When does apple integrate the new Core 2 Duo Processors into the MacBooks?!

Does anyone know if apple decided to integrate the new Core 2 Duo processors from Intel into the Macbooks, yet?
When does it happen?!?!?
Thx
backbeat

In order to keep up with the core 2 duo processor enabled laptops, apple must sooner or later have the new processors in either the MB lineup or the MBP's...however, if you want to fully take advantage of the new core 2 duo processors, might as well wait 'til next spring..when they come out with the new logic boards for the core 2 duo's...the current core 2 duo's share the same pin lay-out with the core duo's, so they can be used in the same logic boards,....(the people who buy the MB's with the core 2 duo processors are gonna regret buying it if they buy it before spring....cuz of this..)
wait 'til next spring so you'll be fully happy with your MB...or , like me, you can just wait for your order right now and be satisfied with it.....
when you do wait 'til spring, they'll probably have another new technological advancement, so you'll wanna wait for that.....sooner or later....we'll get 3D computer screens!!!!~~~
my point is, you must evaluate what you'll be using your MB for...if the current MB's can fully service you, don't wait...

  • Does the new ipod nano fit into the apple docking station the same as the former ipod nano?

I have an apple docking station and I know that the ipod nano is thinner but other than eprhaps being a little wobbly does it fit into the same socket as the original ipod nano?
    Thanks

You need the lightning-to-30-pin adapter. Get it from an apple store.

  • Can I upgrade the Intel Core Duo processor to an Intel Core Duo 2 processor in my 2005 I-mac 4,1

I have an I-Mac 4,1  from 2005-6 with the IntelCore Duo processor and would like to use Lion. I need Intel Core Duo2  to do so. Can my I-Mac be upgraded with a different processor to run Lion? I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8

Unfortunately, your reply didn't show up until this morning (the delays are becoming more than annoying) ......
Who is talking about a Mac Pro? I thought the OP was inquiring about their iMac's processor? Or are we being facetious (not that you would ever do that now, would you??).

  • How do I get my NYTimes app off the new "Newsstand" and back into the folder I set up for all my news apps?

I finally uploaded the now operating system 5.0 and set up iCloud. It rearranged all my apps on my iPhone, and took my NYTimes app out of the folder I set up for all my news apps and now I can't get it out. Nor can I move my other news apps onto the newsstand. Any ideas?

You can't (at the moment).  Have been playing around with the same problem for about an hour - very irritating!!!
If enough of us complain, (to the NYTimes) they might have it switched back, but I doubt it.  From the marketing point of view I would imagine they want "Newstand" to be THE subscription center, which does make sense.

  • I have an imac with intel core duo processor.  Will I be able to upgrade to the new Lion system that icloud is associated with?

I have an Imac with the Intel Core Duo Processor.  Will I be able to upgrade to the new OSX Lion?

You need a Core 2 Duo or later to use Lion.  You will need to install Snow Leopard in order to access the Mac App Store to download Lion when it becomes available.

  • Does the new iPod touch with iOS5 come with the dual core A5 processor?

If the new iPhone 4s is able to pack a dual core A5 processor into the phone, shouldn't the iPod be able to? I wanna buy a new iPod cause mine crashes a lot but I'm not sure I want another one with just a single core processor...Did Apple announce anything at the keynote about this or something? I didn't watch it through cause it was long so I'm not sure what to expect. Thanks if you can answer it(:

From the information provided by Apple, the only differences between the new iPod Touch and the 4G released last year is the lower price and the addition of a white color.

  • Second hand Core Duo or new Core Duo 2?

Ok, I am really in doubt at this moment. I can buy a second hand Macbook 1.83 Core Duo with 2 Gb mem. for EUR 950 which seems like a good deal to me, but... should it be a better choice to go for the second generation Core Duo processors of the current Mac Books considering the upcoming OS? Or is speed more about internal mem than CPU? Can anyone figure this one out for me?

We really can't answer this one for you - it really comes down to personal preference and what you are planning to use the laptop for. Check out the technical differences between the two and think about whether or not the differences are really important to you. There are three big differences, off the top of my head:
    - Core duo is 32-bit, while Core 2 duo is 64-bit.
    - Core 2 duo ships with an 802.11n capable wireless chipset
    - Battery life seems a bit longer with Core 2 duo, and it tends to run a bit cooler.
There are quite a few more minor differences between the two (and several not-so-minor ones that I'm forgetting about, I'm sure). If your price for the core duo is significantly lower than the newer core 2 duo, and if the differences between them don't really matter to you, then I see no reason not to go with the cheaper laptop.

