When copying or duplicating files, some images move

I'm using CS5 and CS5.5.
When copying or duplicating In-Design files, some of the images move slightly within the image frame while others
are perfectly fine. This doesn't happen every time, appears totally random, and can be rectified by relinking the images
in the original document and the new document.
Has anyone had a similar problem and if so are there any solutions?
Many thanks
Rick

Not enough information. What EXACTLY are you doing and how are you doing it?
Screenshots would help, too.

  • Error message when copying a music file from PC to BB

I get the following error message when copying a music file. Also I cannot delete any files.
"Cannot copy. The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."

Hello lcoyote and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Do you get the error on all media files or just one in particular? From where are you trying to delete files?
    Is your media card formatted?
If you aren't able to add/remove media, try formatting the card as shown in KB10527
If you currently have photos on the card, try to move them to the computer first as formatting the card will delete all data.
Let me know how you make out
    Thanks!

  • When downloading a large file, like a movie Internet Explorer automatically provides one with the choice of where to save it - e.g. "C" drive, but Firefox doesn't. How can it be done?

When downloading a large file, like a movie, Internet Explorer automatically opens a download window offering the choice to "Open" or "Save"the file. This provides one with the choice of where to save it - e.g. "C" drive, in the "My Documents" or "Desktop" folders but Firefox's download window doesn't. This has always frustrated me because I would rather use Firefox exclusively to access the Internet, but when it comes to saving files downloaded off the Internet, sadly, I have to revert to IE!

If you click on Firefox from the upper-left, then Options, a new window should appear. On that window, click on the general tab. In the middle of the window, you'll see options regarding your downloads, one of which says, "Always ask me where to save files." Click on the bubble for this options, then click Ok. From then on, you should always be prompted on where you want your files saved.

  • Allowing the copy of duplicated files

Hi, I'm backing up my old windows folders into my Mac.
Once I'm copying the files (drag and drop) the system stops because it detects duplicated file names. I'm aware of the duplicated names and I would like to continue, however the system is not allowing me.
The new hardrive is a solid state one, so, it is lots of times faster than the old one.
I'm going to clean duplicated names on the new SDD.
For now, I really need to copy duplicated files.
    Any suggestion?
    Regards
    Gab

You're copying from a (case-sensitive) NTFS filesystem to a case-insensitive one. There are files in the same folder with names that differ only in case, such as "foo" and "Foo". If you don't want to resolve those conflicts now, you can create a case-sensitive MacOS volume in disk utility, either on a storage device or a disk image, and copy the files to it.

  • Error when copying large (65bg) file to TC

I recently switched to aperture from iphoto and want to move my iphoto library file (65gb) to my time capsule for storage. I am using the hd in the TC for storage now, while my time machine backups go to a new external HD connected to the TC.
Problem is, when I try to copy the iphoto library file I get an error after it has copied 26.7mb. It says
"...can't complete the operation because some data in "iPhoto Library 1" can't be read or written. (Error code -36)"
So I rebuilt the library using iphoto library manager and had it put the new rebuild file on my TC. That worked, but the new file is 40gb instead of 65gb which is freaking me out.
I also tried making a copy to my internal drive to see if the file would copy at all. It did. Then I tried to move that file to the TC and got the same error, again at 26.7mb.
Any thoughts on why I can't copy this file? I have managed to write and read other files to the TC just fine. And the iphoto library file opens fine so it doesn't appear to be corrupt.

    Hi Rudolf,
Thanks, I looked into the erro but it does not give any clue what could cause the error. It just says number of error exceeded. I looked into the access database table and data seems fine. Now I am not sure if the error is causing by the reading from access
or writing to the SQL server. Is there a way to find out what is causing the error?
    Thanks.

  • When I try and view some images they fade to a large exclamation mark!

I recently upgraded my imac and have iphoto 9 installed.
Since importing images large numbers of the photos cannot be viewed as they display the exclamation mark. I am not sure that the two things are related.
Can anybody shed some light on this. My guess is iphoto cannot find files but this is odd as they were viewable previously even on the new machine.
    Richard

    Richard
The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
Try rebuilding the database. Hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    If that fails:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Delete file from original location and when copied size of file increases.

    hi !
I have 2 exe's both of 1.15MB which I want to move to another folder. The files are copied to the folder but the size of exe increases to around 350MB each. What can be the problem ?
    BufferedOutputStream bos=new BufferedOutputStream(new FileOutputStream(filename));
    int o=bis.read();
    do{bos.write(o);}while (o!=-1);
    boolean del=this.fpara.delete();
System.out.println(del);          Also, the file is not deleted from the original location even though I have used the delete function. The last line produces null output.

