When I browse to genres iTune crashes on iPod Touch 3rd Gen.

When I use my iPod touch and head over to the genres button, the whole music system stops.
But when I go to composers or something else, it will still play and work.
Anyone know how I can fix that?

Highlight the movie in iTunes, go to menu ADVANCED and select create iPod version.  Sync the newly created version over to iPod.  Will it play this time?

My iTunes says my iPod touch 3rd Gen is up to date with iOs 4.2.1, how do I get the new iOs 5?

You must update your iTunes software to 10.5 first then you can upgrade to iOS 5.
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
According to Apple the iPod touch 3rd gen can update to iOS 5.
"iCloud requires iOS 5 on iPhone 3GS or later, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), iPad, or iPad 2; a Mac computer with OS X Lion; or a PC with Windows Vista or Windows 7 (Outlook 2007 or 2010 or an up-to-date browser is required for accessing email, contacts, and calendars). Some features require a Wi-Fi connection. Some features are not available in all countries. Access to some services is limited to 10 devices."

  • Sync failed to start w/ iTunes 10.7, iPod Touch 3rd gen

Since upgrading to iTunes 10.7 on Windows 7x64, I have had trouble getting my iPod Touch (3rd gen, 5.1.1) to sync. I am getting the message "sync failed to start". This happens with either WiFi or USB connection to the device. I know the iPod WiFi is working because the Remote app shows my iTunes library, fetches email, etc.
After installing iTunes 10.7, when I connected via USB, Windows tried to search for and install new drivers. After a very long delay, I canceled the search and continued using the existing drivers. I'm not sure if this is related.

I have resolved the problem by 'shutting down' my MacBook ('restarting' the computer was not sufficient to resolve it). While I was at it, I took the battery out briefly before rebooting – don't know if this made the difference, but I do know that Apple Tech Support have instructed me to remove the battery momentarily on previous occasions when resolving other issues with the computer. Anyway, either just shutting down (or shutting down + removing the battery) seems to have resolved the problem, as iTunes is once again recognising my iPod Touch and I'm able to sync again. Phew!

  • Totally unresponsive and unrecognized by iTunes brand new iPod Touch 3rd gen

Within less than 24 hrs of setting up brand new 3rd gen iPod touch it is totally unresponsive. While using it, the screen went black, felt a little warmer than normal, and now won't do anything. I've tried resetting by pressing on/off and home buttons. Tried this even after plugging in to computer for 20+ min and still nothing. iTunes no longer recognizes it, so I cannot restore it. I am just stuck with a black screen with absolutely no response. I'm at a loss on what to do next or what might be wrong.  Have been all over this site for a solution, but just can't seem to find one that helps me.  Apple Stores are 3 hrs away from where I live. Very careful with the device, not dropped, not wet, just simply using it.  Any help greatly appreciated... my son is devistated.

See if placing the iPod in Recovery Mode will allow iTunes to see the iPod so you can restore via iTunes.
Next would be an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

I tend to make my playlists right on my ipod. This did not happen for the last 2 years. Just started recently. Did get a new computer recently.

That is because you got a new computer. You can only sync all media from one syncing computer. You can sync from any computer to iPod using the manual method but that does not sync from iPod to computer.
To make this your syncing computer:

I do not understand what "it says in the windows connect to itunes" means?
What is "it" and what is "windows"?

You buy one and only one download.
As it should have been transferred to your computer when you synced, you can contact itunes support and ask for an exception.

  • Ipod touch 3rd Gen Still Making G4 Crash

I thought we had corrected this issue but it has not been corrected.
    Have a G4 Mac 733 Mhz running 10.4.11
When Ipod Touch 3rd Gen is plugged into usb hub that is separately powered by its own brick the computer locks up. Everything just freezes up...
I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and even updated it to the very latest edition of itunes.
Why is this causing crash? What am I not seeing that needs to be corrected?
    HELP!!

I'm using my 64GB iPod touch with a Powerbook G4 1.5 GHz running 10.4.11 and it works fine. May be that brick... I installed a USB 2 PCI card in my PowerMac 1.25 DP. Maybe do that?
Why not use with the computer listed below? That's reserved for the 120GB iPod classic. Need the storage room.

  • Ipod Touch 3rd Gen Wiped with Latest iTunes Update

    Hi,
I had my ipod touch 3rd gen up to date with the latest firmware 5.x whatever it was. Then recently they released a new iTunes update which i downloaded and updated. Although doing this itunes update wiped everything off my ipod. I manually manage my music and this is very annoying to have to reselect all the songs i like and to put it back in. What could be the reason for this ? and what could i do to make sure this doesnt happen again!
I had already just recently manually added all songs again when OS5 had just released and having to do it now for the 2nd time after that just seems annoying.
    Please Help
    Thanks!

I would just go to the Apple Store and search for headphone with mic under iPod accessories.

  • I have an iPod Touch 3rd gen and while it is recognized by my laptop with Win 8.1, it won't sync with iTunes.

I have an iPod Touch 3rd gen and while it is recognized by my laptop with Win 8.1, it won't sync with iTunes.  It worked fine while my laptop had Win 8 but after the update, it quit syncing.  Strange though, I downloaded an app directly to my iPod and when I connected it to my laptop again (for recharging if nothing else), iTunes updated itself by including the new app.  I also tried syncing wirelessly.  Also unsuccessful.  I'm about ready to change to an alternate to iTunes if I can't get this situation fixed.  Anyone else have this problem and/or a solution?