  • Important flaw found on Core Duo Processors

Some of the users of SpeedIt reported a bug related to the readout of the temperature, we have been tested the digital readout and we discovered that the problem is related to a bug in the microprocessor.
This bug could be affect your MacBook is Speedit temperature readout is below 30ºC, and dont' change. If your temperature vary from 20 up to 80 don't worry you are not affected by this bug.
The bug is documented by Intel and happend only in some processors and is the following:
AE18 Processor Digital Thermal Sensor (DTS) Readout stops updating upon returning from C3/C4 state. (Source Intel Corp.)
If this is your case, we recomend to go to Apple to verify your computer, because in case of thermal problems the processor will never get protected. You can solve this issue too with the last firmware from Apple, Intel propose a solution via bios or efi.

    MBP - 15.4/2.0GHz Intel CD/2GB RAM/100GB SATA HDD/X1600 256MB/SD   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

The problem is a defect in the Intel Core Duo processors. There is no workaround. I wrote Marcel, the developer, and he referred me to his FAQs.
Q: I have a Mac with an Intel Core Solo or Core Duo processor.
Sometimes, the temperature readings seems to "hang" and are no longer
being refreshed. Is this a problem with the application?
A: No, this problem is caused by an internal design flaw of current
versions of Intel Core processors. The Digital Thermal Sensors may
stop working when the processor returns from a C3/C4 power saving
state. Intel plans to correct this hardware bug for future steppings
    of the CPU.

  • Core i7 processors in the Ultra 24?

Does anyone know if Sun plans on coming out with something like an Ultra 24 M2 soon that would have these processors? They have been out for a while now so it would be nice to see these processors in a Sun workstation. Sadly, it seems they abandoned their AMD-line of workstations so we won't be able to get the new "Shanghai" processors on the Ultra 20 M2 so right now we are just limited to using Core 2 Duo/Quad processors. Am I the only one that feels that Sun has put their desktops to the wayside?

I agree that it appears that Sun has ditched its workstations. Mac just announced their new MacPro which uses two of the new core i7 processors. It is limited to 32 GB of RAM rather than 64 and it holds only 4 internal drives standard. Until this came out I was considering a Sun server with Sun Ray, but the workstation set-up would be easier. Would be nice if Sun would put together a real offering in their workstation line-up soon.

  • Core duo processor upgrade

Does anybody know if it is feasible to replace the 1.66GHz Intel core duo processor on the new Mac Mini with the 1.83GHz, 2.00GHz or 2.16GHz version?

I've managed to successfully upgrade my 1.66GHz Core Duo Mac mini to a 2GHz model, and so far it's been running fine. However, I don't recommend trying it unless you're prepared for the fact that you could be throwing the money for said Mac mini away.
The heatsink is held on by these horrid little clips, and right around a couple of the mounting holes is all kind of logic that you really don't want to go scratching up. It is VERY easy to damage this thing from the slightest slipup, and then you have to worry about things like putting in the correct amount of thermal paste, etc, etc. There's a very high possibility of damaging the system.
There's also the long term effects you have to consider. I'd wait a couple of months and watch crazy guys like me who rushed into it headfirst, and see what we have to say on the matter.
So.. technically possible? Yes. Feasible? Not sure. Risky? Extremely.

Steven ~ Welcome to the Support Communities. The following may be useful for next time...
AppleCare+ for iPad extends your coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your iPad and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a $49 service fee. Note: AppleCare+ must be purchased within 30 days of the date you bought your new iPad.

i want to go buy a new laptop and the one I have in mind has the new intel core duo T2300 or the T2400 processor. Can i still download itunes onto this computer? Does it meet the requirments becuase the download page says you need a pentium or BETTER? The new macs are putting them in their computers, but will the windows and intel duo be able to support the itunes application?

are you asking if it is compatible meaning will it
install/run or are you asking if flash is
optimized to take advantage of this particular setup?

  • Is the new Core 2 Duo processor 64 bit?

Is the Core 2 Duo processor in the new MacBooks 64 bit?

Yes, but most software doesn't have the capability to use it's advantages - YET. When Leopard comes out, it will fully support the 64bit processor. Still - it will be some time before 64-bit apps come it, IF they do. Buying the C2D now simply buys more into the future of computing.

  • I have set up a second iTunes user account on my PC, but when I create the new iTunes account it copies the music, videos etc from the original account and they seem to be linked.  What am I doing wrong?

I have set up a second iTunes user account on my PC, but when I create the new iTunes account it copies the music, videos etc from the original account and they seem to be linked, so that when I delete a song from one library it deletes from the other one.
On the online tutorials I've seen it shows that when you create a new iTunes library it should open as a blank account, but that isn't happening.
    What am I doing wrong?

If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
    If necessary:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    or
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
