When home sharing, a library will not load.

I have an old imac running itunes 9 and a laptop pc running itunes 10.
The Imac can access the laptop library. My laptop recognises the imac library, but when I click on it, it tries to load it then just stops and goes back to its own library.
Could anyone identify any reasons for this. Help is much appreciated.

And perhaps if someone at apple could actually make it so the tags we type in to help with these issues show up exactly as we type them and not as a jumbled mess, then that would be useful too.
I have an imac g4 running os10.4.11 and itunes 9 trying to connect to a latop running windows 7 and itunes 10.7

Home Sharing - Itunes library does not load and jumps to Music

Hi, I have 2 itunes libraries on 2 different computers on the same network using the same apple id. One of the computers is an IMAC and the other is windows.
On the windows computer when I click on the shared library (from the IMAC) the library appears from the IMAC. When I am on the IMAC and click on the shared library (from the windows computer) it looks like it is searching then jumps the "music" library, that displays the current library on the IMAC.

Shared library will not load

My Shared library will not load. I see it in the list, but when I click on it the status indicator runs for a while and then it just goes back to the local library.

I also have this problem. I have a mac running os snow leopard and my dad has a pc running windows vista. he has no problem taking my music via home share, but I cannot load his library. I click on his library and it loads for a little while and then bumps me back to my local library.

So, I have created my home sharing from my base computer to my laptop. On my lap top I see the tab for home sharing but it will not let me connect to my computer to share my music over. I have done everything iTunes has told me to but it still won't work.

I got some more info that may help.
I put a cd on my laptop, and was able to share it to my computer... So the problem is only from my computer to my laptop. I tried the firewall thing and it did not help. I read the rest of the trouble shooting page, and nothing else applies. iTunes is an execption and already was. I can not think of anything else being my problem. Do you think I should re-install iTunes or would that be a waste of time? At this point I am about to just call Apple for some help because I am getting to stressed over this.

Itunes library will not load unexplicably...

i have itunes 8.0.1.11 and without any error messages or prior problems started up my itunes program and the library i have will not load...and it is completely blank of any of my library or music files.
my music will play when i click on it from the files created by itunes.
i realize that i can drop all my music files onto my itunes and they will play but i have spent tons of time creating playlists, adding ratings, adding cover art and genres to my preference. it would be a heartbreak to have go back through it and organize.
how can i restore my library?
i have double clicked on every library file in my itunes folder as well as dragging them into my itunes music player.
please help!!

Did you have your library file iTunes Library.itl on the external drive?
If you did, you could try a shift key start - hold down the shift key while starting iTunes and you should be asked to choose a library. Navigate to the location of your library file on the external disk and choose iTunes Library.itl.
If you had your Library file in the iTunes folder on your c: drive, it has most likely been damaged and iTunes has created a new one.
There is a small possiblity that you can reacreate it from the xml file:

Otherwise you just add your iTunes Music folder to iTunes with File>>Add folder to library. This loses all counts ratings and playlists.
Be sure you have the location of your iTunes Music folder correctly set in Edit>>Preferences>>Advanced>>General.

I have My.MSN for my home page and firefox will not load the information on movie theaters AND my stock pics. It used to work fine but after last update these features no longer work

When I load my home page, the items MOVIES THEATER and my STOCK QUOTES will not load. If I try to make ANY changes to my home page it changes from my.msn.com changes to my.msn.com/x and nothing will happen.
If I loan MSN and copy the address bar and paste it to the Firefox browser, it will load properly the first time BUT will not load properly again.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

TS2972 My library will not load on Apple TV following latest iTunes upgrade

All was working fine until the latest iTunes update was installed. Now my photos strem and my screensaver still works but I can't access the library as it will not load. Have tried all troubleshooting tips on Apple TV help.

My sisters library and mine are set up on a home sharing account. I go into my iTunes on a seperate computer than her and her library shows up in my drop down. But when i click on it in shows the loading symbol but never pops up! Please help!!

Hi!, I hope my english still works and helps you: using Home sharing I have same issue on my 2 machines (iMac PPC with 10.5 & Macbook PRO intel with 10.6) and the HDD on first machine was partitioned and iTunes's library was copied on 2nd partition. Well, now the "old" iMac PPC reads and copies all library from Macbook, but not vice-versa so both libraries must be in the Home directory.

I can see the library on the 2nd computer using home sharing but the library will not load

I have home sharing on both of the computers, I see the library on the machine I was to bring it to but when I select it says loading but then doesn't ever bring in all the music.

I finally got the computer to download the library, 6800 songs. I had to turn off my mcafee real time scan & firewall for 15 minutes on both machines. I them hit import and for the last day and a half it was copy the library to my laptop I thought. I had one pop up at the very end that said it couldn't download one song which wasn't a big deal so I thought I answered it correctly that it was fine to skip it. It was done copying them but they aren't on the laptop, so I am now importing them again what do you suggest I do after it finishes importing this time? Again I wasn't thinking and did a select all instead of just one album but it is going much faster so I believe the songs must be on my laptop.

