When customising toolbar item only stays for current session, missing when Firefox is reopened

I want to add a 'Bookmarks' icon next to the 'Refresh' icon on the tool bar. When I customise and then click 'Done' the icon appears and functions correctly. The icon stays for the open session with Firefox. However after closing and then reloading the icon is not there. Any ideas please.

instead of my usual home page (BT Yahoo). I naturally clicked on the "Yes" option in the message, but rather than restoring my BT Yahoo home page, all that did was to insert the McAfee logo to the left of the search box in the top right-hand corner of the screen. The first time it happened, I had to search for the BT Yahoo page & then followed the standard procedure for setting it again as my home page. It worked only for that session: each time I shut down Firefox or restarted my computer after that, all I got was the blank "search page" & restoring the previous session was the only way to get back to BY Yahoo. How on earth do I make the home page setting permanent?
As far as I'm aware, I have done nothing to alter my search settings. However, I am anything but computer-literate, so I may have done/pressed something without realising it, but trying to understand what is now happening is far beyond my limited IT skills.

Issue with events not propagating when selecting toolbar items

Hey All,
I'm on OS X Lion using CS6 beta and observing events in Photoshop form an outside application using Cocoa's NSEvent#addGlobalMonitorForEventsMatchingMask.
It seems Photoshop is stoping the propogation of some events coming out of selection of toolbar items. Here's the issue:
There are two ways to select the Pencil tool from the toolbar. (Method A) I can click the Paintbrush, holding down for a second and releasing, then mouse move to the Pencil and click, OR (Method B) I can mouse down the on the Paintbrush and drag the mouse to the Pencil.
If I use Method A I get what seems to be every event associated with the interaction, BUT If I use Method B Photoshop seems to stop the propogation of a lot of drag events.
Are there any experts out there that have an knowledge of why this is, or if there are any known work arounds?

Ned, this is a bit over my head, but FYI (and your troubleshooting research), there are other methods to get alternate tools: ALT+click to cycle them, CMD/right-click to get the flyout, and Shift+Tool shortcut (unless you changed the setting in preferences)
BTW, method B is not the same as A? The only difference is that in A, there is a release, then a move to target area, then another click, while in B, we have a hold, then a move to the target area, then release.

What happens when a code is only valid for US customers?

First off i live in Canada, i ordered breaking dawn part 2 on amazon just so i could get the digital copy, but when i entered the code it just said this code is only valid for customers of the us store. is there a way i could download the US Itunes of use the code on something else? would ultraviolet work or do the same thing?

Not from the iTunes Store, no, not with that code. If the copy of the video you purchased was a Canadian release, contact the publisher of the video and ask for help. If you bought an import copy, then there's probably nothing you can do, though again you can contact the publisher and ask.
Whether the Ultraviolet code would work I can't say. You can try it and see.

Set $PATH for current session in Terminal

I want to modify the environment variable $PATH for the current terminal session. To modify it in $HOME/.profile (etc) is no option.
So I created a shell script called envsetup.sh which contains
ATLAS_HOME=/Applications/Development/atl-plugin-sdk
PATH=$ATLAS_HOME/bin:$PATH
export ATLAS_HOME PATH
When I execute the script, $PATH will only modified while running the script but does not alter it for the current session. But then I copy and paste it into the terminal, $PATH gets modified for the current session. What's wrong with it? On my Linux box, it works ...

This CANNOT work on your Linux box.
When you run a shell script (Mac OS X, Linux, HP-UX, Solaris, Tru64 UNIX, AIX, etc...), the shell script is runs in a child process. Any environment variables set or changed in that child process get destroyed when that child process ends, which happens as soon as the script ends. The parent process (your shell) will never see those child process environment variables. This has been true since the earliest versions of UNIX that I am aware of, and that goes back to at least '79.
Alternative approaches. You could create a shell function in your .profile
envsetup()
export ATLAS_HOME="/Applications/Development/atl-plugin-sdk"
export PATH="$ATLAS_HOME/bin:$PATH"
The next time you login, your .profile will run and you will have a new command "envsetup". When you invoke the command envsetup it will run within the context of your current shell, so those environment variables will be set and visible.
You could also create an alias that sources your envsetup.sh
alias envsetup 'source /path/to/envsetup.sh'
This would give you an easy to call command that would source into the current shell the export commands, as well as provide you with a script that can be sourced into other scripts that happen to need those specific exports.

I'm DBA and i want to find way to get object name whatever (package , procedures or functions) for current running statement in active session.
To clarify when i open session browser from toad i can see active sessions and see current statement for every session but without the name of the object.
Is there any way to know this point.

Error message 'The Outlook data file (.pst) failed to load for this session.' when adding PST in Outlook addin

Hi All,
I have an Outlook (2003-2013) addin developed using C# (NOT VSTO).
A new client (using the desktop client for Outlook 365) has got a COMException error message stating 'The Outlook data file (.pst) failed to load for this session.' at the code line where I add the PST store (using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.NameSpaceClass.AddStoreEx).
I have never come across this error message before and there is barely any mention of this message on any forums. The only question I could find regarding this has been asked mid 2014 and hasn't been answered.
I'm fairly sure this is not related to either DisablePST or PSTDisableGrow registry key settings as I check fore their existance and notify the user separately.
Could anyone help me out on how to resolve this? I do not know where to begin even.

