When composing or replying I get red dots under each word
When composing anything, including this message I get red dots under each and every word, and don't know how to get rid of it

It sounds like an issue with the spell checker dictionary. Please take a look at the [[Using the spell checker]] Knowledge Base article. Try right clicking in a text box and going to ''Languages > English (US) or en-US''. If you don't see that, then it probably means you don't have a dictionary installed and you should add one.

The red dot usually means it's in video mode and that red dot is a simulation of a normal video camera's red record button. If you are on photo mode you can zoom in by putting 2 fingers on the screen and spreading htem out (just like you'd zoom on a website)
but it's a digital zoom, not an optical zoom...so it's really the same as zooming in on the finished photo. Your image will be lower quality if you zoom in. (the iPad camera is mediocre at best to begin with) -
Can I opt to not get red dots on the icon
When an update is avaiable, a red dot is placed on the icon. I don't want this to happen. How can I stop this behavior? The option is to remove the icon from the dock. Is that what Apple wants me to do? (And consequently, not purchase anything from the app store.)
That's what the red dot is for. So you go and download the app, that way they let you know when an update is available, so you always have the latest version.
If you don't like it, just remove it form the dock and use the Launch Pad to start your apps. I set mint to activate with CTRL_ARROW UP. Love it.
I actually cleaned all junk from my dockm left only the bare essentials (mostly just built-in apps) and started using launch pad very heavily - minus the annoying app store red dots whih drove me up a freaking wall, same as you.
I know you can modify what the red dot displays in Mail, but I don't think you can disable red dot in wither Mail App Store or iWeb apps. -
In Yahoo Mail, when composing an email I get an "Asking to leave this page" panel; it does not matter whether i choose stay or leave, the panel pops up again....and again...the only way out is to Force Quite Firefox and start all over...help please...
Thanks for responding....but isn't your potential solution designed for Windows users? I have a Mac.
If it does apply to Mac, I am also hoping for something simpler as this could take weeks to isolate the problem and it would be more efficient to use another browser for mail

Name of Filename getting padded with + after each word while saving it

We are upgrading from EP6 SP16 to EP7 SP10.
In one of our application we have a link on click of which an XML is generated while saving that XML the name for that XML file name is getting padded with <b></b> after each word like <b>XMLformat001.xml</b> and that XML is getting saved as <b>XMLfor+mat001.xml.</b> instead of XMLformat001.xml.
Please help us out

From language was English. To language was Spanish.
While copying to language text, I had left blank spaces after every Spanish word. The blank space was becoming \r\n while getting displayed in portal.
The issue got sorted out once I removed blank spaces after Spanish word.

I have a c310, when printing photos I am getting red tint in every photo I print.
I have cleaned the print head. I have tried different papers including HP premium photo and still get the red.

hi im getting a red dot next to some of my music, when I try to play , it seems to only relate to my music selection that was not purchaseed from Apple , from memory it all seemed to go wrong when I ran updates. The red dot is also present on my laptop , is there anyway I can restore all my music to play . Thanks john
If you didn't move to iCloud, do it. Then, go to System Preferences > MobileMe and delete it. Finally, go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts, delete MobileMe email and configure mail

I really have been using Tbird for years and I can't get the options for italics etc to show when composing or replying. I'm an editor looking for job so this is relevant. Please save me from Outlook. Thanks.
I believe you can specify italics by putting a slash before and after the text, bold is done using asterisks before and after text, and underline is done using the underline character before and after text.

