When FF 6.0.2 opens, two tabs open. I dont want both tabs opening

on startup. I have it set to open home page only, but another (something to do with addons) opens on startup.

Did you check the Home page setting to be sure that there aren't two pages separated by a pipe (|)?
If that isn't the case then delete or rename the files prefs.js and user.js in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Windows may be hiding the .js file extension.
The "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K and the "AppData" folder in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders.

The suggestion from silkphoenix works once, until you click on a link that opens a new window, then FF always opens on Monitor 2... the wrong monitor.

Firefox allows multiple home tabs, if you want to use that feature, but they all open in the same window. You do not get separate windows.
Just to clarify, the Windows Task Bar may show individual entries for each tab even if they are in a single window. You can turn that on/off in the Options dialog under Tabs: "Show tab previews in the Windows taskbar".
Could the problem be the extension named "Speedial 9.5.5"? If you don't need that one, try removing or at least disabling it. You can do that on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then your extensions should be listed on the right side.

I don't think Firefox has a built-in email button. Do you have an add-on that created that button, or do you mean a button pinned to the Windows Taskbar?
If it's an add-on, check whether it has an settings available for window vs. tab. If this doesn't appear with the button itself (for example, using a drop-down triangle next to the button) you can check the Add-ons page. Either:

* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then check the list for the relevant extension and try its Options... button.

Win 7, new tabs open for downloading programs I dont want, how do I stop this

New computer using Win 7, downloaded Mozilla, many times when moving the mouse on a new page and clicking login or some where on the page, a new tab will open, most of the new tabs will be soft ware sites saying I need to down load a program, such as Java HD, examples: Akamidhd.net, Findsectiokn.net, ect. Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. 
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. 
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Is there a way to open two color windows? I want to use both HSB and RGB sliders and have them side by side. If there isn't a way, how would I go about creating my own script for it?

Photoshop only has one Color Palette. If you could script something like a Color Palette with two sets of active sliders the script would be in control till you dismissed its sliders dialog. You would not be able to do anything but adjust the script's sliders in Photoshop while the script dialog window is being displayed. Photoshop Scripting does not have real palette dialog type support.
I do not know what is possible with Photoshop extensions using HTML 5 Panels.....

When I start Firefox it opens two instances at once

v7.0.1, running under Windows XP:
I thought the Tabbed Browsing feature looked really useful and spent an hour or so created a number of Tab Groups from my bookmarks. However, now when I start Firefox it opens two instances immediately, one correctly with my Tab Groups available but also another with just the home page. Apart from not wanting the second instance, there's now the risk that if I close the wrong one first, all of my carefully set up groups will disappear.
Something has gone wrong - how to correct it?

If this doesn't work, try deleting user.bk as well?
(This worked for me when I deleted user.js and user.bk, although I actually copied it to my desktop first in case it didn't work.)
EDIT: When I looked at the user.js 's contents, removing the line:
user_pref("browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone", "rv:7.0.1");
also fixed the problem

Multiple problems: can't open two windows, browser doesn't close although window disappears, and after working for a while I loose my ability to cut and paste or use drop down arrows

Maybe two weeks ago I discovered that I could no longer open two windows at a time (I can still open multiple tabs). I am also having problems with cutting and pasting, which is crucial to my on-line job. Plus, when I exit Firefox, it doesn't always shut down, so then when you go to re-open, of course, it won't (unless you go into process and turn it off). I have re-installed multiple times and I have also used restore. Nothing seems to be fixing this and I really, really don't want to use IE, especially for work.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Firefox just updated to 5.0.1 when it opens it opens two tabs, one a restore session tab and the other Firefox home tab. Nothing appears in the restore tab and everything freezes. Only way to get out is to ctrl, alt, del.

After updating to Firefox 5.0.1 and trying to open Firefox, it opens two tabs. One is the restore session tab and the other is the Firefox home tab. Nothing opens in the session restore tab and once the Firefox home tab loads the browser screen freezes with no crash ID's listed. The only way to get out is thru the task manager and ending the process. Firefox worked fine before updating.

Try typing ''about:home'' into the address bar. Is that the page you are looking for? If so, go to ''Tools > Options > General'' and save it as your homepage. If that home page doesn't show up the next time you start Firefox, you should look at [[Preferences are not saved]].
