If the program settings are set to hidden, it should be hidden. You do not need to specify any client settings. If you changed the program settings and the machines already had policy, you will have to wait up to your 60 minute policy setting or just manually
kick off a policy update to see the new hidden program.
If they are still getting the interactive install, then you need to troubleshoot if the machine has gotten proper policy. Run a 'Machine policy retrieval and evaluation cycle' manually, wait a few minutes and then test again.
Suppress program notifications are the tray icons and bubble notifications about installations happening. Hidden is the method in which the executable/msi will install.

  • I am having a problem trying to get the new version of itunes to download correctly to my laptop. I have updated my ipad to the new ios 7, and windows is showing that it has been downloaded but when I connect my ipad, it is saying I have to download itune

I really need HELP!!! I have a laptop that runs with windows vista, and I have been having issues trying to get it to download the new version of itunes that would be compatible to the new version of ios 7 that I have already updated on my ipad. I have downloaded this three times, it shows that the download is complete, but when I connect my ipad to my laptop it is still telling me that I have to download the new version again and it will not sync with my ipad until I do. Does anyone else have this issue and can anyone help me figure out how to correct it? I would be most grateful!!

  • I have just bought a new iphone 4 as an upgrade to my iphone 3GS.  How can I transfer all my apps and data to the new iphone 4 and keep facetime etc on the new iphone 4.  If I do a restore of the iphone 3GS I only get the 3GS apps (i.e. no facetime)

I have just bought a new iphone 4 as an upgrade to my iphone 3GS.  How can I transfer all my apps including saved levels in games etc. and data and folders to the new iphone 4 and keep facetime etc on the new iphone 4. When I have done this for someone else they got all their data etc but lost the Face Time App and teh iphone 4 looked like the iphone 3 screen.

There is no FaceTime app for the iphone, FaceTime is built into the iOS. Follow the directions here:

  • HT4897 I created an alias precisely because I wanted to make it the new default name and then quickly realized it wasn't possible. How long after deleting the alias will it become available again so that I can create a new account with it?

I'm trying to make iCloud mail my primary email but I'm concerned that I may have lost the perfect email address forever.

I have the same problem. After our wedding I've created an alias ([email protected]) to my actual AppleID Account ([email protected]). Now I'd the idea to delete the alias and my actual AppleID to create a new AppleID with ([email protected]).
Is there really no possibilty to do this?
Thanks in advance for quick and positive feedback.

  • HT1222 Hey, I've tried to install the new iOS 7.1 but it says that the installation cannot be completed and doesn't say why. I have more than 50% battery left but it still doesn't work, help?

It probably means you don't have enough available storage on your phone.  It takes space to store the download - THEN unpack it.  Best method is to use a computer with iTunes (This allows you to back up on your computer as well).
PLEASE:  Do not purchase iCloud storage space - this will not give you more room for the iOS 7.1 installation.

You are not addressing Apple in these forums, these forums are user to user.

  • I receive numerous messages in "Bulk Mail". Where do they come from and how can I prevent them from being received? Thanks

Once you're on a spammer's list, there's nothing you can do to stop the flood of e-mail messages. You can either control it, using spam filtering (which is what files those messages in the Junk Mail folder), or you can throw out your e-mail address and get a new one.
It's sad, but spam is simply a fact of life at this point, and there's nothing to be done about it. Legislation has been tried, with zero success, since most spam either comes from countries with no legislation or from personal computers that have been infected with malware and are part of a "botnet."

  • HT5624 Someone I don't know is using my email address as their Apple ID to sign and purchase apps ect and I keep getting notifications in my emails. How do I stop them from using my email address????????

If a person is using your email address, you should change your email password and make sure there aren't any forwards to some strange email address.
An example if you were using gmail, under account settings, a forward can be set up to send messages to another email address.
If your email address is say, you own domain, such as somename@somename dot com, make sure the forwards are forwards you set up.
If your email account was hacked and the bad guy has access, you need to cut him off, first by changing the password and second cut off any message forwarding to the bad guy if he set it up.  Just changing the password would keep a bad guy out, but if the bad guy set up a forward, he will still get your email.
A confirmation from Apple would have come to your email address in order to confirm that Apple ID.  If you are getting the other person's purchase notifications, you would have gotten a confirmation of that account from Apple.

