When I am making a book, how do I hide the photos that I've already used?

The photos I've already used are marked with a check but I can't figure out how to hide them so I can look at just the ones I haven't used.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do you mean hide them in the photo tray at the top of the book mode? If so, you can't. They're there for the duration. That's why the check mark - so you know which have been used in the book.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

When creating a photo book how can I sort the photos shown by file name?

I am creating a photo book. The photos shown in the right hand column appear out-of-order. How do I sort them by file name? The album in iPhoto the book is based on is sorted by file name.

You can not - they are soreted by date
-- the only solution I have seen is to put them in an album sorted the way you and and then use the batch cnage command to redate them with a small invrement between so a data sort matches your desired sort -- I personally do not want to redate a bunch of my photos nor do i want to have to go through and un-re- date a bunch

When someone calls....how do you make the photo show in a small square?

In the commercials for the iphone, when someone calls, the phone defaults to the wallpaper (in the commercials its most often the photo of earth) and the photo of the person is a small square in the upper right corner. When people call me, the photo I've chosen for them takes up the whole screen.
How do I make my phone look like the phone in the commercial?!
PS, I understand this question is pretty hilarious and non at all an important one.

Not silly at all, many have asked.
In general, the answer is....
When you sync contacts from your comptuter, if you are using a Mac or Outlook 2003 (I think) or higher, then in your computer's address book, you can assign an image. Your computer makes (saves) a thumbnail of that contact with your contact data. When you sync, that thumbnail comes over to the phone.
When you assign a picture via the iPhone to a contact, it stores a full screen version of it instead of a thumbnail.
So when a person calls, if the image was from a sync with a picture that was assigned from the computer you will see what you saw in commercials. If the image was assigned from the iPhone directly, then you get the full screen view when they call.

How to find out the list of database tables that will be affected when we use a standard transaction(ex. VA01, MM01..)...?(like When we create a salesorder, which tables and which fields will be affected..?)

Give transaction code and in menu(system- status), double click onthe Program name.
Check in TOP INCLUDE - you will find all the tables related to that transaction.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc.
Certainly you did not restore your computer without making sure that your backup copy was up to date.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

I have a folder that my iPad sync's with, however when I open up the photos folder on my iPad, the pictures are in a different order than in my folder from the computer? Hello. First, title your photo's in numerial order, in the following format IMG_xxxx.yyy
where xxxx is the number, and yyy is the file type.
For those that are incorrectly orientated go to Photo App and select your folder, then a picture and edit. Rotate the photo as you want it, then hit the checkout arrow at top and select to email it to yourself. In the email you receive, hit the checkout arrow at the top of the page and selct to save photo. Photo will be saved back to photoroll.
Now normally if a root photo is unsynced, moved, or deleted - depending where it is - all other photos that link to it go the sameway.
Here's the workaround.
On your PC sync your device. Then browse to the Start button and select Computer. In the device and disk list select your ipad. The DCIM photo folder is displayed plus one folder. Open this folder. Select your photo you wish to save and choose copy. Open explorer go to your Pictures folder under your user account and create a new folder. Save the copy to the new folder.
When finshed - open your iTunes again, click your device and go to the pictures tab in the window where the summary page is dsplayed. Choose 'Selected Folders' put a tick in all the folders you wish to sync, hit apply and sync. Your photo should now display correctly. Delete all those you dont want. Photoroll photos are deleted via the ipad App, your own are deleted by unsyncing.
If ever you get a folder that will not sync. Untick it in itunes- create a new one and transfer your photos over on yor PC. Resync new folder when finished.

I need someone to help me move photos from my ipad to my pc. They are in my photo icon on my ipad but when i go to open my ipad on my pc they don't all come up. where do I get them and how do I get them back on me pc. I blow out my last mother board and lost all those files but all those photos are on my ipad what do I do.

The ipad is not a storage/bakcup device.
The sync is one way - computer to ipad.
It has alwasy been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occcasion.

Then you already have an iCloud account ?
You can purchase more storage > iCloud: Storage upgrades and downgrades
And you can free up storage by deleting photos > iCloud: How to delete photos from Photo Stream
You can also free up storage by turning off services on your Mac by opening System Preferences > iCloud

How can I upload the photos that I made an my old iPhone from iCloud to my new iPhone?

ICloud configures the new photos that I make with both my iPhones to both of my iPhones, but I don't get the old ones on my old iPhone to my new iPhone. Can't I just make sure all data from both my iPhones are put together on my new one, so I can stop using my old iPhone? The calendars are put together and my music and all, but the photos and notes not.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Only photos taken after Photostream has been enabled will be added to Photostream. If you want to move the photos from your old phone to your new one, you will need to do it manually.

If you mean your iCloud backup, you can't see the individual files contained in the backup. You can only access the data in the backup by restoring it to your device.
You can see categories of data stored in your iCloud account by going to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage. You can see the actual data by looking in the apps on your device that are syncing data with iCloud (contacts, calendars, notes, etc.). You can also see some of this data by going to icloud.com from your comptuer.

A backup is a compress folder, and we can't access on only Photos in it....
The resolution can be :
- Find another iPhone ( with the same software of your iPhone 5 or more recently for the compatibility)
- Backup this "New Phone" to lost nothing ( you can check your backup in 'Preference pane' of iTunes, Then "Device" ),
- Restore your iphone's backup on new phone, then if you have a window computer, copy your photos like USB key, or on Mac with iPhotos.
- Once you collect all your photos, restore new phone's backup on new phone.
New Phone can be a family's phone or a Friend's phone
