When I change stroke colour to white it turns grey
Hey I created an art brush with a black stroke, when I try to change its stroke colour to white(or any other colour) it turns a shade of grey. I have CMYK selected under the colour options and hue shift selected in the strokes properties
Any ideas?
Thanks
It actually is grayscale when you made it an art brush. Select the path with the brush stroke applied go tot he color panel you will see it is grayscale from the color panel select cmyk now select a cmyk color or color swach.
All will now be fine, you have to do this for each stroke
Hue Shift did not work as you have black to start with.

How to make this image compatible as a laser cut file by changing stroke colour?
My final aim with this image is to make it compatible as a laser cut raster engrave design, so the laser cutter will fill the black areas or white (either would be fine). If this is not possible then even as a laser cut outline would be suitable
This is how the image will look when in Illustrator. however when I use the preview screen (ctrl+y) it creates an outline. This is how the laser cutter will read the image which is why it is very important the preview image is is what i would expect the final outcome to be.
As a raster the laser cutter requires the stroke line to be blue r:0 g:0 B:255. Currently I cannot edit the colour, yet I can change the stroke weight. Also how I would I fill the engraved areas as a stroke? At the moment when I try converting the stroke to blue it turns grey.
I am also unsure as to how I would make this feasible even to be cut out when I cannot change the stroke colour to red. This is required for laser cut designs as the laser cutter reads red lines to be cut.
I can usually change stroke colours easily so I assume this is due to the fact that I have brought this file through from Photoshop so it is not yet fullu editable. I have used the live trace and live paint function in illustrator so far.
Any help would be appreciatedYou need to expand the artwork and convert the strokes to genuine outlines to in turn be able to apply anotehr thin stroke to them again...

Why does my shape change when I change stroke attribute?
Hello,
I am having problems with my vector shapes automaticly changing shape (the position of every point that makes up the shape) when I increase the weight of the stroke or at color of the stroke. I hope that is clear.
For example: I have a Circle, then I change the weight of the stroke by clicking up on the arrows in the stroke dialog box. Every click up or down moves each point in a different direction. By the time I settle upon the weight I want, the shape is no longer a circle, but a abstract ameba shape.
Can anyone lend me some wisdom for what I can do to fix this problem?
Thanks a ton!You select only part of the path instead of all of the path, that is some anchor points are selected, solid, as opposed to active but not selected outlined.
Option clickon the path withthe direct select tool or click on the center point to select the whole path with the direct selet tool or use the selection tool or drag a marquis with a selection tool to select the path and the anchor points
now you can move it with the arrow keys
oh I see you want to change the stroke weight you need to have the cursor active in the Stroke panels weight field in order for the weights to change so first select the path then click in the weight field of the panel. -
Change Background Colour from White to Cream
Hello,
I have shot a large number of tutorial videos. These videos have a pure white background behind the talent. However, I would like to change the background colour to a less harsh cream/very light grey colour. I have attached the image of the talent in front of the white background.
I have tried using the colour key effect in the Premier Pro CS6 program. I selected the white background to key it out. And then placed a .psd file of the cream/light grey colour behind the video to show through. However, the talent has white areas in her dress, and white areas in between strands of her hair are not keying out. This alongside movement of her hands creates a brief white trail after them, making the whole effect look somewhat unprofessional.
Is there a way to achieve this effect to change the white background whilst still maintaining the 'professional' integrity of the video? Would a filter effect of a slight grey shade be possible? Or are there less invasive ways to achieve this effect for just the background? Your help will be very much appreciated!
Kind regards,
RajenMagic Bullet wont do this task. It has no secondaries or keying / masking capability.
On the other hand - Da Vinci Resolve definitely has all the tools to do it.
Possibly Speedgrade does as well. ( Dont know because I gave upon it!)
Worth looking at in PPRO would be a duplicate video layer with a grade and then a blend effect (probably screen with opacity)
It would be some trial and error. It always is with composite and fx.. -
When I print my photoshop images white areas print grey
Using my Epson Photo1500W images created in photoshop print grey in areas that should be White. There is no problem when I print images I have created in Illustrator or when I when I transfer the photoshop image into Illustrator. Any clues ? thanks Mikki
Did this problem recently start, or has it always been this way? Maybe a Preferences reset would fix it.
Windows - CTRL-SHIFT-ALT immediately after you double-click the PS icon.
Macintosh - CMD-SHIFT-OPTION immediately after you double-click the PS icon.
Look for the "Delete Photoshop Settings File" dialog and click "Yes".
If that is not the case:
Check your Printer settings, they are independent of Illustrator.
Look at the Print Dialog, see what Color management section looks like.
You have a choice to let the Printer or Photoshop manage colors. See what works best. -
Problem changing fill colour after image trace?
I am using illustrator cc 2014 to trace a jpeg image. After tracing I want to change the colour of the resulting image. The default colour after tracing is black but the image fill colour is showing as a question mark and when I go to change the colour the whole artboard turns grey no matter what colour I choose. I know the document is in CMYK. Does any one know whats going on here?
Hi I'm still having trouble with this here are a couple of images of the before and after.
This is the traced and expanded image:
And after I select a colour:
There are two problems with this, first is that its gone grey (I'm definitely in CMKY mode) and second is it did not fill the image in the way I had intended.

