When Facebook is open in browser; computer will turn off montiro but not sleep, hibernate, etc... multiple computers effected, same problem... just me?
When one of my family members' leaves their facebook "feed" page open in firefox, the computer will not go to sleep, nor hibernate automatically. This effects multiple different computers running Windows 7 and Vista.
I believe it has to do with the update-window scripting, though I do not know why the browser(?) is keeping the computer awake. Peculiar though because watching a movie in the browser allows automatic sleep.. Must just be scripting.
Anyone have this issue or know of a "fix"?
I have resolved the problem.
I replaced the AC adapter. Everying works find now. I tested runing the computer without the battery, and it works. So I might add that a possible test for an adapter that is not functioning properly is to try running it w/out the battery. If it does not run its possible that the ac adapter does not work.

Computer will recognize my iphone but not my wifes
My wife and I both have Iphone 4's that have been set up on the same computer. Recently the computer will recognize my phone but not my wifes. When I plug her's in, I get a double chime and that is it. Plug mine in, get a single Chime, and Itunes opens and syncs. I have removed Itunes and the supporting programs, including Bonjour, and reinstalled. It did not work. Also I took her phone to the Apple store, it recoginzed on their computer there and they installed IOS 5 for us. Got home and still nothing.
Any help would be great.
ThanksHello: Thanks to all who replied or read my concern. I was able to solve the issue on my own. What I forgot to mention in the original post was that both my wife and I were attempting to use the Free App " Find My iPhone" from the App Store to set up Find My iPhone which I'm not certain if that was the source of the headache.
At any rate, I simply deleted the app from both iPhones and set up them up in iCloud using the same AppleID account and password which is what it said all along-but I was not getting it. After doing so, both my iPhone and my wife's iPhone are listed in My Devices.

My computer will connect to wifi but not the Internet. It's not a problem with my router because I've tried other devices on the same router and they work. I have also tried my computer on other routers and there is still no Internet connection. Does anyone know how to fix this?

My macbook turns off randomly but not completely because when I tap the touchpad it goes to the password screen and I am back to it in seconds. It's really annoying. HELP!!!
1. Non volatile random access memory (NVRAM) is where the computer stores user's settings, like time and date, speaker volume, energy saver settings etc.
2. Reseting NVRAM has no impact on anything on your hard drive, or anything else on the computer.

My computer is surviving off chargers, but not allowing itself to charge.
My macbook pro I just got about a month ago now will not charge when plugged into the power adapter. There is a very very faint green light and the computer is constantly (calculating...) the battery life. I have been continually on 11% for 2 days when I am using it when it is plugged in. I plugged a friend's charger (who also has a 15in macbook pro) and it did the same thing with that charger too. Has anyone else experienced this problem and how do I get this fixed?
I am experiancing the exact same problem as well as severe overheating and random shutdown.
My battery is not covered in the recall problem and Apple are refusing to admit there is a problem across the range. -
I just added two external firewire drives and they keep going to sleep. I did not have this problem when using USB external drives. I have turned off "put disks to sleep" in power preference.
It is not clear if these are the same drives, just connected
differently, or different drives?
One thing that may be happening is that the drives firmware
itself is putting it to sleep when inactive. Many drives on
the market have ths feature and it is turned on by default
and require a drive utility from the manufacturer to disable it. -
There's a black space at the top of my window, and when I open the browser, my home page comes up but the address line is blank. How do I fix this?

When trying to open iPhoto the computer says:

So I click ‘upgrade’

TheoIs your Apple Intel-based, poppelmacbook? If not, you should consider treating yourself to a new Mac. Last December I gave up my old because it just could not update...anything because it was not Intel-based. Updating everything on this OS to 10.9 has been confusing for me, but I just could not work with that old Mac because the updates were too smart? for my 10.6. It is upstairs now...for visiting family: games, garage band, etc.--things I never did use. Apple refurbished and purchase the extended warranty. Apple loyalist since late 1980's.

When my phone is not plugged into the charger or computer, it will not turn on at all; even though it is not dead. When it's plugged into the computer, it will go to a white screen with a grey apple icon and then it will turn off again and repeat. IOS7 and iPhone 5.

Try this step and if you cannot get your device into recovery mode there is a chance you have a hardware failure and you need to call apple to see what service options you have. -

This error seems to happen because of the SMTP password provided being more than or less than 8 characters. The workaround is to either not provide any SMTP details or provide an exact 8-character password.

I upgraded to the newest version of Firefox yesterday. But now I cannot get online with Firefox. I can check my e-mail and browse the web on Internet Explorer, but not Firefox. I get a message that says Firefox is working offline. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, but that did not help. I restored my computer to Sunday's settings, but that did not help.
I have tried everything I could to fix this, but some things require actually being on Firefox, and since I cannot get on, I cannot click on the tabs to do it. I have even totally uninstalled firefox, and that has not fixed this. I still get the same message that firefox is running and I need to close it or restart (which I have also tried dozens of times). I have removed things like Java, and that has not helped either. If I cannot even get on line in firefox, how can I fix this. I am not crazy about using internet explorer, but right now, it is my only option. I even tried to start in safe mode, and the same message box pops up!

Th AVPlayerHD works well for playing other video types. You can transfer the videos via USB in the app tab in iTunes on your computer. When you open that tab when you have you iPad connected to the computer scroll down and you will see apps listed on the left and a blank on the right. Click on the app and then click on the add button under the blank window on the right. Then navigate to the video you want to play and it will transfer it to the iPad. I have about 14 movies on mine using AVPlayerHD. works very well. Also have VLC player (before it was yanked from the app store). Works about the same.
You can also get the app Air Video and stream the video to from your computer to the iPad, and even have Theo ad connected to the tv to watch on there. I do that all the time with my iPhone. Saves time with not having to sync movies all the time. -
When i start firefox, the Windows Glass (Aero) is on. Randomly during a browsing session, it will turn off and the glass will just turn into a single color with no transparency. If I open up other programs, or even a new window in firefox, the glass is still working for those windows. However the original firefox window remains opaque. What is happening? If it helps, I am running Windows 7 64 bit and Firefox.

I accidentally washed my 6th generation iPod nano. It will turn on still but now it has a computer screen setup on the screen, is there a way I can get it back to normal? I have just bought a Macbook Pro and sync data from my old version onto the new one...However when I tried opening the mail client...Message window does not appear.
