When graphics go xtremely slow

I´ve had a very smooth transition to LP 9. Everything works!
But on one song I have been playing heavily with the flex tool.
And now KeyC for zooming are extremely slow.
If I open another song, it´s normal.
I tightened up 8 drum tracks. It works!
And much easier than Elastic Audio.
Then the bass track: Hmm! It produces a lot of pops and clicks.
Don´t know if this a question or a another add to the bugs list?
JanD

Heavy use of the flex tool will definitely make the graphics lag eventually.
The way I understand the flex tool ( and anybody correct me if I'm wrong ) is that it's a real time timestretch of the source material, and if so that is going to be extremely processor heavy.
It's the same when you do the global tempo mapping thing from a source track.
The bass thing sound like a bug to me, try shifting it to a different track and see if it stops although again, it might be the processor lagging.
I suggest tightening up with the flex tool and then bouncing in place, freeing up the processor to do it's thing.

How do I stop a download when it is too slow?

Solved my own problem:  Go to the sidebar on i Tunes to "Downloads" and click on this.  It will show current downloads.  Click on the download you wish to delete and then click on "delete" in the File menu.  You can also shift-click to delete a range of items.

  • CC Bridge slow-.  adjustment brushes not showing size, adjustments when done blind are slow to react

I am running Imac 2.7 GHz    16 gb ram    600 gb hard drive available
adjustment brushes not showing size, adjustments when done blind are slow to react.

Bridge is far more than a file browser.   Bridge does what lightroom does.
When working with Raw  files, there are tools,   **adjustment brushes** that allow you to dodge and burn raw files.
These brushes are size adjustable and now with CC, I can not see the size of the tool I am using.
So you might want to look at Bridge differently, as it is a very powerful tool.
Anyone else have a similar experience with CC version of Bridge?

  • Pdf file size increases when printing resulting in slow print speed.

I have a .pdf that is saved at 27MB. When I send it to an HP Designjet T520 36in printer the file size jumps up to 136MB and the printing is incredibly slow. This does not happen on all files on a few random ones. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

It's entirely normal for file size to increase. PDFs are much more compressed than print streams. For some printers the print size is almost constant (a huge bitmap), for others, it's a collection of graphical items and the size varies enormously. Rarely anything you can do.

  • Brush Tools lagging when Graphics Processor enabled

    Hi,
I've recently installed Photoshop CC and am experiencing a problematic lag when using the brush tool.
This occurs either when using a mouse, or a tablet device and stylus.
I'm running a brand new laptop. It has a Quad-core I7-4700MQ, 32 gb RAM and an NVIDIA GTX 780m dedicated graphics card, with Windows 7 64 bit professional.
It also has an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600 card, but PS CC is set to use the dedicated 'High Performance' card.
When the graphics processor is enabled in the performance menu, either at basic, normal or advanced, the brush tool is visibly slow.
However when the graphics processor is disabled, the brushes work perfectly.
I've allocated 80% Ram usage to Ps, as well as increased cache tile size to 1028k. I'm using my primary drive as a scratch disk, but being a solid state I didn't think this would cause a problem.
Other software such as Flash CC seems to be working fine.
For the work I'm doing in PS I need rotate canvas function, enhanced zoom etc working properly.
Are the 700 series NVIDIA graphics cards compatible with PS CC? Seeing as its one of their latest, I wouldn't have expected any problems.
Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Thanks for replies. Currently have Geforce 332.21 driver installed, which i believe is the latest. System info below:

  • [Solved] Minecraft graphics are extremely slow. (~2 frames per minute)

I took a break from Minecraft for a few weeks and, during the interim, I changed a few things around with my Arch system, updated packages, etc..
I came back and now, whenever I login, the graphics slow down immensely. The screen only updates about once every 20-30 seconds, and it doesn't seem to respond when I try to click "singleplayer". I've been using the nVidia driver for a while now, long before this issue came up.
I've looked in a lot of threads and couldn't find a similar issue anywhere.
I've tried versions 6 and 7 of both Sun Java and OpenJDK, but there was no change.
I also tried updating the LWJGL libraries in the .minecraft folder, but that didn't help either.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Edit:
If it helps, I tried Runescape (also a Java game) as well just to see if it that could help me determine the problem. It worked fine though. Without any hitches.

    Solved!
It was an updated nVidia driver. I downgraded to nvidia-295.33-2 and to nvidia-utils-295.33-1 and now it is working fine.
I supposed I will be blacklisting upgrades to those packages for a while.

