When expanding folder in list view, finder always go to top. How to stop it?

How to make finder not going to top back again whenever expanding a folder in list view? It just like clicking go to top on a website. i have a lot of subfolder, but when i expand it, finder show back the top list folder(zuupp to the top, grrr!!!), it so annoying to scroll back down just to get back where the last folder expand.

18 months later someone finally responds to you. I dislike this behavior very much and cannot find a workaround. The current push by Aple is to make the smaller devices more accessible which is radcially compromising the desktop experience. I asume you have updated to Mavericks by now. The auto-sizing columns remains an issue as well. If this is driving you bonkers too. Use TAG View and the auto resize to file name length returns.

Finder - Browse in List View, Finder - Browse in List View

In Lion there are now a couple of options are available when you right-click on a Finder window and click on Show View Options:
Always open in list view
Browse in list view
Whereas in Snow Leopard there is only one option:
Always open in list view
So my question is, what's the difference between these two new options in Lion? What exactly does "Browse in list view" mean?

The help file is a bit confusing since it says :
To set the current window to always open in list view, select “Always open in list view.” If the window has subfolders, you can also set them to open in list view.
That part where it says that if the window has subfolders, you can also set them to open in List view. That is what Browse means. So, if you have that checked, when you double-click on a folder in that window, it will open the subfolder in the same view unless that folder has an "always open in ____ View" setting.

Still no way to remove stripes from list view finder windows?

Is there really still no way to do get rid of these horrible stripes in list view finder windows? After all the complaints about them? Or has anyone found a way? (Or has apple granted one in one of the last updates?)

Sub-Folder View Icons Missing in List View (Finder)

Since upgrading to Lion, the arrows in Finder for viewing sub folders has disappeared from Finder in list view and cover flow. At first, I just figured it was another nice feature of OS X they decided to kill off, but I was looking at my boyfriend's computer, and his still has the triangle icons, and he's using Lion.
I've tried a few things to try to fix it, but nothing seems to help. Using the Command + right arrow key combination causes some weird glitch folders to appear below the folder I'm trying to view the contents of. The names of those folders is always stuff like "Folders", "Applications", "PDF Documents", among others. Here's a screenshot of my Finder view, and those odd folders:
Does anyone know how to fix these issues? Thank you for any replies. =)

Wow, Woolgatherer was right on on this one! What was bugging me, besides not having the up/down sort arrow buttons in the columns, was I was backwards on the arrangement. In essence, when I had the arrangement in "Kind," the items were from "z to a" instead of "a to z." The arrangement view is nice to look at, because it separates the types of items into groups, but you can not reverse the order quickly.
If you do as Woolgatherer says, and turn off the "Arrange by" to none, and then the folders display the up/down arrows to go in alphabetical order from top to bottom or bottom to top. Once you toggle the header arrow, then you can actually go back to "Arrange by" to "Kind," and it is in the opposite order. What I mean by this, if you sort from the header "a to z" and then go to the Arrange by "Kind," it is now in the order of "z to a." This is very weird.

Expanding Folders in "list" view mode.

How can I expand as well as close folders when viewing them in the "list" view mode, all in one stroke as opposed to having to expand each folder one at a time?

Neither did I until XChip73 asked the question. I decided to see if the Mac OS X programmers had put that functionality into the Finder. A little experimentation found that they had.

Suppressing "No Entry" calendar entry when printing in the list view

How can I go about suppressing the "No Entry" item for a date when printing the whole month in the calendar view? I would prefer to only see printed dates that have an actual entry in them.

In SharePoint 2013, we could manually create a list for all users. Here are the reference:
Go to Site Settings > People and Groups > SiteMembers
Modify url
http://sitename/_layouts/15/people.aspx?MembershipGroupId=8 to
http://sp/sites/tutu/_layouts/15/people.aspx?MembershipGroupId=0 , now you will see All people in this site.
Change the view to List view, and copy the listview id in the url
http://sitename/_layouts/15/people.aspx?MembershipGroupId=0&View={viewID}
Go to Settings > List settings, copy the list id in the url
http://sitename/_layouts/15/listedit.aspx?List=listeid&Source=....
Now type the address in IE:

Missing folder in list view. Mac OSX 10.4.11

I have an external Firewire Hard Drive with 10 folders on it.
One of the folders contains around 100GB of video files.
This folder does not appear in the list view.
All the other folders appear as normal.
In ccon or column view the folder is there.
Is this a known bug?

