When downloading Reader 8.0 a message SGC15.exe

When I download Reader 8.0 there is a message from McAfee that there is a trojan horse SGC15.exe with is blocked by McAfee.
Why ????? this message from the Adobe site.

It may be a false report, this happens all the time with anti-virus.
So long as people report this sort of thing to the anti-virus maker it
is usually sorted out quickly. Start by updating the Mcafee stuff.
This was seen at least six months ago, so it should be sorted by now.
If that doesn't help, double check that you are on the real Adobe
site, not an imposter trying to deliver bad software (this can
happen). Go to http://www.adobe.com/acrobat/readstep.html to download.
If that still doesn't help either
(a) contact McAfee for help or
(b) temporarily switch it off to get Reader loaded.

  • What is the second exe file when downloading Reader 11.0.3 and what is it used for?

I downloaded Reader 11.0.3 for Windows 8 yesterday and in doing so it tried to download a 2nd exe file. When I googled the name of the 2nd exe some sites said it is a virus (so I cancelled the download of the 2nd exe).  Is it a virus or what is it?  I don't have the file name with me but will post it later when I have the file name.

Thanks for the info, but before selecting "download now" I unchecked the "Yes, install Chrome as my default browser and Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer - optional" box so if that is what it is, then it should not have tried to download.  It prompted for a run or save on the first download, I installed the first download and after it completed, then a run or save prompt came up for Install_reader11_en_gtbd_chrd_dn_aaa_aih.exe.  Since I didn't choose to install anything else and I didn't know what it was, I ggogled it and a number of sites had hits for it, including the forums here where others were complaining that they couldn't install or uninstall reader with that exe running in background.  Other links said it was a trojan horse, loaded viruses, etc. so I didn't save or run it.  The first of the two exe downloads installed reader and it seems to work fine though.

  • Every time I try to download reader, I get a message saying 'Internal Error'.

Any ideas how to fix it?

    Hi Shutterbug 762,
You might want to try downloading Reader 11 from : https://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Also try from a different browser and check.
BTW is  the error similar to that mentioned in the KB : http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/error-internal-error-2753-install.html
Do you have any previous versions of Adobe Reader installed?
Usually newer version of Reader removes the older version of Reader during installation.
You might want to run the Cleaner tool ( http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html )to try remove the existing installation and then try downloading it.
Further you might also want to check the install a new Admin account as 'internal errors' are ususally caused due to insuffcient user permissions.

  • Mail Crashing when downloading or clicking on a message w/an attachment

    Hi
My Mail has developed a problem where it crashes on the 10th message it is downloading. It also crashes when I click on a message in my inbox (or other mailbox) that has an attachment.
First I thought I had a corrupt attachment somewhere, so I went into my webmail to route out the 10th message. That didn't work. i thought maybe my mailboxes were too full. Cleaned them all out. Still not working. Deleted preferences. Verified & repaired Disk & Disk Permissions. Rebuilt the mailboxes. Took all of my messages (mbox files) out of Mail and opened Mail and still couldn't download past the 10th message. I have deleted the first 10 messages waiting to be downloaded (it doesn't seem to matter what message is #10).
The only thing I can think to do next is to reinstall OSX from the disk, but I really don't want to do that. Or start using another mail program! Any other advice please?
    Thank you!

Oh geez. Well that's a bit embarassing! Thanks for clearing that up for me.
I ran the Disk Utility "Verify Disk" option and got the following:
    Verifying volume “Macintosh HD”
    Checking HFS Plus volume.
    Checking Extents Overflow file.
    Checking Catalog file.
    Illegal name
    Illegal name
    Checking multi-linked files.

    Checking Extended Attributes file.
    Checking volume bitmap.
    Checking volume information.
    Volume Header needs minor repair
olume %@ needs to be repaired.",1)
    Macintosh HD
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
    1 HFS volume checked
    Volume needs repair
Should I just click "repair disk permissions" now?
Thank you so much for trying to help me solve this. I'm seriously having a BAD week and am glad there's people out there who try to help with things like this.

  • When downloading iTunes, I got a message about error writing to file and it told the file. Then it said to verify that you have access to that directory. I have no idea how to fix it. I could really use some help, please.

I was trying to download iTunes on my computer, and while doing so, I got this message: Error writing to file: C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Apple/Apple Application Support/Apple Versions.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory. I have downloaded iTunes numerous times and I have never had this problem. If anyone knows what's going on, I would really appreciate the help.

Well, there's definitely a mac and a Windows version. And you're at the right page. I think the problem is that someone forgot (or decided not to) to update the text at teh bottom of the page to have Mac and Windows.
Just push the button, you'll get the Mac update no problem.

  • IE crashes when downloading Reader 9

I have Windows XP SP3 which runs great. I have been using Reader 7 with no problems and wanted to update to Reader 9. I uninstalled 7 and tried to download 9. IE crashhed in the middle.

Is that permanent, i.e. if you retry? If so, try downloading it from http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.0/enu/AdbeRdr90_en_US.exe

You don't need Adobe AIR to download or install Adobe Reader.
Try downloading the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

    g -
I was able to fix the problem with some help from Apple. Whenever I last downloaded Reader, I apparently didn’t complete the process by accepting the Reader contract. I was able to go right to that point in the process and complete the installation. The messages that I needed Reader but it was already installed were quite confusing. It would have been nice if the Adobe installation process that I was re-trying this morning had been able to detect a partial installation. The Troubleshooting page almost had me doing some ridiculous things that wouldn’t have helped.
