When Entity Bean activation count will be released?

Hi, I had a question in my production site.
One enity bean - LoanEntity's activation count is increased and increased, never
be released during the application startup.(can be seen in the weblogic monitoring
console). and the cache hit count=0 for the whole time.
but the other entity beans, implemented in the same way( such as equals() mehtod,
and hashCode()), cache hit count increased, and activation count is not increased
so much.
I'm wondering to know, when the activation bean will be released, after the transaction
end? but why the loanenity is never released-the transaction time is set to 600seconds
for some reason, but not for the whole time.
the system is run on weblogic6.1sp4.windows2000professional

If it will take about a year to release JDK 6 Update 10, this looks like a long delay.I don't think it will take another year, I'd guess a few more months ...
As I know there is internal "fcs" build of JDK 6 Update 7. Why not to release it?
It would be great to have JDK road map somewhere on web, at least for internal use.Why is it so important when the next update release is done? They don't add any new functionality.
And unless you wait for a specific bug fix to be released, they are pretty uninteresting releases.
The release date of Java 7 might be more interesting, 'though.

  • When Oracle VM 3.1 will be released....

    hi,
Evaluted Oracle VM 3.0.1,3.02,3.0.3 on lab environment. But i had encountered losts of error's.Most of the time it requires VM Server to be Rebooted and if i am stuck during removing Objects (Pool, VM Server, etc ) from OVM Manager then there is only option left you have to reset the DB or reinstall the manager.
So this cannot be Implemented in Production Environment but the product has good features.
Now i am waiting for Oracle VM 3.1 release. Can anybody tell me when it will be released...
    Thanks & Regards,
    Raj

    HI,
Oracle will not pre-announce the releases of OVM, You just have to wait until they are released, and then check the release notes to see what bugs / issues were resolved.
We've made the (bad) decision to migrate production servers from OVM 2.2 to OVM 3.0.3 in the hope of more stability, but we have encountered yet more bugs and issues, esp. around the manager. In fact we're currently waiting for customer down-time to reboot an entire pool of OVM 3 servers because of OCFS lock issues.
    not very impressed.

I also use screenflow.  And, as a general rule Adobe employee, Todd Kopriva recommends that people use Adobe Media Encoder for H.264 encoding or anything else going to  the Web or mobile devices.  Check this post by Andrew Yoole:

As the other guys have said, don't use AE to render using temporal codecs.  Temporal codecs like H264 rely on storing partial frames based on earlier information.  AE renders and encodes one frame at a time, so most of the efficiency of a codec like H264 is lost.  The result is that you get much lower overall quality from an AE h.264 render than if you were to encode it externally.
Adobe Media Encoder or Quicktime 7 will encode great quality H.264 files.
Also, AME has a lot of convenient features like encoding presets for common web services and devices.

  • When Oracle BI Discoverer 10g will be released on AIX?

    Hi
    If anyone knows ?
I need it to prepare project plan.
    thnx
    slawonzo

    Hi Asim,
The instructions for integrating Discoverer with IDM/Portal are in the Discoverer doc listed above. Most people shutdown the Discoverer 4i server, upgrade the EUL to 10g, then install the 10g Discoverer software and configure the apps to use it. Details are all in the doc.
    1. Install Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2)
1.1. Install OracleAS Identity Management Infrastructure 10g (10.1.4.0.1)
You must install OracleAS Identity Management Infrastructure 10g (10.1.4.0.1) on a standalone server or in a separate ORACLE_HOME on an existing application tier server node. Follow the instructions in the Oracle Application Server 10g Installation Guide for your operating system platform.
1.2. Install Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2) type Business Intelligence and Forms
You must install Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2) installation type Business Intelligence and Forms in a seperate ORACLE_HOME from the previously installed OracleAS Infrastructure. During installation of Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2) type Business Intelligence and Forms you will be prompted for Oracle Internet Directory details. Please provide your Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.4.0.1) Infrastructure hostname and port number as configured in step 1.1.