I've never seen it before. Not sure I have Folders over 100GB though. Will try/look.

I have set "Oslo.Master" as the The default Master Page for the site. I have a page with a List View web part and an InfoPath Web Part connected. When the page loads is it displayed correctly. However, when a record
is selected and the infopath web part is updated, the content on the page shifts (indents) to the right.
Is there something I am missing? Does anyone know how to correct this?

How to open form in another form view when click image in list view?

I have created list view where "Picture" is one of the column. If you click Picture column it will open its item. I achieve using this

Actually that list form has been customized by InfoPath and create two views.
Now, when i click that Picture column in that list view, it should open in another view instead of default view. How to achieve this?

According to your post, my understanding is that you customized the list form, and created two list view.
I had created two list view, named view1 and view2, and customized the list form using the InfoPath.
Then replaced the code onclick=\"openModalDialog('EditForm.aspx?ID="+itemID+"','"+itemTitle+"')\"
with
onclick=\"openModalDialog('view2.aspx?ID="+itemID+"','"+itemTitle+"')\".
Afther that, edit the view1 page, Edit the list web part. Go to Miscellaneous -> JS Link, add the following URL into the JS Link textbox.
~site/Shared Documents/PictureFieldTemplate.js
Now when you click the image, it would open the view2 page.

User Interface bug when renaming tracks in list views

When renaming tracks in the list views, there is a user interface bug that makes it impossible to see what you're doing. When you select a track in the list view, this is what it looks like:
Note how the text is white on the darker blue background. When you click again, to open the inline text editor to rename, this is what you get:
The background color of the text editor is white, just like the text, so when you type, you can't see what you're typing, nor can you see where in the original text your text insertion cursor is located.

I'm frustrated with this same problem. In my case this happens only in my 10.5 macbook air and not in my 10.4 macbook pro. I've been renaming files in the same way in 10.2/10.3 and this never happened. Should be a bug. I've been searching for this issue and found this post at last - I really wonder why there aren't so many people mentioning this.

List View webpart from subsite to Top site shows random error "List Does not exist"

Hi All,
We have a list in subsite and we are creating a view for that list which we are showing in one of the top site home page. We have taken care of changing the web and list guid of list view webpart when we added on top site. Its working fine but some time
shows error "list does not exist" but when we refresh the error goes. Is it known issue or if there is any workaround for this? because we cannot go live with this random error.

List view problem in iTunes 10. How to move Album/Artist description text.

Starting with iTunes 10, in list view the Artist and Album name info was moved from underneath the Album Art in the "Artwork" column to the right of it. like the 1st screenshot below Is there a way to revert to having that info placed underneath the artwork like the 2nd screenshot below?

No, there is no option to change the the layout. FWIW I prefered the older layout too. We don't all have wide screens. You could drop a line to iTunes Feedback if you want.

According to your description, my understanding is that the UI is different between XSLT web part and List View web part.
Per my knowledge, the List View web part is a kind of the XSLT list view web part which uses XSLT to display data on the page.

When i type any letter on web search, earlier address appear. how to stop that?

You can do this by disabling form history.

When I select a folder in column view, finder immediately jumps to that column

is there a way to stop this behavior? When I am browsing in column view and click on a folder to see what's in it, finder immediately jumps to that column, shifting the parent column to the left. If I click and drag a file to a parent column, finder jumps to that column, puts the file in alphabetical order, and jumps to where the file is in that column list. This may be nowhere near the folder that it came from. If I am in a column with a lot of files/folders, I then can't see the folder where I took it from. The benefit of column view is being able to see all these levels at once - the jumping around takes that away and is visually very distracting. I often want to reorganize files within certain folders and this makes it difficult and is very annoying. It sometimes takes a while to retrace my steps and figure out where it came from. I think it's more of an issue on small displays - I have an 11" Macbook Air mid 2011/lion. I think this started with Snow Leopard, but I'm not sure - I would like to find a way to disable this behavior go back to the old way where the columns stay stationary and I can look/move around the way I want to.