  • IMac 27" i7 graphic crash overheating slow

iMac 27" i7 models slowly melt down!
Have you ever been wondering why you'r iMac 27" i7 is getting slower and freezing?
Everytime you put the graphics under pressure by gaming or working with hardcore graphics, 3D, etc. for a longer period (like 3-5 hours) you'r iMac 27" i7 gets hot... VERY HOT.
Everytime your iMac gets hot, it makes a small damage to the processor, and the computer gets slower and slower and slower...
It all starts with the graphics getting slower, which make you feel your computer is getting slower!
(if you'r a iMac 27" i7 owner and you'r computer never gets slower, please go to wikipedia and search for MIRACLE)
Then the reboot time gets longer and longer, and sometimes the "killer screen" appears at start-up (screen freeze and turns white or light blue)
Right before your iMac 27" i7 take it's last breath, screen flickering appears on you'r desktop and applications, and finally you got a screen with only stripes or graphic parts or just one color.
From now on you'r iMac will only boot when it's cold and after 15 mins when it get's warm.. gues what?.... FREEEZE #?§!""##
You know the processor is completly dead when you'r not able to reboot anymore, and find yourself on your way to the nearest apple repair store.
    Here is what i think...
The big 27" SCREEN, the i7 PROCESSOR and the big GRAPHIC CARD PROCESSOR requires alot of power which heating up the small space alu cabinet.
The fans is factory set to make minimum noise and just barely cool down "normal tasks" like surfing the net, sorting pictures, watching movies, working in numbers and pages and so on...
As soon you start working with more demanding graphic app's or games, the fan does not cool properly, and you get NO warnings that you'r computer is about to get very sick!
I also suspect the heat causes damage to the built in WiFi and CD/DVD drive, since the i7's have alot of problems with lost wifi connections and brooken CD/DVD drives.
I've had all imac 27" i7 models since it first came on the market, and every single one of them ended up with a overheated and smashed processor.
Today my 3rd iMac i7 crashed..
I work with Logic Pro, Final Cut, Photoshop, Illustrator and play Battlefield 3 in Windows 7 on my mac...
WARNING! Windows only speed up the "melt down" process!
    Hope it helps you?
    Thomas

    This is nothing new.
I have been saying what you've been saying since I got my first, uses 2009 iMac almost 9 months, ago.
I have written numerous posts in this forum about this issue.
Sensitive computer electronics do not like heat. Especially too high or unusually high heat like what these newer design iMacs internally generate.
High or excessive heat shortens the life of electronic components. Especially the electronic components in computers and iMacs, specifically.
The design of 2009-2012 iMacs simply are not designed sufficiently to properly exhaust the internal heat build up inside these iMacs. The iMac aluminum backplate enclosure absorbs and holds much more heat on the inside than is convected outward from the outside of the enclosure.
How have I dealt with this.
First, I removed the front glass of the iMac.
This has had two effects. One is that the screen is not as glossy any longer and two, it allows some of the heat, more or less convect out from the front of the iMac more freely.
Third, I run Sofware fan controls for the fans and have ramped them up enough to keep the iMacs internal temps cooler without over revving the fans to cause them to prematurely fail. The iMac is a little noisier, but not annoyingly so.
Fourth, I run a small external fan on the iMac's aluminum backplate/enclosure to cool my iMac from the rear.
I Am hoping all of these things will extend my iMac's life cycle.
Having a Mac burn out within 3-5 years in completely unacceptable to me.
Especially given that I still have an almost 10 year old PowerMac G4 MDD that is going strong that has many, many hours of use and upgrades within it.

  • Error reading Remote file when the connection is slow

I have a program that reads a file from a remote server. The file is an xml file.
    This uses URL inputstream.
This works just fine but when the xml that it reads grow in size, the content of the file is not completely sent to the variable string.
I have come to a conclusion that slow connection to the server could somehow cause this. The error is intermittent. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
I hope you guys could help me tune this code or if you have suggestions like other ways to read a remote file. Which will work even if the file grows bigger.
    Thanks
    public String readRemoteFile(String fName)
    try
    boolean bolContinue = true;
URL tUrl = new URL(fName); //create a URL object with the server source file
    //Logger.log("Getting filesize : " + fName);

well looks that ur run() method is being called more then one time (..)
why dont u try file method exists() before writing it to ensure that it is not written previously

  • Windows Graphics 20 times slower than Linux Graphics?

