drive problem. You might also carefully clean the DVD with water and soap (do not use anything that would scratch the surface or you have destroyed it for sure) and see if that solves the problem. This is particularly an issue if you have finger prints or other crud on the DVD. However, it could also be a bad drive as I mentioned. Hopefully the download solves your problem in any case (I would backup the download to CD and/or backup HD).