Iphone calendar entry comes up with red dot?
I entered an entry on my iphone calendar that somehow had a red dot associated with it. As opposed to either blue or green, home or work, the standard calendars I have. Sync between my iphone entries and the mobilme 'cloud' has been working fine except for this one entry. It doesn't appear on the mobilme server's calendar nor any of my ical's on my computers. I don't know how this red color was assigned to it, because I didn't, at least not on purpose. Any thoughts?
How annoying. I just found this too. Right after I re-signed up with Apple's less than stellar MobileMe service b/c I can't find any other way to sync my contacts and calendar. What a waste of $99 per year for something so simple considering how much this phone can do.
Anyway, here;s what i have found:
When inputting a new appt in iPhone - with MobileMe in effect - I now see an option called Calendar (under "Repeat" and "Alert" in input screen). When I leave new appt in default iPhone calendar the date gets red dot and does NOT sync with MobileMe. So - and here's the annoying part - the only way I can make sure my newly input appts get synced to MobileMe and my Outlook on PC is if I take the additional 3 button clicks/steps to click "MobileMe" in Calendar section.
If I do that then the appt gets a blue dot and syncs properly across the board
I am very VERY disappointed and how unsimple (unApple) they have made syncing contacts and calendar with this phone. If anyone else finds diff, please tell me -
External display problems, Red dots.
Display on external monitor is plagued with red dots and horizontal lines, this only occurs with certain resolutions (particularly high resolutions). I have a late 2010 revision of the Macbook Air ultimate 13inch, using a Griffin mini-display to DVI/HDMI (i have tried both HDMI and DVI), display is an ASUS 24inch (have also tried a dell 23inch, to the same problem). I would really like to be able to use this display with my Air but the red flickering is annoying to view.
I have the same problem. I bought my Retina Macbook early so Jun 2012 I think and I got a new one for work Early 2013. Both have the same problem. I had the LCD burn in problem with the first one and when I asked apple about the red dots while they were replacing the display they said it was because it was trying to push too much data to the external display. I seriously doubt that but they said there would be an update to fix the problem which never came.
Right now my guess is that the DVI adapter I have maybe suspect but I haven't tried to replace it yet. -
When the little dot is visible in the middle bottom portion of a day, it is supposed to signifiy that there are appointments on that specific day. This is the way it works on all months before October 2008. Every day on and after October 1, 2008 now has a dot! This is frustrating because only a few of those days should have the dot to signify an appointment.
I have the same annoying issue. It happend recently, though I cant tell exactly when this started - but I noticed it today.
I have tried to turn off Calendar sync on the iPhone, but as soon as I turn Calendar sync back on, I get a dot on each and every day. I have looked though the calendar on both the iPhone and on me.com, to see if I have an appointment that ends before it starts, going back 1 year and going forward 1 year - I found none.
I did delete some weird multiple-day appointments, but the problem remains.
Is it really true that you cant delete Calendar content from the iPhone, and that you have to somehow get it to sync an empty calendar? That sounds really odd to me.
Is it possible to force a sync through iTunes (using the cable) before syncing with MobileMe?
It is really annoying to have a calendar that shows appointments on each and every day so really hope someone can assist me in starting fresh on the iPhone, without deleting the calendar data on MobileMe -
When i get a new facebook message or tweet the little red dot does not appear on my phone. Does anyone know what I need to do?
Try Settings>Notifications>Twitter>Badge Icon>ON. Do the same for Facebook and any others. See if that helps.

My iphone 4 is not working since last 42 hours.
yesterday morning i found my iphone4 switched off and i was trying to swtich on my ipphone 4 but i was failed.
so i thought i had to put in charge. but th also itwas not charged...and yesterday night i found red dot just above spreaker in front side. after some time it was diapear and my phone was charging...but again i failed to switch on...now today morning my phone accepted to charge n when it charge about 5-6% i could switch on my phone at that time no red dot apear at same place...and my iphone work normaly....but after few min i was not able to unlock screen and at same time i found same red dot on screen and with in few second my iphone switch off slowly and again i can't charge or switch on again.Hi Luies,

Hello. Since my last firefox update, I have been unable to type an email - the box within which one would usually type does not appear when I press 'reply' to a received email, or press 'compose'. The email provider is '123-reg.co.uk. I have been using both firefox and the provider ['webfusion Ltd/webmail123] successfully for well over a year. The provider says it is a browser problem. I can still add an attachment to the email header, which successfully can be sent, but the recipient gets my standard email 'signature' with font messages and the attachment. Can anyone help? About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

I cannot email photos from within iPhoto (v. 9.5.1). When I hit send I get a message: "Your email did not go through because the server did not reply." This happens for both my iCloud account and my Shaw account. What to do???
Are you able to email from Mail with those two accounts? If so:
1 - go to iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and delete both accounts. Now add them back and try again.
2 - a better solution IMO is to set Mail as the email client for iPhoto is iPhoto's General preference pane. This gives you better access to your contacts, a sent copy of all emails and, if you want a layout similar to iPhoto's, photo layouts located in Mail's stationary.