  • I have a jailbroked iphone, and  it seems that it has some viruses how can I remove them from my iphone?

I have a jailbroked iphone, and it seems that it has some viruses how can I remove them from my iphone?

You have viruses because you jailbroke your phone, and now you're probably spreading them to other phones. Nice.
Jailbroken phones are generally bricked for good. Throw it away, it's junk.

  • Does the new MacBook pro 13" has asymmetrical fans (that the 15" with Retina) has?

The new MacBook Pro with retina display has more silent fans due to asymmetrical  fans. My question is, if this change has been applied to MacBook Pro 13" & 15" versions.
    Thanks.

    No it does not.....
The only Mac with the assymetrical blades is the 15" retina MBP.
And they are pretty darn effective(I can never hear the fans unless I open p something extremely power consuming and still they aern't as loud as my old Windows PC).
Mind you the MacBook can get a little uncomfortable if you keep the base in contact with your skin. Otherwise the fans are excellent..

  • 8u40-b20 Question on the symlink vs x64 and x86.

    Hi,
         I have a win 7 x64 bit os.
         I install 8u40 x86 and x64 on my pc.
If I open up a X64 bit cmd and do a java -version it return the proper info.
    C:\Windows\System32>java -version
    java version "1.8.0_40-ea"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_40-ea-b20)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.40-b23, mixed mode)
If I open a X86 cmd and do the same command, it display the same, usually the red highlighted part  wasn't showed in a x86 cmd prompt on earlier releases of java.
the symlink shortcuts point to the X64 bit version of java, even if both x86 and x64 are installed, doesn't matter the install order, seem the x64 version wins on the symlink shortcuts.
before when you did that with another java version, like 7u55, if would run the java exe for that bitness version as they were found under the system32 or SysWOW64 folder.
for the version of the java 8u40, do we still  need to have both bitness version install on a X64 bit os like in the pass?
We use the java -version command under each CMD bitness (x86 and X64) to check the java version installed

Well, after some testing, it seems that the while(!ready) {} loop I was doingWas that loop literaly like this:
    while (!ready) {
      // do nothing
}? If so, then you have two problems:
1.) It's very bad form to do busy waiting (that's what it's called). It wastes CPU time and is generally not a good idea
2.) If "ready" is not declared volatile, then the JVM is perfectly free to optimize away all but the first read accesses to "ready". This way it will never notice if the value changes.
while waiting for a UI element to be created will give the UI element CPU time if running as 32bit but if ran as 64bit, everything stalls. This sounds exactly as if "ready" is not volatile and the 32bit JVM optimized slightly different than the 64bit one.
I added a Thread.sleep(0); in the loop and it started working.A nasty hack. Replace it with a "real" fix, if at all possible.

  • HT4623 I updated my iPhone to the new iOs 7 and I cannot log into the cloud????

I updated my iPhone 5 to the new iOS7 and the phone keeps asking me to log into my iCloud account. but when I do, a pop up window asks to Review Terms and I select View Tems vs. the Not Now button and nothing happens. I have turned the phone off and back on and the same thing happens. It asks me to go to Settings and when I do, the iCloud icon is grayed out. I cannot seem to log into the cloud. HELP???

I don't recall where, but if you hunt, you will be able to find an "accept" button.  I think you also need to check a box that says something like "I have read and agree ..."
Yes, it requires a careful search.

  • Is the latest update to the 6th gen nano a software download or does it come with the new watch faces and larger icons out of the box

Apple shows the new 6th gen nano with the new selection of watch faces and lager icons etc as per new update, but stores still have the 6th gen nano with just 3 watch faces and smaller icons etc. Is the newer spec just a software update that i do after purchase or does it come updated out of the box?
    Thx

It should come out of the box with the new 1.2 update, but if it doesn't you can simply connect it to iTunes, download, and install the update from there.

  • Just bought the new mac book and iweb isn't on it but ilife is how can i get iWeb?

I just bought the new macbook and it has garage band, imovie, iphoto but doesnt have iweb. How can i get it now?

iWeb and iDVD are no longer. If you have a DVD with iLife then you can install iWeb from that DVD. There are other applications like iWeb such as RapidWeaver and SandVox. Otherwise, you will need to purchase an iLife boxed set from a third-party vendor such as amazon.com.