Changing text colour affecting more than one text box
I am creating a word cloud in a shape as a design.
I want to use only 3 colours for the words randomly. Each word is in a seperate text box
I am finding however that when I change the colour of one word it automatically changes a few? I cant work out why? What I've done in the past is
Find out how many characters per line.
Setup character style called VarLine 1, VarLine 2, VarLine 3 etc.
Set up a paragraph style for your text.
Go to the nested style.
VarLine 1 up to # characters
VarLine 2 up to # characters
VarLine 3 up to # characters
etc.
Set up your Variables for
Line 1
Line 2
Line 3
Then set each one to pick up the appropriate VarLine character style.
This works to a certain extent, it will need tweaking, as each application is different. I'm not sure if it will work in your case, but you never know. -

How do I change background color to white when looking at single image?
I know I can go to 'preferences' and choose white backgrounds but this changes only the background of the page that shows all my photos together. If I select one photo to view, the background turns to black again - as it does if I view an image at screen size. Can I change these backgrounds to white? I think black ***** the life out of images and makes them appear smaller and would prefer to always see my images against white, as in a book. Since I work with images and colours this is very important to me.

Hi,
Been trying to work this out for hours now so if anyone can help I will be forever thankful!
Basically, I traced an image earlier, expanded it then wanted to change the line colour. For some reason I couldn't get this to work even though I've done it in the past. So, I used the magic wand to select the line then dragged it into my new document and changed the line colour.
Now, I want to change the fill on certain sections, however when I change the stroke it changes the colour of the line and when I change the fill it changes the colour of the line.
I'm not sure if that makes sense or if anyone can help based on that but I can post pictures or something if that would help?
I also understand that the magic want thing might be where I've went wrong at the very start maybe?
Thanks for any help at all!I don't know if that helps you understand at all?
For example I want to fill the inside of the square but when I'm hitting the fill and stroke buttons they're just changing the colour of the line.
I think I might just start from scratch again! Don't know where I've went wrong. -
Changing the colour of a text box when the value is zero
Hello
I have some code in an expression that changes the fill colour of a text box in a matrix in an SSRS report.
When the value in the year fields is greater than zero then fine it changes the colour to what I want it to be but when the value is zero then the colour just stays white.
I'm not testing the value in the year fields but in the Tier field. It seems to default to no colour when the year fields are 0 though.
The code I am using is as follows
=switch(Fields!TIER.Value=1,"PaleGreen",Fields!TIER.Value=2,"Cyan",Fields!TIER.Value=3,"Beige")
This code is in the year field textbox fill property.
I have loaded a screenshot to show an example showing what is happening in the matrix.
Thanks for any help on this
Regards
JohnHi John,
According to your description, you want to change the background color of a textbox when its value is greater than zero. If in this scenario, we can use the expression below to control the BackgroundColor property of the textbox:
=iif(Fields!SalesAmount.Value>0,"Yellow","White")
If there are any misunderstanding, please elaborate the issue for further investigation.
Thanks,
Katherine Xiong

Photoshop CS6 keeps crashing when I try and change brush colour
Hi, my Photoshop CS6 keeps crashing when I try and change brush colour. I use layer masks a lot and consequently need to switch between black and white brushes. CS6 crashes a lot and gets closed by Windows 7 when I either click in the icon to swap brush colour or press the X keyboard shortcut. It's driving me crazy. I run Windows 7 on a high spec Dell PC. The problem has only started a couple of months ago, had CS6 since it came out. Can I advise me please? Thanks.
Please read these and proceed accordingly (restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be of special interest):

How do you change the name of a reminder in the reminder list. I right click and then choose "get information" I can change the colour of the reminder but when I type in the name that I want and then press enter the name stays as "untitled"
Jerry,
Thanks for replying again. I've got a little bit further thanks to you. I tried the US keyboard layout as you seemed pretty definte that it should work. This time I applied the setting and also started the language toolbar and selected it from there.
Hey presto, I've got the @ where it should be. Excellent.
However the single quote ' works in a weird way. When I press it, it doesn't show up on the screen. But when I press another key, I get the single quote plus the next key I press. When I press the single quote twice, I get 2 of them. This is also the same with the SHIFT ' key. i.e. for the double quotes.
Very strange. I'll look at other keyboards and see where that gets me.
Thanks, Maz -
Changing the colour space on a jpeg image for better quality when uploading to a website
When uploading my images to my website the quality and colour of the photographs aren't the same. They lose quality etc. I was told to change the colour space to sRGB or something to make it better. No idea how this works and I'm now not sure what settings to have photoshop on, I don't want to edit my images and then for them to be edited wrongly.
Really need some help, much appreciated.File > Save for Web. Use the 4-up panel to choose the best quality image with the smallest file size to save on bandwidth. You can test with sRGB enabled. Click on screenshot.
