When I click on FireFox in the recommended programs, it extracts data and asks me to re-install FireFox every time. This is for both the desktop shortcut and the toolbar shortcut.

This is a registry problem with your .exe entry

You can download an exe file from there that automatically sorts the issue or you can edit the registry manually.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

Since updating firefox to 5.0 my computer is having numerous problems and i'm asked what program i want to use to open firefox when i click on the desktop icon. What's the problem?

Trying to download a FIrefox and when I click on run it asks what program I want to use to open with so I cant finish install

I've been using FF for years and lately have been having issues with internet access. Worked through the troubleshooting suggestions and got it working, but last night FF couldn't connect to internet after something updated and my Norton anti virus was gone too and I couldn't fix it. The last resort was to delete my ff and download new, so I did. When I clicked on run I got a pop up asking what program I wanted to open it with and of course nothing worked. By then it was 1:30 am so I quit. Today I'm having the same issue and I'm at the end of my rope trying to figure out what to do. I'm so disgusted and can't stand it.

IMessage not working on iPad 1, says sign in, I click that and then it says what email do you want to use. When I try to change it, or click next, or even wait a few seconds it goes back to the sign in screen.

I don't have any more details than the fact that I cannot replace my malfunctioning browser with firefox 4. I think the old one was upgrading and then I told it not now and messed it up.

Hi all,
I now want to read controls from any running subvi('s) and save the data into a single file. I'm using subpanel to display the running subvi and use control reference to collect all the string-typed control and save the data to a single file. While that's cheating and ugly, because the host vi usually doesn't know what controls will be there in the subvi('s).
I'm wondering if there is a way to dynamically read controls from any running subvi and display all the avalible controls depends on what subvi is running, and let the user decide which data are to be saved. I attached the vi I have now, please give any comment and I thank you very much in advanced.

with the VI reference you can get references of all controls on the VI's frontpanel. With that reference array you can collect all string controls in that subVI. The you should display a list to the user with the names/contents of those string controls so she/he may select which ones to save...

Future intention to repackage Cloud so you can choose the programmes you want?

Although I love the idea of Creative Cloud, I'm never going to use any more than 7 of the programmes. I know this is an issue with other people I've spoken to. Surely it would be a good idea to have different packages for different types of users? People can then buy the programmes they know they'll use, rather than pay for something and only use 30-50% of it. Your FAQs suggest that you're doing this to give customers flexibility and the option to use these other programmes, whilst realistically I won't have time to use and above all learn all of these fabulous things.
It's also great that you're doing a cheaper offer to valid customers for one year. However, my concern is that once that year is up, the price will rocket and then you have customers trapped. I'm not sure I'm happy about joining Creative Cloud on this basis, particularly as the cost in the UK is so much more than in the US. Do you have a get out clause? If so, could you highlight it as couldn't find it? Thank you. Would be interested to hear yours and others thoughts and plans.

There's no plan to repackage the Cloud that I'm aware of although something similar has been requested by others users

Is it possible to choose the program that opens files I've downloaded?

I just got a mac and therefore started using safari so I'm definitely not accustomed to it yet...when I download word documents from my profs at school, and I click on them after they've downloaded to open them, it opens with TextEdit. I don't like TextEdit and want to know if I can change that so when I click to open them, they open with Pages. TextEdit doesn't always show the exact same content as Pages, as I just found out today when I printed out some homework but was missing half a page since TextEdit didn't show it. Thanks!

Yes, you can specify the program used to open files you download, as long as it's capable of doing it. In the case of using Pages for Word documents, Pages has to convert the document first, and that won't always give you all the formatting that was in the original Word file. All you have to do is select the file, press Command-I to Get Info, then click on the disclosure triangle next to the "Open with:" section and choose the program you want to use to open it. You also have the option to make that change apply to all such documents, including those on your Mac already.
Then close the Get Info panel and you're done.

How do I choose the airport I want to connect to?

I have an airport extreme and an airport express. Both are configured and were working great til a week ago, my wifi status shows less strength and internet is slow. I opened airport utility and it shows that I am connected to airport extreme in basement. I want to connect to airport express on second floor, but I can not see how to choose the airport I want to use.

Shut off the wireless and restart.. nothing is perfect.. Apple stuff roams very well, but it is never perfect.. turn of wireless and stand next to the express and turn it on again.. it should connect now to the express.
BTW the signal might be stronger at the express but the speed will be halved if you use wireless extend.. it is double hop wireless.. whereas slower speed to the extreme will transfer faster as it is single hop.
This doesn't apply to ethernet connected WAP.. but does for wireless repeater setup.

Is your Time Capsule being used for your TimeMachine back up? Or is it simply being used as an external hard drive?

Try to restart your Mac. If the library is really in use by another application, that can clear it.
Tell us more about your system. Which version of iPhoto are you using? Which version of MacOS X?
Where are you storing your iPhoto Library?
What happened before this problem first started? Did iPhoto crash? Did you move the iPhoto Library somewhere else?
Try Terence Devlin's fix here: Re: IPHOTO LOCKED
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a file called ‘iPhoto’Lock.data or similar. Drag it to the Desktop. Make no other changes. Start iPhoto. Does that help?