    And do follow coding conventions

If your original source is all jammed up like the snippet you posted, I'm not surprosed that you can't spot your mistakes.

  • Why I get CRC error when copying outlook.ost file?

My workstation is using NTFS, Outlook 2007 with Exchange 2007 server.
    My outlook.ost file is 1.7GB.
As my Outlook runs into problem, I tried to copy the outlook.ost file to another location for repair, but I keep getting CRC errors and the file was not copied.
I also tried to use winrar to compress it and it runs into the same CRC error.
Q#1. What causes this CRC error? hard disk error or software?
Q#2. How to repair such CRC error?
    Thanks.

    Hi Peter,
The cyclic redundancy check, or “CRC” error, indicates a bad spot/corruptions within the file that you are trying to copy and in lot of cases with your hard disk.
To make sure if the problem is with the .ost file or your hard disk, you can fire up a Command Prompt window, and then copy the file to NUL:
C:>CD (path of your .ost file)
    C:(path of your .ost file)>copy name.ost NUL
If this succeeds, the problem is with your .ost file. If this fails, it should be a hardware based disk issues.
If it's an issue with your .ost file, I'd suggest to run
scanpst.exe tool to repair your data file, then check if this fixed it.
When the issue is hardware based, you probably need to find Disk Errors in the System log of your Event Viewer. You can access the Event Viewer by going to:
Control Panel-> Administrative Tools-> Event Viewer
By the way, .ost file is actually a local copy of your mail items on the server. For a corrupted .ost file, you actually don't need to "copy the outlook.ost file to another location for repair". You can simply rename it to .ost.old
or delete it, and then re-launch Outlook to let it generate a new .ost file from server.

  • ITunes 8.1 hangs when copying new .m4a files to iPod

Recently Apple has changed their format from .m4p to .m4a.
I can transfer previously purchased albums(.m4p's) with out issue. New purchased albums (.m4a's) will not transfer to my nano or 80GB iPod. iTunes hangs and progress reads "Updating Files on "iPod Name" Copying 1 of 15". Once this happens I can not quit the process or even force quit iTunes. In fact the only way out is to force restart. It appears I can select a song at a time and that seems to work but when I select more than on iTunes hangs. I have replicated this on a 2GB iPod nano 1st Gen and 80GB iPod 5th Gen. I have several iPods in the house - iTouch 2nd Gen, iPod 80GB 5th Gen, nano 8GB 3rd Gen, 2GB nano and even an 05 Shuffle. Have not tried on the other iPod models.

After spending several hours with Apple Techs' John and Josiah we deduced that the issue was more than likely a communication issue but it wasn't 100% broken which was frustrating. Sometimes I could copy files with out hanging and the next time I couldn't and it would lock up iTunes. Well today I took it a step further and unplugged everything from my computer except the keyboard and the iPod usb cable. It worked! over and over again... syncing and manual music organization worked flawlessly. I then added each peripheral one at a time. The only 2 thing I have connected are a 2T WD MyBook (firewire) and a card reader which I honestly forgot was connected to usb when talking to the techs'. Well guess what the culprit was... The Digital Concepts 6 slot hi-speed 51-in-1 card reader. I actually started copying music to the iPod an then plugged in the card reader and iTunes hung.... when I removed the device it iTunes picked up where it left off and finished copying the files. I repeated this with 2 other iPods and had the same result. This is a pretty popular card reader and I bet this issue will come up for a few other people eventually - so I figured I would post my finding in hope to save others the headache. My solution is to simply unplug the card reader until I need it and never while trying to sync or copy music to my iPod.

  • Possible to preserve creation date when copying an email file?

    I'm using a PowerBook Pro 17" running Mac OS X 10.8.3.
I'm copying email files (both Apple Mail and Outlook 2011) by dragging them from their email folder to the desktop.  In the past, the creation date used to be preserved.  But tonight, the creation date is being replaced by the modified date (aka NOW!).  Since my emails are organized by creation date, this puts me in a tough spot.  Is there a simple (or even complicated) way around this problem?
    Thanks.
    Paul

One way to do it would be to place the files in a separate folder, then create a new folder of the same name on your external HD and use an application like SyncTwoFolders to copy the contents from one folder to the other.
Or simply burn that folder to a DVD.

