When did Google begin dictating what websites I will be allowed to visit using firefox?

When I get things like this spit at me, I have to question just who the hell is running and building Firefox, Mozilla or Google? I DO NOT appreciate being told I cant visit The Hacker News website for any reason whatsoever. There is no excuse for this censoring. And for you other morons that think there is something wrong with my computer, go to hell, there isnt, Firefix works just fine anywhere and everywhere else.
Looking into about:config there is too much control given to google, this means that Mozilla is also selling your personal information bypassing any privacy plugin you have to do so. Which means that Mozilla has been lying to everyone about its policies.

Respected Skibo12
i noticed the same problem from my cousin who had trouble visiting
SERIALSWS.ORG while i was visiting the same site without trouble
you are using antivirus program like kaspersky which have their add-ons installed on your pc's which don't allow you to visit some sites because they are either hackers site or some top secret site...
you either change your antivirus .. on one side that google sometimes does that work so dont search or go to that site from google but directly type the web address on the address bar
you disable the tools from add-ones option disable many tools enable what you need
Skibo12 you plz uninstall some tools like avg and other tools which you don't know their function and if the problem persists then sync your browser with your email then
uninstall firefox then reinstall it
then again sync your browser and you won't loose your data
Trust me Firefox is the best browser i've user after using
chrome, IE ,safari and fast web browser i saw the diffrence
you will know the diffrence

  • How do I view what websites/messangers a phone on my acct uses?

I have tried everything but wanted to ask since I can't find a solution.  I have 3 phones on my account.  I was wondering if there is a way to view what websites a phones has used/went to, or if that phone is using yahoo messanger or another form of messanger without actually using the phone to find out?  Is that something you can see from the "my verizon" info on our accounts?  I know I can see numbers called and/or text info, and simply "data usage", but didn't know if there is a way to see the stuff mentioned above.
Thank you guys in advance for any help you may offer or have.

No way to do this without checking the phone itself.  Then again, I wouldn't be too happy about Verizon keeping track of what I was doing on my phone.

  • Website mp3 not playing WinXP 64-bit using Firefox but plays using IE

I have a website with embedded mp3 soundtracks that work fine when using IE but not with Firefox (latest version.11Beta). Have tried all the suggested plug-ins to no avail. Running WinXP 64-bit
2003 SP2. Video & soundtrack works fine on other websites such as u-tube.

That's because Firefox doesn't support playing mp3 files. It will play them if they are contained in a Flash audio or video player (like youtube) but not by themselves. If you are using the <audio> html element you can define multiple source files. Here are some instructions from our developer website - https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Using_HTML5_audio_and_video You can create an Ogg audio file that will work with Firefox by using a program like Audacity - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

  • Why does my apply laptop shut off Safari when I try  to watch videos online? Also why can't I use Firefox with this(I used to)

Why does ma older apple laptop cancel Safari when I a m watching videos online?  Also,I used to be able to run Firefox but now message states "can't use with this operating system"?

You can't use Firefox, because your operating system, OS X, is a version 10.4 or earlier.
Firefox "upgraded" its Mac compatible version, so that it will only operate with OS 10.6 or later.
Your Safari also might quit, because it too has an upgraded version with greater stability geared toward 10.4 and later.  Perhaps you are using system 10.3 or earlier.
It is also possible that Safari quits, because the video sites you watch have changed to be compatible with newer browser versions with later Flash Player compatibility, like Adobe.
It is difficult to find browser compatibility or stability for earlier than 10.4.
What the above post is showing is in the drop down menu in the upper left of your screen.  Click on the blue Apple for its drop down menu. Click on the first in the list, About This Mac. That's where you'll see the version as shown in the previous post.
If you upgraded your Safari, even that could be a problem, because it might not work as well with your older operating system.  I haven't tried the following link, but it offers the Safari versions that fit each system. You can try downloading the one that matches yours.  If that doesn't work, you can always upgrade again.

  • When I pull up my Pinterest website, it will not display pictures, only some words. It's like the links are broken.

When I pull up Pinterest, the pictures on my boards will not show up. It just has some words. It said it may be because my browser was not updated. I was using Internet Explorer and I tried updating to Windows Microsoft 8. That did not solve the problem. I then installed Firefox as my browser but the pictures still do not come up. It did not give me that error message though that my browser was out of date. What do I need to do to make Pinterest work correctly and show images and video clips that are on my boards and on the site in general?

I had this problem. I solved it by disabling the Avast Online Security Extension 9.0.2006.53 updated Dec. 11, 2013.

  • Security question: When installing a Plugin from a website why will you not allow me to research it to see if it is a virus?