Thanks for the reply.
I pass the location that the PST is to be created (as a string), and the OlStoreType.olStoreUnicode constant.
The client is using a network location to store the PST file (even though we advised them not to) - leading to many corrupt PST files (that they are apparently happy to live with), but this is the first time we came across this message.
I would assume the problem is with that file, as no other clients are having any issue like this.
Have you come across this error message? Do you know what sort of scenario could be responsible for it?
Or would I have to file it under "random problems generated by network PSTs"? :P

Checkbox for authenticated sessions missing in 3.6.3

I am a tech support person for users of Blackboard CE8, an online learning management system. We have told users of earlier Firefox versions to "Clear Private Data" and then check a box for authenticated sessions in order enable certain features of Blackboard. Now, it's "Clear Recent History" which I've done (again and again). There is nothing in 3.6.3 that pertains directly to "authenticated sessions." What, then, is the troubleshooting step in 3.6.3 that is *equivalent* to checking the box for authenticated sessions?

We ran this solution past the user with this problem, and it didn't take. We also tried these steps to ream out Java on the user's computer. (See the list of steps below). It still didn't take.
1. With no programs open, remove all versions of Java: Go to the Start menu, and choose Control Panel.
2. Open Add/Remove Programs (for Windows XP) or Uninstall Program (for Windows VISTA)
3. Remove ALL instances of Java.
4. Close all windows.
5. Install current version of Java: go to http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
6. Click the link Windows 7/XP/Vista/2000/2003/2008 Online ( http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=39502 )
7. Choose Run and follow instructions to install Java.
8. After installation, open Firefox and go to your course.
9. Be sure that popups are enabled in your browser or disable your popup blocker.
10. If you receive a Security Alert popup window, choose "Always trust content from this publisher" and then press Run.
11. You can now try to browse your computer to add an attachment, to see if you can see the My Files icon.
We have since advised the user to try using Internet Explorer 8, which is certified for use with Blackboard CE8. This is clearly not a desirable option from Firefox perspective.

TS4585 My phone will not turn on and when it does, it only stays on for a few minutes. The last time it said it was necessary to do a restore in itunes, but shut off again before i could read rest of warning

My phone was working fine last night. Plugged it into the charger and went to bed. Woke up this am to it off. It would not turn on. I tried a different charger and a different outlet. Tried several times to hold down power and volume and or the menu button. Finally, several hours later, holding the power and volume buttoon turned on the phone. Said had 1%battery, so i kept it plugged in for about 5 min. It went up to 2%. I started to look at recieved text, then it went dead again. Repeated the same steps and left it plugged in. It kept turning off. till finally, it went dim and a warning message came on to restore phone from itunes but idid not see the end of warning bc it shut off again. Now it will not turn on, but has the white apple symbol turning off and on over and over. I can not find the option to restore the phone, plus the phone is not on so the computer is not registering that its plugged in. I can not call out bc no landline and can not call tech support. Does anyone know why this is, or what to do?????????????

Your iPhone is in recoverty mode at the moment so to possibly get it back up and running you would need to do a restore as you have been trying. Follow the steps in the article below for the specific error messages you have been receiving. If after following all steps the issue remains book an appointment at a local Apple Retail Store to have the iPhone evaluated.

When saving library item, only OPEN pages updating (closed pages not updating)

When I save my library item it only updates the pages that are OPEN and not the ones that are closed. It starts the update process then stops after updating the open pages and never completes the process. I have to click "stop" after a minute or so. Then it prompts me to update the pages again.
How can I get it to update ALL pages associated with the library item?

Not sure why you wanted to implement beforePhase listener, but did you try commenting out your custom code and check? All the refreshTabContent does is to refresh the components that comes along with the template. It works fine for me. So, as Timo said, check your custom code or try commenting the code and narrow down the issue.

Ipod only charges for a few seconds when connected through USB

Hello. Thank you for reading. I recently got a replacement ipod. No problem with putting songs back on the new one. However, whenever i plug my ipod into the usb cord on my work computer to charge my ipod, the do not disconnect will come on and the ipod will charge for about 20 seconds and then stop charging and go back to the main menu on my ipod. The only way i can get it to continue to charge is to click on update my ipod on itunes, and that ain't fun. Help smarter ipod users, you are my only hope!

Apple Tv no photos. Home sharing only lasts for one session

My Apple Tv only shares photos for a while then my computers name disappears from head list I can only access Music after subscribing to I match and using I cloud. Have tried some ideas suggested by others with similar problems; and 4 calls with Apple TV support culminated in in 2 responses "we are not trained to assist with entering access ports in port forwarding. " Try calling BT re your home hub. Bt check out all ok with set up . Final response from Apple support "must be your Dell computer (only one year old and all is well!! Other people seem to feel abandoned by Apple. I had a response to an email as a last resort which was full of meaning less platitudes and attached 3 links to Apple support pages. Have now spent about 30 hours on this and next step is return to Amazon to see if they will exchange or refund. I do thinkl that Apple tv is a great concept. Why is it the Itunes store and paid for purchase areas always work fine. Am I being uinkind? If not please let me know of same problem and any fix that works because I am pretty fed up with it.