  • Entity Beans Cache

    Hi,
We are running our application on WL platform 7.0. We have a number of EntityBeans(about
30-40) which are container managed and also use CMR.
The max-beans-in-cache is at its default of 1000. We reach this limit of 1000
for about 10-15 of these beans in a day or two after a restart of the server.
(This is production server, we restart this occasionally for maintenance). The
memory usage for the server keeps increasing and once the entity cache limit is
reached we see that passivation keeps occurring and the heap usage is always at
about 80%-95% of the maximum (Total heap size is 1.5GB). We assume this could
be due to the EntityBeans that are cached by WebLogic. We also see performance
problems occassionally that might be probably due to the GC or passivation.
We want to lower our memory usage and also get rid of the occassional slow response
time. For doing this, is there any way to flush out those Beans from EntityCache
which are no more used ? WebLogic doesn't seem to flush the cache but only passivate
them as and when new beans are required. Is there any setting to change this behaviour
    Cheers
    Raja V.

    Thanks Thorick,
We are using Database concurrency and non-read only beans, hence i believe this
    patch must help us.
secondly, are you aware of any way to find out the memory usage of the default
    WLS Entity Bean Cache ?
    Cheers
    Raja

    Hi,
If you are using 'Database' concurrency, then support for an idle-timeout-seconds
on this cache will be coming in release 7.0sp5. This feature is intended
    to ease
heap usage when Entity Beans using Database/Optimistic/ReadOnly (but
    NOT Exclusive
or read-only !). One sets the max-beans-in-cache to be large enough
    to handle
    periodic
or occasional peak loads and idle-timeout-seconds is set to free the
    cache of
    unused beans
    during periods of low demand.
If you cannot wait for sp5 and are willing to run a patch, there are
    patches available
    for
7.0sp2 and 7.0sp3. You'll have to contact your support representative
    about
    these.

    Hope this helps

  • Session vs Entity Bean in Business Layer???

    Hi,
I am developing a Hotel Management System project, I am planning to use the following softwares for it:-
    Presentation - JSP
    Web controller - Action class(Struts)
Business Layer - Session Facade( Stateless Session Bean)
    DAO - Hibernate
    DB - Oracle 9i
    Model - ValueObject
This is what i have decided to use to build the flow of the application.
I have an idea about JSP,STRUTS,HIBERNATE & ORACLE. Since i have used it before.
But in the case of business layer, i have doubt (since i am going to use EJB for the first time) whether to use a Session bean or entity bean where i will be writing my own queries(Stored proc.) as well as i will be using the predefined functions of hibernate to store the data .
I also want to know whether i need to go for StatefullSB or Stateless SB if i use a sessionfacade(which i have planned to do)??
When in what situation i need to for this approach???
Please provide an answer for this & pls. do mention my flow is right or
    wrong??
    Excepting ur valuable thoughts..
    Thanks,
    JavaCrazyLover

    Hi
I also want to know whether i need to go for StatefullSB or Stateless SB if i >use a sessionfacade(which i have planned to do)??
When in what situation i need to for this approach???That depends on how your application will be used.
Stateless and Statefull session bean are different.
If you want to keep informations such as shopping cart, you can use Statefull.
If you plan to have a huge number of request at time, Stateless can be faster.
You can also keep your information such as shopping cart in the session scope of your web jsp tier. (if you use only web client.)
In your case, i would choice, Stateless.
Anybody, correct me if i'm wrong.
    Tks.

  • Urgent!Poor performance in Entity beans

we're using Weblogic 5.1, Oracle 8i.(both installed in Solaris 5.8) We
found that the performance of our entity beans is poor, the reason we
guess is because when we issue a select statement, the jdbc, at the same
time, issue a update statement, that's why the response time is slow.
(By the way,we use oracle thin driver to connect.)
I know we can set autocommit to false but our beans are cmp,so we can't
set properties in connection pool. What can we do then? Can we set any
transaction attributes in our ejb,so we can solve our problem?
    Thx!
    Pete

A few issues with the linked article:
" 1. Where ever possible, using Entity bean with CMP over Entity bean with BMP, will ensure increase in performance... Tuned CMP entity beans offer better performance than BMP entity beans."
Bull. Every time I have seen some statement like the above it has never contained any associated proof nor explaination of how a container vendor's code can interact with a DB any better than mine.
The only means by which a container vendor can generically improve the performance of DB interactivity is to not do it, namely by caching the data and monitoring modification. This is rarely used due to mitigating factors such as any case where the container does not have sole access and omniscience over the DB.
"Moving towards the CMP based approach provides database independence since it does not contain any database storage APIs within it."
Ahh yes, lets trade in EJB container independence for database independence. It's interesting that the biggest proponents of CMP (and the ones who pushed it into the spec) are the biggest container vendors. Database storage APIs??? Perhaps JDBC and "select * from USER where..." are somehow viewed as database specific.
