Hey there odedran,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your iPod pops up for a pslit second in iTunes but then immediately goes away.
Depending on the version of your iPod the instructions may be different. From the following article, choose the model you have and try the troubleshooting steps therein.

I recently bought an Ipod touch 2nd gen, (Ebay). It's in great shape and seemed to be wiped clean.
When I connect (via windows computer) to Itunes with usb cord the Ipod icon shows, but the only function you can do is eject. When its in the upper right hand corner and you click on it all you get is a done button, when it's in the side bar right click and your only option is eject, left click has no effect. If I go to "file">devices it's as if there are no devices connected.
I purchased a song with Itunes on the Ipod itself, and it transferred to my library on the computer automatically .
I have an Iphone 5 and a nano that are still functioning with Itunes thru computer so I'm thinking the issue is with the Ipod touch. I've reset it several times, rebooted it, with no change.
nothing on the internet has helped, I called tech support and got disconnected. Should I take it to a retail store? I just don't know where to go next, I'm of course willing to pay for tech or repair. looking for suggestions.Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Does the ipod nano charge quickly when connected to a mac?
hi everyone.
I recently switched from windows to a macbook. i noticed that my ipod nano(second generation) charges quickly when connected to the mac as compared to when i connected it to my pc? is this possible or is there something wrong with my ipod? it is 11 months since i got my nano. kindly help.
this is my first post
Thanks in advance
NarenI assume you're talking about using the Apple cable with either component or composite cables. On a non-HD TV, the quality is quite good. I'm not sure what you mean about picture size. It doesn't letter box anything, if that's what you mean. Used to do it a lot when I went away for the weekend. It was an easy way to take iTunes rental movies with me and watch them on a big screen. I've never tried with my HD TV because i haven an Apple TV and there's no need.
Best of luck. -
IPod only charges when connect to the Mac
My iPod will only charge when connected to the Mac. It will not charge on any other cable or docking station. And, yes, I have tested the various cables and docking stations with other devices and the issue is clearly only with this one device. I am note sure what generation the device is, but it is old enough that it cannot run iOS 7. It is on iOS 6.1.5.
ThanksThen it seems that the other sources do not work satisfactorily. Do the other charging sources charge other devices?

MD513AE/A iPad Wi-Fi-16GB White - Model A 1458
I have purchase this from Dubai, UAE, some 2 years back.
I am NOT able to switch it on; when connected to power supply, the battery icon comes in but no signs of charging.
After some times the ‘Apple’ icon comes in. Tried simultaneous operation of Sleep and Power buttons, but of no use.
Sometimes a picture of cable and ITunes comes in; but not able to connect to
P C as there is no battery charge.Hi madhu254,

My iPad says "not charging" when connected to my Mac, but it does seemo sync. What am I missing?
A lot of computers (especially older ones) generally do not provide enough power to their USB ports to charge the iPad at a sufficient rate - it may still be charging slowly, and should be a bit quicker if the iPad's screen is off (if you leave it for a while and then disconnect it from your computer you may find that it's battery percentage has gone up). The wall charger is usually the most efficient way to charge the iPad.

Sarari icon shows but when I click on it with the mouse a question mark appears and it won't open
The safari icon shows but when I click on it to open a questionmark appears and safari will not open?
I am guessing that the library may reference some content which was not on the same drive - maybe it references some picture or music pulled from an iphoto or itunes library on another mac?
It does load the library, right? Can you skim or play the clips in there? Do some fail to play or show a warning yellow sign?
And, by the way 'SAN' stands for "storage area network" - don't worry about it, it does not apply. -
I'm unable to access content on my iPod Classic while it is connected to iTunes.
The iPod itself shows up and is set to manual management, but I am unable to view or play any of the content on it (music, movies, podcasts etc.).
I can click the tabs Music, Movies etc. but I can't see anywhere to access the files themselves, no music or movies are listed, I only have the option to 'Sync' with the iTunes, which I don't want to do as there is no content on the iTunes!!!
I just downloaded the iTunes program.
Very confused, pleaseee help ...Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc. -
When I try to sync my ipod it shows that I have 2 gig of "other" stuff and I don't know what it is and it is taking up space. How do I get it off?
You need to restore you iPod to gedure the "other" to its normal of less than 0.5 GB. A restore from backup works if the large other is not in the backup. Make sure that you turn off outo syncing (iTunes>Preferences>Device and check the box that says Prevent iPOds....syncing. Otherwise, the backup will contain the other.

The missing apps could have been done by setting the Restrictions that can hid those apps. If the backup was made with those retrictions set the the Restrictions are also restored.
Thus, if you get it to work restore to factory settings/new iPod, not from backup

I have enabled dictation but when I press fn twice 3 dots appear and wiggle then disappear. Do not see 'Microphone'
First you have to be in an App that can use dictation, which app where you using? Also Dictation does not work in Snow Leopard 10.6.7, you probably just need to update your profile if you bought Mountain Lion, please click Profile Update for instruction on how to do this.
