When I change a clip name it changes all clip names

In Event Browser or Inspector when I try and name a clip, or enter notes, the change I make appears in all clips as if all are linked.

Naming is a minor part of the metadata, and probably the least useful.
Use notes or named favorites
Keyword notes might be a little better if you need the data to carry into the timeline

I have to make a light modification on EQ setting an all clips

I assembled about 40 min. of a film, and I put en EQ audio (from Logic tab) an all clips (same setting for all clips). Now, playing back the film, I realized that I have to make a light modification on EQ setting (an all clips). Which is the quickest way to do it?

The other way, and what I now do all the time, is to add the audio clips to a "Role" (eg "Interview Speech") and then export the audio as a separate file (using the Export features).
Then add the EQ/effect in Logic or even import the clip straight back in and *then* put the effects on it in FCPX and disable all the original clips (using the Role features again, this is easy).
If timing changes, you need to re-export/import but I find this less troublesome than using compound clips just for audio.
The problem with using compound clips just for adding audio effects is that it can degrade the editing experience or the quality of your project (not the output quality, the usability of your project). I can no longer line up other clips against the audio clips or connect them individually (because they're hidden in their own compound clip).
And the option to temporarily undo the audio compound clip, basically doesn't exist because then you lose your effects and you'd have to "find/remember" all the clips you needed grouped again.
Word has it, that this problem will be solved by FCPX adding a "mixer". Maybe you'd still use "Roles" but the mixer will allow you to add effects to "Roles". Something like that, anyway.

Changing clip name behavior for duplicate clips

Suppose I have one duplicate clip that I have copied into two bins, like so:
-- Sunday's clips bin
          - clip_name_one
and
-- Flowers bin
          - clip_name_one
If I change the name of one, I expect it to change the name of the other also, since it is the same clip, just placed in two different places (not two separate files). Instead it only changes in one place, like so:
-- Sunday's clips bin
          - clip_name_one
and
-- Flowers bin
          - clip_name_one_tulip
Is this intentional behavior? I can't imagine how confusing this will be for logging when I make duplicates in multiple places for organizational purposes. I may even end up with the same clip with multiple names. The same is true for the metadata associated with the clip - if I add a comment in the comment field, it does not propogate. Markers, however, DO propogate to both, which is exactly as I would expect. Why not the metadata?
Is there a way around this (short of never duplicating clips)?

I agree, Premiere Pro is a bit weird in what it does and doesn't carry across duplicate clips. For instance, you can interpret the frame rate for a duplicate different than the other version of it. But if you go to timecode and enter a changed start timecode it effects both instances. I get why you would want to sync both name and metadata, but I also see benefits to not syncing it. Either way, I agree the option should be there. There also should be an option like fcp7 has, to rename a clip based on file name, or rename a file name based on clip name (but there isn't).
That said, instead of creating duplicates of the clip in different organizational bins, you could create custom metadata columns. Therefore creating sort of a virtual bin.
You could do that by going to the top right of the project panel and clicking on the little down arrow. Then go to metadata display (while in list view). Then you can click on Add Property in the Premiere Pro Project Metadata area. Then you could do a custom property, decide whether you want integer, real, text or boolean. You'd probably want text. So you could choose text and name it Flower. Then you could hit ok. Go back to list view, and type in flower
Then in your project panel search box, type in flower and find all clips using it. A work around for sure, but may achieve what you want.
P.S. It would be much better if you could create a boolean field and just search by the word flower and everything checked would come up in the search. Unfortunately the search is a bit stupid when it comes to this. So if you search flower with a bloolean field, nothing will come up! You have to search true or false, and then ANY checked box will show. Quite dumb! Definite feature request!

My bookmark folder names keep changing, sometimes when I make a new folder it will change the name of other folders to the new folder's name, how do I stop this?

I sort all of my book marks into folders with subfolders. Sometimes, for reasons I haven't figured out yet, when I create a new folder or subfolder other folders names will be changed to that same name. Why does this keep happening & how do I get it to stop? This has been happening to me for a while even though I have installed newer versions & updated them, is this just a bug with the newer versions of Firefox? For example, I had a folder with my husbands's name, in the bookmark menu for all his ...I created a new subfolder called phys ed in my education folder ...my husband's folder was renamed to phys ed, also.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

If you mean your rescue email address, it's in the Passwords and Security section, after you answer the two security questions.

Finding files on different drives when the drive names were changed

So I had music located on two different external HD's, and when I plugged in my iPod, it changed the names of my drives. For example, I had music on drive "H" and drive "I", then when I plugged in my iPod it changed those drive names to "J" and "K". It is easy to change my folder location in iTunes, but that will only fix half of my music (I have over 45,000 songs in my library). How can I have iTunes find all those other songs that now have the exclamation point as the songs are spread out now throughout my iTunes library.
I can not go along to each song or album and go through the process to find the location, that will take me FOREVER.

Connect the external drives & the iPod. Close iTunes. Open Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management. Reassign the drive letters used by each device until they match your original set-up. Start iTunes and, if you've got it right, all your tracks will be acessible.

Thanks for the reply and as a work around method I used the Photoshop to do all the adjustments then export the video to iMovie to finish the final cut. I also have a problem to paint or clone on a blank video layer created in Photoshop. It tells me the time is beyond the target frame time, I don't understand the message. Can you explain to me what did I do wrong? Thanks a lot!

Capture with Scene Detect: Clip Name Keeps Changing

I am editing weddings and my raw footage is usually on 3 tapes. I capture with Scene Detect checked and I name the clip "Clip", so Premiere labels each clip as Clip 01, Clip 02, Clip 03, etc. But when I put in my 2nd tape, Premiere starts labelling them Clip 01 1, Clip 02 1, Clip 03 1, etc. How can I get Premiere to continue from the last number of the previous tape, (the same way that Scenalyzer does automatically)?

You can't. Once you stop capture, PP will always restart the numbering, even if it's from the same tape.
What I do is use Bridge to Batch Rename the clips.

Subscription Services when Folder Names are Changed

Does anyone know what happens to a subscription if the folder name is changed?
For example, lets say we have a taxonomy with a folder in it called Machinery and I have subscribed to all the reports in that folder. What happens to the subscription if I decided to change the folder name to Supply Chain?

Hi,
If you subscribed to a folder, and then you change the name or rename it, you receive an email where you are notified about this event.
In any case, you continue receiving notification. It works fine.

Sequence name keeps changing

When I add a clip to the current sequence in the time line (for example by dragging from the viewer into the canvas), then the name of the sequence changes to the name of the added clip. If a label has been given to the clip, its colour also effects the sequence. How can I ensure that the name of a sequence does not change?

I made the sequence off line and save it as a new project. Then deleted the preferences and opened the project..... reconnected the media. Most of the clips showed the correct clip name and the sequence name also didn't change. But a few audio tracks still had the old problem....

To change your iCloud ID, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID. This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll (if not already there) before deleting the account. To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.
To change the ID on your Mac, go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign out, choose Delete for all the prompts (your data will still be in iCloud), then sign back in with the changed ID.
