Sure your inserting the headset into the Headphone Out port and not the In port..?
Also what headset....?
Most PC based headset with built in mic's will not work without using a device like the Griffin iMic.

If you try by Ethernet you can verify if the issue is with your WiFi network or if your appletv is defect as most users do not suffer as you do

Sorry, but you are not addressing Apple here, we are all users in these forums, just like you.
If you buy an iPhone from another country, the warranty and service can only be handled in the country where it has been bought. Since Apple does not sip internationally, you'll have to bring the iPhone back in person or send it to someone who can do that for you in the USA.

Keeping mail in sync is a function of what type of mail account you have. Sounds like you have an IMAP or Exchange account, & that's the way things are designed to work. Why don't you just create another folder on the server & move these emails to that folder. That way, they'll be out of your inbox, but still available on your laptop.

Why does Photoshop display colors differently from the other applications even in sRGB mode ?

Here is my problem :
Photoshop is set to use sRGB workspace (in edit/colors.../workspace/RVB).
If I understand correctly this is how all native windows applications work.
This means Photoshop and the other applications should display the same colors on a file with a sRGB profile.
Now this is the case until I calibrate my monitor.
When I do, Photoshop colors become different from the other applications (irfanview, explorer, browsers...).
The only way I found to let everything display the same colors is to set Photoshop to use Proofing/RVB Monitor.
What upsets me even more is that Photoshop colors look "better" to me (dark grays seem to dark to me in the other applications.)
I have read that this is because Photoshop takes the new profile into account and others applications do not. But I don't think this is relevant here because everything is in sRGB so the only profile is my monitor's and I think calibration is handled globally by windows : everything (including browsers, explorer, and Photoshop) changes color if I choose to apply the monitor's profile or not with windows color management tool ("use my parameters for this device").
Here is my system configuration :
- Photoshop CS4 (11.0.2)
- Windows 7 64 bits
- HP ZR2440W and DELL 2209WA (these are not wide gamut screens)
I have spent two days trying to figure the logics behind this and really am upset. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Don't hesitate to ask me if there is something that is unclear or some information I forgot to mention.

I'm not sure where you're getting "insecurity"... I am just trying to help you help others more effectively.
I invite you to re-read just the first sentence of what you wrote very carefully, putting yourself in the shoes of someone struggling with both the terminology and the concepts:
Photoshop (CMS) reads an embedded ICC profile and CONVERTS it to the custom monitor profile for a theoretical 'true color' display
Think about what "Photoshop (CMS)" might mean to a person who doesn't know the acronym might stand for "Color Management System" (which is I assume what you meant). Adobe themselves don't call it "CMS", they use the acronym "CMM" (Color Management Module). The term "CMS" is used in the computer industry for about a dozen different things.
While a color profile might have been embedded in an image file before it was opened by Photoshop, Photoshop works on documents. A profile is not "embedded" in a document, it is maintained by Photoshop with the document and describes the color values in the document. If Photoshop opens a document without an embedded profile, depending on settings and user choices it might assign a profile or it might even operate on the document without color-management. Oversimplification doesn't help people when they're trying to learn new things unless it's described as such, for example, "This is a bit of an oversimplification..." or "Generally speaking..."
Not every monitor profile is a "custom monitor profile". Quite often a standard profile (e.g., sRGB IEC61966-2.1) is associated with a monitor by the operating system as a default, or a factory profile is installed by a driver package or system update. Your use of the term "custom" is a bit ambiguous and could be read as implying the creation of a profile using a calibration and profiling device specific to the particular monitor.
Photoshop's color management code does not convert an embedded ICC profile at all (read carefully what you wrote). As I said, it transforms color values. That was the key error in your description that prompted me to comment.
If ever there is a time to pick words carefully, it's in a color-management discussion.

Why does "enclosing folder" not work from the SEARCH window?

I do a command+F search.
Command+2 to view as list rather than groups
and then sort by date modified.
When I find the file/folder I want I'd really like to do a command+[up arrow] which in the GO menu is a valid command.
Why does this work in finder windows but not in the search window?
I'm not using spotlight, just the good old command+F
This used to work in Sherlock 1 [using command+E] and when you opened the enclosing window, the file was already hi-lighted, faster to locate and saved mousing.

You'll note that in the Go menu that command is grayed out meaning it's not active in the search results display.
If you upgrad to Leopard then you can go to the Finder's View menu and select "Show Path Bar." The full path to any selected item in the Finder's window will be displayed in a path bar in the lower portion of the window. You can then double-click on any displayed folder to open a window on that folder.

When I turn my MBP on, it makes a whirring and grinding sound for a few seconds (5 secs?) and then boots up normally. The sound appears to come from the right side, perhaps near/under the button.

The MBP makes no noise after this. I can't recall ever dropping it.
I purchased it in Jan 2011 (so I'm guessing it's a 2010 model? No idea. Has black keys & new, slim charger!)
Happens when I've turned it off and on & when I restart.
What do you think the problem is most likely to be?
I've had it over a year now so my Apple warranty is already up. I got it from John Lewis though, who give you 2 years warranty.
Both John Lewis & Apple stores are 1-2 hours away from where I live now.
Should I -
a) visit the Genius bar and hope they can fix it there and then? What does Genius tend to cost & can it be quick?
b) take back to John Lewis (and I guess they'll fix it for free under warranty but take a zillion years!)
c) find a repair shop where I live, who will look at it quicker but may also cost and arm and a leg?
d) any other suggetions? Maybe never turn the laptop off again ;-)

OK - more details/info now.
When I use terminal and type this:
drutil eject
I believe the DVD drives makes the odd noise I heard when I booted the laptop up.
Any thoughts?
I'm guessing that means my fan/hardrive are actually OK then, and it's probably the mechanism in the DVD drive that is causing problems?
I'm almost certain there's no DVD stuck in there?

