Mac OS X version 10.6.8. I keep getting "blocked plug-in" messages. Adobe Flash player update won't upload. Suggestions?

You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications (including Safari) first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
After installing, reboot your Mac and relaunch Safari, then in Safari Preferences/Security enable ‘Allow Plugins’. If you are running 10.6.8 or later:
When you have installed the latest version of Flash, relaunch Safari and test.
If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then in System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser, but check this also:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5655?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US  which also covers ‘blocked plug-in’.

  • Why do i keep getting blocked plug-in message

Why do I keep getting "blocked plug-in" message? I can't see video clips and this started about a month ago.

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 4.
    1. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then from the menu bar select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
    2. Triple-click the line below to select it:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. If there is more than one item in the folder with the words "Flash Player" (not "flashplayer") in the name, open the respective Info windows, check the version numbers, and delete all except the latest. You may be prompted for your login password.
    3. Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:
Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    4. If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked Enable plug-ins.
    5. Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
    6. In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.

  • I cannot download abode flash, keep getting blocked plug in message

    Hi,
I keep trying to download abode flash but keep getting a blocked plug in message. Have anyone been able to solve this problem?

    Adobe Flash Player
    Check Flash Version
Adobe strongly recommends that you first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html#main_1 0_4
Follow the instructions closely, such as quitting ALL applications first before installing.  Repair permissions and restart your computer after the installation is completed.

    =============================
Use Software Update or the OS 10.6.8 combo update to update your OS.  Also, update everything SU has to offer for your computer.  When done, repair permissions and restart your computer.
Your profile confirms you are still using OS 10.6.7.

  • Why am I getting "blocked plug-in" messages on sites I regularly visit?

Last night, for no apparent reason, any website with video (ads, YouTube, Facebook) will not play, but instead gives me the "blocked plug-in" message.  We have not updated any software that would cause this to change.  How do we get back our video capabilities?  (I'm running OS 10.6.8.)

Flash Player needs to be updated.
    1. System Preferences >  Flash Player > Advanced >  Delete  All
         Press the "Delete All" button.
         Install Adobe Flash Player.
        http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
       Download it first.
       The next step is important.
Click Safari in the menubar and select “Quit Safari”.
Follow the prompts and install it.
        Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.
    2.  Allow  Plug-ins
        Safari > Preferences > Security
    3. Safari > Preferences > Privacy
Press the button “ Remove All Website Data”.

  • Watching online videos

when i want to watch online videos, sometimes it says to download the plugin to windows media player but it still wont let me view the video online. what do i do?

I had the same problem. Even after installing flip4mac, I got that message. Yesterday, I noticed that one of the options offered, to the left of "upgrade your player" was "Play video anyway" or something like that. So I hit it and -- the video started! Since then, it's gone straight to the video without giving the message first. Hope that helps.

  • Why do i get blocked plug in

why do i get blocked plug in message and how do i fix this?  All videos are black.

If you can't install or update Flash, follow these instructions.
If you have installed the latest version of Flash, please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test.
For a "blocked plug-in" error, see Step 4.
For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 8.
Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
You might have to log out or restart the computer before a Flash update takes effect.
    Step 2
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data...
and confirm. Close the window. Then select
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced ▹ Delete All...
In the sheet that opens, check the box marked
Delete All Site Data and Settings
then click Delete Data. Close the preference pane.
    Step 3
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 4
    a. If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then select the Security tab in the Safari preferences window. In the list of plugins on the left, there should be one—and only one—entry for "Adobe Flash Player," showing the same version number that you installed. Select that entry. On the right there will be a list of websites for which you have specifically allowed Flash, if any. It's normal for the list to be empty. Below that is a menu labeled
              When visiting other websites
From that menu, select either Allow or Ask.
    b. If you still get the alerts, then go back to the Flash Player preference pane and select the Advanced tab. Click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
    c. If the alerts still persist, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
              Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
In the Safari preferences window, select the Advanced tab and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Step 6
Open this folder as in Step 4:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
              Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    Step 7
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 8
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
              Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
              Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 9
    Select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.

recently had bloked plug in come up, did as instructions said and downloaded and installed new adobe. still get blocked plug in message.

Remove it from the computer either using the installer, or remove it manually, then reinstall with a fresh download (I suggest removing anything from your downloads folder prior.)
Click on Go (along the toolbar, with Safari open) > Computer
    Macintosh HD > Library > Internet plug-ins
Delete anything to do with Flash. XPT, plugins, anything. Reinstall from the fresh download, restart the computer.
Let me know if that doesn't work.

  • When i try to watch synced video on my itouch i get "the requested url cannot be found on this server".  I am able to watch the video on my pc in itunes.  however, i cannot watch it on my itouch.

When i try to watch synced video on my itouch i get "the requested url cannot be found on this server".  I am able to watch the video on my pc in itunes.  However, i cannot watch it on my itouch.  It shows in the video window that the video is there but when i select it to watch it i get the message and then it goes back to the video menu.  It's like it's not really syncing - even though it shows on my itouch.  It doesn't seem to be specific to videos downloaded to the itouch directly or itunes directly.  It's happening to both.

This is happening to me too. I recently purchased about 4 music videos from iTunes, 3 of them play on both my pc and my iPod Touch but there's one particular music video that will only play on my pc and gives me the same "The requested url cannot be found on this server" message when I try to play it on my iPod. Can someone please rectify?
