When I answer my vonage voip phone I loose my Airport signal.

Since I've installed Snow Leopard OS, everytime I answer my home phone which is Vonage Voip, I loose my Airport signal on my MacBook. It has to be related to the OS, because my other laptop which is PC works fine with the phone in use and the same Airport network.
Has anyone else encountered this issue?

This is strange. Your Vonage phone using a small Vonage router with an Ethernet and an RJ11 port that connects a phone cable to a regular phone. All voip on the net is UDP, not TCP/IP.
I am trying to understand how you network is set up. Is it from some kind of modem (cable, DSL or something else) to a wireless router. What router is that router? Then you have the Vonage router connect to an Ethernet port on the wireless router. Then the phone connects to the Vonage router's phone port. Is this correct?
I am just wondering if your wireless router is trumping all traffic for that UDP traffic generate by the Vonage router.

Screen won't lock or go black when answering calls
Verify mute or speaker have not been activated, just prior to placing your ear over the receiver.
While on a call hold your hand over the top third of the display, and verify that the screen is locked or goes to sleep.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
    Best of luck,

  • BT Infinity, Home Hub 5 and Vonage VoIP not compat...

    Hi
I have just (last Wednesday) switched from Sky Broadband to BT Infinity. I have a HH5 to which I wirelessly connect a TP-Link W8968 in wireless router only mode.  I have all this set up and it all works, but I cannot get a dial tone from my Vonage VoIP phone line.
It did come online for about 12 hours on Friday evening but has dropped off again.  It was plugged into the TP-Link router.
I have now plugged it directly into the HH5 to try to get a signal.
I have spent 4 hours on the phone with Vonage who have now told me (4th different person to speak to) after countless 'unplug it' and 'reset it' that the only way a Vonage line can operate with the HH4 and the HH5 is for all BT parental controls from within mybt.com to be deleted.  I have now done this but must now wait 2 hours to plug the Vonage box back in.
But, I need the parental controls for the children's internet use and do not want to have to delete them.
Surely there is another way for the Vonage box to work with an HH5?  It worked perfectly through my TP-Link with Sky Broadband.
    Any help gratefully received.
    Thanks in advance.
    Martin

Giving the VOIP device a static LAN IP address, outside of the DHCP range is best, as the home hubs will quite often issue different addresses via DHCP, and tend to ignore lease times. The fact that it worked for a while would suggest that maybe the LAN IP had changed.
This page should help with the settings.

  • Booted off Verizon Fios Internet when use VOIP phone.

When I use my VOIP phone while on the internet (I use Verison FIOS Internet), I get booted off the internet.  I have done what tech support said to do which was to do a hard reboot of the router but after a short while it does it again.  They had no more answers for me than that.  Does anyone else know what can be done?
    Thanks.

I have Fios Internet, TV and Phone and so I HAVE to use the Verizon router made by Actiontec. My Mac Book Pro is Leopard based.
Does the router have the latest firmware? Very important.
The problem is that I am paying for 20mbps service and getting about 6 to 8. This is regardless of where I am in physical relation to the router/modem and whether or not I am the only computer connected to the internet.
How are you measuring your speed?
PLEASE help. I have contacted Verizon and they have no ideas that help. I cannot watch Netflix or Boxee and even regular internet pages load painfully slowly.
I have a cable modem that runs at 10Mb/s and internet pages load instantly. On this Verizon DSL I am currently using, which creeps along at a mere 3 Mb/s, pages internet pages load instantly.
Even if your connection is 6 to 8 Mb/s, pages should load instantly, and streaming should work properly.
Clearly, you have some other problem with your system.
Again, how are you measuring your speed? What is your link speed? What are your measured upload and download speeds?
If you are using the router as a WiFi then you may not be getting the full speed you expect from a direct connection.
You need to supply much more real hard data than you have.
Your subject says that "Verizon Fios Internet, TV and Phone with Mac Book Pro is SLOW!" and Leopard has nothing to do with your TV or phone.

  • Problem transferring calls between Voip phones when the call is originated

    Hi,
    I have configured a gateway h323 (3640- 12.3) to communicate with Cisco Callmanager 3.3(4).
On the H323 gateway I have installed one BRI interface and one FXS interface.
Inside my network I am using VoIP telephones 7910.
    Originating calls in the Voip telephones which destination is the PSTN is working fine;
    Receiving calls from PSTN that destination is VoIP telephones is OK also;
Redirecting or doing “Hold” on calls between VoiP telephones works but…..
When redirecting or doing “Hold” on calls between a VoiP telephone and a call from PSTN I loose the voice stream.
Apparently, all signalling is working fine because when redirecting the call originated in the PSTN from one VoIP telephone to another VoIP telephone, I can see the Calling number ID. Even if I use the telephone keyboard, I can listen the tones, but I have no voice stream.
Please any help will be welcome.
    Thanks,
    David Costa

I have tried different configurations and now it is working. The problem is that I couldn’t identify were the miss configuration was.
Another question is: Can I use a codec with compression between voip interface of h323 gateway and the Callmanager or Voip phones to pass music on hold?
Now I only pass music on hold if I configure G.711 on the voip interface of h323 gateway.
    Thanks,
    David Costa

Have you installed iTunes on this computer before? If so, use [this article|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923] to help guide you through removing iTunes and all of it's components and then try [downloading iTunes|http://apple.com/itunes/download] again (choose to 'Save' it to your desktop instead of 'Run') and then re-install the application.

  • Ios 5 when i answer a phone call,  application audio  overrides phone call

often an app i used earlier to play audio starts up again when i answer a phone call... It is not actively in use at the time the call comes in, just has to be one of the apps used recently. I have had to manually forcequit app to get it to stop plaing and overwhelming the phone call.
This happens on 3gs as well as 4s. Same ios level.

That sounds like a problem with the app it self. What app is it? However, it is possible a reset will fix that. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. This will not affect data in any way.

The phone can receive calls (not answer) & the pictures & messages can be seen but the touch screen doesn't work to unlock the phone or select anything. Try backing it up to your computer with iTunes.  Connect it to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of the phone in iTunes, go to the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click Back Up Now.  Also go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases to transfer you apps and other purchased media to your iTunes library.

    Hi saintmary82,
If you are having a hard time hearing people through the receiver, take a look at the article below for some suggestions to get it sorted out. Start with cleaning the receiver and making sure your iPhone is up to date. If you continue to have issues, then you may want to contact Apple Support for further assistance.

  • My phone will ring but when you answer there is no sound, no sound when ringing out either??

my phone will ring but when you answer there is no sound, no sound when ringing out either??

    Hey dannibananny,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with the receiver on your iPhone 4. The following resource may help to resolve your issue:
iPhone: Receiver and call audio quality issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5196
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    1. Increase the volume during the call.
    2. Make sure nothing is blocking the receiver. If you're using a protective case or display film, remove it and try again.
    3. Make sure nothing is plugged into the headphone jack or the dock connector.
    4. Check the receiver opening to see if it is clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush.
    5. Try another location with better signal. If the audio issue happens only when on a call, it could be due to the location.
    6. If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or a car kit, try turning off Bluetooth on your device. Learn more about troubleshooting Bluetooth connections.
    7. Restart the iPhone.
    8. Make sure your device is up to date.
    9. If the issue is not resolved after restoring the iPhone software, contact Apple Support.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

Voicemail is a carrier feature, not a phone feature. This has to be fixed by your carrier, so contact them, as obviously, voicemail is not properly provisioned on your account.