    Hello,
I am working on a java application to visualize 3D crystal structures. The atomes in the structure are drawn with "DrawOval" and "FillOval". Most of the processor time is spent on these two commands. Since I want to draw several thousands up to tens of thousands of atoms in real time, performance is a serious issue.
The program works well, however I made the following observance: The code running on Windows XP is about 20 tims slower (approx. 100 ms/frame vs. 5 ms/frame) than the same code running on the same computer under Linux!
Why is there such a big performance difference?
Is there a way to have the same performance on the windows machine as on the linux machine?
Is it necessary to use a different way to display circles?
Hardware: AMD dual Athlon, NVidia GeForce4 Ti 4400.
Thanks a lot for your help!

I should say I'm surprised that there is such a big difference in performance, but if you want really great performance you might want to look into using OpenGL, even if you only do 2D graphics. 3D drivers are usually more optimized than the 2D counterparts (simply because of greater demand, unless you look into HighEnd CAD graphics cards).
Obviously OpenGL will only be faster if you've got accelerated 3D drivers for every platform.

  • High CPU usage when graphics card is put at work

I have a 13inch Air with 2GB RAM and 256GB  with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. All possible updates have been installed.
I noticed some tearing when trying to move program windows across the screen so I started checking the CPU usage. I saw that it is spiking to 25-35% when moving a window across the screen. When you drag down a window you can see the different copies of the top bar across the screen. Not smooth at all like on a standard PC windows system. Same issue when scrolling through webpages which spikes the cpu
I also noticed a high cpu usage when playing mkv files 25-30% while on an Atom HTPC i get a lower load playing the same file. The Air should be faster than an atom with a nvidia 9400m when playing video files.
I already tried updating the nvidia files to the latest version on their site by hacking the driver inf but this did not resolve the issue.
Has anyone experienced the same or know what could be causing the beavior?
    Many thanks

Maybe my initial post was not clear so let me add some clarifications.
I have the problem with Aero disabled
I have the problem on the Apple site which does not have any flash content.
I have already hacked the lastest nvidia drivers to get them on my system which did not change anything. Can you provide a link to some other 'supported' beta drivers?
I am using the new 13 inch air so it has the newer graphics card so I would expect it to be faster than an old HTPC with a 9400m in it. I wasn't stating that my Air had a 9400m.
It would be great if someone you also do the test to check the cpu load:
    - when playing a 720 mkv
    - when dragging a window across the screen
Just open task manager and see if the CPU spikes.
    Many thanks!

  • Os x 10.8.3 update caused graphic and general slowness

on my mid2012 15inch macbook pro, which worsens when switching to the powerful graphic card. MRI shows no hardware malfunctions. any ideas what may cause this?

    thank you for your response.
the process that has the highest cpu usage value is kernel_task and its around 5.0 most of the time.

  • Mac Book Pro-- Xtremely Slow

Recently my computer has been really slow. It takes ages to laod up something. I have had this comp for about 3 years now. Pls help me.

I find myself in a similar position with a 2.5-ish year old MBP that has been running like a dog lately. I did copy my home folder over from my iMac when I migrated and updated from Tiger to Leopard, but haven't experienced any problems until the last 6 months. It's got 4GB of RAM and I have plenty of space left.
But, I'm finding that even after I replaced the battery that only lasted for maybe 30 minutes, the new one only lasts for like 1.5 hours. If I have a full charge, it takes as much as 8-12% of the battery life to go from pressing the power button to a usable state. Even when the desktop comes up, it takes another several minutes of waiting before Safari, Mail, or other programs are responsive enough to actually use. Pretty sure this isn't supposed to be the case.
Do Macs suffer from bitrot? I was considering waiting for Snow Leopard, but I'm seriously thinking now that I just need to do a format and clean install, keeping only the contents of my Pictures, Movies, Music, and Documents folders and my Mail.app store.
Seems like using a bomb from a B52 to open a door perhaps, but at least I'd know I've got a clean setup. :-P

  • Verifying Signature PDFs when opening is very slow

When opening a PDF it takes a really long time.  At the bottom of the screen it shows "verifying signatures".  How can speed up this process without unchecking "verify signatures when the document is opened"?  As a test I unchecked this box and the PDF opened almost instantly which leads to be beleive this "verification" is causing the slowness.  Also tested the file on a network drive and local desktop and both takes a really long time to open. I also imported some of the signature certificates into the "trusted certificates" but that did not fix the issue. Thanks.

What version of Acrobat are you using? Are the signtures use self-signed certificates or something else?I know signature verification performance has been addressed in various updates. You might also want to post this in the Acrobat Security forum: http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat/security_%26_digital_signatures?view=discussions