Shared library will not load on my iPad.

In the videos app on my iPad, when I click on the shared library tile under the 'Shared' button, the library loads until the indicator gets halfway, and then it just stops. However, in my iPhone (4, iOS 6), the library loads almost immediately. The library is also available on my appleTV.
I've tried quitting the apps involved (iPad Videos app, iTunes on the computer), and restarting both the iPad and iMac.
This problem is intermittent. It was working fine last week, although this has happened twice before, and I cannot figure out what resolved it.
What gives?

I did talk to Apple Support about a month ago, and they walked me through shutting down Home Sharing on my Mac and all devices, and then restarting all hardware, and then restarting Home Sharing on everything.
This got my library to finally load, and I was able to stream the movies to my iPad. But it lasted for less than a day, and now I'm back to where I started, unable to load the library in the Videos app or the Music app.
I don't have to do this with my iPhone (4, OS6) or appleTV, and I certainly don't want to reboot everything in order to stream a movie or music onto my iPad.
Again, Apple, what gives?

Apps not shared when home sharing itunes library

I have successfully transfered my itunes library from my old windows xp to my new windows 7 but only 4 newly purchased apps came across. How do I get the rest of my apps to share without having to redownload them from itunes?

Instruments in Logic Pro 9 Library will not load: I try to add a new instrument on a project and get a "cannot be found" error.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
As a faculty member in the School of Music, I have just acquired a copy of Logic Pro 9.1.8 through my University. The programs and instrument packs were installed by our IT department and show as being fully installed on Logic Pro when I search for additional content through the Logic Pro tab at the top of the screen. The window shows that all 6 Jam Packs, Logic Pro & Main Stage Content (Essential and Additional) GarageBand content, and Surround content is installed. However when I try and add a new instrument on a project, most of these instruments cannot be found. I get the following error:
Audio file “KB_pizz_f_C1.wav” not found!
I then press the Continue Tab, and it looks for the instruments in an empty file that Logic creates in the Music section of the hard drive. I have investigated the sounds by going through the MAC Hard Drive>Library>Application Support>Logic>Sampler Instruments folder, and tried to copy the sounds into the Music>Logic folder created by the program. That does not work either. Even attempting to go into these Logic Pro instrument files one at a time has proved fruitless. I am told that the file cannot be opened.
The files appear to be installed, but cannot be accessed or opened. They all have that translucent grey appearance when I attempt to click on the icon. This is true for about 80% of the files in the instrumental library. Whenever I create an instrument, the EVP88 Electric Piano is installed by default. There are a few instruments that I can successfully replace this default instrument with, but a majority of the instrumental library remains unavailable. Can anyone help?

You might try a different way of adding the video files to the web page. This demo page has one where the file does not load until the play button is selected: Opening Item in a New, Precisely Sized Window. This demo page has 9 short videos on it using that method: PhotoPresenter Animated Slideshow Themes. Just add a screenshot of one of the movie frames or any photo you want and add the Play button on or below it.
You manually upload the movie file to your server so iWeb is not involved in the uploading the file at any time.
Similarly this demo page, QT movies via iFrame, has a method that has you manually uploading the file to the server and linking to it via iFrame code. That page also has other similar methods.
Another method is demonstrated in Roddy's iWeb for Musicians site on his Video page. Here you also upload manually.
OT

Library will not load.

When I try to load the Aperture Library I get the following {"Aperture Library.aplibrayt" is an iPhoto library and cannot be opened in Aperture. You may import your iPhoto library into Aperture using the File menu.} {Quit}. Quit is the only option. In the background I can see the photos and the folder/projects in the sidebar but can not access them. If I quit it closes Aperture. I have tried to import the file as an iPhoto library as it suggests but that does not work. Help! I have also tried to use time machine files to load but get the same thing.
Ideas?

If you select the library in the finder and click Get Info what does it say for kind?
With Aperture closed, If you double click the library what happens?
Select the library in the finder right click and slect show package contents, take a screen shot of the finder window and post it.
Finally if you can copy the following two lines into the AppleScript editor and run it then select the library what is returned?
The returned string will be displayed in the bottom window of the AppleScript editor.

HELP!!!! My iTunes Library will not load...

So, I uninstalled the Safari tool, I never use it. I restarted my computer and now my iTunes library is empty. I try to import the library from my music folder, and I get an error that says "The file iTunes library.itl cannot be imported because it does not appear to be a valid exported file"
What the heck did I do? And is there any way to fix it? All of my playlists and podcasts and purchased music and TV shows are gone. !!!