I don't like to install Plugins without doing some research on them first. http://news.sky.com/home/sky-live-tv wants to install a plugin. Have they been hacked? How do I know what I am installing? Facebook wants to install a plugin after their latest update, will it crash Firefox. Give me some insight on plugin/status bar that Asks "Install Missing Plugin" with some information about the creator and the name of the plugin.

    That's a good idea.
Incidentally, that page uses the Windows Media Player plugin, at least when I visit it.

  • Recently no matter what I do, Firefox will not allow me to use Adobe Reader instead of it's own

I used to be able to display pdf documents using Adobe Reader instead of Firefox's built in. I have tried everything that you suggest and that Adobe suggest. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader (11.0.09). I have gone to the options in Mozilla but when I try to change the Portable Document settings, I don't get the option for "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)". I do get the for Adobe Forms, but not for PDF documents. If I change it to use Adobe Reader, it downloads and then opens reader which is not I want. I want to use the plugin which is installed (I go to Add-ons and it is installed and "always activate").
Help? This only started happening in the last month or so. I am running latest released Firefox (33.0.2), Windows 7 (up to date with all updates, etc.).

That doesn't solve the problem. I have all those defaults. But in Firefox, it won't let me select for "Portable Document Format" to "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)" which it used to let me and which is what the Mozilla Firefox help stuff says to do. I can select Adobe Reader but then it downloads it and opens it in a separate reader window rather than using the plugin. If I select to let Firefox "Preview in Firefox", then the Firefox built-in PDF reader will display it. I have added an add-on "pdfViewerSwitcher" which then lets me display in the Adobe Reader plug-in but only after first displaying it in the Firefox preview. So that verifies that the Adobe Reader plug-in works. But I can't set it to always use the Adobe Reader plug-in.
I have some reasons for wanting to use the Adobe Reader plug-in. I use Nuance Power PDF Pro for editing and doing other things with pdfs.
This all used to work and stopped working at some point in the last couple months. And if you search the web, you will find I am not the only one with this complaint.
I don't know whether it is Adobe's fault or Mozilla's fault but at least one of them is broken. And I think it is Firefox since it won't even let me select it but does let me select it for Adobe Forms.

  • Is Firefox going to support Windows XP after it's retired. Because apparently Google Chrome is saying it will. I'm happy using Firefox and was curious. Thanks!

Wanted to know if Firefox will support Windows XP after it's retired.
Read on the internet that apparently Google Chrome will support it.
I don't like Google Chrome and will continue with Firefox but was hoping they will support Windows XP.
If not, what type of problems would I expect to have?
I was told that as long as I have a good virus program it would be okay.
I have Avast which has worked fine for me.
I do not do anything personal on my computer to worry about if someone would try to hack it.
Only thing I really do alot of is go onto my writing groups in Yahoo. But it would be nice not to worry about Malware, etc. threats like that and having to run my scans everyday.
I'm not at a point where I can purchase a new computer or afford to go to Windows 7 which is still being updated.
Heard Windows 8 is a nightmare and apparently a new version which is more user friendly Windows 9 won't be out til later this year or early next year.
    Thanks!

yes, continuing support in this case means that you will get all feature and security updates to firefox as you're used to and in case there are bugs in firefox just for your operating system they should be fixed too (though i suppose the priority assigned to xp specific bugs will be turned down over time).

  • Google email keeps telling me my browser is not capable of allowing all the features to work - will only allow me to use the basic html version. Yet I am using 9.01.

Google are also suggesting that I 'upgrade' to Google Chrome.

You have a user agent that is corrupted and that identifies you as Firefox/3.0.1

  • When I change anything in Develope module LR5 will not allow me to open a .NEF file in PS6

I am using LR5, ACR 8.2 Beta and PS6 on a MAC.  If I open a .NEF file in Develop Module and make any changes I cannot get LR to allow me to choose 'Edit in PS6". The option lights up but nothing happens when I click on it.
If I Choose a .NEF file that has just been imported and no changes have been made, LR will allow me to open it in PS6.  Also .jpg and .psd files will open fine in PS6 from LR5.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Do you happen to be using a new camera? If the camera you are using in in the latest camera raw that is available in LR5 but is not in the version of camera raw that PS6 uses, that's the behavior I've seen where Photoshop basically doesn't do anything. Remember that Adobe doesn't go back and update camera raw in the old versions of PS. I've got a post coming out on Tuesday that covers my experiences using LR4/LR5 and PS CS4. But the way that I get around the incompatibility is to have LR render the file and send it over the PS instead of having PS try to open my NEF.
I think typically what should happen if you open a NEF, make changes to it, and try to send it over to PS is that you should be prompted by Lightroom to see if you want to send over the NEF or a rendered version of the image with the Lightroom changes. Do you see that dialog at all?
