when disabling cdp on a interface, it still sends out updates during bootup.
but if we disable cdp on the whole switch, it does not send out any updates during bootup. Is this correct or is it a bug? I haven't found anything documented on this.

What device are we talking about? Router or switch?
A switch with 802.1af capabilities uses CDP to discover devices that require inline power.

Does the username and password you try to use have administrator privileges? You must input an admin username and password to install.

Whether or not you can, it could potentially also wake up the screen of the computer, which would not be good for it, as heat from the screen can overheat it.

11.0.0.4 Update still promting for update at clock even when disabled via GPO customization wizard

I have custiomized the Adobe Reader 11.0.0.4 msi to disable any updating feature available . This is the same as the previous versions which have worked faultlessly. This time when i have deployed 11.0.0.4 it does install on the windows machine but still prompts beside the clock with an icon and message saying would you like to install the update? if i click it it then fails as its already installed. i do not want any user to see this message especaily when that version is already running on the machine! Please see below for further informaiton, Appriciate any help resolving this issue.

I had the same problem! I don't know what caused it, possibly slow Internet but I suppose my antivirus or other software could have affected it. Maybe it's an iTunes problem.
After restarting the download at least 5 times in iTunes after it timed out, I found this website. I didn't know this before, but you can download the update in your browser and then apply it to your iPhone in iTunes once it finishes. I used Firefox 4 and it downloaded without timing out once. All you have to do is hold down Shift and then click on Update in iTunes and it will prompt you to select the update that you downloaded and it will apply it.
Try this and let me know how it works!

We're considering disabling the HP Universal Print Driver Language Monitor and in-turn Bi-directional Printing due to potential server spooler instabilities, before we do this the IT Manager wants to be sure:
1. What functionality is lost when disabling Language Monitors and Bi-directional Printing?
2. What else uses Language Monitors and Bi-directional Printing them? In other words what may break?
3. What specifically do Language Monitors and Bi-directional Printing provide?

Can I confirm this is the procedure for disabling a particular print queue's Language Monitor and Bidirectional Printing? -
1. Locate the relevant Language Monitor registry key in: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors
Either delete or rename the registry key (so it cannot be found), in my case: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors\HPMLM121
I renamed it to have the date at the end (HPMLM121_2015-01-29).
2. Inside the above registry key is a DLL file mentioned under the DRIVER reference. In my case it's called: hpmlm121.dll.
I searched the entire C drive on the server and this was only found in C:\Windows\System32. I moved this elsewhere out of C:\Windows and also renamed the DLL too.
Therefore preventing Windows from being able to find/use it.
3. I then unticked Bidirectional Printing Support in the Printer Properties Ports tab of the printer in question.
4. Lastly either restart the server (or stop/restart the Spooler service).
I've done all this and the HP Print Notifications for Replace Cartridge etc... are still active.
Any idea why this is?

Ipda mini unable to restore when disabled due to find my iPad.

My daughter has forgotten her password and disabled her mini ipad (iOS 7). I have attempted to restore but get the message that "find my iphone needs to be turned off to restore" on attempting (can't when disabled). I've gone to my iCloud account and removed the device. Still has same error message whn I atempt to restore again in itunes.
Has anyone else had this issue and how do i fix it? Have turned all devices on and off.

Listview not grey when disabled.

Hi, this is the issue:
When I have a messagebox opened I disable the other windows, but I don't want them greyed out.
I managed to change the model for all controls in order to do that, but I couldn't to it with the list view (though I managed to to it with the listview items).
As you can see in the picture the items are of the right color when disabled, but the background is stille grey.
When I rightclicked the listview to change the model, it automatically created this XAML code inside " <Window.Resources>", which I though I would edit like I did with all other controls:

A Listview is a pretty simple control template wise.
It's the listview items which are complicated.
I would be tempted just to replace the entire template.
Something like:

I'm not sure about this disabling things but not changing colour though.
It's usual windows behaviour to change colour when disabled.

Under Tasks, New Task, Assign Task there is a check box next to "Send me a status report when this task is complete" that I want to remove.

Sorry, based on my knowledge and test, there is no corresponding policy ID to disable this checkbox.
In addition, I searched around and found that this setting should correspond to the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\options\Tasks
AddToUpdList

Silent Install Adds IE Plugin even when disabled

I'm trying to do a silent install of the JRE 1.4.0 & even when I disable the IE plugin option, it still gets installed when running from the script. Here's my .iss file:

the "SdAskOptions" section with a component count of 0 should skip the IE plugin option, but it's not.
The interesting thing is that when I did the manual install to generate this script, the plugin was not installed...it behaves differently when I run the install from the generated script!
Does anyone know what's wrong here?

I had the same problems with the silent installation of JRE 1.4.0_01 on Windows XP. The only chance to correct the unwanted Plug-In activation in IE is to modify the registry.
With the following commands you can patch the registry after the silent install:
REG DELETE "HKLM\Software\JavaSoft\Java Plug-in\1.4.0_01" /v UseJava2IExplorer /f
REG DELETE "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AdvancedOptions\JAVA_SUN" /f
REG DELETE "HKLM\Software\Classes\CLSID\{08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501}\TreatAs" /f
But be aware of the fact, that any change in the registry is a kind of operation on the open heart.