Why is sound coming out only from the subwoofer?

I installed Win7 Ultimate on my HP Pavilion DV7 4180ea and now sound is only playing through the subwoofer. If I plug the headphones or my sound sistem sound is perfect but without them sound only comes out of the subwoofer. I NEED REAL HELP, please don't start with "Have you installed the sound driver" or that kind of s**t. Thank you in advance.

Please try to check this link to see if you have missed any troubleshooting step, that might help to understand or resolve the problem.
If you only installed Win 7 Ultimate, and you have the sound driver installed and sound works on the headphones and external sound system you have, i can only think about the internal speakers being disabled r not being set as the default device.
They should be fully functional. CHeck if they are disable, not sure if you have checked that already but, i dont see any other reason for them not being working.

Check the audio settings as well, in control panel, for that icon you say you have on the system tray bar, check if you have a control panel for that sound feature and see if you have any setting related to default playback device, and make sure the internal speakers are selected.

No sound is coming out from the speaker

I am a novice. I can't hear any sound from my speakers, not even when I turn my laptop on. There are no mute selections on my sound / volume control.

I spoke too soon!!! :( :( Sound came back just fine, re-installed Real Player, and not long after the sound went again. Went to System Restore again but the previous earlier point was now gone - and no other System Restores could get the sound back.
So I know the sound works, it's a conflict somewhere - where, I am not sure. Probably with Real Player but even with it uninstalled, the sound doesn't come back, so if it is RP, whatever it did to tweak the sound doesn't get undone with an uninstall?
Very frustrating. It looks like my Norton is corrupted too, which may be a virus but I am not sure yet. And I have only had this computer a week!!!! :( Very unhappy at the moment. Do not want to have to re-install everything and re-load all files and programs I just spent the last few days doing, especially if the same thing will happen again!

Just upgraded my 2014 iMac to yosemite. Now my Bose sound link won't work. The bluetooth is connected and it beeps as normal, just no sound comes from the speaker. This is very frustrating (along with the now flat rather than 3D icons on the desktop)

I have now recently downloaded 10.0.2 which is confusing in itself, as, as far as I can ascertain that is actually version 11, but I'm not even sure about that.
Version 10.0.2 is the newest version and the successor to GarageBand '11 (version 6.0.5).
The '11 is referring to the iLife '11 suit of multimedia application - the older GarageBand was a part of this bundle.

The original issue with Java has been fixed yet FF continues to state the same warning which must be confusing at least and a road block for others at worst?

So, I'm posting a question, which is really a request that the Devs remove this warning.
It has nothing to do with my OS and also doesn't need me to Allow you to install something to gather information, just install Java and check the Plugins...

Obviously the responder didn't check anything assuming that the responder had Java installed.
If Java was NOT installed on the responders system, then the responder didn't bother to check 'what you get' when running FF in Safe Mode....
When running FF in Safe Mode you get NOTHING in the menu bar and therefore you can't check Addons>Plugins to see if the warning exists.
If the responder had read the thread in Bugzilla@Mozilla the responder would have seen that the warning was added by the FF Support Team, not an Addon.
I suggest that someone read the other thread, possibly contact 'Hughes', install Java and actually look at the problem rather than providing useless answers to valid questions.
And the little checkbox indicating that I'm providing the requested information has been left as 'ticked' because the above response fits that criteria - Was this Useful? - No it wasn't.

Why does my iphone4 not charge from the wall when on? But will charge when on and plugged into my laptop? I've tried different wall plugs, charging docks.. Nothing works, not even car charger.. Anyone else having this issue since the update?

My iphone 4 will no longer register my wall charger while on.. It WILL charge if turned off.. OR, if I plug it in to my laptop while on. Tried any different cords and plugs, all the same result.. REALLY REALLY frustrating!!

Why does "Sender Name" randomly change from the actual sender to another sender from recently received mail?

When the email is first received the "Sender Name" is correct. When opening Thunderbird later the "Sender Name" has been changed in a random fashion to another sender of recently received email.

Maybe the indexing needs fixing.
right click on foldre and select 'Properties'
Then click on 'Repair folder' button
click on OK
refresh folder pane / clickon another folder and then go back.

I spent 100 bucks on this thing. It would be nice to know if i need the cable to watch my TV. This thing just stopped working. I'm going to return this and go get the chrome cast (35 dollars and it works). This is a major pain to have to go out and buy one.

Apple doesn't supply the cable because only a handful of people ever need one and of those that do the vast majority will already have one.
For the overwhelming number of users who don't need or already have a cable this represents a saving when they purchase their Apple TV which of course then doesn't include the price of a cable.
For the very few users who do need to purchase a cable, they have lost nothing because they are only paying for something they would have had to pay for when they bought the Apple TV, if a cable was included in the box.

Why does my ipod disconnect me from the internet at a certain time every night?

Every night at 9 pm my Ipod disconnects me from every app that requires internet. It says I am still connected to the internet but I still can't access my apps. I'm not sure what time it reconnects me in the morning. My Ipod had not been doing this until I got the latest update. I'm not sure if there is anything I can do to change this but if there is I would like to. I have gone through my Ipod and there are no restrictions set that I have noticed.

Maybe your Internet Service Provider shuts down some server at 9pm every day.