  • Access denied when copying to Program Files (x86)

Hi, I'm trying to get a third party application to run properly in our environment.  It's on a server2102R2 machine in a domain running at the 2008 functional level.  In an effort to provide support, the vendor of the application wants to copy
a few dll files into the application folder in Program Files (x86).   Whenever we try to do so, we get an access denied error.  In an attempt to get these files to go, I have set the following local group policies:  In an effort to allow
access to the Program Files (x86)\Siriusware folder for copying files (and potentially updating this application), the following settings have been changed in local group policy:
    1. User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for administrators – *Elevate without prompting*
    2. Detect application installations and prompt for elevation –*Disabled*
    3. Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode – *Disabled*
I have also tried adjusting permissions at the folder level, but neither of these actions have had any effect; I still cannot copy files into this subdirectory of Program Files (x86).
I understand that the built in administrator account may have access to this directory, but I'm not sure this will work in the long-term, because I'm not sure how this will affect the future updating of the app.
If someone knows of a way to work around this, please let me share.  Also, if someone could point me to documentation on permissions and the UAC as it pertains to moving files around in modern server operating systems, please share.
    Thank you,
    Kevin

  • Error code 0 when copying a large file to a Mac OS Extended formatted drive

I always back up my photos manually by dragging a folder containing many folders containing many photos into an external drive that I immediately formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) the day I bought it 2 years ago. I now run into a Error Code 0 when I do this. The "mother" folder is 240 GB in size. As I stated, this drive has been formatted for the Mac, so I don't understand why it's (apparently) running into a problem peculiar to FAT32-formatted drives. My iMac has 16 GB of RAM, of which 10 GB was free, the last time I tried to do this.

    Well, you did mention...
so I don't understand why it's (apparently) running into a problem peculiar to FAT32-formatted drives
I kind of had to assume at that point the source drive was the one you formatted as Mac OS Extended two years ago, and the target drive was FAT32. If not, then I'm not sure why you mentioned FAT32 at all.
In that same thinking, error code 0 is directly related to FAT formatted drives.

  • Does OS X corrupt files when copying from SD card to desktop?

Using finder to copy a folder and its files from SD card to mac desktop seems to cause *some* files to be corrupted, specifically a handful of MP4 files from a FAT32 SD card  which was used in a digital camera. Using a binary/hex comparison tool reveals that some segments of the files contents were modified when copied from the SD card.
This error occurs when copying multiple files using Finder windows.  However, when copying the same files one at a time, the corruption does not occur.  This appears to be an OS level bug.  In reviewing past content, I found that dozens of MP4 files have been corrupted in the past 4 months by merely copying the files from the SD card to mac desktop using Finder copy/paste.
I am using OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.3

Well, like I said, the byte size in fact did *not* change.  So I'm not even concerned about that.  What *did* change is the content of those bytes and it doesn't matter what operating system you are using, the content of those bytes is *not* supposed to change.
Also, like I said before, if I copy the individual file (MP4) insead of the entire folder, and then do the binary/hex comparison, the byte data is identical. i.e.
    a) copying one file at a time produces an *identical* file on the HD, i.e. the byte count AND the byte content are precisely the same.
    b) copying a folder with multiple files produces a *different* file on the HD, i.e. the byte count is the same BUT the byte content differs from the original file.

  • Errors and slow performance copying lots of files between large hard drives

After upgrading to Snow Leopard, I have VERY slow file transfer speed with external eSATA drives. While trying to upgrade from a 1.5TB drive to a new 2TB drive, the copy took almost 24 hours and then failed on a large Fusion virtual OS file.
So I removed my eSATA card from my Mac Pro and connected the drives via FireWire 800. Same issue. I have the 10.6.1 update and reset the PRAM with no improvement.
Tried doing the copy with SuperDuper, and I have the same speed issue, but checking their log I see some of the files that Finder tried to copy, SuperDuper found another way to copy. Others it fails on. Here's a log of one of the files it could copy (but Finder couldn't):

There is indeed plenty of space left on the device... over 1.5TB in fact.
Not sure what is going on here. I have 4GB of RAM, and heard Snow Leopard needs twice as much as Leopard. Am I running out of RAM due to the large amount of files? Or is it some incompatibility with large drives and Snow Leopard? I did not have these problems with Leopard, and I was using these same drives.

I, too, am experiencing extremely long copy times (17 hours on 5GB) when copying numerous (200+) files from an external HD via FW 400. The same happens when I try to copy files using FW 800.
Is there anything I can do to reduce the copying times?
